How Is This Not Racist?

NOTE: I am closing the comments in this thread due to length, and extra stress on the servers. Please go up to the full reprinting to continue your discussions.

UPDATE/CORRECTION?: Thanks to reader LDP doing some more digging, we now believe that Jay-Z and Young Jeezy exhibited their crude behavior at a concert Monday night called “Jay-Z’s ‘Concert On The Eve Of Change’.” See photos. Lovely. (He performed his apparently revered new hit song, “History,” which I’ve added at the end of this post.) Get this: He charged big bucks for tickets, which scalpers quickly scooped up. Via sohh.com:

The “affordable” tickets reportedly sold-out in a matter of minutes.

Only the highest online bidders will have the chance to see the hip-hop superstar honor the new president-elect. The cheapest seats for the show, located in the balcony of Washington’s Warner Theatre, cost between $195 and $375 depending on the view. Those disappeared from Ticketmaster in less than five minutes after going on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. (CNN)

In light of LisaB’s great article earlier today, “The ‘racist’ angle, going forward,” I have to ask how this disgusting, utterly vulgar trash talking by “Young Jeezy” and “Jay-Z” at one of the Tuesday night inaugural balls (!) — featured in a segment on The O’Reilly Factor — is not also racist. Racism, contrary to the high-minded assumptions of the elite mainstream media and academia, is not a one-way street.

As I researched this story, I found more and more must-read items, and this story goes clear back to Obama’s behavior during the Democratic primaries. So, let me distill all below into a few succinct key points:

     1) During the Democratic primaries, candidate Barack Obama evoked the motions and style of Jay-Z in order to mock and demean Hillary Clinton. Obama’s gestures — unfamiliar to us who aren’t into hip-hop but instantly understood by all who are into that “music” — were summed up in a great article published at No Quarter, “Obama Invokes Jay-Z: ‘Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law’.”

     2) Jay-Z is regarded as an “A-list” celebrity, even by the so-called MSM.

     3) Not only that, Jay-Z was awarded the privilege and protection of an official police escort this week in Washington, D.C. (although we don’t know who picked up the tab for that).

     4) Jay-Z attends the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball — which means he was invited (!) — with his pal Young Jeezy, and the two tear up the place with a racist rant that essentially flaunts black power because they have a black president.

     5) During the Neighborhood Ball, Jay-Z and Young Jeezy pitch a nasty, foul-mouthed fit that they’re not asked to perform at the Ball.

     6) We learn that Jay-Z, along with Arcade Fire, has been chosen by the top administrators of the Obama campaign staff to headline a special concert for the hardest-working Obama campaign staff in D.C.

     7) We therefore conclude that, while on Inaugural Day, the Obamas danced to the more elegant Beyonce, they are still promoting the filth and misogyny of Jay-Z and other “performers” of his ilk, just as they did during the campaign.
Above all else, what Jay-Z and Young Jeezy sell is misogyny, sexism, and the objectification of women, as well as dangerous hatred of all other races except blacks. Ironically, sadly, those sales are made to a lot of white, Asian and Hispanic kids.

Here are some sample lyrics from Jay-Z and Young Jeezy are below (brace yourselves). There are more lyrics like this:

How We Ball In The Club, I Know You Hate It
Mommy Dancing On The Floor, All Like She Naked
When She Lay Down With You, I Know She Fake It
All The Girls Give It To Me, I Ain’t Gotta Take It …

Then there are these “lyrics” from Jay-Z’s song that inspired Obama’s gesture, captured on YouTube (seen at the end of this story), towards Hillary Clinton:

If you feelin’ like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder

Now for all the details of the above summary. First, this segment was aired on Bill O’Reilly’s show Wednesday night:

Bill O’Reilly didn’t have the whole story. Not by a long shot. First, there are these remarks by YouTube channel owner (Mark1 Williams, a black man) whose video is below:

and jayz had the nerve to act like his feelings were hurt when he wasn’t asked to perform. these are grown men for god’s sake. *shaking my head*

So Mark Williams believes that Jay-Z behaved like this at the ball Tuesday night. You’ve now seen our update above. We just aren’t sure which night it was. But the point that Williams made was that Jay-Z was acting out furiously because he wasn’t invited to perform at the inaugural ball? Jay-Z is an arrogant racist and a misogynistic blowhard afflicted with stunted emotional growth.

BELOW is the un-censored video of Jay-Z’s antics at the inaugural ball Tuesday night, posted by YouTube channel owner Mark1 Williams. STRONG WARNING: The language is very raw, so prepare yourself before you click and, if you’re sensitive to such vulgarity, skip it:

Not that you’re likely to want to see more, but if you do, here’s a link to more such videos from Tuesday night and from those two, uh, performers.

NOW GET THIS. While researching this story, I discovered that Jay-Z has no reason to pout for not getting to perform at the inaugural balls since he is performing, along with Arcade Fire, at an exclusive private party for key Obama campaign staffers as a “thank you” from the campaign. Bill O’Reilly didn’t have this either, even though it’s published by the NYT reporter who spewed bile on Hillary Clinton, Adam Nagourney, at the New York Times Caucus blog as well as at PitchforkMedia and other media outlets. PitchforkMedia praises “Jay and the Arcade Fire [who] both campaigned hard for Obama. … [T]his should be an incredible show, and it seems a fair bet those staffers will hear that “My President is Black” remix at some point.

Oh wow. Don’t we hope. That “My President is Black” remix? It features not only Jay-Z but his partner in filth, “Young Jeezy.”

Isn’t it great that our new president is treating his hardest-working campaign staffers to these sleazeballs?

Do you recall the great article we posted on Jay-Z by Laluchasigue? It’s this article: “Obama Invokes Jay-Z: ‘Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law’.”

Here’s the history behind Jay-Z that O’Reilly left out of his program Wednesday night:

Obama mimicked Jay-Z during the campaign to connect with hip young black voters and — and! — to denigrate Secretary Hillary Clinton, along with, let’s face it, all women since these two are clearly misogynistic. Shockingly, Obama was willing to stoop to Jay-Z’s level to get votes. So, actually, what took place at the Tuesday inaugural ball is in part Obama’s own fault because he legitimized these foul-mouthed lousy performers by mimicking them, especially in rallies dominated by black voters. Wrote Laluchasigue:

Obama’s invocation of Jay-Z’s defiant “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” battle anthem during the same speech adds evidence to the claim that he gave Hillary the finger.

Obama’s gesture prompted a mash-up video that made the Jay-Z/Obama connection explicit. Ari Melber, the other Obamabot named Ari at The Nation, posted the video on The Nation’s website, noting, “Obama really is a Jay-Z fan, too. When asked which hip hop artists he likes in a recent interview, he said, ‘lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jay-Z — this new American Gangster album.’”

Sigh. Yeah. That American Gangster album is da bomb. Great taste, Mr. President. Just great. And what a fine example to the nation’s youth.

Dennis Miller is correct, in the O’Reilly segment, about the two young men being unable to “ratchet down the hate.”

But let’s face it. If those two didn’t have white people to hate, and women to trash, what in the hell would they have left to rap about?

And I LOVE what Miller says about the term “ho’s” versus “hose.” (That’s another strong theme in this kind of “music” [I use the term reluctantly] in that it is also misogynistic and constantly regards women as objects whose sole function is for the gratification of male sexual pleasure.)

Quite frankly, their “music” is nothing more than crudely dysfunctional emotional ejaculation and has nothing to do with the deepest needs of all psychologically healthy human beings, which are to connect emotionally as well as physically.

This kind of language, and what it conveys, has no place in our society. Racism can, and does, affect ALL races.. And the speech of Jay-Z and Young Jeezy is racist against whites, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asian Americans.

It makes me sick to my stomach that young people are spending money — most likely their parents’ hard-earned money — to make rich brats out of these thugs. It repulses me that young people are reveling in the music put out by disgusting hate-filled people like these two. Bill O’Reilly’s minimization of their impact is woefully wrong. The truth is that far too many young people are listening to music like this.

Can we have a little class, please. Is that too much to ask? A little more Beyonce and no more Jay-Z?

Naturally, the vast majority of blacks yesterday rejoiced in the inauguration of the nation’s first black president. But there were a few who used the occasion to preach hate and racism against anyone who’s not black like them.

President Obama must do all he can to set these young thugs straight, and to discourage young people from imitating their behavior and adopting their sickening attitudes.

Perhaps President Obama can begin by not emulating them in order to win a presidential election.

*******************************

I finished the above story but it kept bugging me. So I searched the news for more reports.

This is by an LA Times reporter for its arts section, “The Culture Monster,” who spotted Jay-Z in the morning:

I walked to the southeastern edge of the Capitol this morning with my sister and a friend. They held blue tickets for the swearing-in ceremony; mine was green. We parted at the corner of Independence Avenue and South Capitol Street. And while I progressed rather quickly through a battery of security checkpoints and found my seat around 9 a.m. — well before a parade of celebrities including Jay-Z (wearing a gigantic, Yeltsin-esque fur hat), Beyonce and Maria Shriver swept past me toward their seats nearby — they stood motionless in a massive block of people that went nowhere. They ultimately gave up after standing in line for four hours.

Here’s another not-too-deep report, “Leonardo DiCaprio Joins Beyonce, Jay-Z, and More at Neighborhood Inaugural Ball.”

And last, this from the San Francisco Examiner:

How the mighty have fallen – Jennifer Lopez locked out of Jay-Z show at Obama Inaugural

[...]

Real A-listers like Jay-Z, who was getting around town with a police escort, and Alicia Keys had been warned to make it to balls and other celebrations up to four hours early to make it past the snarled traffic and tight security. Even Leonardo DiCaprio and Toby “Spiderman” Maquire were there early. …

Got that? Jay-Z is a “real A-lister” who gets a “police escort” — and who’s paying for that? The taxpayers of Washington, D.C.? And who ordered that he merited a police escort? I’d like to know who arranged that. Was it an Obama staffer? And why?

My jaw has dropped so many times while writing this article that I can’t find it anymore.

So a misogynistic, foul-mouthed creep like Jay-Z gets A-list treatment, a police escort, and a lead in the entertainment for Obama’s most prized campaign staffers? And he served as a role model for Obama to capture the black vote?

What world am I living in?

The one thing I do know is that it’s not my world or my country. It’s not my family’s world. It’s not my mother’s world (she’d be shocked beyond belief by this article if she were alive to read it).

Down is up.

Class is trash.

And I’m glad that I chose to stay away from that campaign and that candidate, if those are the celebrities and the “talent” he chooses to reward.

I’ll stick with the one who should be president.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Now there’s real class.

