I think Kaufman was absolutely right and justified in his comments. A shame there are not more like him.

Far more powerful is this video of British MP Kaufman’s speech put to music and accompanied by images of what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians. A picture speaks a thousand words! So many people are afraid to even open their minds a crack to considering that what Israel is doing is VERY WRONG. So many people are quick to call anyone who criticizes the Israelis an antisemite. My grandparents were orthodox Jews who also fled Poland before WWII, just as Sir Kaufman’s parents did. Sir Kaufman is not an antisemite, and neither am I. There are many people of Jewish descent, living within Israel and living outside of Israel, who feel strongly that what Israel is doing to the Palestinians is an outrage. None of us are antisemites. That the U.S. blindly supports Israel and that the U.S. gives Israel 3 Billion US dollars a year, one-fourth of our entire foreign aid budget, is the result of soulless political decisions.

The phrase “self-hating Jew” has many connotations but in the case of Kaufman it fits to a tee, and your dismossive tone speaks is simply of someone too weak minded to make a lucid argument. The other “self-hating Jews” among us attack Israel and don’t give a crap about Judaism either. Simply being born as a Jew and eating knishes dosen’t give them cover when the tenets of Judaism mean nothing to them, they are about as Jewish as Madonna is Catholic. When it comes to the daily strictures of Judaism, these “Jews” can’t be found, but as soon as it becomes politically convienient to tout their Judaism, there they are waving their birth certificate or touting their families victimizaton.
