[Classic NQ] Obama Fundraiser and Political Patron Antoin “Tony” Rezko Convicted

Remember when Tony Rezko was convicted during the campaign? NQ thought you might like a reminder of what Rezko was up to and his connection to PEBO. This story by truthteller was originally posted in June, 2008. Pictures with the original story are no longer available.

Good job, Obamacrats. Do you seriously believe it is in the best interest of my Party to nominate someone who has had a professional, financial, personal and political relationship with a convicted slumlord and political fixer since at least 1991? Are we now the Party of corruption?

I quote the Chicago Tribune:

Rezko’s guilty verdict on 16 of 24 corruption counts could have broad repercussions for Blagojevich, who made Rezko a central player in his kitchen cabinet. It could also prove a political liability for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, who once counted Rezko as a friend and fundraiser, as the likely Democratic presidential nominee heads into the general election campaign against Republican John McCain.

This will complicate Obama’s bid for the Presidency, for Rezko intends to appeal the verdict. [UPDATE: Moreover, the Republicans intend to highlight Obama's connections to Rezko during the campaign. I do not blame them, for as we discussed again and again at No Quarter, this is an issue of Obama's judgment and experience.

Thank you again, Obamacrats. I guess a McCain Presidency is the change in which all of us can believe.

I also recommend consulting the documents the Chicago Tribune has compiled on the questionable property deal involving Rezko, Obama and the Kenwood mansion Obama and Rezko jointly purchased in 2005.

    I have said all along that BHO will pardon all these people on 1-21-09. What have they got to fear from anyone? The Scooter got off, why not others. We have become more of a country, where the law does not apply to the connected and no body seems to get upset about it anymore.

    In another misfortunate association, Obama’s choice for commerce secretary has withdrawn his nomination. Gov. Bill Richardson has some reason to think he would be an embarrassment to the New O Order. According to the NYT, January 9, 2009, in Nationwide Inquiry on Bids for Municipal Bonds, “Email messages, taped phone conversations and other court documents suggest that companies did not engage in open competition for this lucrative business, but secretly divided it among themselves, imposing layers of excess cost on local government…”

    Reminds me of what the insurance companies were doing. They’d pretend to give competing bids while they alloted the business among themselves… something to keep in mind as the move to make people buy health insurance gets rolling.

      Don’t forget, john edwards was to be the poverty Czar and when the DNC met to decide on their platform they decided to put on hold the talk of such a position. This was just within days of john getting caught with an affair and a kid.

    Why would Rezko buy land for over $600K and then resell a piece of it to Obama at a depreciated price? Is Rezko in the business of makign a loss? Rezko received Millions in susidies from the State when Obama was in the Illinois legislature. If this was a repblican sentaor with the surname STEVENS and he live in Alaska he would be indicted for failing to document his monetary gifts as a senator..

    That Land Rezko gave to Obama was a gift.

    answer to KmX … it was actually Rezko’s wife that bought the land ..when she was only bringing in an income of approx $35,000. per yr..i want to know who her mortgage company is and i want to know how to get those kinds of freaking loans!!

    Also don’t anyone forget..The judge in the Rezko case was not going to incarcerate Rezko right away and Rezko volunteered to be incarcerated immediately!

    I guess he had an incling he was dead man walking with all the info he had, and he was most likely safer in jail than walking free!
