No he can’t dance…slow or otherwise.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

      Okay, so:

      1) he didn’t practice the oath of office

      2) he didn’t practice dancing – even people with two left feet, like me, can dance slow. Wow. That was funny.

      • DisenfranchisedVoter

He should’ve found the time to take ballroom dance lessons. A few hours each week would’ve helped him immensely. Neither he nor Michelle knows how to dance well :(

      • UKforDems

Wow the PUMAs not only remain bitter but are getting more hypocritical by the day. They complained about the sexism against Hillary and then Plain (as if Palin was in any way connected). Then make comments like:-

“That one can’t talk or dance and the faux lady doesn’t class from her azz.”
“Michelle looked horrible in that green Grinch costume with the lime green gloves.”
“I can’t imagine how those kids were conceived. As a couple they just don’t look real to me. Especially when they were shuffling back and forth…looked like a charade.”
“Michelle looked like she was wearing a white tent to the ball…Her butt stuck out.”

And how many of you hate Caroline Kennedy for her support of Obama? Oh a good percentage

        • Seattle Moss

Caroline is somebody that has ignored politics most of her life probably because of the pain of what happened to her father, For that she is rough around the edges and uses too many word whiskers in her speech.
Hillary on the other hand is a far more educated and experienced and would have been a fine president and will be a great SOS.
Considering that my families roots come from Rhode island where Jackie grew up and knew my mother. plus the fact that John John was born on the same day as me two weeks after the election of 1960 I have some personal interest in Caroline. I just don’t think she rises to the demands of the job
However, if Paterson chooses like he is likely to do I will support in the interests of advancing women Caroline.

          • Lessa

As an upstate New Yorker, I will be very disappointed if Caroline is anointed. That appointment would be purely political and not in any way indicative of her understanding of New York State, (not just New York City). If she were to be congresswoman from Long Island or the Hamptons I would say fine. What does she know if Indian Gaming, or the main problem facing residences of Adams, New York. Has she been to Watertown, does she know where Lake Napoleon sits and what its significance is? Hillary spent many days upstate, talking to the people, knowing the issues. Caroline didn’t even bother to vote half the time. Her appointment will not be in the best interest of the people of New York, which by the way, is the point of the job she suddenly wants. There are several way more qualified individuals who don’t belong to ‘royalty’.

        • DisenfranchisedVoter

Criticizing someone because they can’t dance or because they lack any fashion sense isn’t sexist. I don’t speak for everyone on here as they do not speak for me. I think Michelle is an attractive woman who has gained a bit of weight (nothing wrong with that or having a big booty!). However, the white dress did not flatter her at all and it probably would’ve looked bad on most women too. It looked like a toga and for an inauguration ball, it revealed a bit much for the first lady. Most of us wanted her to look good. I thought she’d pick something that would make her look regal but it was not classy at all. And it’s going into the Smithsonian for all of eternity so you’d think she would’ve put more time and effort into picking the perfect dress.

          • UKforDems

This is what NQ posters said of the criticism behind Palin spending $150k on clothes.

Aren’t jerk and trolls kind of the same thing?

            • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Whever the stylist was (picked by and paid for by the RNC) she chose styles that were entirely appropriate for Sarah Palin. She looked classic, classy and put together. She has a petite figure and everything she put on was sized to her frame. She wouldn’t have looked good in the petite size of either of the MEchille dresses either. It was a bigger error for MEchille because she is a tall woman with huge hips. There are ways to design and fit a woman with her shape to make her look elegant and balanced. The clothing designers she has chosen do not work. Simple as that. We all want her to look good whether we like her personality or not. Same with BHO. We don’t like him. We don’t trust him but do we want him to succeed in bringing the country back to prosperity? Why would we not? It’s money back in my pocket if he succeeds. Whether it’s self interest of hope for the country, we all want him to come up with the right people to bring about the right results.

You just don’t like hearing people speak their truth; you’d prefer group think ala HuffPo so why don’t you just go back there?

