Did Obama’s love save those lives in NYC?

Ugh, but I must give credit where it is due. As first reported by Rush, the largest slime ball on the planet.

It appears that it may not have been skill or luck that saved those people in New York yesterday. Further examination of the pilot and crew reveal that the pilot Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger and a majority of the passengers are devout followers of his Oliness, Barack Obama the First and Most Magnificient.

Their combined hope and bouyant attitdude heading into the coronation week was most likely responsible for bringing the plane safely down, within eyesight of the Port Authority bus terminal.

The news media, in their rush to get photos and video online were a little lax in their inspection of the photos that New Yorkers were submitting. For example, this popular image below, when enlarged, reveals a strange phenomenon in the sky above New York.

The floating halo seems to be casting its light upon the plane and passengers.

NASA investigators are studying the photo and will have a report within six months.

Why . . . it’s amazing! I have read this blog regularly over the last several months, and I could not help but notice that some of the commentors tend to be sarcastic and snarky at times. Perhaps this will shut them up! This miraculous phenomenon belongs on the cover of the Weekly World News!

I am really glad this all worked out so well..They say the pilot was an Experienced glider pilot which may have Helped with such a Sucessful and rare landing on Water..

I’ll second that. He, the crew, all the wonderful New Yorkers who came to their rescue and the passengers who stayed calm deserve a loud cheer.

I wonder how many other air liners would glide like that?

Come to think of it, do you remember when WWN’s front page displayed a picture of the smoke rising from the twin towers, curling into a likeness of Satan’s visage? Beholding this heavenly phenomenon, appearing so close to The One’s inauguration, sends a clear signal to all of us: the evil days are behind us; this is the dawning of the age of . . . the Verge of History!

Am I the only one puzzled why jet engines don’t come equipped with bug screens as standard equipment? I mean, how much would titanium or carbon-fiber nets over the air intakes cost? Geese would bounce off like they’d been smacked with a 200 MPH tennis racket. Higher speed bird collisions aren’t really an issue. By the time passenger jets are up over 200 MPH, they’re already they’re way above the altitude any goose not equipped with an oxygen mask can reach.

Interesting idea…in the 90′s we noticed that some Soviet fighter-bombers were equipped with inlet doors on the fuselage-mounted engines which could close and only admit air to the TOP of the engine nacelle thru a set of louvers which avoided the birds/runway-debris-in-the-intakes problem…after liftoff the doors swung up inside the engine compartment and air came in straight ahead….Navy men can remember walking the length of an airstrip picking up every leaf, twig and pebble that could get sucked into an F14 on takeoff….clever of those godless Bolsheviks!

I was saying to my husband that it’s too bad Obama didn’t claim to be Catholic because if He had this non-fatal event would have counted as a miracle, and thus He would be on the road toward canonization. BTW, has Obama’s image miraculously appeared on any toast or building lately?

On another note, if this non-fatal accident is a sign of anything it is that EXPERIENCE and MATURITY matter as qualifications for anyone at the helm.

Strangely, I was reading through the collection of the 2008 Best Essays collection and ran across a line in a piece written by Charles Simic. The essay was about his Serbian ties and the craziness he witnessed occurring in the 90′s, things he wrote about from afar [and then, was accused of being a "renegade," or worse a CIA spy--when in doubt pull out the CIA card].

In any case, he quotes something his grandmother taught him, something that stuck as a kid growing up in post World War II, impossibly impoverished Yugoslavia:

“Beware of the so-called ‘great leaders’ and the collective euphorias they often excite.”

A blast from the past. That line jumped right out at me.

Simic’s grandmother may turn out to be a genuine prophet!

Peggy Sue, all of my in-laws were refugees from post-WWII Yugoslavia. They suffered under the Germans, the Russians, and finally under Tito’s Partisans. The horror in that region of Europe was extreme. If any people have a right to warn us about “the great leaders and the collective euphorias they often excite,” it is these populations.
