God’s Candidate: Huckabee

Earlier this month, Huckabee claimed God had him surging ahead in the polls. Watch the video above.

Now Huckabee is again invoking God with a strategically placed cross in his latest TV ad, which even has the Catholic League criticizing him for “injecting God into politics.”

If God is going to choose the next president, who are we to vote against what God wants?

The egocentricity of such blather always blows my mind. It’s like people who survive a disaster in which many died — they say God saved them for some purpose and protected them. So did God hate all the people who died in the disaster?

If Huckabee drops in the polls, does that mean Satan wants him to lose? If Huckabee is only polling at 16%, as opposed to Giuliani’s 27%, does that mean the polls should be talking to God? And if God is going to choose the next president, what happens to free will?

When he drops in the polls and doesn’t become the nominee, he’ll say that God has another purpose for him.

(i.e., they always have an answer, no matter what happens.)

WHen fascism comes to america, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving a bible. For any criminals here, become good friends with a baptist minister, Huckabee loves to pardon folks who have baptist minister friends, if that is not possible, make sure to loudly find God during your incarceration.

you’re both right though. I’m to the right of most people here and am fine with displays of religous faith, but this is very cheap. It looks like he is running for Grand Wizard of the KKK. I can’t wait to hear him explain it via a painfully unfunny joke.

It appears to work very well when used upon then governor Huckabee.
Granted too that he had a very soft spot in his heart for rapists if they raped Clinton relatives.

Dr. Paul is a honourable and chivalrous and polite man. That he got what was a Fox “gotcha” question and turned it elegantly against them was nice. I personally don’t think it was the OPTIMAL response to give those clowns, but it works.
( Honest admission, I saw Dr. Paul’s comment long before I posted in this thread, saw him on CNN and Morning Whoever too.)
Face it, the Cross has been used by every two bit huckster and Thumper on the Grift. Mussolini used it, the national socialists used it, Billy Sunday used it, Lincoln used it. Every snake oil salesman that crawls out of the mire uses it. Give me that old time Cross and Bible thumping and let me keep my 10%. Today the techniques are a bit more sophisticated, the visuals a bit less grotesque but the result is the same. 10% for God goes through some Thumper’s hands and stays there. The difference between the Bellagio and a Mega-Church…at the Bellagio you might get a payout. hmmmm I think I just ranted, excuse me while I find my silk hairshirt.

as one raised in this evangelical faith i have to say…I am so sick of these snake oil salesmen bilking the elderly ( like my mother) and every downtrodden human they can get their hands on in the name of the father , the son and the holy spirit..
God has NOTHING to do with these charlatans and I hope for once Americans will see through this BS and call them on it the second they start with this “God has anointed me” crap

God isn’t going to choose the next President, just like God did not choose the last one.The last one was appointed, contrary to the Constitution, and after extensive illegal interfenence with voting, and he was put there by a bunch of idiots.

And if Huck becomes President, it will be same – idiots appointing one of their own. And Huck has shown, like Bush before him, he doesn’t care if the idiots are criminals besides. Maybe he’ll appoint his animal-torturing kids to human rights commissions or something. Or he’ll find some pervs to pardon so they can teach kids about sex. I can see it now: “No Child’s Behind Left.”

Whatever it is, rest assured, God has nothing to do with it. It’s the delusions of idiots that gives it its momentum, nothing else.

good question leslie..that’s the problem with mixing politics with religion..
the church doesn’t need politics and politics doesn’t need religion.. ‘render unto..’ and all that stuff.
But you know we’ll sometimes elect an actor.
or a ex-cia chief, baseball owner and failed oil man, a nuclear submarine captain and peanut farmer, Small southern state Governor, Statesman, Generals,
and lord knows who else..but a Baptist minister?
Right now the GOP is disfunctional and have lost thier way.. I’m so glad we have stopped talking about the Dems short comings here and have started tearing into those lying GOP right wing war mongers.
I’ll take any dem over any right wing nut anytime anyplace..period. The Democratic party is the party of the people..The rich, the poor, religious, gay, straight, farmers and corporate types..We have a big tent with lots of different folks..But we love america and each other’s opinion..We are a majority party that doesn’t always vote.. This coming year we all need to vote and change the direction of america. The Hoopster is ranting..I’m so sorry.

When our country was young with only a few million people..we had Washingtons, Jeffersons, hamiltons, Franklins, Adams..and endless list of honorable, noblemen of revolution and forward thinking.. Today we live in a country of 300 million citizens..
Name a Thomas jefferson, Teddy, JFK..Truman..