But remember this video. That crowd got exactly what Obama was doing:

That gesture comes from these lyrics:

[Chorus: Jay-Z]
If you feelin’ like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder

[Verse One]
I probably owe it to y’all, probably to be locked by the force
Tryin to hustle some things, that go with the Porsche
Feelin no remorse, feelin like my hand was forced
Middle finger to the law, nigga grippin ma balls
Stab the ladies they love me, from the bleachers they screamin
All the ballers is bouncin, they like the way I be leanin
All the rappers be hatin, off the track that I’m makin
But all the hustlers they love it just to see one of us make it
Came from the bottom the bottom, to the Top of the Pops
Nigga London, Japan and I’m straight off the block
Like a running back, get it man, I’m straight off the block
I can run it back nigga cause I’m straight with the Roc
=

Just remember, as if I have to repeat it, from above:

Obama really is a Jay-Z fan, too. When asked which hip hop artists he likes in a recent interview, he said, ‘lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jay-Z — this new American Gangster album.’”

What an example to the nation’s children our new president is.

UPDATE on “Jay-Z’s ‘Concert On The Eve Of Change’.” (H/T to LDP, who did some more digging, and found out that Jay-Z probably performed those antics at the Monday night concert he held. See photos. Lovely. (He performed his apparently revered new hit song, “History,” which I’ve added at the end of this post.) See sohh.com for more background on the concert.

NOW HERE ARE SOME of the lyrics to his lauded song, “History” — I note that “defeat” is a woman, but of course:

Known for his clever usage of metaphors, Jay compares Obama’s victory to his yearning and frustration over a woman.
Until she visit me/I’ll be stuck with her sister her name is defeat/she gives me agony/I‘m
stuck in this routine/whole new different day/same old thing/all I got
is dreams/nobody else could see/nobody else believes/nobody else but
me/Where are you victory/I need you desperately/not just for the
moment, to make history.”
The song, which debuted on Angie Martinez‘s Hot 97 radio show in New York City, comes after months of Jay’s personal endorsement of Obama at concerts, rallies with fans throughout the nation and exclusive Obama benefit shows

Read all here, including more on songs by others on Obama’s victory.

Um yeah, and I’m a racist? Wow. Well, as long as we are all the same, we need to call out racism where ever we find it….and I think you found it Susan. No more special treatment or excuses for anyone. That was vile. And Obama listens to that crap? What class, what dignity, what elegant understatement….especially that bottle of vodka being passed around.

    • barb

Jay Z and Puffy Combs will find himself in a “Frank Sinatra” situation pretty soon. Jay Z and Puffy think they are closer to the President than they really are and when their “thuggist” behavior draws criticism they will never know what hit them. Obama will lose them quick. Hope Jay Z and Puffy Combs like the view from under the bus.

  • stefystef

Oh trust me, Jay Z “music” and the music of most of the rappers from the 90s hates black people too.

As Chris Rock said “Who hates black people more- White people or Black people? Black people!!!”

Jay Z and Beyonce are trying to become hip hop royalty. I guess only the white kids are impressed because I can tell you, us black folks ain’t impressed by some little princess outta Houston and some thug outta Marcy Projects (a housing project in Brooklyn, NY where Jay Z is from).

    • wodiej

wow….why do they hate black people?

      • stefystef

It’s not really hating, it more like disrespecting each other. The “N” flying around and rapping about killing each other. It’s not positive. So when violence erupts, who is anyone surprised?

The only difference now is that many of those “angry” rappers like Jay Z and Ice Cube have gone legit, but left a legacy of anger, resentment and underclass status, glorifying jail time and baby mama drama.

Obama was right about men needed to take more responsibility for their families, I just wish he didn’t single out one group… absentee fatherhood is not a race issue.

    • oowawa

It helps me to think of the dignity of Bill Cosby through all of this. Jay Z & the hip-hop crowd do not exemplify the future of racial integration in American society. Bill Cosby does. Where is Barack Obama?

  • stefystef

To address the video, Obama is being faux black… for me it’s contrived and an act, trying to be a “homeboy”. As an african-american woman, I find it condescending.

Barack Obama is not a homeboy, nor a ‘hood rat, nothing inner city about him.

    • no kidding

Stefystef — Obama doesn’t care anyone but himself. He has used AA’s the same way he uses the youth. Obama wants to be love not for what he can do for people but just because he’s Obama.

  • Cindy

Thank you, Susan! It’s a very scary time for women now, and they don’t even know it. Think of all of the women who will be beaten and killed because of Jay Z’s influence.

Jay Z is the sexist equivalent of Bull Connor from the 1960′s…….. If some of you are too young to remember who he was, google that name, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I remember him all too well. He was the worst of racist white trash, swinging a legalized club. A horrible product of his time.

As we see in JayZ, trash comes in all colors. The Civil War didn’t heal the wounds on either side. Affirmative action didn’t do it. Making millions didn’t do it. What’s it going to take JayZ? Maybe JayZ doesn’t want anything to change. He might lose those millions he’s made by pimping racism if he couldn’t rile the black masses and stoke white guilt.

      • AMERICA R.I.P.

That’s a great point Annie…If these people didn’t peddle their hate, they wouldn’t be raking in their hundreds of millions. LOL. Yet again it’s all just about money.

  • Elle

Get a grip on the reality that we don’t have a black president.Black and white quite equally!
It is a shame that so many white people elected Obambi and yet the racist angered overtone has only deepened and grown more vile.
Racism is a 2 way street and while there is plenty of outcry when a white person does not act the examplery part,it sure gets brushed under the pile of indifference when a black person conducts it.
JayZ’s ignorance and anger is shameful and hundred steps backwards in decent human relations.

    • http://ezinearticles.com/?Three-Basic-Parenting-Styles&id=744499 Northwest rain

You are so correct — 0-zero is really more white than black — and culturally he is WHITE.

Unless the “drop of blood” rule applies — and then my guess is that a hell of a lot of folks would discover that they too are black.

Ironically DNA doesn’t always agree with external appearance. Some individuals look very white and yet they could be (using DNA) considered black. Other individuals consider themselves black — but their DNA says otherwise.

Genealogy — if we go back far enough I doubt that anyone is pure white.

Blue eyes haven’t been around that long — few thousand years. One person had a genetic mutation.

I always notice gender before race — and really gender is the most dominant identifier. The supreme ignorance of the racist/sexists pigs –EVERYONE starts life as a female — and then at a point in the gestation one gene triggers the switch to male.

  • hedy

I saw this tape last night and I think that it is not music it shows what this country has become. It is time that Obama starts to ban this kind of stuff. Who in their right mind would even listen to this garbage?

  • AMERICA R.I.P.

I’m repulsed by this. If a white person at a John McCain or Hillary Clinton party uttered those filthy words there would be race riots and blacks burning the country to the ground, like we have been threatened with for two years if Obama didn’t get his way.

I am thrilled, however, that this is going on. I hope every white person/woman who voted for Obama sees who he really is and realize what a mistake they made. A sexist, racist pig himself. Never mind Michelle and her hate of all things American or white. This is what our country thinks is dignity and class? This is the message for blacks out there? What a disgrace this so called “Presidency”, and everything surrounding it, is. And will continue to be.

    • wodiej

This is what our country thinks is dignity and class?

      Apparently so…pretty pathetic.

    • Seattle Moss

      RIP,
Time will tell if Obama represents the interests of white Americans who have bent over backwards to advance the cause of all minorities.
White folks will not tolerate being treated like second class and if there is even a hint that this is happening there will be a mobilization and total backlash in four years.

      • AMERICA R.I.P.

        Moss,

White people already ARE second class citizens in this country. They just don’t know it yet. If a black person and white person are up for a job, and equally qualified, who do you think gets it? Hmmmm…Unfortunately the Obamas don’t particularly lead by example, or engender unity. So, in four years, there WILL be a huge backlash. Maybe that will show the idiots in this country to vote for a CANDIDATE not a COLOR.

It’s really sad that even AFTER this country elected an alleged black man, there is STILL so much hate out there from blacks like JayZ. When do they stop? Frankly, I am done with it. They got what they wanted. Any hate after that should be treated the same way it would if it came from a white person. It never will be, but it should.

      • AMERICA R.I.P.

        Moss,

White Americans already ARE second class citizens. They just don’t know it yet. If a black man and white woman are up for a job, and equally qualified, who gets the job? Hmmmmm…that’s a no brainer.

There WILL be a major backlash against this mess soon. Obama will fail, blacks will realize they were conned just like the rest of us, and it will take years to straighten it out.

Also, the blacks have to realize that we aren’t putting up with the crap anymore. They got Obama. If they keep the hate up, and they don’t start lifting themselves up, race relations will get screwed up again. I know I have HAD IT with the hate. HAD IT. To see that idiot JayZ, who speaks for a large percentage of that society, makes my blood boil. Instead of being GRATEFUL for the progress of America, and for Obama’s phony “selection,” they rage on with hate. THAT, my friend, is going to backfire in a BIG WAY. No one is going to tolerate that hate anymore. They got what they wanted. He’s a dud and a fraud. Too bad for them. Let them live with it. Maybe next time they can vote substance over color like the rest of us did.

      • AMERICA R.I.P.

        Moss,

I keep trying to answer you, but it’s getting lost in spam. If this one goes through LOL…

I’ve had it with the hate. Whites ARE second class citizens already. They just don’t know it yet. Backlash in four years? You bet. None of us are going to tolerate black hate anymore. I have HAD it. They got what they wanted, now they need to live up to it. And when he fails miserably, which he will, next time they will use their brains to vote substance over color.

        • Candid Andy

How are whites second class citizens? please give me an example, perhaps I am just outta the loop.

          • AMERICA R.I.P.

Candid Andy…you are one of the dumber OButts so I feel sorry for you. It must be really hard to walk around with the ignorance. Oh well.

If a white man and black man are up for a job, and equally qualified, who gets the job? We just got our first Affirmative Action “President Select” so that’s a little example for you. Snickers…Yes, we have to all be thinking about 2010 and get INVOLVED. If anything this “selection” has taught us is that we have to take back our country from these nuts, and not sit on our behinds and let this happen again. I can’t wait to see how fast this country dumps the Dem scum out of Congress in 10. But we have to be part of working it.

There’s no question that these lyrics and performances are racist. And it needs to stop, period. This PC notion that these “artists” represent black culture is obscene. And white kids buy these albums and repeat the lingo because they’re convinced “it’s cool.”

No, it’s garbage and breeds nothing but racism, sexism and hate. If Obama encourages this nonsense, he’ll reap the whirlwind. He’s the father of two daughters and all women are marginalized by this stuff, black and white.