I have news for you, Mr. Know-it-all: I think she is unqualified–just like the one you worship. It has nothing whatsoever to do with who she supported. I know you like to make a lot of hasty and false generalizations, such as the one above. I saw the link and upon closer look, there is something that bothers me. Her yellow dress is not haute couture. Isabel Toledo should have used a better lining for her flowing coat. The white lining looks like it is home made by an amateur seamstress.. You can even see the side seams… Any student of fashion design would agree that the dress will get a failing mark

hey everybody, I have finally come to peace with seeing obama in the white house. And that is because there is a chance that Condi Rice for a seconds was in fact the first black female president. And while the news media may never acknowledge it. I am so proud of Ms Rice. Congrats Madam PResident, for a few breif seconds the glass ceiling the was broken. and not only is ms rice, but her ancestors like mine, survived slavory and remained human while experiencing the most inhuman of circumstances. • Peggy Sue

      I agree, wodiej!

  • Elsie

The video is not very clear. Pardon me but I don’t think the music really is appropriate for dancing.. I suspect no one can dance to that tune. The music is more for listening than for dancing. You can see Obama nodding his head…But even his nodding did not synchronize with the tune. I am a bit surprise that a Black man could not dance to soul music or blues or whatever type of music it is called. Wow it is a proud moment for all the African Americans and whites are no where to be seen. This is not their moment.. I may sound racist but the actions do speak louder than words.

So okay those coming to this site criticizing those of us who find this site as our only place to voice our disgust, disappointment, disapproval, dismay or whatever dis word there might be in the English language, are out of bounds. We can and should express our opinions and UKforDems just don’t get it.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

The song is a perfect ballad for dancing cheek to cheek. He just doesn’t know how to do a Two-Step. Most people under 50 have never been taught. Ballroom dancing isn’t all Fred and Ginger.

When we had music, art and dance taught as a matter of course in public schools, everyone knew how to move on the dance floor. In my school, we (females and male alike) knew how to Foxtrot, Two-Step, Tango (not the Argentine Tango), Waltz, Cha-Cha and Rhumba before beginning high school. Social clubs and Home Economics had classes in deportment and table manners. If you didn’t have a family versed in these things, schools trained you so you could be comfortable in social situations. When Rock & Roll became more popular, we began single dancing and not many are comfortable with traditional ballroom now. I do see dance classes being offered though and it would be nice to see a resurgence of manners and social niceties. Manners, are nothing more than thinking first of the comfort of others before your own. Barack didn’t help his wife with her chair at the luncheon yesterday but Paul Pelosi did…we notice these things. Good manners are an international language and will open many doors. Misogynistic Rap does not lend itself to good manners.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Ps: “At Last” was danced to in the 40′s with the Big Bands and in the 60′s I danced to it sung by Billy Eckstine at a rare live performance with a dance floor; and by Ella Fitzgerald at the SF Fairmont Venetian Room. Later, my favorite was Etta James. They haven’t made a version that’s not danceable…if you know how. Everyone should learn how to dance to that most romantic ballad.

Thought the mustard yellow outfit was atrocious — don’t know of many who can pull off that color and the cut made MO look dowdy.

The white gown looked very pretty from afar but when seen close up, I agree that all of those pouffies seemed a bit silly. All in all, that one was not a disaster however and I thought that the general look was much better for her and a vast improvement over that black/red job she wore on election night.

    Obama sworn in, Blagojevich fingerprinted
Posted by Jeff Coen and Monique Garcia at 5:53 p.m.; updated at 6:30 p.m.

    Excerpt

On a day when President Barack Obama raised his hand to take the oath of office, Gov. Rod Blagojevich was back at the federal courthouse putting his hand down for another set of fingerprints.

The governor, charged with political corruption, was fingerprinted again because the quality of the first set of prints taken last month was not considered good enough, sources said.

The fingerprinting inside the federal courthouse came on a Blagojevich visit to pretrial services that his attorneys characterized as routine. The governor’s attorneys noted that the governor is required to appear at the offices whenever directed. His lead lawyer, Edward Genson, was not present.

The appearance on the 15th floor of the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse came as Blagojevich failed to answer impeachment charges, meaning the Illinois Senate plans to enter a “not guilty” plea on his behalf.

