The only reason for someone like Geithner to be doing his own taxes with Turbotax is because he's trying to get around his accountant who would tell him to pay his taxes.

This is Geithner's middle finger salute to every taxpayer in America.

He needs to step down--NOW! Obama is showing very poor judgment with this pick.

How about Tim, the tax-cheating taxman? Love that ring.Personally I'd like to see them shut down spending for bailours and stimulus. License to steal the Chicago way. Of course we are told ad nauseam of the wonderful transparency, just like a brick wall.

Guys do your two cents too. I wrote to my state congressmen. If everyone did that then just maybe they will hold this guy up.
If he had not be nominated he still would not have paid his taxes. His excuses are so unrealistic a five-year old could have come up with a better ones.

IF he gets approved this will be an even bigger slap than all the other fraudualent things Obama has done.

Would someone please define what "I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY ACTIONS" means in demo-speak.Geithner is a smart man. So his actions were not done out of stupidity they were done out of arrogance. Under the radar and above the law makes for dangerous decisions. So far the economy has been in a meltdown sice September 14th 2008, and 350 billion later we are no better off. A hasty approval of Geithner will be regretted in the future.

He should not be confirmed but he will be. And so be it. Let Obama have his wonder boy so that they both can take whatever blame for whatever happens economically in the next four years. Otherwise, if he's not nominated, then anytime something does not go well economically, the Obamabots and the Democrats will blame it on Geitner not being confirmed.

I think the Republicans would be better served using their energy voting against the current bailout in the works than any of Obamas administration picks. Let the man have the people he wants so that if he fails, then it's all on him.

C'mon. Give the poor guy a break. He forgot to pay a few measly taxes! Haven't you guys ever forgotten something sometimes? Maybe he listened to the Steve Martin "I Forgot" routine in Comedy Is Not Pretty and took it to heart. Blame Steve, not Tim.

The truth is that his tax issue is NOT an honest mistake. Any employee of the IMF/World Bank will be happy to tell you the truth.

1. Tim was given and signed a paper at orientation that explained that he would be liable for the employee and employer portions of SSec.

2. Tim was given quarterly (16 times) tax reimbursement checks with a memo as to what it was for - again restating his liability for employee and employer taxes.

We are expected to believe that a financial expert uses off-the-shelf software for 2 years and does not notice that it only includes the employee taxes. Duh!

When caught by the IRS - 5 years later - he pays NO PENALTY! This really galls employees of the World Bank/IMF - it is common to fall behind in payments - those tax reimbursement checks hitting your bank account are hard to resist - but EVERYONE else has to pay severe late payment penalties.

The real issue? After getting caught for his final 2 years - he NEVER THINKS to look back at his previous 2 years of employment? Huh? A financial expert? Then in testimony his response is that it was past the statute of limitations? How is that possible?

We are all liable for past due taxes.

Now after 7 years - he pays for those 2 years and again pays NO PENALTY OR LATE FEE?

What really galls me is that the press acts like it was an honest oversight. It was not. He tried to get away with something, got caught, got a favor from the IRS to not pay any penalties/late fines...and then DID IT AGAIN!