Is it racist, sexist? Without a doubt.

    • Wisewoman

Remember he said something to the effect that his daughters listen to this music too.

      • Peggy Sue

Which is scary, Wisewoman. So much of this dreck only reinforces the idea that women and girls are objects of male gratification, nothing more.

Wait until his daughters are teenagers. He might find his taste in music change quickly!

Betcha he would never let his girls find Jay-Z at the end of a scavenger hunt!

So here’s what I’m struggling with: if Obama is so ‘brilliant’, why does he not GET how wrong this stuff is?

The other alternative is that Obama is encouraging segments of our culture that benefit him in the end.

          • Peggy Sue

I think Obama is a raw opportunist. He embraced this to get the youth vote. But as a father if he doesn’t cut this garbage- posing-as-art loose?

            You reap what you sow.

      • barb

I don’t believe Obama’s kids listen to Jay Z, they like the Jonas brothers. I can’t see Obama liking this stuff either, he’s too smooth and sophisticated for that. He was just using black trash to win the black trash vote. Decent black people don’t like that image. Actually I think rap music is on its way out, it was hot about 10 years ago and been going down ever since.

  • T-R

Obama is on record as listening to filthy misogynistic rap with his daughters – FACT. This song “Drop It Like It’s Hot”:

“Pistol whip you, dip you then flip you
Then dance to this motherf*cking music we crip to
    Subscribe nigga, get yo issue
Baby come close, let me see how you get loose!”

This is what the fraud plays for his little girls – it is no wonder this whole culture centered around Obama is rampant with sexism and misogyny.

This type of behavior was tolerated, even encouraged, during the campaign. It should not surprise us that it entered the inaugural festivities. It does not surprise me but it does sadden, anger, and disappoint greatly. Despite his pretensions to the contrary there is a part of Obama that is utterly and completely vulgar. It bothers me greatly that we had a campaign like this. And it bothers me even more that this crassness entered the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States.

The only thing I can be proud of at this inaugural is that for the 44th time in the history of the United States of America we had a peaceful and bloodless transfer of power. May there be four-million ++++++ more of those. And may this administration be a one-term one only.

You’re right, Susan. This is disgusting. Why the msm refuses to see the red flag that flies when Pres. Obama
counts these rappers as ones he likes is beyond me. It is just shameful that no one but No Quarter is showing any concern about it. I only hope that President Obama will do what Bill Cosby has done and admonish anyone who is involved in this kind of filth.

    • wodiej

why would he do that? He sat in Rev. Wrights church for 20 years which is on the same level of filth.

    • Kathleen Wynne

The MSM is owned and controlled by the very power elite who groomed and placed BO into the WH. They have a big investment in this guy to maintain the status quo for them with his smooth talk, as he speaks out of both sides of his mouth to the huddled masses who fell under his spell and to the corporations that are depending on him to keep them spellbound, while they engage in the final act of taking over America!

The people who voted for THE ONE are in for a great shock. The question is, will they be able to see him for who he really is when it’s staring them in the face? Or will they choose to remain sheep?

  • onmomnatureside

O’s post debate gesture of brushing his shoulders ,dissing Hillary and calling up Jay Z’s lyrics , unfortunately “spoke” to millions. That gesture , alone, garnered many thousands of votes. Here’s a money line from the article in The Nation referenced above:
    Referring to Obambi’s gesture…

immediately heralded the move as “perhaps the coolest subliminal cultural reference in the history of American politics.”
This will be in the history books. How proud I feel right now.
    not.

    • AMERICA R.I.P.

That “gesture,” and the subsequent flipping the finger to McCain and Clinton, show what an immature, filthy little THUG Obama is himself. I can’t believe anyone voted for that high school, juvenile, little brat after he pulled those stunts. He makes me sick. Literally. Can you imagine Reagan, Bill Clinton, Hillary, Gore, Kerry, ANY OF THEM making those rude, crude gestures? McCain? Flipping off a colleague? HELL NO. This man is mentally deranged.

      • Andrew P

May I add the equation of Geraldine Ferraro with Louis Farrakhan to the list of 0′s gravest hits? When I heard that, I immediately thought of what Army counsel Joseph Welch said to Senator Joseph McCarthy in 1954:

“Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”

I don’t think 0 ever had any decency to begin with. I’m sure that Larry is right about his daughters thinking he is great. And yet—what decent father would listen to music with lyrics like those quoted above in the presence of his young daughters?

  • Cahil

    Really nice article, Susan.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to matter to our new Bro in the house. Nor does it seem to matter to the MSM any more than it did on the campaign trail.

Bro BHO used so many racist things in his campaign and allowed others the same privilege that this could have been stopped early on had any in the MSM had the balls to speak up.

But when your agenda is to elect a person because they’re black in order to show your progressive nature, and you’ve picked a low life only for the image he presents, this is what you get.

    • barb

Obama just had to act Black to get votes from minorities, then he’d turn right around and act White when he want the white liberal vote, and turn right around and act Christian to the Rick Warren crowd, and then Muslim to the Farakan crowd. Let’s face it nobody knows who this guy is.

    • rw

why does he have a new armored limo, what was wrong with the old one.

  • Candid Andy

If you’re gonna get vexed about something, at least be honest about it.

the rap does not say ‘stab the ladies, they love me’

Also, the song is just a celebration of someone who as a black guy looks at O and feels pride. I do not blame him and I do not know why you’re all so upset, the president is black, so why does that offend you?

(I know he is half white but the man himself described himself as an African American, so deal with it.)

    • wodiej

      your ignorance is truly revealing.

      • Candid Andy

Do enlighten me on this ignorance of which you speak.

        • wodiej

that’s pretty sad…you don’t even know how ignorant you are.

You think Jay Z is just a black guy proud of another black guy. Jay Z is an obscene, vulgar nasty person who is racist and sexist. Feel enlightened now? Didn’t think so.

          • AMERICA R.I.P.

Ignorance? Yup. This is why Obama is where he is in the first place. Anyone who can’t see the JayZ crap as vulgar, vile, inappropriate and absolutely idiotic is, well, not so enlightened.

          • Candid Andy

LOl, So who is to be sorry for that? B.O. is not responsible for what Jay Z says.Because he is a rapper, he cannot express pride in the the new president? I know that this exchange between us now is rather pointless, you’re quite comfortable feeling aggrieved over nothing, so have fun with it.

            • HARP

Obama is not responsible for anything…right.

              • Candid Andy

                Your attempt at sarcasm flopped.

              • AMERICA R.I.P.

Everyone sing along the new American National Anthem…”Obama’s not to blame, …Obama’s not to blame…Obama’s not to blame…”

                • Candid Andy

Lol, what’s the requirement for your loons are us society? half a brain, hate stained eyes? what is it?

                  • AMERICA R.I.P.

Candid Andy…WTF are you doing here you ignorant Bot? You should be out smoking crack with your pals. If you are too blinded by your own hatred for this country, that you can’t see the truth about Obama, then that’s on YOU. You got your unqualified, cheat, liar and con man AA President. BECAUSE he is AA. No other reason. Why can’t you idiots be happy about it and get lost? Really, what point are you trying to prove here? And the only HATE around here is the hate from people like JayZ and the Obamas from the very society that feeds them. Kind of ironic, huh?

                    • Candid Andy

Lol, I do not think you know what irony is. You post a comment filled with hate and then say ‘the only hate around is…’ I told you, you only half a brain to join your loons are us society.

            • http://firefox AnnieCollier

If he puts him seal of approval on it by listening to it as a “fan”, he’s responsible. His influence…on youth especially…as POTUS gives the message that this is acceptable.

It is beneath the dignity of any person in public office to give this vile filth authenticy. If low lifes such as yourself choose to pollute your own consciousness and awareness with this hateful racism, it’s up to you. As POTUS, he is supposed to represent EVERYONE not just pander to black racists. Got it now, pond scum?

        • Peggy Sue

          Candid Andy said:

“the rap does not say ’stab the ladies, they love me’”

No, instead it glorifes rape, which is certainly an uplifting message! Filth is filth regardless of what rhythm you put it to.

You have a mother or sister, Andy? You want to sing them these lyrics?

This isn’t a celebration of being a black man. It’s a celebration of being a thug.

          • Candid Andy

Where does the rap glorify rape? Please tell me.

No, it’s not a celebration of being a thug, I just do not get why you are so mad, forget his other songs, what is it about the particular song, ‘My president is black’ that upsets you so?

I have three sisters and trust me, I would never try to tell to them what to do, they are smart young women and make up their own mind, if they need advice, i’ll give it. I do not try to control them.

        • Wisewoman

Candid Andy. I am an AA female and I will continue to enlighten you. This behavior was condoned, encouraged, and supported by Obama throughout the campaign. see the following example:
To cheers, at a rally for young people in Atlanta near the end of the primaries, Obama referenced the rapper Lil Wayne as follows: “maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school”. Now he could have used any rapper but he chose Lil Wayne. Why? May be the following lyrics to his hit song explains why he chose this rapper and why the young rap loving crowd laughed and cheered so wildly:

          “I get on top
She drop it like it’s hot
And when I’m on the bottom
          She be Hillary Rodham”

That is the kind of disgusting things that happened that many whites and blacks do not know about. I followed this campaign closely. You are an uniformed person who escuses bad behaior. I despise Obama for his lies, race-baiting, and lack of real leadership. In my opinion he hated his mother, his grandmother, white people, and specifically white women. He is an empty individual with a feeling of not belonging to either race, therefore he has no real love for either. The guilt-driven, Clinton hating whites (dems & repubs) put him in office, not the blacks. Blacks helped slightly in a few states. Proof for Example: Obama did not win MS & SC with the highest percentage of blacks (Obama won both states primaries) in the General election against McCain. He did win for example IA, NH, VT and other states with the lowest number of blacks in the country. BLACKS DID NOT ELECT THIS PRESIDENT, WHITES DID!!

          • Candid Andy

Lol, you sound like a self loathing sad case, who does not want to work with facts so, you take comfort in lies and distortion.

The fact that you claim to be an AA gives you no special insight into B.O.’s mind. Where did you get the impression that he hates white people? As for me excusing bad behaviour. please see the above.

He used lil’ Wayne because he was the hottest thing out then then, the most obvious entertainer the kids could relate to, if you don’t understand that, then oh well.

The majority of whites did not vote for O but that does not matter because he got the most votes of any Democratic candidate from whites since LBJ, he also won the Latino, Jewish, African American, Asian, Native American and so on. The man was elected by all types of Americans,a fact that any right thinking American should be proud.

Instead you all take comfort in your hate.

