Memories 1: “As God Is My Witness”: Obama Snubs Newsom, Gays

(“Memories” is a series of articles that we have written this past year that required some research and thought. And it’s a reminder, especially with the news that Gov. Tim Kaine has been chosen as the chair of the DNC, that both women and gays won’t have much to look forward to from the Democratic party in the next four years.)

tim-kaine-barack-obama-from-villagenewsSTAY TUNED: Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy will be coming out with a strong statement on the selection of Gov. Kaine. In the meantime, here’s are a couple reminders for you of this DINO:

  • Anti-gay Dem Tim Kaine tapped for response to SOTU,” by Melissa McEwan, one of my favorite feminist writers, at Shakesville, January 20, 2006. Melissa adds, in that piece, “[C]onsider instead that in the Dems’ move rightward as they chase an elusive victory, they’re willing to throw gays to the wolves—and women’s right to choice is next on the chopping block. Already we’re seeing Dems who support disastrous legislation like parental notification laws or are openly pro-life, if not explicitly anti-choice. What’s next? Who’s next? What will be your turning point before you finally stand up and say enough as enough?”
  • Tim Kaine, eh? Anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-stem cell, anti-labor, warhawk, DINO Tim Kaine?,” (on Obama’s consideration of Kaine for VP in the summer of 2008), by Lavender Newswire, July 30, 2008

“As God Is My Witness”: Obama Snubs Newsom, Gays, February 2008

as-god-is-my-witness-490px.jpg

What a stand-up guy. He’s always got his hand out for the “green.” But he is NOT there to stand up for those to whom he has his hand out.

This newspaper ad has gone “viral” in the gay community, across the nation. Below, from the original San Francisco Chronicle article. First, The Advocate story, “Obama Snubbed Newsom During S.F.’s Gay Marriage Fight,” on a tumultuous time for San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom and for the gay community — and that now infamous snub by Barack Obama (anyone care to speculate why the snub?), confirmed firsthand by former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown:

During his Senate run for Illinois, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is said to have declined to have his picture taken with San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom, who at the time was in the center of a national turmoil over his decision to allow same-sex marriage in the city.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday that the snub took place at a fund-raiser in 2004 hosted by former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown.

“I gave a fund-raiser, at his [Obama's] request at the Waterfront restaurant,” Brown told the Chronicle. “And he said to me, he would really appreciate it if he didn’t get his photo taken with my mayor. He said he would really not like to have his picture taken with Gavin.”

While the Obama campaign has denied the rumors, Newsom’s staff has corroborated the event. In a Reuters interview in January 2007, Newsom alluded to the event when asked about his thoughts on potential Democratic candidates Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore. He was also asked about his peers’ reaction to his allowing same-sex marriages, which some allege helped Republicans by introducing a wedge issue in an election year. …

From the San Francisco Chronicle on February 5, 2008:

Obama snub still rankles Newsom

Seeing Mayor Gavin Newsom on the national stage with former president Bill Clinton on Monday night is a reminder of how political winds can change. On the eve of the biggest night of the presidential primaries, Newsom shared the spotlight during a town hall meeting staged and broadcast on cable TV and satellite radio by the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign.

But just four years ago, current Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is said to have declined to have his picture taken in San Francisco with Newsom, who was then at the center of a national uproar over his decision to allow same-sex marriage in San Francisco.
“I gave a fundraiser, at his (Obama’s) request at the Waterfront restaurant,” said former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. “And he said to me, he would really appreciate it if he didn’t get his photo taken with my mayor. He said he would really not like to have his picture taken with Gavin.”

Today, of course, Obama’s people are backpedaling away from that account like crazy. His deputy campaign director, Steve Hildebrand, who lives with his partner as an openly gay man, calls it “a ridiculous story.”

“Barack Obama gets his picture taken with gay people all the time,” Hildebrand said. “Including me, his deputy campaign manager.”

