Joe the Plumber, Secretary of Treasury?

Thanks to KMX and Mary, two of our intrepid commenters, who intelligently noted that Joe the Plumber may be better qualified to serve as Secretary of Treasury since he only owed $1,000 in back taxes. Obama’s nominee, Tim Geithner, was a deadbeat to the tune of $40,000 dollars. He would probably still owe the damn money if he had not been nominated for the job of managing America’s economy and supervising the Internal Revenue Service, which has the task of collecting taxes from scofflaws like Geithner and Joe the Plumber.

Remember the outrage from the Obama supporters when Joe the Plumber challenged the Messiah on his plans to redistribute income?

We learned immediately that Joe was behind on his taxes. I can understand Joe having problems paying taxes because he did not make a lot of money. But the what the hell is Geithner’s excuse? He could afford to hire a housekeeper. He made six figures. But he had no time to pay his taxes. And he wants to help frame the economic policies of America?

Let’s put it in patriotic terms. According to Joe Biden paying taxes is a definition of being a patriot. If we use the Biden standard then it is clear–Tim Geithner is not a patriot.

I’ll be surprised if the boy makes it through the confirmation hearing. If Democrats excuse this kind of bullshit they are no better than Republicans who signed off on an incompetent like Alberto Gonzales. This ain’t change. This is more of the same.

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com obamastolemyboyfriend

Oh, but you aren’t understanding the difference between Joe and Tim. See, Joe was helping McCain/Palin. Tim is a chosen one by Obama. McCain/Palin=bad, evil, Republicans. Obama/Biden=good, angelic, Democrats. Have you not learned one thing from The Barracky Horror Picture show ’08-’12? If Democrats do it? All good. Republicans do it? Very, very bad. Illegal even.

Ok, now go home and study for the exam or it will be a very nonsensical 4 years for you! ;-)

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com obamastolemyboyfriend

Forgot to add it is very bad if someone named Clinton does it! That is the worst in Obotworld.

  • rolling_thunder

You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just want to help the dumb ass get down.

  • pieces of you

You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just want to help the dumb ass get down.

    Which one?

I mean, doesn’t it fit them all?

  • trixta

So true! Geithner is not qualified to be ST, and his name should be withdrawn forthwith.

Nevertheless, it’s sure fun watching Obots’–esp. MSM Obot Ed Shultz’s– head explode over this. (I happened on his on air meltdown this morning on the way to work. Now that was worth listening to!)

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com obamastolemyboyfriend

OOOOOOHHHH! I used to love Ed Schultz, now hate him. Got a clip for the meltdown? That would be awesome!

It will take one of these assholes to turn on Obama to start a domino effect. Personally, I’d like to see Olbermann or Mancrush Matthews be the first!

  • rightagain

Yup, I used to listen to Air America. Ed Shultz, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow, and the rest. But, they did Hillary wrong fully a year ago. Funny how time flies when you’re not having fun. Back to Timothy Geithner – this is not change. This is a guy for which the “rules do not apply.” Remind you of anyone else?
I wonder how he came to be audited? That isn’t so common, unless of course you are a single mother on public assistance. So who was wise to him at the IRS? Let’s dig into this. For pertinent info of the IMF and World Bank read “The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism” by Naomi Klein. More info: Larry Summers, the chief financial executive of the World Bank is Geithner’s mentor. Summers is a Skull and Bones member. So is Austin Goosley, BO’s financial advisor. Its all connected. “Follow the money…” If Hillary hadn’t paid her taxes she would be tarred and feathered. Do ya think Geithner paid the housekeeper’s social security and employer taxes? Probably paid her under the table. What a jerk.

There is an article in Columbia mag. winter edition (of course the cover has a rendition of that face)that talks about the change that Obama means for Am. Not necessarily because he is AA, but because his campaign was different, it was very “emotive” and “driven by ideas like hope as opposed to issues.” (like in elections in developing nations, imo).

That his campaign was almost unique in Am – “the way in which people flocked to him, knowing little about him, knowing not very much about what he would do in concrete terms as president” (watching Venezuelans flock to Chavez comes to mind).