          • Andrew P

Thanks for speaking so authoritatively on this. I am not AA, but live on the edge of Harlem, and especially during the NY primary I talked with quite a few black women in my neighborhood based on our shared visible support of Senator Clinton. For the most part, they were open to an 0bama presidency sometime in the future, after he proved himself as worthy of the office. Many thought we had a chance to make history in another way by electing the first woman president, and it was better for the country to go that route given the comparative stature of the two leading Democrats. Isn’t it telling how 0bots see only “self-loathing” in people who clearly are patriots?

    • rw

You’re right, in four years let’s see how well you feel when whites start singing, say white is back, yeah, say white is back yeah. Remember, a president is suppose to be for all Americans.

      • Candid Andy

I for one do not care what colour the president is, so long as (s)he is competent, compasssionate and straight thinking, I am cool. All but 44 presidents have been white, do you really begrudge people the celebration of the fact that the country is really starting to live up to its founding principles, ……that all men are created equal?

You cannot see that there is great joy in moment? if not, oh well, that’s you problem.

        • Peggy Sue

          Andy said:

“do you really begrudge people the celebration of the fact that the country is really starting to live up to its founding principles, ……that all men are created equal?”

No, I don’t begrudge people anything. If a large section of the country is proud that a black man has been elected POTUS that’s perfectly reasonable. It’s a huge step forward but it’s not a magic potion. And condoning filthy lyrics and/or calling it “art” because the rapper or the POTUS is black is stupid and insane.

And btw, “all men are created equal” in the eyes of God and under the law. But we bring different strengths and weaknesses, varying talents to the table.

Yes, there is “joy” in the moment. But the next four years are not all going to be joyous, so you better get ready for a reality check.

          • Candid Andy

I do not agree with you that those lyrics are filthy, I think you are taking umbrage because you’re mad that O won and any excuse to be mad at anything about or involving him will be welcomed by you.

How is that you know the next four years will be bad? Wanna share that crystal ball with the rest of the country?

Of course, in the eyes of the law and in the Almighty’s we are equal. Anything after that is subjec to nature and nuture.

            • Peggy Sue

Have you been reading the headlines recently? It doesn’t take a crystal ball to know the country is on the skids. And Barack Obama owns this now. No backtracking or backpedalling.

He wanted the job, he’s got it. And he gets the heat that comes with it. And now we’ll see if inexperience is a virtue.

Trust me, I hope to God he’s better than I expect.

And btw, if you can’t tell the difference between filth and celebration, you need a new set of ears!

    • Cahil

Are you joking? You see nothing mysogynist and horrid in this rapper’s behavior.

      • Candid Andy

Not in the ‘my president is black’ song, no, his verse is celebratory.

We can talk about other songs but you gotta bring me the proof and then i’ll school you if you want.

        • http://! stodgie

say andy, if mccain had won and some white singers talked like that would you be so understanding? hell no! i thought not. you just excuse it when it suits you. that’s racist!

  • wodiej

thank you for the post and NQ for doing the right thing and reporting what is out there. This is a dying art.

People who spew this hate obviously have some serious issues. Anyone who stand idly by and says nothing and even encourages it, is just as guilty. Racism? Indeed, it is coming from the side accusing others of it.

  • PJ

Chalk it up to my lack of hipness, or my white self, or the fact that the generational divide has hit a new low, but these “performers” are obscene.

If Obama wishes to be an example for the black youth then he must decry these shout outs as does Bill Cosby. There is nothing dignified or talented about shouting out words like these to any crowd and the applause is unwarranted.

These thugs have made a pretty decent living out of lyrics that put down the women of their community and for Obama to be associated with them is pretty painful.

Wonder how Bill Cosby will react to Obama’s invitation to these losers which simply shows his willingness to mainstream their behavior? If this is a sign of “unity” then count me out. I wish to believe that I was raised better than that.

    • wodiej

I was raised better than that. Respect and integrity are not generational…it is just the right thing to do.

      • http://noquarter foxyladi14

i don’t think enough parents are teaching that these days…..

  • Shainzona

I guess I’m not in a very upbeat mood this morning.

I read another Arthur Silber essay (talking about the US and Israel) and found this statement….which, IMHO could just as easily apply to women and our equality.

Substitute women for indigenous peoples and you’ll get the picture:

“….the founding and development of both America and Israel required the large-scale…destruction of indigenous peoples. To further that destruction, and to provide moral “justification,” the indigenous peoples first had to be condemned and demonized. And because force and violence are necessary to the continuation of the State, such demonization must continue into the future, especially since additional acts of destruction will be necessary for the maintenance and consolidation of State power.”

Looking at who our “State power” is – both Repugs and the Obamanation who are actually interchangeable – and I’d say we’re whistling Dixie if we think things are going to change for women – now, and well into the future.

Jay-Z certainly seems to agree with that! And by extension, therefore, Obama.

  • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

  • VicoDANIEL

Do you people realize how utterly insane you sound?

I understand being bitter and disappointed over Obama defeating Hillary but the posts and the replies here have jumped the shark.

No Quarter was at one time, a smart blog and the comments were interesting but you people have moved beyond the crazies at FOX News.

Really, get some help. Oh, and here’s a little item to further make your day, this is what the big, bad Obama has accomplished in 48 hours:

    1. restored the Freedom of Information Act
    2. signed executive order to close GITMO
    3. signed executive order to ban torture
    4. signed executive order to create task force to lead a systematic review of detention policies and procedures and a review of all individual cases
    5. executive order delays the trial of Ali al-Marri, a legal U.S. resident who has been contesting his detention for more than five years as an enemy combatant in a military brig without the government bringing any charges against him

You really need to let it go. Barack Obama won and Hillary Clinton lost. The longer you embrace the crazies, the harder it will be to rejoin reality.

    • HARP

You DO realize that Obama now owns the next 9/11 ?

I’m not one of those. I live in NYC. I was a mile and a half from WTC. I had to walk miles to get home fleeing the downtown area. It was one of the singularly most ugly moment in my life.

For all those who live in other parts of the country where they feel ‘safe’, I condemn such a cavalier attitude. Especially because the Iraq War is the reason we are less safe now because of all the terrorists who have been created in its path in the face of there being NO WMDs and the fact that not only did Sadaam and the Iraqis have NOTHING to do with the 9/11, Sadaam hated Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden, being the kind of dictator that didn’t want anyone that would threaten his regime. But George W. Bush went in anyway. And he and his ilk actually believe that it was America’s job to liberate Iraq and that the Iraqis are grateful.

          Excuse me while I barf.

In all fairness, the entire country was fed up with Bush and had McCain won, or Hillary for that matter, they would have probably enacted many of these same Executive Orders, certainly at some point. The handwriting was on the wall and the majority of the country read it. The rest of you, not much.

I celebrate an era where diplomacy, once again will be the first order of action. BTW, the terrorist act of 9/11 didn’t just happen over night. It was being planned while Clinton was still president.

Having said all of this, I defend the right of people on this board to express their feelings about 0bama. For those of us who had our eyes open, the bitter after taste of 0bama’s victory lingers because of the way the msm, the so-called Progressive Left, steamrolled the entire process. Just watching the Caroline Kennedy soap opera unravel revives the vicious way the msm and the left gang banged Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, women of real accomplishment and who had EARNED it, while Caroline has been wrapped in the Kennedy cocoon and the press has coddled her as if she is stilll wet from the egg. A NY Daily news columnist still wants 0bama to give her something. GAG!

I don’t believe in wishing 0bama failure. To wish 0bama to fail is to want America to fail, and I certainly don’t want that. I can’t understand anyone calling themselves an American wanting that.

But please don’t nauseate me with tales of 0bama’s greatness, especially only 2 days into his administration. He was given every assistance in his path to the WH. He exploited AAs shamelessly, co-opting an experience he knows nothing about. He also took advantage of a spoiled, privileged American youth, who are grossly misinformed and miseducated. He tapped into the intense American male misogyny and I learned as a woman, an AA woman, that white males hate women far more than they harbor any racist attitudes. Interesting realization that was.

0bama is POTUS. Now he has to ‘show me the money.’ Literally and figuratively. And tough shit on anyone who doesn’t like the fact that I’m not some guileless, overly-enamored Bothead who sees 0bama as some kind of God.

For example, when GITMO actually closes it’s doors, then I will celebrate. Right now, it’s just a piece of paper and there’s a lot that can happen between now and a year from now.

Instead of wasting your time chastizing us, grow up and stop being so naive. This is politics and the folks in Washington are waiting for the American voters attention to wane and move off of them. They’re all pandering shamelessly now.

If the truth be told, it will be the people on this board who will keep things honest and real, who will hold 0bama accountable. Not you sychophants who just want us to roll over and play dead like an 0bama pet.

And yes, I want to exert my Freedom of Information Right to see his freaking Birth Certificate.

Did he think no one would ask?

          • Candid Andy

I hope he never ever releases his B.C just cos it’ll continue to annoy all you who believe he should have to.

H.R.C. is a woman of many accomplishments, one that makes me wish things for my own sisters but you know, O won the nomination fair and square. As for Sarah Palin, please, she was examined and found wanting and as one who has three sisters, I would have hated for S.P. to have been held up as the paragons of female accomplishment, a woman whose disdain for science and intellect was obvious at every campaign rally.

            • mimi

It’s too bad you can’t get beyond your idealogical differences with Sarah Palin in order to recognize that unlike Caroline Kennedy, she EARNED her political offices.

I am on opposite sides of SP politically. But as a woman, I admire what she has accomplished and her story of rising through the ranks as an average citizen.

Also, why do people automatically place public persons on a pedestal as paragons of virtue that must be mimicked point for point? It’s too bad that many refuse to hone skills of discernment. People of accomplishment are to be respected, but not slavishly bowed to like Gods.

I agree, Mimi. My politcal views never jived with Palin’s, but I was disgusted with the way she was treated by the “so-called” liberals and many of the old-guard feminists, who then had the nerve to stuff Caroline Kennedy’s inexperience down everyone’s throat.

It’s been a time of true revelation. For me at least!

              • Candid Andy

I think you’d be surprised to find that I agree with you on most things you said but i did not dis S.P’s accomplishments, I am disgusted by her disdain for anything remotely intellectual, the woman could not name one daily newspaper nor a supreme court case sans Roe v. Wade, there is nothing admirable about that.

I am against Caroline Kennedy’s potential nomination to the senate, I feel that there are men and women in NY who are way better qualified, cos she is a Kennedy does not give her a special right.

Of course, I do not expect Politicians to be perfect but I expect them to behave in way which justifies the trust of the people, I do not feel this is too much to ask.

