The Obama Express, 20 MPH?

Jon Stewart understands that worshiping the Golden Child has its limits and that humor is the god Stewart must obey. Did you see this?

And what about Bush and Cheney?

We can’t forget the really big Dick:

George Bush, Good Riddance. You clearly did not know dick.

  • truthtelling007

    Good Riddance Dick,

Dick Cheney Wheeled out of White House

And George Bush has left the White House

I’ll start celebrating when 0mama leaves. Wheel chair would be fine, but we know it won’t be from hard work!

    • destardi

Cornyn is holding up Hillary’s confirmation…I sent a nice letter in via his homepage.

Why does this guy have to try to prevent a woman who was almost President, and way more qualified to be President than Obama, from helping out Sir Scamalot?

      • Animal Control

        Sir Scamalot

        Like it

    • mountainaires

If I cannot be overwhelmed with the joy of the Obots today, I can be overwhelmingly happy to see the back of Dick Cheney and G.W. Bush. Now, that is something worth celebrating. Hallelujah, Amen. The end.

      • Mary

        Agree completely, mountainaires.

        Hallelujah, Amen. The end.

        • BernieO

          Count me in.

    • Phantom Dick

I hope the IRS audits Dick’s bank accounts…

I wish I could enjoy Jon Stewart again. I enjoyed the daily show for many years. Now it made me feel queasy to watch those clips. I did chuckle a bit, but still it is laughing while wanting to cry. It will take alot for Jon Stewart to win me back. Alot.

  • SFIndie

Way too little, way too late, for me to consider ever watching Jon Stewart again.

    • beebop

I couldn’t agree more. I couldn’t even finish watching it. Jon is so last election cycle.

      • Dawnelle

        pretty much

        • http://firefox AnnieCollier

          So pre-historic.

    OT

Can anyone clarify something for me. Did anyone see if the Pledge of Alligiance was initiated. I did not see it at all. I backed up the TV and nowhere did I see it. Aretha sang the National Anthem but no pledge. I was wondering if someone on the ground in WA DC can confirm this since they may have edited it. ( If that is possible on live remote)

    • Mandelay

Sorry, didn’t see a Pledge of Allegiance in the ceremony and don’t know if it’s usually done. Aretha Franklin sang “My Country ’tis of Thee” and I think the National Anthem will conclude the ceremony if I read the schedule correctly. The name of “God” was included in the Oath of Office if you were wondering about the outcome of that controversy. I’ve been watching C-Span so I think they covered all that was done so far. Hope this helps.

  • Mandelay

Cannot believe the partisan tone of this speech. What the hell is he thinking? I expected some nice fluffy “soaring” rhetoric, not a laundry list of what he apparently perceives as Bush’s mistakes. I guess you can blame your predecessor during the first six months, but doing that from this podium on this particular day is shameful.

    • beebop

That’s all he’s got. He ain’t got anything else.

    • wodiej

      I agree…

    • SFIndie

I didn’t watch the speech, I simply can’t be that cruel to myself. But since it sounds like he made a point of bringing up all of Bush’s mistakes, does this mean he’s changed his mind about holding Bush/Cheney accountable for all those mistakes? Or is it more of BigO’s empty words…..”look at all the terrible things Bush did, but let’s look forward now, and by the way, please remember all these terrible things Bush did so that when you compare them to the crap things I’ll do, I won’t seem so bad.”

Yeah, I vote for the empty words, too.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

    Who’s Jon Stewart?

And for that matter, who’s Barack Obama?

Do you believe everything that comes out of the indoctrination box labeled TV?

    • wodiej

Barack Obama is Abe Lincoln, no JFK, no MLK, no FDR…..

  • http://noquarterusa No-nonsense-Nancy

I coudn’t stomach watching any of it or listening to his speech. I’m having a vey nauseating day. I’ll read the speech on NQ or somewhere but couldn’t listen to it. I’m one with the belief that he is not elidegible for POTUS and therefore has put us in a constitutional crisis. I was among those trying to prevent his inauguation.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

The only thing comedic one needs to participate in today is learning how to say:

    “Barack Obama” while belching.