He is different because he “focuses much of his rhetoric on themes of commonality.” …”he does have this powerful impulse toward consensus.” “There is change, without question……If he’s as masterful a president as he was a campaigner, then I think we’ll see this as a major turning point in American politics.”

Seems some in academia are getting ready to talk about a before and after in terms of US politics…valuatively (does this word exist), it will be “bad” before, “good” after.

  • KintheNorthwest

I have probably said this before.
I think Obama is the only president that has an almost empty background. All the people that could be found that he worked and socialized with were thrown under the bus. I am trying to remember if any of his old high school friends, college friends or ?? did/have stepped forward. Everyone in his family seems to be either dead or not talking anymore. The ones in his family who do talk have information that doesnt match Obama’s.
    STRANGE

  • HC

People also went out of their way to tell me Joe wasnt a licensed plumber. As if this mattered at all. Obama could have pontificated at a potted plant and I would have felt the same about what he said.

The Obama chased the man onto his lawn, and in some attempt to look, I guess smart?, debated him on the virtues of wealth redistribution. And Joe was awesome, he just wasn’t having it.

I cannot imagine what possesses people to like The Obama. Its some flaw in the American brain that he exploits and I just cannot understand it.

  • ritamary

Joe isn’t a licensed plumber? Oh no, how terrible!!!!! And his first name is actually Samuel; his middle name is Joe!!!!!! Earthshaking news! How dare such a person ask the Messiah a question! All his personal information should be released to the media as punishment for his sin. Oh, I forgot, that was done already.

But someone please tell us more about the Ed Schultz meltdown today. Please!

  • James

There’s no doubt Geithner will pass the nomination. Everyone will be so impressed with his intelligence and background that they will let go this story.

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com obamastolemyboyfriend

Yes. “The” Obama. I think that is the best way to refer to it. Brainless, heartless, common senseless, common man less, the Obama.

  • Shainzona

Zoe Baird….remember her? Why doesn’t the same standard apply to this jerk.

A Secretary of Treasury who doesn’t know to pay his taxes. Heaven help us!!!!!

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com obamastolemyboyfriend

Obama really does equal subhuman and that is why I am afraid of him.

  • Peggy Sue

I don’t think this will sink Geithner. The Democrats are already making mooing sounds about how horrendous the economy is and Geithner is the best, maybe the only person who can find the dead bodies and rescusitate the Nation’s finances.

Crank up the fear factor. Why not? It worked before.

Will he be pounded during the confirmation hearings? Yeah, they’ll go through the motions and the end result will be Geithner’s appointment at the end if the day [with great heaving and sighing and multiple mea culpas].

Change? No, just more theatrics with different actors. And frankly, I’ve come to the conclusion the Dems are no different than the “evil” Republicans. Only the buzz words are different.

    Deja vu all over again.

As for Joe the Plumber? His great sin was that he made Obama look and sound ridiculous by asking a perfectly reasonable question.

    It’s a wonder they didn’t stone him.

  • rw

“I cannot imagine what possesses people to like The Obama. Its some flaw in the American brain that he exploits and I just cannot understand it.”

The Columbia U Mag. article also states that Obama is an “amalgam of identities and ambitions.” Apparently he has enough identities with which over 50 million people can identity and feel safe with. Could Obama have happened on the national scene without 9/11?

Without 9/11 would we have gotten the George Bush we got (he came in as an isolationist, correct?), without George Bush there would be no Obama. This was his time, thus the fix, thus the stealing of the election from Clinton.

  • I’m a Linda too

Well, I guess it’s the latter. Dem’s are already saying they “are OK with Geithner”, so that means they are no better than the Repubs. Which has been the case this entire past year. Every Dem and supposed liberal outlet, blogs, RADIO, etc, were much worse than the Conservative outlets and partly because they would point out the wrongs the right was doing, so they were intentionally doing them when they were supposed to know better. That makes it worse in my book.

I still can’t get over Dirty Harry Reid, Obama and all for threatenting to arrest an appointed Senator if he tried to enter the Senate floor.

    They are sucking big time.

