Fort Lauderdale Rally Against Israel – Dec 30, 2008

Whatever your position on the recent Israel / Hamas conflict, I’m sure you’d agree that these people in Fort Lauderdale do nothing to add to the debate.

And the young woman who yells “go back to the oven” should be ashamed of herself.

And what about the guy who says “we have to educate the people about what Islam really is so that they can appreciate the beauty of it. Cause once people understand the real beauty of Islam, they will have no choice but to accept it because they’ll realize that it’s part of their nature.”

Not mine, dude. Whew! Probably not how Fort Lauderdale would like to make the news. After all, they only recently got rid of all those horrible spring breakers.

            My recommendation, and I understand the frustration you are expressing, is to articulate your view with details and insight.

            I let the passion of my feelings get to me, and I forget that it doesn’t help to understand what I have to say. Then if I blame others for getting caught up in my, “idiot”, “bigot” and “batshit crazy” words…I have again lost my opportunity to explain my view.

            Granted, some don’t want to hear you view no matter how nice you are.

            But this site is about the exchange of ideas, the conflict of ideas and hashing them out.

            It is not accurate to paint it as “Muslim bashing” even though some do. Others do not. Please recognize that.

            Articulate your feelings and worry not about what the response is.

    Presumably, the placard carrier was trying to couch the statement [it's fine to spew hate but who wants to get beat over the head for it]. Or maybe he was trying to be cute.

    Of course, we haven’t seen the other side or been privy to the jihadi obscenities. Because Israel is the only monster in this mess, we’re repeatedly told. Should we be able to criticize Israel? Of course. But the propaganda in support of terrorists is absolutely stunning.

      I think the extremists need to get their message straight, however. If they question the validity of the Holocaust then they can’t be screaming about ovens because according to their own rationale the “ovens” never existed. In the same vein, they cannot flip the history and call their plight “a modern-day Holocaust” if there was no original Holocaust.