But insiders at City Hall, both current and former members of Newsom’s staff, recall the incident well. And you can bet that Newsom hasn’t forgotten it either. …

Hillary Clinton? Her support for the community is well-known. Here’s but one example, a 2007 press release from the campaign:

Clinton Campaign Announces Launch Of LGBT Americans For Hillary Steering Committee

On the eve of the 38th anniversary of Stonewall, Hillary for President announced the formation of “LGBT Americans for Hillary,” a national steering committee of over 65 leaders in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Members of the steering committee include LGBT elected officials, activists from national LGBT and Democratic Party political groups as well as leaders from the worlds of business, entertainment and sports. This leadership committee will work with the campaign on several areas including political outreach, communications, policy advice and counsel, and fundraising.

“I’ve seen how Hillary Clinton’s experience, commitment, and leadership have made a difference for the LGBT community,” said New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. “From her efforts to defeat the Federal Marriage Amendment to standing up for our rights in employment practices, there is no one else in this race who will fight harder for the LGBT community. She’s ready to be our next president and I look forward to organizing the LGBT community on her behalf.”

The list of supporters on the steering committee demonstrates the history of friendship that Hillary Clinton has had with this community and the depth of her support among LGBT leaders. It includes people like former U.S. Assistant Attorney General Eldie Acheson, who went to college with Hillary Clinton, and Neel Lattimore who worked for her as First Lady as well as film/TV writer and producer Greg Berlanti who met her last week and signed on as a supporter immediately. The list also includes prominent LGBT activists who have been leaders on issues important to the community, including three retired members of the military who have worked to overturn the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, advocates in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and the attorney who argued and won the landmark Supreme Court case, Lawrence v. Texas.

“Her commitment to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and her steadfast work to improve access to care and treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS are just two of the reasons why I support Hillary Clinton for President,” said Jose Zuniga, President of the Chicago-based International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care. Zuniga, who attained the rank of Sergeant, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1993 after coming out as a gay man. He served as a military medic during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and had been named the Sixth US Army’s Soldier of the Year six weeks prior to his discharge.

Hillary Clinton has worked to advance the cause of equality for LGBT Americans for many years. As president, Clinton has pledged to end the divisive leadership of the past six years and work with the LGBT community to make sure that all Americans in committed relationships have equal economic benefits and rights. She also will work to end discrimination in adoption laws. As a U.S. Senator, she has worked to expand federal hate crimes legislation and pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and will sign the legislation into law once she is in the White House. She will also put an end to the failed policy of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

“I am proud to have the support of such distinguished leaders in the LGBT community,” said Clinton. “Together, we can move our nation closer to the promise of fairness and equality that all Americans deserve.”

Already, Hillary for President has been actively reaching out to earn the support of the LGBT community. In March, Clinton addressed the Human Rights Campaign’s Board Meeting and Equality Convention — the only candidate to accept their invitation. Her LGBT supporters have hosted two fundraisers for her campaign, one in Washington, D.C., on May 23, 2007, and one in Los Angeles last Friday. Hillary for President has a full-time staff person, Mark Walsh, solely focused on LGBT outreach.

“Hillary Clinton has precisely the priorities our nation needs at this time — a strong defense with a balanced hand to guide it, a will to strengthen education and health care, a fair tax system and a balanced budget – and equal treatment of every American under the law,” said Elizabeth Birch, former executive director of the Human Rights Campaign. “The LGBT community has seen many hard political years. It is time for a renaissance for our nation and for our community.”

  • I’m a Linda too

Which is why I can’t believe the GLBT community and proponents of Rights are making excuses as to “why” O-shit asked Rick Warren to give his invocation. Or that they are saddened but surprised at it. It is the same actions we’ve seen through out his brief career. You know, his record on the issues.

His talk always tries to be in generalities, so his actions show you what he believes. As he himself said, he tries to be noncommittal and allow folks to project their own preference on to him.

    • oowawa

he tries to be noncommittal and allow folks to project their own preference on to him

      That’s the Almight O, in a nutshell.

  • http://www.anvp.wordpress.com soldier4hillary

What is wrong? CNN just had that PEBO flew in on a military flight with people in uniforms stamped *Air Force One*. THEN they added that he didn’t fly in on Air Force One but some people on the plane just had on clothes that said it. We look like idiots. Then they played part of his interview on the plane with reporters talking about a book his daughter Sasha had and there was a house in the book and it came from one of her friends and then they moved. I shit you not just as much as you cant understand what I just wrote of the interview on the plane, is exactly how CNN played it and exactly how he said it. Oh and he is giving a big speech on thursday. All of this going on and CNN is doing fluff pieces. You have to see that clip from CNN.