  • Peggy Sue

As an addendum to my initial post, Harry Reid said earlier today [I just heard this] that the controversey surrounding Geithner was a “minor hiccup.”

Hummmm. Wonder if that would work on April 15th? The hiccup defense. Worth a try, don’t you think?

  • TeakwoodKite

Obama could have pontificated at a potted plant. . Do you mean BO was using his silk, slick, sly, slithering silted slag to slamboozle saps?

Does not one ponitificate on a potted plant? :)

    1. To express opinions or judgments in a dogmatic way.
    2. To administer the office of a pontiff.

    But that does describe BO…

  • trixta

Obamastolemyboyfriend–Sorr sorry but I heard Shultz’s meltdown on radio Air America (which I don’t listen to anymore since the primaries, but did so today by accident). He was livid, resenting the fact that shmucks like himself had to pay taxes and go through painful tax audits, while the likes of Geithner conveniently forgets to pay his taxes. He was also pissed at Obama for selecting such an “unclean” guy. At the risk of sounding like a sadist (but what the heck), I took pleasure hearing his frustration and anger. Serves him right that MFPOS!

  • elise

rightagain, I read The Shock Doctrine last year and just mentioned it on Larry Doyle’s post. What have we given up for the War On Terror and now, what are they asking we give up for the Economic Crisis? Both promote fear, come from both political parties and what is the End Game?

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Wow, were they describing Schizophrenia in the Columbia U mag? Or would that be multiple personalities.?

  • trixta

Too bad Naomi Klein became an Obot early on, especially knowing that she knew who BO’s financial advisers are.

  • trixta

KintheNorthWest — my husband and I were talking about this very thing today! The Manchurian-Candidate factor seems to be at play here. Do we even know that His mother was his real mother — or that his father was His real father? And those mysterious years at Columbia U are sure fishy! By all accounts, He’s a man without a history.

Also, now I get why Obama is associated with the term SPAMALOT. Aside from the reference to fake meat, SPAM is also known as the mystery meat! LOL!

  • trixta

Ritmary, See my comments posted above.

What was unique about Shultz’s meltdown is that he was actually questioning the ONE’s judgment. I don’t know if his radio show on AA is repeated on the internet, but it might be worthwhile checking that out. (In fact, I’ll do that right now.)

  • TeakwoodKite

    Ritamary, salutations.

I thought it was below zero in the northern tier today?

Ed a fondu comme la méchante sorcière?
Quand il était de 20 degrés au-dessous de zéro?

  • Strawberrybitch

A Minor Hiccup? Didn’t they nail Al Capone on tax evasion?

  • http://www.wegoted.com/dailytake/ trixta

Okay. Schultz, from what I understand, is not affiliated officially with Air America, but his show comes through a local radio station in my area that also carries AA radio shows.

I just went to Schultz’s web site wegoted.com/dailytake

and clicked on the “dailytake” link and found this:

“Does Obama Need a Guy Who Didn’t Pay His IRS Taxes in Charge of the Treasury? Why are the Democrats looking away on the Geithner tax and housekeeper problems?”

I guess you have to join the site to listen to past shows — and I’m not about to do that!!! But you get the idea of where he’s headed with his questions (as accessed through the dailytake link). But, even though Schultz had a meltdown on this issue, I don’t think he’ll turn on Obama at this point. He’s too much of an Obot.

  • Winston

Years ago someone stole Obama’s identity and so far Obama hasn’t noticed that it is missing.

  • Winston

    LOL. So true.

  • Clara Barton

Heard on Fox this morning that Byron York reported in the Natl. Review that the IMF gave the money to pay his back taxes and he spent the cash on something else instead of doing his patriotic duty. He cannot claim ignorance or oversight because he blatantly neglected to comply with the law. This man has no right or business to be placed in charge of our Treasury and to oversee IRS. Holy Cow. What kind of message does that send? Just one more example of how The Man (just like The Obama) gets over on us Regular Joes.

Haven’t looked yet but also heard that today’s NYT has a negative article on him today.

  • Clara Barton

Sorry I didn’t provide the links to articles referenced above.

