“Bla-go, Bla-go, Bla-go-je-vich” & “Write a Song For G-Rod” Contest & An Open Thread

I got love in my heart. Do you?

Hey, did you all catch Jay’s friend, a great singer and songwriter, last night on his show. Listen especially to the opening minutes when Jay plays one of his friend’s great protest songs. The song lasts about six minutes — worth every minute.

And what else is going on in the world?

    Does Israeli Intelligence Lie?

    by Ira Chernus

All of the suffering in Gaza – indeed, all of the suffering endured by Palestinians under Israeli occupation for the last eight years – could have been avoided if Israel negotiated a peace agreement with Yasser Arafat when it had the chance, in 2001.

What chance? The official Israeli position is that there was no chance, “no partner for peace.” That’s what Israeli leaders heard from their Military Intelligence (MI) service in 2000 after the failure of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations at Camp David. Arafat scuttled those talks, MI told the leaders, because he was planning to set off a new round of violence, a second intifada.

Now former top officials of MI say the whole story, painting Arafat as a terrorist out to destroy Israel, was an intentional fiction. That’s the most explosive finding in an investigative report just published in Israel’s top newspaper, Ha’aretz, by one of its finest journalists, Akiva Eldar.

Favorite melody from the clip: “Every morning I look in the mirror and brush my luscious hair”

    LOL!

“WASHINGTON – The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted overwhelmingly on Thursday for Hillary Rodham Clinton to become the next secretary of State, endorsing President-elect Barack Obama’s promise to take U.S. foreign policy in a new direction.

The 16-1 committee vote paves the way for a full Senate vote after Obama takes office on Jan. 20. Clinton is not expected to hit any major roadblocks, with Republicans and Democrats alike praising her acumen on the issues.”

Just curious, did anyone else catch that Bush is going to declare an emergency for the inauguration so that he could tap into FEMA funds to help pay for security? And then (I’m adjusting my tinfoil hat right now) this new audio tape of Bin Laden shows up the same day?

    more off topic:

“A whopping 94% of the public support or strongly support the operation while 92% think it benefits Israel’s security, according to the Tel Aviv University survey.”

I don’t know, I sorta like guy. The people of Illinois have voted for corruption since forever so why pick on this guy. He is charismatic,I wish one of the contestants would have wrote a song what a shooting star he is, what might have been if his false lovers hadn’t been seduced by Obama. Its is a country western – my pick up broke down, Ma is in jail, the dog is dead.

He is the anti-Obama the more songs the better. Keep him in the spot light.

You forgot trains, and tears falling into your beer.

This is a totally useless observation, but they way he jogs is odd.

  • oowawa

    (steel guitar intro)

You Might have me up against the wall,
But you’ll never break me down.
Not gonna cry & let you laugh at me
    Like some sad-eyed circus clown;

Might be just another crooked politician
    From the state of Illinois,
But you can bite my butt Fitzgerald,
I won’t be your whipping boy.

Okay, let the royalties start rolling in.

and going to prison and getting drunk….
    hehe

    Two things:

It’s interesting the timing of the release of that document stating Barack’s view on gay marriage from 1996. No doubt to assuage the leftist net roots over Pastor Warren. As expected, the leftists are hoodwinked into assuming this is the One’s real position on the matter (think political expediency, leftists – and empty-suit – therein lies your answer).

And second, Barack writes an oh-so-sweet letter to his daughters just prior to his official ascension. An “open letter” of course – the One never fails to use any one or any thing to his political benefit.

  • oowawa

    An “open letter” of course

Why do my cynical suspicious old bones suspect Favreau had a hand in writing the letter.

  • TR

I’d say it is very nearly a certainty that you are right.

  • oowawa

    Shame on you, Mr. Obama.

I got NO love in my heart for The One–especially after Cheerleader Diane Rehm’s show today. I had NPR on the car radio for the 2-minute drive to Subway for lunch. Her guest was the author of a book on the topic of American “Exceptionalism”. Diane read a listener’s email question: ‘Is there any other developed nation on earth where the son of an immigrant could become president? It took the author (English, I believe) about 15 seconds to respond ‘uh, FRANCE. Sarkozy’s parents were Hungarian”.

What I object to was Diane not correcting the romantic image the word “immigrant” conjures up when we know in fact, Daddy-O was nothing more than an alien drive-by sperm donor (if, in fact, he was). Am I right-headed on this?

  • oowawa

    an alien drive-by sperm donor

But-but-but-what about the gleam in his parents’ eyes that was ignited on the streets of Selma during the civil rights march in 1965 which grew, ignited, and flamed into his birth in 1961?

Honestly Judy, you make it sound so unromantic.

  • Judy L. NC

LOL…yeah, I’ve been accused of that before.

  • Steve1

It would be very interesting! I beleieve that Blago has some very GOOD SHIT, on Barry Soetoro and as the good Rev Manning likes to refer to Soetoro’s wife , “she looks like King Kong’s baby sister,” Michelle. This Soetoro, AKA, Obama drama is going to be very interesting, as it plays itself out> I think, the drama Queen, Soetoro is making deals as we discuss this situation. It is the cover-ups that always get them! Go, Blago, pay-to-play!

  • Steve1

Judy, our country is wonderful! But, too bad the majority of us have been hoodwinked into voting for “that one!” Where is his original BC? The powers that be, have taken over our wonderful system. Hopefully, as time goes by, majority of Americans will open their minds? Maybe , we will realize we have to take back our country from the crooks who have highjacked our democracy.

  • Anna

Don’t I wish, Steve1, but I think you are in fantasyland. The media is in luuuvvvvv … and they will continue covering up until after Armageddon. You will have to content yourself with the blogs.