Blagojevich attorney Sheldon Sorosky said today the governor’s legal team filed no appearance or response to today’s 4 p.m. Senate deadline.

    FYI

    http://wcsnblogs.com/olympics/alanabrahamson/alanabrahamson/2009/01/20/the-44th-president/

    Olympic Insider by Alan Abrahamson

    EXCERPT:

The new president now must confront an extraordinary array of challenges. An extraordinary array of constituencies awaits, too, to see the direction these United States move under his leadership.

Among those constituencies will be the delegates of the International Olympic Committee, who on Oct. 2 will pick the site of the 2016 Summer Games, choosing Chicago, Tokyo, Madrid or Rio de Janeiro.

It is far too much on this Inauguration Day to proclaim that the pick of the 2016 Games marks one of the new president’s immediate priorities. It does not, and should not; he surely will be occupied with matters of different gravity. Soon enough, however, the IOC vote will approach, and one of the fascinating things to watch will be the role that the president, from Chicago, opts to play in the IOC decision.

The past two IOC votes have proven unequivocally that the appearance of a head of state can make the deciding difference in an IOC election. Tony Blair, then the prime minister of Britain, appeared in Singapore at the 2005 IOC vote for the 2012 Summer Games; London won. Vladimir Putin, then the president and now the prime minister of Russia, appeared in Guatemala City at the 2007 IOC vote for the 2014 Winter Games; Sochi won.

No American president has made such an appearance before the IOC. Will Obama?

No one knows. Just last week, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley called Obama the “quarterback” of the city’s 2016 bid team. Still, will Obama appear in Copenhagen, site of the 2016 decision, in October? No one knows.

Interesting editorial. Follow link for continuation.

MEchelle needs to learn how to dance in a ballgown. She is First Lady after all. She was way to focused and concerned over the hem of her dress. It’s only a THING. I would hope she doesn’t do that with a King or Prime Minister at a State Dinner.

Seems to me the Obama’s can’t meet the high expectations of the MSM has placed upon them. After hearing for a year how MEchelle is the new Jackie O- her outfits were generally panned. Barky’s speech was called ho-hum. Funny because it was the only speech of his that I have listen to the whole thing. I didn’t have to leave the room to vomit, throw things at the TV or shut it off. He dialed back the “hypnotic crap” and over the top rhetoric he usually does. The MSM was disappointed. I found it tolerable for once.

  • Sassy

This “off-the-wall” theory keeps running through my head.
The cons got conned, and BO is the fall guy!
“He’s unelectable”. “We won’t be running our strongest candidate”. “Leave it to democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory”.
Conservatives like Will and Brooks riding the BO express.
Reportedly, 20% of republicans did not vote.
I will be watching to see if the republicans go “belly-up” and play possumm until 2010!

  • Patience

Since the Obama PR machine has tried to paint Michelle as the new Jackie O, I think comments about her sense of style are more than fair game. Where’s Mr. Blackwell when we need him?

Anyway, until a couple of years ago, she was just plain out and out fugly but she got a decent makeover and looks much better now. She can appear quite attractive at times. However, the inauguration ensemble was very unflattering (made her look heavier), underwhelming as a fashion statement (which seems to be a mission of hers), and so generally missed the mark. Loved the green gloves though. The ball gown was another bad choice, also unflattering and would probably only look decent on a woman about 25 pounds lighter. The look came dangerously close to that of a drag queen since she’s a big woman and thus frilliness doesn’t suit her (no offense meant to drag queens btw).

Bottom line: the Empress needs new clothes and a new stylist if she wants to become a true fashion icon.

    • Mo from Texas

I can see your point, and fashion is art when created by someone who can actually design, but I remember how Clinton was denigrated, and I found it appalling.

So, I give first ladies a break.

But the designers, I guess, are fair game.

The daytime outfit style was right for the occassion- a sheath, matching jacket and coat. But the cut was wrong for her body type and the color and fabric was just horrible. The gown- uggh- wrong silohette(sp) and color for her. The clothes are wearing MEchelle, instead of the other way around.

She needs to take a page from Hillary’s play book. At 60 Hillary is more beautiful and confident than ever before in her life.

