After the Dance…

When I saw this lovely photograph in the New York Times I immediately conjured up the warm memory of my mother reading Cinderella to me. President Obama’s life story has some Cinderella in it.

Yet, when I was a kid I was also puzzled when Mom closed the book after the last page. I wondered what happened after the fancy ball and after the glass slipper was a match with her tiny foot.

Will Cinderella be stuck with what she was doing before, only more of it?

Does Cinderella even know how to clean a whole palace?

Would the Fairy Godmother hang around to get her out of new troubles, or did she finish that job by just getting the unlikely young woman in the door?

Alas, there is no “happy-ever-after” to greet Obama when the dance is over. No Fairy Godmother to make Iraq go away and our economy flourish. Our kingdom is in deep doo doo. The inside of the palace is filthy, the serfs are hurting, and Barbarians are at the gates.

Enter the unknown zone that the fairy tale never finished.

    I thought the dance was very strange. Saw it over and over on several channels, different camera angles, etc. The two of them looked so awkward and uncomfortable together, you’d think they’d never danced before, let alone been married for years.

      I was just thinking about starting a pool at home about what would be the first knockdown of Obama off the pedestal.

      Would it be political? Like Reagan and the Contra affair?

      Would it be personal? Like getting caught with yer pants down?

      Would it be intentional? Like releasing some really nasty information – like Obama’s not really a citizen. Or Obama is really schizophrenic.

      Would it be from the cosmos? Like some nasty illness. (Yes, I know we create our own illnesses.)

      Would it be karmic? Like Rezko and Blagojevich give reliable information that Obama is indeed corrupt and needs to be charged, tried, and convicted.

      Oh this is just like waiting for the next episode of Big Love or the Tudors.

        I’m more interested in HOW LONG the Obama fall takes. I would love a poll on that. There’s no doubt about the fact that he will screw up, big time, one way or another. I was told by someone in politics that in 12-18 months it will be done for Obama. Anyone else have thoughts? I wish it could be sooner.

          The irregularities of the caucuses The Chicago combine connections, the Donald Young murder, Rezko, Blagojevich, even Larry Sinclair, Auchi, Ayers, Khalidi, these aren’t likely to go away quietly. It’s all too interconnected.

    After the dance, Obama realizes he actually has work to do. Oh shit, what did you say? Work?!?!? A full day of it, and by full day, I mean, more than four hours. And decisions. All those decisions to make, how do we keep track!

    IMO, there is no way this dipstick is up to “task” of being in charge round the clock. He probably thought the presidency was like the movie “Dave.” Show up to a baseball game, a few ribbon cutting ceremonies, and sign a few things. I’m telling you, Obama will be barking at reporters within the first two weeks, if he talks to them at all. Poor sleepyheaded Obama, didn’t get enough naptime.

        I don’t like the result of this election anymore than anyone else on this board. But I find the uncontrolled rage and petty comments disturbing, basically counter-productive in the truly serious, critical examination of the next [what I expect very long] four years.

        We need to keep our powder dry and save the shots for when they really count. Ammunition can be expensive!

    WASHINGTON – Chief Justice John Roberts has administered the presidential oath of office to Barack Obama for a second time just to be on the safe side.

    The unusual step came after Roberts flubbed the oath a bit on Tuesday, causing Obama to repeat the wording differently than as prescribed in the Constitution.

    White House counsel Greg Craig said Obama took the oath from Roberts again out of an “abundance of caution.”

    The chief justice and the president handled the matter privately in the Map Room on Wednesday night.

    I only read the first few comments, but my initial reaction to Pat’s article is that because no one who is not black cannot say anything that won’t be turned into a racial comment of some kind by someone, sooner or later there will be a backlash.

    I don’t know what will precipitate it, but I don’t think the outcome will be good. Like Pogo said “We have met the enemy and he is us”.

    A striking picture, Pat. We’ll have to wait and see how the fairy tale plays out. For sure it is unlikely to be worse than his critics expect. For our country’s sake, let’s hope it will be far better.

    Interesting that the wording in the first swearing in of Obama had flaws, so they redid it today and the Chief Justice and Obama allegedly got all the words right this time….so they say.

    There is a report from the Kennedy clan that Caroline has NOT withdrawn. The Gov is expected to announce who the senator will be in the next few days.

    Hillary is now officially the new SOS. She is going to have her capable hands full. I hope Obama will listen to her and not overrule her approach to international diplomacy. Too bad she didn’t get the glass slipper. I’m sure it would have been a good fit.

      I just read this post on the Canada Free Press blog. Does anyone get WTF this means? You mean Biden is involved with the BC/passport/INS cover up? Wow…this gets uglier every day.

      WOW — Thanks so much for speaking the truth! You forgot to mention the
      conflict of interest of Biden presiding over the investigation of the
      illegal scrubbing of Obama’s passport and INS files. Biden didn’t resign
      his senate position until last week, a day or two after the final report of
      the investigation was issued. If he isn’t part of the cover up, then why
      didn’t he resign sooner as Hillary and O did?
