Scenes of Sadness..Suffering..Smoke and Fire
As The Cameras Rolled Relentlessly On
Showing the Death Dance of the Twins…..

Airplane Arrows Pierced Their Hearts and Ours
Staring in Wonder At the Madness of Madmen
Called Terrorists and Ji Hadists…and Extremists
Killers Whose Heaven is Hell .Making..

War with Little Children and Innocent Souls..
Of People Who Never Even Wished Them Harm
But who Died Horrible Deaths From Atrocious Acts
As the Twins Crumbled with Broken Backs…

Fuel Fed Flames consuming People and Pentagon
Crashing Chaos of Death and Destruction of Life
But Not The Spirit of Liberty..You see The Flag..
Flying Among the bloody Canvas ..of Insanity…

    As this is an open thread…

    Just recently, I saw a comment referring to the latest CBS “60 Minutes” report. It had no link. The report is about the potential for a two-state solution for the Israelis and the Palestinians, and it seems to me a very good report.

    Here is the link (It’s far from 60 minutes long; I would guess about 15 — I forgot to note its length.)

    Patrick Henry, thanks for sharing this moving piece. I don’t “get” much modern poetry, didn’t have a clue as to the inaugural poem. . .but I do understand the grief you felt when writing this.

    I will be forever reminded of the photos of one plane against that blue sky, right before impact. It could be called “beautiful”, but oh what ugliness was revealed!

      Thank You hampster for Putting My Poem up here at No Quarter..It was My of expressing the grief I felt for all those Who Died..and were Injured..I am so Impresssed with the responders..many who lost thier own Lifes..I am impressed at he Great American Will and Spirit that Brought us through This Event.
      .I was Moved to see our flag flying in the middle of that Smoldering rubble..

      I Hope that the Hatred that caused that event and all Wars and killing will STOP..Indelogocial..religious and Grred motivated hatred MUST Stop..Gang violence MUST STOP..Spousal and Child Abuse MUST STOP..

      Thank you all for Commenting on this Poem and those who took the Time to read it too..

    We must never forget that day. Yes, contempt for a group as a whole will just keep us down, but we cannot forgive the groups and governments who orchestrated 9/11. Quite frankly, I’m tired of being PC. Sometimes too much liberty is not a good thing. It seems to be backfiring on us, right on our own soil. We are being trampled and mocked while our laws are ignored and our values are seen as a dying entity that doesn’t fit everyone’s culture or religion, and must be quashed. Look what’s happening to Europe … Obama seems to embrace that kind of change.

      Excellent tie in and point you are making..I feel Exactly the same way you do..and your links are perfect..

      I understand Your poiunt about “Liberty”..being a tarnished Word Nowadays..beccause oif the Actions of the bush administartion..after 9/11..The dangers of a “Patriot Act” and Executive Acts broad using of NSA Intercepts without FISA…on the claim that it is In Our BEST INEREST..for “National Security” reasons..and the abuses at Gutanamo and a Tendacy towards ignoring “Due Process” ..

      Those actions by Represenatives of the united states Government have tended to Combine “LIBERTY”
      with Political Abuse..and make us seem more like
      other so called Democracys like Russia..

      I am angry that our politcians have tarnished Americas World Wide Image so Bad..What they have done is not the LIBERTY I reffered to in my Poem or Believe in..

    5 Children, 2 Adults Found Dead in Wilmington Home

    WILMINGTON, Calif. — A man apparently upset about his job situation killed his wife and five children before committing suicide at their home, according to Los Angeles police.

    Seven Bodies Found in Wilmington Home

    Police investigate after the discovery of seven bodies in a Wilmington home.
    Responding to a report of a shooting, officers discovered the bodies of a man, woman, 8-year-old girl, two 5-year-old twin girls and two 2-year-old twin boys, according to LAPD Deputy Chief Kenneth Garner.

    “He was despondent, clearly, over his job situation,” Garner said of the father.

    This is horrific news.

    We need to look out for our family, friends, neighbors and help where we can.

    People need to stick together so we can help each other get through this.

    The feeling of hopelessness and helplessness caused by the present economic conditions can have deadly repurcussions- even for those young ‘innocents’ who may have no clue as to what is going on…

      WWII Veteran Freezes To Death In Own Home
      Bay City Electric & Light Restricted Power To Man’s Home After Not Paying Bills

      BAY CITY, Mich. — TV5 and WNEM.com has learned about new circumstances surrounding Marvin Schur’s death.

      A limiter on Schur’s electric meter is being blamed for the man’s death. Now Bay City said it will notify customers before their power is shut off.

      Michigan’s Attorney General Mike Cox said Tuesday he would review the case.

      One local lawyer said the question remains, who is accountable in this war veteran’s death?

      Ed Czuprynski, a constitutional attorney, said the city could be liable. “I really think it’s a disgusting situation and it’s a shame that Bay City is put beneath this light.”

      Czuprynski said Bay City could be liable for the death of Marvin Schur.

      It was 32 degrees inside Schur’s house when neighbors found his body.

      It has a review board that sets its standards. Now it could be sued as a result of its policy on limiters and the fact that it didn’t personally notify Schur about the device.
      Czuprynski said usually cities can’t be sued, but that might not be the case in the death of the World War II veteran.

      Officials in central Michigan say a 93-year-old man who owed more than $1,000 in unpaid electric bills froze to death inside his home — where the municipal power company had restricted his use of electricity.

      Unfortunately , in this case the 93 year old WW11 vet had caring neighbors however it appears that he may never been notified that his electricity would be shut off. If he did know, perhaps he could have sought help from them?