The NYT piece was an editorial, not an article (More Questions for Mr. Geitner)

  • kat in your hat

Yes, yes! I was saying this too. Incredible how they attacked Joe the Plumber for back taxes like he was the worst person in the world but now this is no big deal. The hypocrisy is truly sickening.

  • EyesOpen

No Quarter – I’m writing about hypocrisy, but related specifically to the media. It is time for holding meida hands to the fire. We can not let these opportunities pass.
You have featured Michael Smirconish in several of your posts over the past year. Despite his conservative roots, he came out with a very public endorsement of Obama in October – perfectly orchestrated with Powells’ endorsement. His justification was because Obama showed some brilliant capabilities to fight terrorism, capture Bin Laden and get us out of Iraq into the real fight in Afghanistan. Well, we have been witnessing Obama adopt Bush’s policies in Iraq and now today I come across this gem over at Hot Air. http://hotair.com/archives/2009/01/14/obama-on-second-thought-its-not-that-important-to-capture-bin-laden/.
If you have the time and interest, you can email the Smirconish show and the radio station at showmail@mastalk.com; thebigtalker1210@cbsradio.com. If you want to make an easy cut and paste, here is the email i sent. Thanks for your help. Please forward this message is to Michael Smirconish and the general manager at the Big Talker,
It must be something to abandon your principles, do it publicly for some fabricated reason, and then have those reasons publicly discredited by the very person for whom you claimed to have abandon your principles. I thought is would be sometime in 2010 that I would enjoy writing this smug email to you, but it is coming just 90 days after you endorsed Obama. Despite any evidence, actually even more to the contrary, you endorsed Obama because he was some expert in fighting terror and he was going to get Bin Laden and get right on things in Afghanistan. The Big Talker played your confrontation to John McCain on this issue ad nausea during the election cycle taking up valuable and expensive air time for your challenge.
Not only is Obama adopting Bush’s policies in Iraq, today I come across this story http://hotair.com/archives/2009/01/14/obama-on-second-thought-its-not-that-important-to-capture-bin-laden/. You and the radio station have discredited themselves by abandoning principles and thought leadership to what end? I hope whatever you got is worth it.

  • Lisa Hinman

The Illinois Senate impeached Blagojevich without any prove that I know of. Are they afraid that it is going to implicate Obama? We have Tim Giethner that does not pay his taxes and he gets away with it. Obama said that Tim made a mistake. The average person would be in jail by now. How do these officials get away with all this shit? Unbelievable!!!

  • Tuppence411

Now, I may not be a high flootin’ financial wizard like Tim- but even I know when I get handed a 1099 at the end of the year instead of a W-2; I owe freakin taxes! Including self-employment taxes.

  • Annie Oakley

Not a doubt he did it intentionally. He got a quarterly check from the IMF to cover his “self employment” tax! Such a deal. Still, this wasn’t enough and the creep pocketed it. No way, no how that this should be the standard. Is he being prosecuted or at least fined for this tax evasion?

  • Annie Oakley

Nooooo, those 1099 are clues for little people. Members of the NY Fed eat prosecutors for breakfast.

  • Sassy

BO has been very busy meeting with all the influential this week.
He will probably have a clean sweep with his nominees.
BTW, did anyone else see a small article about Joe the plumber going to Israel for 10 days to report on the war?

  • Lisa Hinman

Sassy, Yes Joe, is either in Istral now or he is going to go. I saw it on FOx.

  • Retired

Unless I miss my guess, Geithner either (a) wasn’t required to complete the celebrated Obama administration screening questionnaire, or (b) left a few key things out of his answers. Either way, the President-elect comes off looking a bit ridiculous.

  • Vonnegut

He didn’t make 50 million people “identify and feel safe with” him.

    Try 70.

    :-)

  • Vonnegut

He didn’t get a 1099. He got a W-2, but was still responsible for self-employment taxes. That’s a special thing about working for certain international organizations like IMF.

That’s also why the IRS, in response to a lot of people getting tripped up by this, in 2006 and 2007 decided to waive penalties for any employees of certain international organizations who paid these taxes late.

  • http://noquarter foxyladi14

he still has his nose in the air tho..lol