    “Ralph” has been replaced.

    • wodiej

      LOL…

I didn’t watch it. I had to go to the break room at work to get my lunch and some zombie kool aid drinkers were down there watching it. I got out of there as fast as possible

  • Gary McGowan

    FUNNY!

Thank God for people who can make me laugh.

Thanks a quadrillion for posting those.

  • CarlyinNJ

Jon Stewert was right on target and the humor was a great relief. I must differ with Jon’s jests about Philly; it is a gritty working class city – but Philadelphia is a wonderful and a truly historical place.

I couldn’t listen to President BHO; particularly NOT today, but if Mandelay has his number then he is preparing everyone for the DISAPPOINTMENT of the Century.

According to President BHO, I thought we were not looking back (I guess that was when he was President Elect BHO). Now he has laid the foundation for his excuses to come for NOT getting us out of the mess we are in (like he promised (actually lied) in order to get the position of POTUS. How could we possibly expect him to overcome these terrible obstacles? Not even the Golden One (the great impersonator) can do that.

Guess he is not FDR after all!!

    • Phantom Dick

I agree, I think, out of all the “comedians,” Stewart will be able to intelligently crack the narcissistic bubble around Obama.

Did you hear the applause when he mockingly said “the king and queen of America?”

Stupid people, whether democratic, or republican.

  • Diana L. C.

I am avoiding t.v. and radio all day today. I, too, can’t be that cruel to myself. Much as I am happy to see our pet monkey, W, go along with his big Dick, I am seiting here at my computer wondering which is worse: the Devil we really know or the one we’ve tried to learn about and can’t get the information on.

My poor uncle is going to drive himself into an early grave over the One. I am still getting emails all the time about his concerns over O.

I just want this stupid hoopla over–and with that I can agree with Stewart (couldn’t believe that he would slice in footish that might appear to be racist) but loved the footish of “Biden” running to catch the train.).

Then we can settle in to watching and keeping the One’s nose to the grindstone, something that he’s never had to do before. Do you think he’ll be vacationing in Hawaii as much as Bush was in Crawford?

    • Diana L. C.

Sorry–typing is awful “sitting” and “footage.”

    • Chicago Joe

I wasn’t going to watch either, but in the spirit of post-partisan politics, I looked on. Totally not impressed. The best thing about it was the weeMichelles, who are always cute, and the music, notwithstanding Aretha’s demolition of My Country ‘Tis of Thee. Loved her hat though.

  • wodiej

on talk radio they said Obama said in his speech “it’s time for whites to do right”….OMG…

    • BernieO

He didn’t say that. It was the minister who gave the benediction at the end.

      • candymarl

Ah, the “white guilt prayer”. Let me look that up in the bible. Nope, can’t find it. The race card keeps playing. Sigh.

  • BernieO

I love the pictures of the hats. Did you see Teddy’s hat today? I thought it was bad until I saw Poppa Bush’s.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I couldn’t believe the Senators in baseball caps! Ick.

  • Clara Barton

I was determined to be far, far away from that coronation, so am spending several days in the Carribean and I haven’t turned on the tube once. The only way I have a glimmer of what’s happening is through NQ and a few friendly emails. It still enough to cause gastric upset. I don’t guess its possible that I can stay away for 4 years, especially since I left my 3 sweet, innocent dogs at home. Don’t feel a bit more hopeful today than I felt at the beginning of the Bush termm 8 years ago.

  • Clara Barton

Edit: It is still enough to cause gastric upset, and Bush term, not termm.

  • Chris Martin

I’m glad Bush/Cheney is out of the white house. I wish, though, I could genuinely feel relief. I have no idea the trajectory our nation is headed in thanks to a media unwilling to ask even rudimentary questions.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Didn’t watch the big event but saw the mingling afterward. Who is the minister who made the crack about Whites? What was Rick Warrens prayer like?