Newsom is now exploring a run for governor of California, I revceived an email solicitation for funds, the other day.

Don’t know enough about him, yet, as to whether or not he deserevs support.

Interesting, though, if he should become gov of CA…

    • oowawa

Newsom for CA gov? Not a prayer. San Francisco is an island unto itself. It is not representative of California as a whole.

      • imustprotest

I’ve heard rumors that Maria Shriver might want to run when husband Arnold’s term is up.

        • oowawa

I wouldn’t bet against that possibility. And she would be a formidable candidate.

        • William L. Donlon

          Imustprotest:
          And Larry:

          A HEADS UP!

We are hearing the same rumors in New York and more:

The push to have Patterson Name Kennedy is near “Panic” mode.

The Obama people may have miscalculated and tip their hand.

There have been rumors that the Obama people made “huge” promises to Ted for his and the “Kennedy Brand” indorsement.

Caroline was just part of the “Package”.

We were never quite sure what that meant and then we started hearing rumors about Maria.

Now there is a New Rumor and it is VERY ALARMING.

About a week ago we started to pick up pay for play smears directed at Hillary.

Bill, as you recall, just released his list of contributors and one of them is Robert Congel.

HERE IS WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:

“Now it seems clear that Hillary has at least once tailored legislation to benefit contributors to the family foundation, which benefits the political aspirations of both Bill and Hillary.

Congel says that there is no connection between his $50,000 contribution and the legislation. Unless someone can produce wiretaps or written instructions, it would be impossible to prove him wrong, at least in the legal sense. The Clintons are a lot smarter than Rod Blagojevich, in that sense. However, the timing looks highly suspicious. In October, Hillary pushes the bond legislation that allows Congel to complete his construction. The very next month, $50,000 suddenly appears on the Clinton Foundation doorstep. A few months later, Hillary earmarks a project that brings traffic much closer to Congel’s mall. And all of that is just coincidence, right?”

          LARRY & PUMAS:

These attacks against Hillary are starting to pop up and are very like the way she was attacked during the campaign.

This has “Chicago Politics” written all over it.

When Bill Richardson “dropped out” yesterday I could see where this is going.

Richardson has stepped away from the Appointment, setting a precedent in this “Blago Pay For Play Climate”, in time to resume his Office As Governor.

Hillary can do the same thing BEFORE Caroline is appointed and seated.

What happens when this attack on Hillary picks up steam from the Clinton’s many enemies.

I can hear the Bulls–t merchants at MSNBC now.

If Hillary is not “Confirmed”, unlike Richardson, it will be to late to go back to the Senate.

She gets a one way ticket to Palookaville.

Every friend of Hillary should urge her to drop out and go back to the Senate, NOW!

Once back in the senate she should use her power and influence to take over Harry Reid’s job.

Any one in that position would be better than Reid.

Hillary in that position would have a real power base and totally eclipse Nancy in the House.

It may just be me, but I smell a Chicago double cross aimed at Hillary.

If you have her ear at all, advise her to:

          Beat them to the Punch.

Pull out and go back to the Senate, with 18,000,000 popular votes.

          • oowawa

This is all way above my pay grade as an amateur weisenheimer. But the reek of political corruption is everywhere! Yes–I sure hope Hillary stays in the Senate. But you know she won’t!

          • no kidding

I smell the same double cross. Put Caroline in Hillary’s Senate seat and dump Hillary as Secy of State. The Honeymoon with Obama is almost over and he hasn’t even taken office as yet. Let the Divorce begin.

          • athy

            William Donlon-
I agree with what you wrote…

          • fif

Paterson is NOT going to name HRC’s replacement until she is confirmed and resigns her Senate Seat. He has said so several times.

    • trixta

Newsom is fantastic! I do hope he makes a run for the Gov of CA. He showed great courage and strength in supporting the right to marriage for those in the LGBT community. On this issue alone he should be governor. In any case, he’s smart and HAS EXPERIENCE. Did I also mention that he has movie star looks — hey, every little bit helps!