                • Ferd Berfle

Rancid Candy–your disdain for something other than spin and regurgitation of talking points from obamabotHQ leaves me wondering if a lobotomy came with your Kool-Aide. I am disgusted by your support of a man who has a resume that is not worthy of the single page it could take up. I am disgusted that you follow the herd all the while bellowing “moo” but calling those of us who follow our own individual muses racist or behind the times or some other such unmitigated crapola. I am disgusted that you find no problem with gaming the system as That One did while all the while bloviating on and on and on about Sarah Palin, a woman who at least has her feet on the ground, unlike you bots who have your feet in the air and your heads up your rectal cavity.

A true intellectual would not make comments such as yours. Read a little Socrates via Plato. The truly wise man and so on.

                Hey RIP,
Just heard about the great social engineering plan presented by Robert Reich.
Infrastructure like bridges and roads need to be fixed quickly.
However, forget white males and professionals that know how to build bridges. Our new bridges will be built by the long term unemployed and minorities regardless of their ability to actually perform the task.
This is racism…Lets spend a lot of money rescuing the economy but white males need not apply.

                • AMERICA R.I.P.

                  MOSS,

Did you know I posted that link here of Robert Reich saying “NO WHITE MALE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS” should get jobs? Our country sucks and is in HELLLLLL….

                  • Seattle Moss

This is hell!!….These left wing nuts are playing with fire.
You make everyone that voted against Obama a racist.
You turn morality upside down by making traditional Christians the villians.
You start investigating and prosecuting those that kept us safe.
Now you want to disenfranchise hard working white males.

                    The giant is awakening…

What Obama did was to authorize racism by running a racist campaign himself. You may bull-shit yourself but don’t expect everyone else to buy it. Obama didn’t win anything, he stole it. But I suppose stealing and winning mean the same thing to you AASShole.

    • rw

ummm, don’t think Obama has accomplished much in 48 hours other than retake the oath he screwed up first, and do a bunch of Hancocks. The work has been done for him and will be done for him. He’s just there for some other motive and I just can’t figure out which it is, but it certainly is not to govern…he doesn’t have the smarts for it.

It’s a shell game. Those Gitmo detainees will now be housed in camps in the US. Obama is not closing the “black sites” where torture is conducted in secret.

The Fairness Doctrine was overturned by Congress. Therefore Congress has to restore it. Did they vote?

An executive order cannot trump law passed by Congress. Has the law passed by Congress authorizing torture been overturned by Congress?

Furthermore, we just got rid of a President that ruled by fiat. I want the process of co-equal branches restored. Not another President that changes things by the stroke of a pen. Wasn’t that one of the main criticisms of Bush?

I want the Constitution followed. Of course that would be silly of any real American.

  • mimi

I’d like to offer a different perspective. I don’t think Jay-Z was given a police escort because he rates more than, let’s say, Leonardo DiCaprio, it’s actually the SMART move by a police dept who really didn’t need any rapper thug violence jumping off during the Inaugural festivities which could have proved more costly, more deadly in the long run.

However, I do agree that these rappers’ words really do not serve the best interests of the 0bama administration, American youth and the country as a whole. They are divissive and not worthy of the ‘historic’ presidency that the msm has been pushing ad nauseum.

But this has been the problem with rap and hip-hop and their thug ideology all along. What’s going to happen from here is the painfully slow realization among rappers that they no longer have the same platform to espouse their ugly feelings. No longer are people going to tolerate their sense of self-righteous anger over racism, poverty and lack of opportunity.

    Not anymore.

And really, what’s up with the misogynistic attitudes anyway? Are young black men, who in large numbers come from single mother homes, really venting hostility toward their mothers? Perhaps it’s time for that question to be asked, it’s certainly a legitimate one for this generation of angry AA men. I know my generation had nothing but reverence for their mothers and women were treated way more respectfully in spite of what Hollywood movies portray. What happened to end that? The only difference is the proponderance of AA males being raised in women-only homes.

Rappers and the entire AA community are going to have to get real.

It will take time. And certainly people should keep them on the carpet about this.

Ultimately, if this kind of thing continues, it’s going to be a nightmare for 0bama as his presidency moves forward. As an AA, I predicted that this would ultimately be the undoing for 0bama. Tavis Smiley was on MTP Sunday and he made interesting comments about this in response to an article which hailed the ‘brilliance’ of the 0bama campaign to marginalize and ignore the black leadership, citing the treatment of Tavis Smiley over his annual conferences on the State of the Black Union, which 0bama refused to attend last winter, as a kind of ‘test case’ or an example for the rest of the AA leadership. In response Smiley commended the ‘brilliance’ of the campaign strategy, then added that there is a difference between campaigning and governing, cautioning that 0bama would NOT be able to use this strategy now that he is POTUS.

I agree. But we will see.

It’s going to take some time. 0bama has his 100 days. This is the honeymoon period, never more so for the AA community.

But there comes the day when AAs realize what exactly 0bama’s presidency really means to AAs with regard to how the rest of the country now perceives us in the face of the monumental accomplishment of 0bama being the first black president.

It’s ony a matter of time.

    • Ani

      Mimi,

As usual, you offer an amazing and thoughtful perspective. I always enjoy reading your contributions and comments.

      Hope you are well.

    • bart

I think you’re right. Can he represent ALL Americans and consider all their needs? I don’t think he had to do this during the campaign, as too many people were simply willing to believe whatever they wanted. It was sales.

But, now he has to be the American president, over a population that is still majority white and where a significant minority did not vote for him.

To do this legitimately will require overhaul of all his operations. No more dog whistles.

But honestly? I don’t see that happening. But it would be nice.

      • Candid Andy

You cannot really believe that O will only represent AAs, come on, are you being serious?

        • mimi

Is that a trick question Candid Andy? Certainly none of his Cabinet choices indicate that he’s going to represent black people at all.

          Get off that!

I do not understand your above point, are you saying has too many black in his cabinet or not enough?

I do not suppose you people will find succour in the fact that I only drink fruit juice, Kool Aid has far too much saccharine in it.

What is the big surprise? White America witnessed this type of conduct the during the campaign and still went to the polls and provided the necessary majority that allowed him to win. He had 96% of the heaviest turnout of AA in the history of Presidential elections. They voted pride over qualification and I understand that, but white America was voting for something called change and “hopey dopey” or G.. knows what! We are going to have to live with this for at least fours years and maybe eight years.

    • truthorconsequences

96% voted out of pride? Says a lot for intellect or common sense and good judgement. Oh well, what the hell? Everything has been heading in that direction ever since Nixon and Watergate–Reagen was out of the loop, B. Clinton thought it was okay to get a blowjob in the oval office and GW bush decided to make Iraq his personal battle-ground. Other than that we had Ford who couldn’t sit at the dinner table without falling out of the chair and Carter who thought the universe ran on peanuts. Now there is Obama who thinks the way out of the so called “peak oil ” problem is to air up all the tires and the worlds problems are all due to “White Men’s Greed”.

  • McCain Girl

I was raised by an extremely racist father. I am white. I have fought my whole life to not let his ideas and beliefs become my own. I want to see people as people, judge everyone on an individual basis. I have been very successful. I credit myself as being open minded, excepting, understanding. But with a lifetime of hatred spewing out all around me it has been a challenge at times, but a rewarding one in my opinion. I am trying to raise my children to look at people and judge them by their deeds and actions on an individual basis and give respect accordingly. It is hard when forced to live in a world where my own pres. does not publicly come forward and put a stop to the terrible things happening today against non-blacks. How can I tell my children to love everyone as God wants us to if people the pres. supports are ranting hate filled words about anyone not black. Not to mention publicly disrespecting our former pres. George Bush. You do not have to agree with someones politics but the color of their skin does not make all of their decisions wrong or right. Pres. Bush was a great man because he served 8 yrs as an american pres. Whether or not I agree with his ideas and what not does not mean he did not serve his country. Pres. Obama has yet to prove anything good about himself and I still respect the fact that he is our pres. and the first black one at that. That my friends is a hard shoe to fill. A lot will be laid at his door to prove more so than any other pres. in history. He should be setting a standard higher than anyone has ever seen. Only then will trash like Jay-Z and Young Jeezy not matter anymore. But by acknowledging those morons as his friends and making himself a fan lowers my expectations and makes my job as a parent harder than before. I fear living in a generation where it is considered appropriate to down other races is not a rewarding one. I pray my children will successed as I have and fight the easier road of hate and anger and take a higher path, though more difficult of exceptance and equality. God Bless the USA

    • wodiej

      Well said!

  • Diana

Apparently, it’s not just the music Obama likes to listen too. They’re still talking about the ending prayer here on the radio and in New York. “Where Black is now right, where Brown can now finally come back, and let us pray that the White People can and will finally do what is right.” I don’t know if that is an exact quote I never watched it. They’re saying Obama never addressed it, he hasn’t apologized.

I listened to people who voted for him even calling in angry about that prayer. Shocked. I just laughed. I don’t know what people expected, he listened to Rev. Wright for almost 20 years. His own books… His “Just Words” speech wasn’t his words. His “Yes We Can” also came from another politician. His “Candidate of Change” mantra came from his cousin Odinga’s campaign and that man has been accused of commiting genocide against his own people! His own wife’s words.

I think I’ll just stick to praying he will be a good president. I never voted for Obama, but I’d honestly like to see him succeed…to be a great president. To prove everything I believe about him and what he really believes, who he really is, to be a lie.

  • cassie

the problem was that any and every time that anyone tried to confront Obama with his racism, they were flipped off … Hillary and all the others were held hostage to that charge if they dared challenge him … as were the voters.

It’s too bad that America isn’t an Equal Opportunity Flipper and she and everyone he insulted, demeaned, patronized and offended couldn’t flip him right back – after all, they were racist if they did!

He was still dusting off the shoulder yesterday when he spoke about getting up and dusting oneself off … the message remains the same … and it sure is way past time to give up the childish things. I wish he’d at least give it a try

Meanwhile we’ll all wait until our first African-American president, one of character and not just of colour as MLK intended, takes that oath of office sometime in history and we can celebrate the same way if a woman were to “allowed” to be chosen. Women dancing, singing and celebraing with a racist misogynistic gangster? Wonder if they call themselves “feminists” too?

While Donna Brazile is on the teevee bragging about how she snatched the blanket he actually sat on as a souvenir … people of character?

    • rw

-While Donna Brazile is on the teevee bragging about how she snatched the blanket he actually sat on as a souvenir … people of character?-

bet she takes a swig of kool-aid and a big, long sniff of that blanket before putting her wideload cul-de-sac to bed at night now.

  • Ex-Democrat

Obama went out of his way to condemn Don Imus and implied that he should be fired…”he would not be working for me”.