      • KintheNorthwest

It seems that many of her supporters even feel the same way about the outfit. From what I have seen the voting was not too bad but the comments were http://extratv.warnerbros.com/2009/01/michelle_is_golden_in_isabel_t.php?page=2

As I said earlier I felt she looked good in the daytime dress but it was the wrong time and place for somethng so glittery and of those colors.
Like some one said above the ball gown was wearing her not her wearing it. wow.

  • politicsIsdirty

So we spent 150 million in the President’s inauguration…money that could have put to good use esp for the hungry americans. But of course the obamabots don’t care as long as their chosen one is in power and the one spending it.

And most blacks even the not well to do are happy with spending their hard earned tax dollars for the President as long as their own kind is in power. Shall I say racist?

How much tax dollars did we spend in her wardrobe and what was the cost of make up and hair? That is just the start. They will try their best to make her face look good (makeover) and spend a lot of money for it.

    I agree with Patience….
Her thick shoulders can’t deny the fact that she is overweight.

Alone among networks, Fox News gives Bush homecoming cheer

      EXCERPTS:

Late Tuesday afternoon, Fox News was the only major national TV outlet that carried a live telecast of former President Bush’s homecoming speech to cheering supporters in Midland, Texas

      .

The rest of the networks, however, did not see the Bush address as news fit to broadcast. At 6:40 p.m. EST, MSNBC was in the middle of “Hardball,” with host Chris Matthews and guests batting around the meaning of Obama’s swearing-in. CNN was carrying live ongoing coverage of the final moments of the inaugural parade, with the Obamas beaming from the White House reviewing stand.

The broadcast networks likewise did not cover the Bush speech. At least in Los Angeles, both KCBS-Channel 2 and KNBC-Channel 4 had returned to regular syndicated programming (“Judge Judy” and “Deal or No Deal”). KABC-Channel 7 was airing local news.

Some trivia about the song from Wikipedia:

“At Last!” is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film Orchestra Wives, starring George Montgomery and Ann Rutherford. It was first performed in the film and on record by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, vocal by Ray Eberle & Pat Friday. The song was a major hit for Miller, reaching number fourteen on the Billboard pop charts in 1942, and it soon became a standard. Nat King Cole recorded it in 1957 on his number one album Love Is the Thing. In 1960, it was covered by blues singer Etta James in a performance that improvised on Warren’s melody. James was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 for her rendition of the song.[1]

I question the wisdom of having Beyonce sing the song. She does a very passable version (indeed, she plays Etta James in the new movie Cadillac Records. However, she is too drop-dead gorgeous to stand her up so close to Michelle. A better choice might have been Etta James, who at 70 would have made Michelle look better. I guess this choice would have been too old-fashioned.

    • Strawberrybitch

Ouch. But hey, Michelle is FINALLY getting ALL the attention she asked for…how’s the old saying go? Becareful for what you ask for, for you will surely get it? And I’m sorry to all the Obots (not you oowawa) out there, but you can’t go around making jokes about Hillary’s cankles, or Palin’s lipstick and choice of clothing then not expect a bit of payback. You and your generation, not mine, set the stage for the treatment of women, now reap what you sew. And yes, Michelle had a long time to ask Oprah for a few diet tips, this was bigger than her wedding day, put the bloody fork down, and do a few bench dips if you’re going to show your arms off. Giggely triceps are nasty. And if it were me and I wanted to wear that dress and my butt looked that big, I’d have had lipo.

“And if it were me and I wanted to wear that dress and my butt looked that big, I’d have had lipo.”

You’re guess is as good as mine. There are designers all over the world who would be glad to donate their creations to Michelle just to have the publicity. Michelle probably thinks she looks good. Yikes.

      • Strawberrybitch

        Crud your, not you’re.

      • Animal Control

As long as she has her “600 dollar earrings” she doesn’t care

    • Where was Oprah

The outfit for the speech not right for the occassion and time. It was too flashy and the color looked horrid on her.
The ball dress was very ill fitting and looked like it was homemade by an amateur. Reminded me of Carol Burnet’s show where she used drapes for a dress. In this instance it looked like Michelle used a bedspread.