      • oowawa

Yes Trixta, Newsom is a nice, handsome man, but I can’t imagine him being elected in any large city outside of San Francisco (except for Berkeley), nor in any of the rural areas of the state. But I’m often totally wrong, like in the last presidential election! Someone could probably make quite a bit of money betting against my predictions.

  • mimi

I’m no longer a Democrat. I could care less. All of these people deserve what they get for voting for 0bama and supporting the Democratic Party.

    • DawnTodayDawnTomorrow

I don’t know if they “all” deserve it but I do know you

(flipped out flip sides of the same dirty coin)

I’ll stay OUT of it. If I haven’t got anything nice to say…………….OOops TOooo2 late!

Keep putting the truth out there No Quarter. It’s better than just sitting and stewing on all this news even though MOST OF THE NEWS MEDIA doesn’t give a rat’s patooey! pffffffffft. :-?

      peace
      Dawnelle

    • wodiej

      Amen to that!

    • no kidding

mimi — the problem is that while the Democrats screw around and play their games this country continues to spiral downward. We are all getting hurt. I hope that these Dems get down to business and fix this mess–but I am not hopeful. Chicago politics has gone nationwide and the Reality Show called DC Confidential is going to substitute for real action on behalf of the American people. At least in my mom’s Depression she had Roosevelt.

  • JGalt

When I read that disastrous legislation includes parental notification I’m out of that article. That seems a very extremist viewpoint and assumes that all families are uncaring, actively malevolent or will force children to have babies that they don’t want. It also assumes that Planned Parenthood and social workers will be better able and better motivated to help the child decide in their own best interests? I think that’s absurd as shown by foster care and social service interventions and outcomes.

The family deserves to be held innocent until proven guilty. They are responsible for their child’s actions and welfare in every other arena. What trumps family in this case other than political objectives? Children that get pregnant need their families more than ever not less. There may be tears and anger but giving the family a chance to work out what’s best strengthens most families and is better for the children now and in their future.

    • kgirl1028

Uhh not to be mean but not everyone has good family. You have paretns who will beat their teen agers with in an inch of their live if not more, if they tell them they are pregnant. However, because parental concent is required before any medical proceedure that is done on a minor, that is why they should require perntal concent.

My grand mother recently has a masectomy But before he did the proceedure he knew my grand mother had cardiac problems and so he sent her to her cardiologist, why? Becaus if something had happened to her during surgery, and he knew she had died on the table or shortly after without finding out whether her heart could take it he would be in deep doodoo.

One thing i know for certain as a health care professional, that people are far to quick to sue there for consents signed by the patients or the patients parents is somewhat protective should somehting happen I remember being a teenager, and while at thirty i may read everything i sign back then I really didn’t.

  • mountainaires

I’m glad you’re reprising some of these issues, because these memories should be embedded in the brain of every Democrat–and I use that word intentionally, such is my loathing of my former party now–voter who supported this man. They can be so ashamed that they were such fools. No one knows anymore WHAT the Democratic party stands for; certainly, they are as hypocritical as the Republican party, so why should anyone vote for them?

    • Mort

I dont know, I see it as a chance to RECLAIM the democratic party.

Obama, and his ilk are corrupt, as you said, the same empty headed PR stooges the republicans are.

That isn’t me, that isn’t even really the Clintons, and the many who support them, (both the politicans, and the voters).

A party can’t stand on PR and pandering, for the long term, and these next four years promise to be interesting, given what we’ve seen of Blago, and Richardson.

(OT, sorry, I was wonering, the AGs Rove tried to fire, were they involved in investigating the pay to play, in any way?

Wasn’t one of the prominent AG’s out of NM, and of course, Fitz… )

      • Andrew P

I left the party, and I don’t know if it’s reclaimable. Look at the “new” Democrats. Tim Kaine. Al Franken. Caroline Kennedy. (Yes, I know she supports gay marriage, and I don’t care. Identity politics are a bad thing for this country. Period. I’m a New Yorker and it is an insult to me that she is taken seriously by anyone as a replacement for Hillary Clinton. Read the full 20-page transcript of her NYT interview. The woman is as dumb as a box of hair.) And look at Roland Burris. Take a look at his record and at the tomb he’s prepared for himself. So what if his appointment is legal. It’s also a disgrace. These are the Democrats who are going places in politics these days. No thanks. I’m keeping my distance.