Let’s see if his objection to racist remarks goes two ways…my guess is that Obama stays silent on JayZ and the black thugs.

  • tek

You knew this was going to happen because these people helped Obama get in office. It’s payback time. That’s one of the biggest problems with Obama–way too many people to pay back.

  • OxyCon

Don’t forget, Obama fed this racist bullcrap when he went before mostly black audiences during the campaign and uttered Spike Lee’s anti-white, racist venom from his “Malcolm X” movie.
Here’s the video that shows how Obama did this:

    Jay-Z

how DARE you say all hip hop is crudely dysfunctional ejaculation? That’s a much more crude, judgemental and offensive statement then anything I’ve found in Jay-Z’s lyrics.

    • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

      Free speech, baby! ^^^^

Get used to it. The whole black culture is under the microscope, now – the good and the blatantly bad.

Hip Hop and Rap will be the first to go!

    • candymarl

Did you watch the video? There was nothing uplifting in it. You are proving the point. If Jay-Z can write songs like that then why the foul language and denigration of women?

    • Ferd Berfle

Selected quotes do not an entire category make, dud. There are a scant few gems but the vast majority of rap and hip-hop is rubbish deserving of high-temperature heat treatment.

    • http://tojo toni

These lyrics are offensive. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther were of a whole different world, culture and character than Obama. More fairy tale stuff going on here.

  • cynic

Quite frankly, their “music” is nothing more than crudely dysfunctional emotional…

A long time back, blues was highly suspect. Late 1950s AM radio was segregated and some ranted about the socially destructive potential of “race music”. Rock ‘n roll had its early detractors. By the 1960s rock was nothing more than an advert for promiscuity, drug use, rebellion, and communism. (Damned hippies.) Shortly after, metal was obviously nothing short of satanic.

The Taliban certainly know how to deal with this sort of stuff. One could probably be stoned to death for possession of an accordian…

    • candymarl

Early rap was mostly social commentary. I know, I listened to it. There was no swearing, glorification of violence, or calling women b*tches and wh*res. I would let any child or adult listen to it.

If a Neo-Nazi group was putting out lyrics about killing black folks and demeaning women think of the howls of outrage. Pot meet kettle.

    • Ferd Berfle

      Cynic:

You’re comparing music to droning. Blues, jazz, rhythm and blues and other such music is lyrical, melodic and requires more than a modicum of talent. None of these talentless boobs could hold a candle to the stars of yesterday.

I was recently listening to Sly and the Family Stone–now that was music. War was a stellar group. Hell, MC Hammer has boatloads of talent in comparison to the rap and hip-hop hucksters of today.

The only thing you’ve convinced me of is that you have no taste in music.

      • cynic

I wasn’t suggesting I like the stuff. I’d sooner be trapped in an stuck elevator for 3 hours, subjected to continuous accordian band renditions of 70′s disco favorites.

        • Ferd Berfle

Then what isn’t music shouldn’t be parlayed as music. That is my point. The bot or hip-hoppers ot rappers can pontificate until they’re blue around the gills. It isn’t music.

Music is music and chanting is chanting. The two are not indentical. The former takes talent; the latter only takes an ability to follow the lead chanter.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

R&B in the early to mid 50′s was segregated because a lot of black music aimed at the lowest common denominator…”Annie had a baby, yes she did, Annie had a baby, it’s not my kid”…and “Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle wiggle wiggle, I just love your sexy ways” and who could forget…”60 Minute Man”. My friends and I listened to the black R&B music station out of Oakland with a DJ named “Jumpin’George” because it was forbidden. We didn’t have a clue as to how to have sex. I don’t want my grandchildren listening to the modern evolution of that swill…Rap. But, if we make it forbidden, they will. We expose them to everything else instead, knowing that the bottom feeder music will fall by the wayside.

Therefore, why take the person serious when they’re defending shit music and shit behavior.

Oh, but don’t forget, according to Sen Bill Nelson:

        • Ferd Berfle

          Beyonce and Jay-Z? ROFLMAO.

She is the one against which you decide what is in good taste in a man and he is the epitome of what constitutes proper treatment of a parent? You are truly shallow and on your way to a particularly difficult adulthood,

          • oh no

Considering 1. She married him and 2. she probably knows him better than anyone except his mother who he continually gives props to both in his music and in his life…I think they’re slightly better judges of what his attitudes are towards women than you! But please, don’t let me stop you from judging others!

            • http://! stodgie

oh ho, dang! quoting fan magazines sure isn’t something to use in a pathetic effort to post here.

              • ohno

Ok, tell me the logic behind claiming that a man’s wife and mother are the two closest women to him is somehow a factoid only gleened from a fan magazine. You’re SO pathetic. Maybe the closest woman in his life is Angela Bassett oh noooooooo!

            • Ferd Berfle

I’m talking about you, moron. There are better examples to be had. You are a stupid little bot who thinks “stars” have all the knowledge.

You are as dumb as pounded manure.

              • ohno

Boy, way to attribute intent based on your own biases! I just like the music and always have. You’re the one thinking somehow they hold satanic sway over…well…I’m not sure exactly what you think because frankly it makes no sense, just like it made no sense when the same crap was said about rock and roll and jazz music. Wrap it up, head back to the old folks home!

                • http://! stodgie

Does that mean that you will stop judging others also, oh no?

    • candymarl

Blues and jazz were the result of actual life experiences of black folk. It wasn’t about denigrating other black folk. It wasn’t about white folk. It was our music for us.

There many older conservative black folk, my grandmother was one, that didn’t approve of that type of music either. But I guess she was a racist too.

      • ohno

Nope, just using arguments used by racists to justify their racism. Hope that makes you feel better!

Oh yes, the “music stylings” of Jay-Z have brought dignity and honor to Our country and confirms that the 2008 selection of Mr. Soertoro/Obama was about giving a voice to the downtrodden misogynists and unfulfilled hatemongers who worked so hard to steal votes for him. There is no doubt that Mr. Jay-Z is showing the world an American face rarely seen since the days of the Ugly American. What George W. Bush began in 2000 will be continued by The Obama and Jay-Z will be here to capture it with song for the world to remember. Uh huh!

  • I’m a Linda too

Some pretty telling words from JayZ and this is what and who the president wants to promote?

“The ‘History’ record is really about — once again — about making history,” he explained. “But I use different words as if they were women: ‘Success. I met success and success was a sister of defeat.’

You know, if you listen to the record it’s pretty much talking about trying to find victory, victory being a woman, and so me and victory can make a kid — the kid being history, and then history tells your legacy. It’s deep but it’s fun. It’s not really that complicated.”

mmmhmmmm. He sure has and uses a lot of words as women.

i might start rattling of words that mean Jay Z. lol

Here’s a test for music lovers at NQ (and for bots who think they are experts at everything):

    1. Of what race was Sarah Vaughan?
    2. Of what race was Stevie Ray Vaughan?
    3. Who left the Animals to be the lead singer for WAR?
    4. We Don’t Get Fooled Again had what famous line in it?
    5. What group made the song in number 4?
    6. Who got down just for the funk of it?
    7. What musical parody has the line and my shadow weighs forty-two pounds?
    8. The phrase Everbody must get stoned is a phrase in what song?
    9. Who wrote the song in number 8?
    10. Big Love is a show on HBO. It is also a song by what group?

I’m an old relic, but I can tell you (honestly) that Harry S. Truman’s [ugly] daughter was a terribile musician and it pissed him off to no end when anyone told the truth about it. LOL!!! Music is great, but I somehow can’t hear the “MUSIC” in RAP.

          • Ferd Berfle

I can’t hear the music in rap, either, truth. Stay tuned–I think Buzz is going to get all of them.

I am not presumptious, troll–Take the test, child, if you think you can pass it, being all-knowing as you apparently think you are. You are the one who made all the foolish statements about the past and music–one which you are clueless about.

Your try wasn’t even a try. You failed. The Fleetwood mac song was from 1987, probably the year before you were born. Try the harder ones.

        • Candid Andy

I did not take your test because you are not the arbiter of good taste or good music, my mind is always open to new things, recent or older, cos music is my first love. I’ll listen to anything that’s good, from Bossa Nova to Afro beats. That’s the joy of good music.

          • Ferd Berfle

If you think rap and hip-hop are music, you don’t know good music.

            • Candid Andy

I give up, seems you prefer myopia and narrow mindedness, good luck bruh.

              • Ferd Berfle

I ain’t your “bruh”, assuming one. You ain’t even in my league, buster.

The myopia begins with your blinders and not my taste in music, troll.

              • oowawa

                myopia and narrow mindedness

Hmmm. That would put us on the M-List or the N-List. We’ll never get invited to any cool parties at this rate.

                • oowawa

On second thought, I think that as far as Obama Nation is concerned, we’re pretty much all already on the S-List. We won’t be invited to boogie-down with Jay-Z & Beyonce anytime soon!

          • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

You didn’t take the test because you didn’t know the answers. Get real,, obot.

            • Candid Andy

Lol, oh ok. Your little test proves that you all know music, I could devise my own test and you would not know one single answer. but it matter not, what you know is best, right?

              • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Yes, but would it really be a test about – MUSIC?

                • Ferd Berfle

Excellent, Buzz, and a tip of the Tam O’ Shanter.

              • Ferd Berfle

No one said it did, child. I only said you were the one who brought up all the old style music as if you knew anything about it. I lived through a lot of it, unlike you and everything I asked was done on the fly by memory with no notes, no internet to help me, and no coaching. You see, unlike you, I grew up in a world where you had to remember everything because it wasn’t there a mouse-click away. You boobs think you know everything because you can sit at a desk and find it by exercising your flimsy wrist. That is no challenge at all. Try to remember something by rote memory. I bet you’d whistle a different form of Dixie, then.

                • Candid Andy

Lol, you know nothing about me and what I know or otherwise. This is the problem with you all, you’re narrow minded and you keep equating being young with being stupid. Are you just mad cos you are old? what is it?

                  • TeakWoodKite

equating being young with being stupid.

                    Ruuuunnnnn Forest!!!

                    • Ferd Berfle

                      ROFL.

                  • Ferd Berfle

Narrow minded? LMAO. You always change the subject away from YOU, like every “good bot” (a contradiction in terms) before you. I stand by all my statements, Goober. Am I mad because I’m old? Again, LMAO. If you get to be as old as me, you’ll be lucky, punk, because you’re wet behind the ears, gullible to a fault, and believe you know everything there is to know. You’re the sort who would argue with the Pope concerning matters of Dogma. And the Pope would kick your ass, in case you didn’t know.