With all of Michelle’s connections, like Oprah, she should have been dressed more appropriately for the occassion.

      • Thinker

Geez, was it that bad? I might have to actually force myself to look at her.

I heard from numerous Michelle Obama supporters that she’s gained too much weight, and they can’t understand how she keeps managing to wear crappy wardrobes.

It’s interesting though. When Palin got a makeover, because as a Governor, didn’t own fancy high priced clothing, she was criticized. But the same media went into and excited feeding frenzy to see who was going to “dress” Michelle. Even Hillary was criticized for wearing too many pants suits, eventhough she looks good in them.

        :)

        • KintheNorthwest

I do agree that with all of their friends such as Oprah Michelle should have been dressed more appropriately for the occassion.
The dress for the sppech would have maybe passed for the ball without the gloves and green shows (maybe another color) It did look nice on her.
The ball dress was just too ill fitting. As someone said it did look like it amateur and homemade.

(Boo hiss to whoever complained that we’re talking about fashion. It matters how our First People look.)

I thought the gold outfit was a bit too, too for the ceremony. It would have been perfect for Caesar’s Palace, but not the inauguration, a more somber occasion. I liked Laura’s beige. And I COVETED (!) Jill Biden’s red coat — oh that is a gorgeous coat! She’s a very striking woman.

The ballgown showed off Michelle’s fit arms, but did not flatter her torso. She needs two colors for the top and bottom and/or a two-piece outfit. I’m tall like she is and two-piece or two colors just looks better on really tall women. Or a lovely blouse and skirt, with a jacket.

Or that dress would have worked better had it not been so white. If it had been a dark blue or navy blue or soft black, it would have been gorgeous. She can also wear chocolate brown — and that might have been a stunning color especially with gold jewelry.

That’s one of the all time favorite Carol Burnett skits…”It’s just a little somethin’ I saw in the winda”….Hahahahaha.

  • Rah-Rah

After reading all of the comments about Michelle’s dress looking like this or that and how they did or didn’t dance…and where they are going to or not going to DO IT, I’m wondering if I was redirected to TMZ or Perez Hilton’s site?

    Good grief.

I’m out for awhile…I’ll be back when civil conversation is restored.

    • AMERICA R.I.P.

Yeah because it’s really mature over at Huffpoop and Daily Kook. ROFLMAO. Grow up. A little humor is necessary in these dark, bleak times troll.

  • Lisabona

The most elementary etiquette,(you don’t have to be ” highclass”) just have a common sense. She came from a solid middle class(not inner city) and her mother should know a teach her how you have to dress” must” in her situation on differit occasions and places. As I hear, her ” designer” was designing weardrop for Barby Dolls. I use to play with Barby, she doesn’t look a Barby, not even close.

    • KintheNorthwest

Sorry but your article reminded me of the lip lock that Obama gave Mrs Biden.. YUCK
Time to go wash out my brain.

  • SJ

What the hell was all this back rubbing and, close face contact between Ob and Miche, looks like we all had to see how deeply in love they are, I always feel that when couples need to put on a extra show for the public as to how close they are something may not be right after all lol

  • Thinker

uhm yeah, I won’t click on those videos, and was hoping I wouldn’t have to see them at all. …wasn’t expecting to see them on NQ today. Here’s to trying to avoid looking at them at all costs, lol.

I had to bite my tongue last night while talking to my grandma. She kept calling me non-stop, excited, telling me to turn to this channel and that channel.

I wanted to tell her no, I don’t want to look at him Grandma, I don’t want to hear him, he’s trash, but I know how the Obama brand breaks up relationships so I’m refusing to let him cause an argument between us.

She told me to turn to ABC so I could see Michelle, I waited, with her on the line, but Robin kept talking to Barack so I missed her and thankfully my Grandma had to take another call.

She’s old school Black folk so I figured I’ll just let it go with her.

My mother and little brother came back into town.

He was given money in D.C to buy me something and he bought me an Obama flag.

    ** gag **

I told him thank you, I really appreciate it, hugged him, smiled, blah blah blah.

He’s one of the many Black kids that have been taught to idolize Obama so I have to bite my tongue with him as well.