        • Bugs Bunny

i LOVE THAT…..dumb as a box of hair!
          How sadly true!

        • Mort

I dont see how they can survive, for the long term, (ANY of the PR driven republicans, and democrats, that is).

As you said, dumb as a box of rocks, or hair, — maybe they can get twenty years on image, but nothing more.

They are the Paris Hiltons and Britney Spears of politics.

          As for their REAL positions?

It was my impression they have nothing to do with representing what is best for America, or even a reflection of a personal code, a guy like Kaine choosing his stance based on “whatever his hired political consultant says he needs to say to get elected and hold his seat, poll driven” -at this point, anyway.

I think the only thing they really believe in is corruption, and how to profit from it.

        • no kidding

Andrew — I agree with most of what you say but I believe that Roland Burris is a good appointment. As it stands the Governor of Illinois is the one who chooses the Senate Replacement. He could have chosen the Obamabots Valerie Jarrett or Jesse Jackson Jr. but he chose someone who was not affiliated with Obama. As a former Illinoian I know Burris is a good man who should not be kept out of the Senate.

        • Zeke

          box of hair……
          toupee’ or not toupee’,
          That is the question…

  • Jackarooty

I wonder if the Bareback Cowboy Andrew Sullivan (yes the one who helped spread the rumor that Bristol Palin was the mother of Trig) is really is looking past this one?

    • trixta

Andrew Sullivan is pathetic, and a Mary-come-lately kind of guy. He voted for Bush twice, twisting himself in all manner of pretzel logic in support of the Iraq War and the Neo-cons, then when Bush became unpopular started to criticize him.

From what I gather, with regard to the Warren, Sullivan said that this shouldn’t hinder “our” general support for the president elect.

  • Annie Oakley

anyone care to speculate why the snub?

It could have been smart since Shrub’s re-election turned on this same issue. OR, it could be a longer term strategy by camp O. People still assume that AAs are Democrats, ignoring the large base built up by the Republicans of the AA Christians who are opposed to gays and choice (think Ken Blackwell). This is the “I can reach across the isle” that Obama spoke of. After Harry Wallace Reid gets through, there might be an exodus of AA support over to the money party being built by O leaving the rest of the Dem party in the smoldering wreckage they so deserve.

I am quite sure that 90 percent of America is no longer paying attention to ANYTHING political. Especially now that gas is down to $1.68

Bambi could flip a double fisted bird at Oprah HERSELF
then turn and fart upside down in front of a FOX LIVE news feed and it would not matter.

He’s taking it 4 himself 4 at least 4 yrs.
I can barely stand to surface to watch the pre-game show.
This is gonna really suck. The next 4. The potential damage is mind boggling.

and look his cabal is beginning to fall before they’ve even begun…………… ie – the traitor Richardson, etc.

      • http://Godhelpusall lee M

Dawn, I think, and certainly hope, that you are wrong. I’d hate to think that 90% of Americans were only concerned with the price of gasoline. This country is in such deep trouble on all fronts right now that I’d venture to believe that the price of gasoline is way down on their list of things of importance.

You’re right about the potential damage to our country being mind boggling, though. We are in two wars, there are risks that we may be drawn into the Israel/Hamas conflict, our economy is in the tank and the international banking cartel is taking over. Unemployment is at an all time high and repairing our infrastructure is not the answer to providing jobs for all the thousands of people who are out of work.

With all of this facing us, as much as I deplore the choice of Kaine to head the DNC, I don’t think it is really so important. At least not to me, I am no longer a Democrat. I became an Independent back in June and couldn’t care less what the disgraceful Democratic Party does so long as they leave me alone.

I do worry, however, that the Trilateralists may now accomplish what they started with the Carter Administration.

        • no kidding

Lee — I agree with you. If our problems were only Gas prices then we would be in our glory. Unfortunately the Recession will deepen into a Depression if we don’t create jobs. With so many people being foreclosed on — what good are tax cuts — the homeless aren’t paying taxes anyway. The new greeting where I live is I hope this year is better than last–if it isn’t people will grow tired of the verbose Mr. Obama very quickly.