                    • stodghie

i demand a better class of troll. who do i write about this issue? at least ubm makes the occasional pun with the sexual innudeno. thought it is rather high school, at least it can be sorta funny. this group of trolls are full of themselves and don’t have any reason to be. ugly little trolls!

                    • Ferd Berfle

You’re spot on. These trolls are basement dwellers. I can just make out their chin-strapped beanies and cheeto-encrusted cheeks.

                    • Candid Andy

Have noticed that the more erroneous your point is, the more you resort to name calling? hmmn? Not to worry I am thick skinned.

Hey, age is not a pre-requisite for wisdom and that is so true in you case. You may be old but you do not possess an iota of wisdom, just a big mouth and a bitter heart, that’s all.

                    • AMERICA R.I.P.

What do you consider OLD Azz Candy? I am 39, is that old to you crapstain?

                    • Candid Andy

You’re mad now aren’t you? Old is relative to the subject, so if the shoe fits, you know what to do.

                    • stodghie

rancid, i left a little nibble below for you. i’d grab it as the cleaning crew is coming to throw you out of that free internet cafe. by the way buy more than one cup as you sit there for hours. a young man on the move in london wouldn’t be doing what you are doing. it says to me you are in school and a braggart.

                    • Candid Andy

Lol, I am sitting on my bed tapping away, i am rather bored, the missus is in New York, so hey a lot of time on my hands for you loonies, hey?

                    • WildChild

hey (LOL) get back to us when you know for sure

                    • AMERICA R.I.P.

Rancid Ass Candy…where you come from, don’t they have laws about 15 year olds getting married? Again, you are a LIAR.

  • Karen

I despise Obama solely because of the race-baiting against both Clintons, but woke up this morning thinking that maybe he could change the culture of rap and the filth that it represents. I don’t think he will do anything, but imagine how much he could elevate the discussion!

I am a teacher in an underpriviledged district and have seen first-hand the devastation being done to these impressionable kids in a culture of rap, despair, hate, and racism. So many of them are choosing to join gangs, quit school, do drugs, etc. Obama could use the bully-pulpit and fundamentally change our culture and society for the better.

Unfortunately, as we all know, he has no experience doing anything, so I won’t hold my breath. What a waste for our country. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong.

    • Candid Andy

And this all being done by rap? not the underfunded schools, the single parent home and an American culture that looks down on academic success. Hmmn.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

        Please don’t respond to trolls.

    • T-R

Obama has shown his attitude toward filthy misogynistic lyrics – he raps along to the garbage with his daughters.

He could prove you wrong if it means his own self gain, but otherwise he thinks it’s just fine – very unlikely he would want to change a thing.

  • KintheNorthwest

Ok now I am getting all the hand gestures, even though I was uncomfortable with them as it was when he did them.

  • oowawa

Jay-Z is regarded as an “A-list” celebrity, even by the so-called MSM.

An “A-list” celebrity? What the heck does the “A” stand for? I’m holey in the dark on this.

    • Ferd Berfle

      abysmal?

      • T-R

Yes, it means our culture has sank into the abyss.

      • oowawa

LOL. Besides the word I was originally thinking of, there is one word that to me sums it all up:

        Arrogant.

        • Ferd Berfle

          That one works even better.

    • http://! stodgie

they thik lohan is A list also. except for an occasional barely adequate movie protrayal, the answer is not one thing. A List because some airhead from entertaiment tonight says so. please!

      • http://! stodgie

i forgot. poor lohan who is also functionally illerate is also not any type of role model with her frequent trips to rehab and spectacular falls. of course being addicted is a disease and we should feel sympathy for this. but the fact is going to rehab is almost required for being an “a”list now. does A stand for addicted? seems to me it does. my complaint is not we those who have the problem but with the hero worship being misplaced.

    • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Would that A in A-list stand for, oh I don’t know, Azzhole?

      • Ferd Berfle

        azzhat?
        azzmaggot?

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Would that be “through” that you were shooting for?

No getting through or around, little bot. Because, we rule. Never forget that and your life will go a whole lot better.

    • Candid Andy

Lol, yea, there is no getting through to you, you’re comfortable in your vacuity.

I do not run, I am right here.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

        Do not respond to trolls.

      • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

As comfortable as you in your smug cluelessness?

        • Ferd Berfle

          Zing!

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

C-rancid Andy seems to have left the building , sorry aZZ in hand.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

A sure fire way to get rid of them is not to talk to them. Let them lurk if they want, but no fair letting them take over the thread. Ignore them and talk amongst yourselves. It’s hard because you want to correct their sorry reasoning. Can’t be done. They won’t change us nor we them.

    • Candid Andy

So you’d rather talk to people who agree with you only, no wonder you learn nothing. Hmmn.

      • Ferd Berfle

What could anyone possible learn from a wet-behind-the-ears obamabot troll who thinks rap is music and being old is a disadvantage?

You think way too highly of yourself, little man.

    • stodghie

we need to hang signs saying please don’t feed the trolls. smile!

    • Ferd Berfle

Trolls need a good smiting now and again just so they understand that whatever crap it is they’re peddling, we have a sure-fire remedy for it.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

    Aww come on…

C-rancid Andy has been fun to toy with – kinda of like the proverbial mouse to the house cat.

    • Ferd Berfle

Rancid Candy is probably Little Debbie troll snack reincarnated as a horribly-forshortened cinnamon bun.

      • Candid Andy

Lol, yu people are not on my level, look you’re like a pack of ferral wolves, attacking in a pack. Making very little sense, hurling insult.

Proverbial mouse to house cat? Please, I do not have a scratch on me.

        • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Oh, we know the scratches aren’t visible.

When the insults and excuses start from a troll, that’s sure indicator that collateral damage has taken place.

        • WildChild

come come now, wolves can’t be feral.

      • wodiej

LOL…well look at the IQ level, he can’t spell or use proper grammar, probably in the 10th grade for his 3rd time.

    • AMERICA R.I.P.

Rancid Azz Candy would be fun to play with, sans the LIES of course.

      • Candid Andy

I am waiting, I told you already though, you’re the liar not me, so, let’s get that straight.

  • Candid Andy

Ok, all you angry bitter old folks, I gotta go to sleep now, it has been fun, lets do this again tomorrow. It is rather late down here in London 01:05 to be exact, so catch you all later.

  • Candid Andy

This is not an exam dude, relax, I use ‘cos’, because I do not want to type out ‘because’ all the time, hey? I am not trying to impress you, you’re stuck in you ways, an old dog that does now want to learn new tricks, I am surprised you even know how to use internet.

    • stodghie

rancid andy, you are so funny! i suppose that coffee shop with free internet in london conn is throwing you out because you haven’t bought another cup of coffee for hours.

people who have it on the ball don’t brag on blogs about being in london every other post. they don’t care if the person they are corresponding is 18 or 80 only that they show courtesy and have knowledge. you are rude, not well informed and a braggart. none of this recommends you as a so called stellar dude with a such a bright future that a firm either with an office in england or english would employ you.

      grow up!

      • Candid Andy

What? look at this Johnny come lately. Have you been following the thread? I did not mention being in London until someone told a bare faced liar, the lie needed to be exposed. Secondly, i respect older people, but respect is reciprocal, I am being dissed for being young so, I think the same is due to the person hurling out insults. I love to debate and be challeneged hence my presence on this site, I am enjoying myself but I must say I am not being challanged because it’s been all insults and no facts.

But you’re fairer than most on here, you seem somewhat reasonable.

        • AMERICA R.I.P.

Go ahead and prove it was a lie. I had yet ANOTHER conversation with my friend at the BBC today. Seems all is not happy in the UK with that news about the Koran. Although if you REALLY were in the UK you WOULD have read all of the really negative articles about Obama and that asinine “Coronation.”

          • Candid Andy

I saw a less than flattering article in the express but that paper is only read by ultra right wingers, so i was not surprised. it is not in the mainstream media, as you may or may not know, Britain is to the left of America when it comes to politics, so of course they are loving O right now.

            • AMERICA R.I.P.

You have exposed yourself officially for the same fraud your boss is. I have never in my life read more scathing criticism of Obama than from both England and Canada. You have lost your mind, are a liar, and you need to go smoke some more crack loser.

              • Candid Andy

Dude, shall I post a link to all the dailies or you comfortable in your lies? Hmmn?

                • WildChild

first of all, why would we care what is being said in a country that couldn’t keep its empire together?

                • AMERICA R.I.P.

                  Congratulations America! London Daily Mail

                  The London Daily Mail
                  3 January 2009

                  Obama’s victory?

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world.Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered an d beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers’ unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.
                  >Congratulations America!

                  • Candid Andy

Lol the Daily Mail? It’s like the Waashington Times only 10 times worst. dude, look at the Guardian, Times, Independent, Telegraph, that’s what most people read, even the famed tabloid, the sun, had a glowing front page of O and his family.

                  • AMERICA R.I.P.

Azz Candy…I can go all night, actually for weeks, with these articles. You want to challenge me? EVERYONE knows Obama is a fraud and America’s coffin nail. Everyone with a BRAIN that is.

                    • Candid Andy

Of course, you can always dig out wack articles to prove your point, that does not bother me but your point that the brits are dissing O is just not true, they LOVE him over here.

                    • AMERICA R.I.P.

LOL…If you were really “over there” we could talk. I am a little tired of you Troll, so have a good night. It’s really frustrating dealing with infantile liars. But that’s what your boss is so I guess that’s what he hires.

                    • AMERICA R.I.P.

PS Ignorant Troll…Millions of people in the UK love Mick Jagger too. Doesn’t mean he should be President of the United States does it?

                    • Candid Andy

No, you don’t believe because you think i am a liar like you. Sweet dreams.

                    • AMERICA R.I.P.

No, Troll Azz Rancid Candy…I KNOW you are a lying troll. Why would you be here? We don’t feel the way you do, and like minds are available for you and the freakshow sites like Huffpoop and Daily Krap. No one would be here and take the abuse if it wasn’t a job. That makes you pathetic. Obama is scum and filth. We all know that. But to have to earn a living being a big fat liar “blogger” for him is just sick and wrong. I feel sorry for you. And cut the London crap out. Really. NO ONE believes you.

    • Ferd Berfle

You have little functional knowledge of the Queen’s English. A person makes the time to use the language correctly or does not post unless they want to look the part of a fad follower or lowbrow. I posted in less time, correctly, than what probably took you the better part of 5 minutes to post and mine is gramatically incorrect.

Try using a semi-colon or two or perhaps a period once in a while.

      • Ferd Berfle

        Oops. I meant “gramatically correct.”