    :(

    • Animal Control

      You’re a good person.

        lol, thanks. I try.

    Carly Simon: Older Sister

She rides in the front seat, she’s my older sister
She knows her power over me
She goes to bed an hour later than I do
When she turns the lights out
    What does she think about?
And what does she do in the daylight
    That makes her so great?

    Refrain:
Oh but to be, oh but to be, oh but to be, I’d like to be
    My older sister

She flies throught the back door, she’s my older sister
She throws French phrases ’round the room
She has ice skates and legs that fit right in
She’s wicked to all the beaming dreamers
Who’ll later boast of an evening
    By her fiery side

    Refrain

And in her black gymnastic tights
She runs into some elastic nights
    Sophisticated sister sings for the
    Soldiers of the soccer team
    Their silver I.D.’s and sororities
They tinker with love in their Model T’s
Oh lord, won’t you let me be her for just one day

    She turns everybody’s heads
While I wear her last year’s threads
With patches and stitches and a turned up hem

Oh, but to be, oh but to be, I’d like to be, Just once to be
    My older sister
    ——————————-
Me, Louie, Libby and Dr Gaye…

    (Sorry)

If I visit this site and see anymore pieces this shallow and trivial and obscene I will not come back. What a letdown!! No more speculation about their sex life!! I can’t stand the fact that they are in the White House, but, I will not speculate or comment about their sex life. This reminds me so much of what was done to the Clintons, granted he was an adulterer and practically begged to be caught. Let’s leave their sex life and their children alone. I don’t want to see anything about either subject on this website.

    • KintheNorthwest

It was a joke …. time for a laugh and we all got a laugh out of it.

      • ROTFG/Rollingonthefloorgagging

It was a pathetic joke. Use your time in a more constructive manner. I don’t want to see this website turn into another gossip celebrity rag that specializes in personal destruction.

        • AMERICA R.I.P.

Grow up. Yesterday was a bad day for a lot of us and a little humor is welcome.

          • ROTFG/Rollingonthefloorgagging

Whoever thought up this immature poll and the immature morons who think it is funny need to get a life.

            • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Oh so glad you weighed in. Please take your little ‘bot attitude and go to bed. School starts early tomorrow and you don’t want to miss the bus.

              • ROTFG/Rollingonthefloorgagging

I am not a ‘bot, Buzz Latte LaRue. I am a daily fan of No Quarter. I am a sixty-one year old woman. Perhaps that explains my intolerance to such shallow, coarse, cheap “jokes”. I truly hope that such equine excrement does not appear in No Quarter again.

    • beebop

Please keep your promise and GOOOOOOOOO …..

      • ROTFG/Rollingonthefloorgagging

I’ve decided to stay and fight the debasement of our cultural mores. As I said earlier I’m not at all pleased that the Obamas now occupy the White House, but I’ll speak out when I see them trashed such as I’m seeing here today. I just don’t want to see No Quarter descend to the level of tabloid entertainment.

        • AMERICA R.I.P.

          And you think anyone CARES?

          • ROTFG/Rollingonthefloorgagging

I think a lot of the readers of this website care much more than you realize. That’s why I’m protesting the cheapening of No Quarter.

  • Retired

I appreciate a good joke as well as the next person, but in my opinion, this post probably would’ve been better elsewhere. I go to the Comedy Channel and humor websites for my comic relief. I come to NQ for serious analysis.

Just my opinion. I’m not looking to provoke a debate, as with everything else going on, I’m not sure the topic is worth debating.

    • beebop

But you think the taxpayers got their money’s worth yesterday for the $200 Million ???? Is the indignation always going to be so selective with this guy? Is it just because he’s a so called Democrat(sic)? So, we now have different albeit lower standards for ourselves? Great, just great!

  • non-Kool-Aid drinker

All I have to say is, if half the people simply wanted an inexperienced black man to be president, I would have preferred Eddie Murphy.

    • beebop

      …. or Will Smith?

  • dee1153

What in the H*ll is he doing with his left leg? He looks like a dog standing next to a fire hydrant.

It’s going to be a long, rap nightmare.