    • tillthen

      Thank you, OIAF.

My sentiments exactly. I’m gay, but I have never voted with my crotch. Country first.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Ughhh…Ferd, really? I would think that the continual excuses for Fraudbama’s idiocy would be causing even the most brain dead Obot some serious ennui at this point. And, yes, I think Hillary is going to be taking it in the proverbial shorts for “that one” on many occasions, sad as that is.

    • DawnTodayDawnTomorrow

I’m thinking old Hill Gal is reconsidering her choice to stand with this idiot group.

But then again, she’s made some real doozies of her own.

(I could never run for office as that is probably my proper first name “bad choices” dawnelle)

      lol ;-)

    • DawnTodayDawnTomorrow

so now that the election is over

has No Qtr lost all of it’s nasty smelly trolls???

seems like it or did I drop by at a trolless hour?

      (that’s a plus)

      lol

      • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

No of course the trolls haven’t abandoned us. They’re here in full force, particularly when it’s time to distract us from Fraudbama big news/scandals. They are a really disturbed group of individuals I must say. And it really freaks me out that Fraudbama is still paying these dirtbags.

        • DawnTodayDawnTomorrow

they MUST be paying some of them

cuz I can’t barely find the time to be here and I’m a fan

lest of course the whole of the computer world is ALL that ever lands on the net? (yea right)

          • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Oh yeah, they get their nickle a post I bet. LOL. I hope it’s worth it. There was one idiot here last night that was SO annoying. You always know when they are trying to deflect attention from Fraudbama’s idiocy when they drag out the “whitey tape” conversation again. What losers. But, then again, I think anyone who supports the Fraud is a big, fat, stinky LOSER.

    • wodiej

I think they are too Kool Aid induced to reason anything. I know…I’ve associated w people like them before. No matter what the facts are, they won’t admit they are wrong.

      • DawnTodayDawnTomorrow

I hope 50 yrs from now there is a CHITLIST somewhere

of the NAMES that changed HISTORY

and it would list every mofo traitor on the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee in NO apparent order (start with B for BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLLe, who else? Roosevelt 4 shame!!!)

I don’t know the rest but WILL look it up eventually!

THAT (2 me) is where this WHOLE thing could have had a better ending!

question is, would Hillary have been forced to pick Bambi for her VP thus still tainting her “GOOD SENSE”

        we’ll never know
        perhaps in some parallel universe
        {snicker}

I am sad to a point that Hillary will take the blame for his failures, however, I also believe she had information that could have stopped his candidacy in its tracks but refused to use it due to party loyalty. (Although I can’t prove it). For that reason and her taking the position knowing what she knows about him. I don’t feel sorry for her anymore. I used to believe her to be a good politician, this election changed my opinion of her, its all about power, and prestige (which I didn’t think it was with her, I thought she truly wanted to help average americans)

    • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Cathy…I am with you. Bill and Hill knew all about the phony birth certificate and of course they knew all the dirt on Fraudbama. I consider it ON THEM that Fraudbama is where he is. At any time they could have opened up to the public about what filth Fraudbama is. After all, Hillary sure knew about the caucus fraud and how the Fraud stole the primary. I think it was partially party loyalty but also self service. She wants to be in the spotlight and Fraudbama gave her a bigger shot at it than I guess she would have as a disempowered junior Senator. I worked hard to expose the Fraud in the primary and can’t help feeling violated that HRC and Slick Willie turned on us and got the Fraud elected. I’m very sad about that.

      • DawnTodayDawnTomorrow

partially why I became a PUMA

when party loyalty conflicts with my general good honest horse sense

        I’ll take the horse

the DONkey can stay in the damn barn

and the elePHANT can go back to the jungle

(I guess that would be a CAT not a Horse) lol

        *also thinking about RRAmy’s horse?

        • wodiej

omg…LOL, I agree w all of the above.

  • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

OT – is Obama intentionally trying to take down this country? First he’s pushing a gazillion dollar spending plan and now he’s pushing through a $300 billion tax cut? Where will the government get the money to do all that new spending? Is he purposefully trying to destroy America from within with this fiscal nonsense?

    • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com/ obamastolemyboyfriend(akaCsuzeq)

I have often imagined that’s what he’ll do. Everyone thinks it’s crazy that he could be a terrorist plant to take us down from within, but given all that happened in 2008, is it really so out there?

      • trixta

        BO is the Manchurian Candidate.

    • no kidding

Hillary or Bust — Sounds like fuzzy math unless of course Obama takes the money out of Social Security and lets us codgers have our death with dignity.

  • The Robot

Dammit, Obama needs a whole fleet of buses for his throwin’ under!

And if there is a common thread to BO’s behavior, it is that ALL he does is in service to Himself and ALL others are expendable to that end. I’ve no doubt the man would sacrifice this entire country if it meant his personal gain.

    • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

LOL…Maybe he’ll throw James-Brown-in-a-Dress under that bus soon. Hey, a gal can dream right?

The homosexual “community”, an oxymoron, shouldn’t even be an interest group. They have all the protection that every other group has against harrassment. They are just agitating and I’m sick of it. The people of California passed Prop. 8. Deal with it!

    • fif

So sorry that you find civil rights and equal representation as prescribed in the Constitution so damn annoying. Be careful, something you hold dear may be threatened next…where is your compassion? There are approximately 1,000 rights that are automatically transferred to married couples when they are joined. For gay couples to recreate that labyrinth of legal rights is extremely complicated, costly and laborious. What makes you and your version of love so superior? Oh I forgot…as Obama said: “When a man and a woman marry, God is in the mix.” And as far as it passing, many other violations of civil liberties used to also be perfectly acceptable until good people fought for equality.

  • trixta

Why so hostile, sayitisntso? Your Obot “comumunity” is calling! I’m sure they would revel in your comments there.

    • sayitisntso

      trixtahhh
One can be against Hussein O. AND the homosexual community….at the same time….They are different issues…Stop drinking and everything won’t be so black and white to you….uh, no I’m not calling you racist! And, I can read, so lose the bold. Thank you very much.

      • Barry bums a ciggie

I’m with you. I have liberal friends who voted to uphold prop 8…their reasons, gay marriages would be just too weird. Ain’t that a kicker.

        • fif

They are not truly liberal if they said that…civil rights are the bedrock of liberal principles. That’s civil rights for EVERYONE, even if it makes you feel “weird.” If you pay taxes, you deserve equal representation and rights.

  • Barry bums a ciggie

I saw this article way back and knew Barry was a pandering a-hole. I sent it to all my gay friends and they responded with excuses for the fool saying he needed to stay clear of this as not to “scare” the swing voters. They believed that once he was elected, he would take care of the LGBT community by championing their causes. Take care of them he did. His thank you comes in ways of Rick Warren and Kaine. The regressives progressives must be stunned just about now.

    • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

You are ON THE MONEY Barry Bums a Ciggie…I TRIED with all of my gay friends. Oh well.

    • Snickers

Not just the gay rights, but FISA as well. I had friends say once he’s in the WH, he’ll fix FISA, yeah right. He’ll fix the whole planet and according to him, the sea level will go down, the global warming will come to a halt, I’m sure all hate will evaporate and we will all live in Hopey-Changey love – forever. GAG!!!

      • Zeke

I had a dog that got “fixed.”
Can’t say he took it all that well…
        Some things can’t be un-fixed.

  • fif

How long can he use the “inclusion” excuse if he only keeps picking evangelical Christians to “round out” his administration and events? His version of a broad coalition is a wide spectrum from A to B.

    • Zeke

Not only that, but how do Evangelicals justify working for a man who’s been caught in so many lies and who had attended a church for twenty years which they would storm out of in twenty minutes?
      The sonofabitch is a Svengali…
      No, really
      A Fucking Svengali
How else do you explain it other than the possibility that we just really pissed God off as a nation and now we’re reaping our reward.
If it is “B”, then we are truly in the shit.

  • tillthen

Obumo is the stooge he always was, still riding his oratory wave for wallowing gaga Americans, while the knee-slapping puppeteers can’t fathom themselves how far they have taken him. Serving many masters can eventually lead to trouble and the true Svengali will emerge and leave America breathless. Who is the real Dr. Evil?