        LMAO

        • Candid Andy

No, I am not trying to impress you nor do I feel the need to be formal. I am here chilling, sipping some Rose, I am no longer tired now, listening to a love supreme and talking to you all. let’s have a debate, challenge me.

          • WildChild

            wouldn’t that be redundant?

            • Candid Andy

              methinks you have underestimated me.

              • WildChild

you’re human right? Made of meat?

          • stodghie

andy, it isn’t our job to challenge you. hint hint, you are supposed to do that. this sit back and entertain me mentality says lazy! if indeed you are in london and meeting people from around the world you have to know how far down in education, level of knowledge on many levels including history, geography and world happenings the typical american has sunk to in recent years.

            • Candid Andy

I know how low the collctive (Western) European opinion of the U.S. and I do get bothered by the generalizations from time to time but I am not that typical American of which you speak because I read and I am curious about the world, ok?

              • stodghie

it is more than collective western opinion. it is reality.

                • Candid Andy

I do not agree with that.

                  • stodghie

aaaaaaaaaaaah rancid, big mistake! the average american’s knowledge is pathetic. we graduate functionally illerate students each year. they can’t read, write, or balance their check books. this is an american idol nation dumbed down more every year. they have for the most part no critical thinking skills.

                    • Candid Andy

Yes, I agree that our education system needs to be revamped but I do not think that every American can be labeled ‘dumb’ as is the oft repeated insult over here.

                    • stodghie

dumb is as dumb does! the lack of critical thinking skills is evident in so many ways. entertainment, the media, elections! take a look at some of the questions asked voters. many of the obama supports thought the repubs still controlled congress.

                    • Ferd Berfle

many of the obama supports thought the repubs still controlled congress.

                      You’re spot on, Stodghie.

And when they were told, as a lark, that Sarah Palin was running with That One, they were all for her.

Their interest only took them as far as the outward appearance of That One and no further.

Thanks bots for only looking at the packaging and not the contents thereof.

                    • Candid Andy

I am well aware of who controls congress, I am a politics nut, so.

                    • stodghie

andy, my point wasn’t about your knowledge. it is about the average american. their test scores are way below many other nations now. that isn’t good.

                    • Candid Andy

But for the past 8 years, the education system has been controlled by people who do not believe government ought to have a say in it, so what do you expect?

The No Child Left Act was nonsense and still, children are being taught to the test, it’s a little heart breaking but such is life.

                      Have you watched the wire?

                    • stodghie

andy i used to be a teacher. i have quite a bit of knowledge regarding such. the federal reserve has published what i have written. (sorry but i named dropped! hehe)

                    • Candid Andy

Have you watched ‘The Wire’? you really should, esp. season 4. It is so heart breaking. I must admit I do not know much about the system but watching that show taught me a few things.

Is there a link to your article?

                    • stodghie

i wish i could give you a link. i have some copies of it in my filing cabinet. it was an honor. i actually wrote it for hud in dc and the federal reserve saw it.

the wire is good unlike some shows these days.

                    • Candid Andy

Oh that’s a shame. Well I am glad you watch the wire, that is the show that piqued my interest in the education system.

                  • WildChild

                    riveting (LMAO)

                  • Ferd Berfle

I lived in Germany for nearly 3 years in the 1970s. They thought very little of Americans and their lack of knowledge of world affairs and their arrogance. At the time we were called ugly Americans. You match that description to a tee, Rancid. All-knowing, with a lack of respect for tradition or your elders.

But what goes around will come back and bite you in your sorry arrogant kiester. I hope your children, if you ever have any, are as ugly to you as you are to us of the older generation.

                    • Candid Andy

                      Ferd,

Do yourself a favour and read back every single comment you have written to me and see how laden with insults they all are. I am not an arrogant yank, my mind is open to different cultures, peoples and I always endeavour to learn about the places I go. Hence me being well versed in British, Spanish, Malian and Bahian cultures, thank you so much. You do not know so don’t rush to judgement, ok?

My children will be taught to do unto other as they will have done unto them, ok?

                    • WildChild

then I guess they’ll be called loonies. LOL like father like spawn.

                    • Ferd Berfle

                      Rancid:

Read back your posts where you called us old bitter folk simply because you didn’t like what we said about your master.

You are not only a liar but a poor liar. And yes, I did take you to task because you are a form of botulism, an unwanted infection on the body electorate.

If you want us to be civil, you need to start off on the right foot and not the far left one as you did all day long.

I would imagine that most NQers feel the way I do–you need to find yourself a place to worship That One and leave us adults to the serious discussions.

                      Buh-bye troll.

                    • Candid Andy

You, espcially, are an angry bitter old fart, who is unwilling to consider a view that differs from his (or is it hers?). I like O, I voted for him but I do not agree with on everything, that does not a robot make but i guess you foolish devotion to your own point of view blinds you to that fact.

I have not told any lies cos the truth will suffice for any debate or challenge you want to pose but no, you foam at the mouth like some deranged fox news anchor.

                    • Ferd Berfle

                      Rancid:

You have failed to answer to the charge that you started this by coming to a blog that was not of your partisan nature and proceeded to call us names.

So now are you not only a liar, but a liar who uses the ruse of misdirection to deflect the heat coming his way.

You are an obamabot or else you studied his tactics to become a bot unto yourself. Rancid Candybot has a nice ring to it. You may use it as you like.

Either way, you should really find yourself another venue for your jib-flapping. I suggest HuffnPuffPo, which is down the hall and under the dumpster on the extreme left.

                    • WildChild

I’m going to laugh my ass off when the first person calls your kids angry bitter old farts. LOL like father like spawn

                    • Candid Andy

I think senility is setting in for both you. Weirdos.

      • stodghie

ferd, you cut with the class of churchill!

That is so disgusting that Obama would listen to this type of music with those darling little girls of his. Does Michelle join them? The man has no morals.

  • Johnny Smithfield

Obama on hip hop…From Rolling Stone article last year:

What do you think of rap? Has it been unfairly attacked for destroying family values?

By definition, rock & roll is rebel music, which means if it’s not being criticized, it’s probably not doing its job. I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics, but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music. Music was very segregated back in the Seventies and Eighties — you’ll remember that when MTV first came on, it wasn’t until Thriller that they played Michael.

I know Jay-Z. I know Ludacris. I know Russell Simmons. I know a bunch of these guys. They are great talents and great businessmen, which is something that doesn’t get emphasized enough. It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.

Overall, what do you think of pop culture today? Is it a harmful or a healthy influence?
I’m not somebody who thinks that popular culture should carry the whole freight; it both shapes and reflects what’s happening in the country as a whole. What I have seen is a shift in attitudes of young people wanting to be more engaged and more involved, and you’re going to start seeing that increasingly reflected in music as well. Every time I talk to Jay-Z, who is a brilliant talent and a good guy, I enjoy how he thinks, and he’s serious and he cares about his art. That’s somebody who is going to start branching out and can help shape attitudes in a real positive way.

My sense is that artists go through phases.
They start off expressing what they know and the stories they have to tell, and they’re not necessarily thinking in terms of making a social statement. I don’t think that should be a criteria for music. Over time, their worldviews broaden, and their music starts expressing that as well.

    • Ferd Berfle

Music wasn’t segregated in the 70s and 80s. And MTV didn’t come around until 1982. That One knows even less about music than he does about transparency.

Jebus, from where do these revisionists get their bullshit?

    • Ferd Berfle

That One can’t even get his music straight. Music was not segregated in the 70s or 80s. In fact, it wasn’t segrated in the late 60s.

Think of the popular groups of that time. I can name a lot of them and about 50% were black groups.

      More mush-headed manure.

  • AMERICA R.I.P.

    Johnny,

Whether or not Obama lets his children listen to that vile crap…there are OTHER people in this country. Some of us still regard this country with love, dignity and honor. Something you people don’t know about. JayZ has the 1st Amendment right to spew his filthy crap wherever he wants. No one is stopping him and he is making a fortune from it off of kids who don’t know better. But the Inauguration is something to be shared by ALL Americans. Not just black people who hate the white people who gave Obama the chance. But, that goes to show you. The mentality is that no one else in the world matters. Really sick shit.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

So which is it, does Obama condone what Jay-Z does or is this another example of bamboozlement?

    His sense, big deal.

  • Ferd Berfle

The philosophy of Rancid Candy: “I post, therefore I am”.

    • Candid Andy

Nah, you’re way off there dude.

      • Ferd Berfle

Oh, you’re of the St. Anselm group of philosophers–There is a being than which no lesser can be conceived–Rancid Candy.

Of course, I did take liberties with the quote since his original quote was surely not about sheep like you.

      • WildChild

So true, the rest of us had you tagged for a nobody the second you opened your mouth.

        • Candid Andy

I am not a sheep unlike you all, saying the same things, afraid to challenge on another. You’re just mad at the world wildchild, get over it.

          • Ferd Berfle

You are the one who follows; you are the one who bought what the con artist was selling; you are the one who failed to see the warning signs.

Contrary to your ill-considered opinion, those of us regulars at NQ have thought this through. We saw That One as the finger-to-the-wind panderer as he has proven himself to be by taking every one of HRCs positions and making them his own.

Don’t come here thinking that you can pull the wool over our eyes. Many and brighter bots have come before you and have left empty handed, to match their empty skulls.

            • Candid Andy

There is nothing worse than someone who thinks that he knows it all. I did not come here on some ‘oh, O is a messiah’ vibe, I came to state my opinion.

I will not be cowed by a bitter old fool like you.

              • Ferd Berfle

Bitter? LMAO. I merely like to ruffle the feathers of little strutting bantam roosters like you.

            • stodghie

ferd, i am out to a late dinner. have a nice evening!

              • Ferd Berfle

You, too, stodghie. Have a nice dinner.

          • WildChild

Hmmmm, if I’m a sheep. That would make you Bo Peep (Bwah Ha Ha) . Though I seriously doubt the bullshit doctor phil psychoanalysis you are regaling us with is going to move anyone or anything anywhere other then closer to the vomitorium.

            • Candid Andy

Wildchild, you’re as bad as your brethren Ferd, I have no time for you.

              • WildChild

AWWWW, what’s the matter sparkles? Did da mean ol feral wolves scamper your inner mouse again?

  • Candid Andy

Good night to all the sane folks, it’s 02.47 over here and I have to sleep now, it’s been fun.

    • WildChild

LOL apparently … da wolves did.

  • Seattle Moss

So Robert Reich wants to deny white males jobs under the stimulus package and give those jobs to the unemployable and minorities.

I think Reich should be replaced with a minority

    Wait a minute…He is a minority

    The midget vote…

  • leo

It looks like all of Hollywood needed to cash in on this one. And they did. What a mess.
