I’m sorry if this is a downer but this is an open thread – USA Today is selling special ad space for a “commentorative” Obama edition.

    https://secure.serve.com/~russjohn/classifieds/usatoday/order-obama.php?utm_source=obama&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=obama

“With the anticipated excitement around the inauguration, USA Today will be publishing a special bonus section entitled “The Inauguration of Barack Obama”. You too can be a part of this historic keepsake when you place your message in the Welcome President Obama feature. Your message to the President will also receive over two months of exposure on USATODAY.com. When your order is placed, your message will be added to the “Notices” category of the online Marketplace section. In addition, on January 20, 2009, our featured Welcome President Obama page will go live on USATODAY.com. All online messages will run through March 20, 2009.”

Maybe some PUMAs could buy an ad telling him to eff off?

    This crap makes me SICK.

    • Winston

With the anticipated artificial, media induced excitement excrement around the inauguration, USA Today will be using its paper to clean up the mess.

    • FranSC

I haven’t figured out how I am going to make it through the next couple of weeks. I am trying to brace myself for it. I will just be happy when it is over and they stop re-playing all the sappy scenes over and over.

I will be glad when the republicans finally turn on “him” as they always do – even they are talking about the historic nature of this inauguration and they seem to be giving him the benefit of the doubt which I think is traditional. Obama doesn’t seem to have any critics anywhere except us. They just don’t know what we know or don’t care.

  • candymarl

my cat thanks you. he watched the whole thing.

  • Trey

    Yeah but where’s the Labradoodle?

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Our cat, Larry, loved it. But then, Larry would. Larry is crossed-eyed and a faux siamese. He couldn’t figure out that the cats were fakes and on the computer screen.

Hmmm, kinda reminds me of all those obots…

    • andrew191

A crossed eyed faux named Larry that can’t recognize fakes on a computer screen???????????

AND IT REMINDS YOU OF OBOTS?????????????

This is quite simply too funny, too ironic, and too perfect to be true!!

      • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Yup, Larry is just a sweetheart kitten. We love him big time.

        • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Ahhhhh. And I can’t imagine you named your cat Larry. That’s very clever, and funny.

Well, I had a cat named Samuel once — we also called him Sam, Sammie, Sammie-pooh, and all those goo-goo baby-voice things that people call the cats they love.

Like my Bear. He’s Bear, he’s Bubby, he’s Bubbins, he’s Bubkins, he’s Boo-Boo Bear, he’s Bubbalooza, he’s Bubby Bear. And on and on. Damndest thing — he responds to them all!

  • Ani

I thank you, Susan, and my two furry babies thank you.

  • Karma

Cute video. It got the cats attention. ;)

Anyway, there is a snippet of this YouTube from your video upbove.

    “The two talking cats”…it’s adorable.

Oops edited too much…Speaking of getting their attention. We are getting a Lab puppy tomorrow.

Shhhh…don’t tell the Rottie or the cats.

  • andrew191

Whoops, that reminds me, I have to change the litter box. Thanks.

  • I’m a Linda too

    Very funny.

  • AF catfish

Bummer, we missed Kerry’s opening statement. We’re starting out with Dodd’s opening statement.

  • daiseymae

Thank you Thank you Thank you! What a great laugh…
My 3 kitties were sitting beside me as I played that, as you suggested, and they LOVED IT!!!

  • Diana L. C.

As the servant of five cats, I thank you for posting the video. I loved it.

Our most problematical cat, Jimi (after Hendrix), is now a certified genius as far as my husband is concerned. We call our guest bathroom his “condo.” He opens one of the cabinet doors and uses the top shelve as his bunk bed. My husband, his favorite servant, must put his food and water on the bottom shelf. Yesterday, my husband came running down to tell me that as he walked in with his master’s food, he found Jimi using the toilet to pee into. That is what now my husband claims shows his brilliance.

I ask you, though, don’t I get some credit for knowing how to flush the toilet after him?

  • stodgie

i tried it but my kitties are sound asleep. i got up late after working late and fed them. off they went to my bed for the day shift. they do thank you however and dearly love their proper due.
