No Doubt About It

Obama and Bush are birds of a feather. Oh, I have written numerous times before regarding ALL of the similarities these two have HERE and HERE, with connections all along the way. And now we have this story to aid us with a visual, Hey Bam, That’s Not The Door!:

It looks like President Obama hasn’t gotten acquainted to his White House surroundings. On the way back to the Oval Office Tuesday, the President approached a paned window, instead of the actual door — located a few feet to his right.

Uh, yeah. That would be a window, as evidenced by the fixed nature, lack of hinges, and a doorknob. Ahem.

As a reminder:

Doors didn’t open automatically for Obama’s predecessor either. While making a hasty exit from a 2005 press conference in Beijing, former President George W. Bush tugged on the handles of a door, only to find it locked.

Bush laughed off the blunder, but the pictures still live on as part of Bush’s lame duck legacy. However, there was little note taken of Obama’s rookie mistake.

Really? The media is going to ignore yet another “mistake” of Obama’s? What a new and different approach for their treatment of Obama! Cough. Ahem.

C’mon, already – this is pretty damn laughable. How can they ignore this? Shoot, at least Bush was somewhere unfamiliar – this was at the freakin’ Oval Office!! You better believe if this had been ANYONE else, ANYONE, it would be leading all of the news stories. Oh, well, I guess I should be thankful SOMEONE is covering it. The article finishes up with a bit of an excuse (again, oh what a surprise):

Obama, who was returning from meeting with Congressional leaders, may have been distracted by Republicans’ icy reception to his $825 billion stimulus package, which is poised to pass on Wednesday even without a groundswell of Republican support.

Yeah, that’s the ticket. He was thrown off his stride by those schmucky Republicans! What is their problem not wanting to hand out even more money for things like, oh, $600 million more for its fleet of 600,000 government cars? So what if the US Government is already spending a cool $3 BILLION a year on these cars? Sheesh! Skinflints.

Anywho – let’s just see if this photo has the shelf life of the Bush photo. I, for one, am not holding my breath.

Oh, but WAIT, there’s more that just came out!!! (Major H/T to Andy for this story.) It seems that before Obama tried to enter through the window at the Oval Office, he tried to take the wrong elevator after meeting with Republican Senators. He was a bit “disoriented,” it seems. Wow. This stuff practically writes itself. Though that was not as much of a faux pas, since he was trying to use the Senators’ elevator. Come to think of it, consider how little he did while in the Senate, it’s kind of a surprise he even knew about that elevator! Ahem.

Yep – I’m thinking there are going to be a whole lot more of these kind of episodes. As my buddy, Divine Democrat reminded me, we’ve already had his “57 states” thing, and I know he’s made a ton of gaffes while on the campaign trail. At least that’s something toward which we can look forward, right? Ahem.

What are some of the ones Obama made that stand out to you?

  • TheBigB

Rev Amy – you are the best!

  • snosandy

Maybe Obama thought that whatever he touched would magically open for “the one.”

  • georgiapeach

He’s making one right now. He’s all over the teevee this morning complaining about the excesses of the Wall Street executives. Really? Didn’t he vote to give them all that money with no restrictions and no accountability. Next thing you know, they’ll be testifying before some committee on how much of it they blew on gold bathroom fixtures in their remodeled offices and private planes.

  • Arabella Trefoil

Are you surprised? Remember how he kept pushing the wrong button when he voted in the Seante?

It’s amazing he has managed to have two daughters.

“No, Stinky – here! Put it here!”

  • Johnny Smithfield

Didn’t he vote to give them all that money with no restrictions and no accountability?

Nope. He had already resigned the Senate and did not vote. He pushed for passage of the bill w/restrictions on how the money was spent. Unfortunately the Bush Administration and Paulson had different ideas.

  • Sassy

    Hey Amy,
I still get a laugh out of his intro of his V.P.
You know, toward the end, Bush laughed it up, and did a little soft-shoe.
I don’t expect BO to get that loose, and I won’t even mention those vaudeville acts from the past…no siree!

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

That comment almost made me spew my cereal all over my laptop! :-)

    And thanks, BigB!

Remember how automated he was with the Biden thing? And when George had to correct him on not being a Muslim? I swear, he’s a robot – someone just put int he wrong coordinates for that door. I’m sure they’ve been assimilated now, though…

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

    Oh, Johnny – sigh.

It was the OVAL Office – he WORKS in there. And it has been over a week. Given how much he must have to step outside for a smoke, you’d think he would know.

At the very least, yes, he should be able to tell the difference between a WINDOW and a DOOR. As I said, there are just a few differences.

    Does that answer your question?

  • (trying to get over it)

ha – geithner – who was sitting silently next to obama during much of the ranting — just accepted his 400k+ bonus!

    oh, never you mind…

  • Arabella Trefoil

He will turn this thing around, Rev Amy.

“I will turn every window into a door in the Oval Office.”

    Profound, man.

  • (trying to get over it)

maybe the Head Hypocrite should turn down his thermostat – heat does lead to fuzzy thinking!

  • Arabella Trefoil

PeeWee Herman defense : I meant to do that!

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

I saw that David Axelrod claimed Obama had to have it hot enough to grow orchids because he’s from Hawaii. What a bunch of HOOEY.

Math does not seem to be these people’s strong suit.

Obama has lived far MORE of his life on the East Coast, and in the Mid-West. I actually lived in Chicago, and I can tell you – it can be freakin’ COLD there.

Meanwhile, everyone else is having to turn down their thermostats to save money and energy, but not The One. Yet, his minions will find a way to justify his wastefulness (can you imagine if this was BUSH doing this?? Everyone would be going nuts abt it, guaranteed. But His Holiness can throw a few crumbs to the masses, and they’ll lap it up…)

Love the one abt turning all windows into doors!

These polls can seem silly, but the NYC/media powerbrokers are using their famous character assassination tactics on Kirsten Gillibrand–trying to smear her with mischaracterizations, and lies about her record in order to defeat her before she’s had a chance to prove herself. Please take a second when you can and vote for her!

VOTE IN THE POLL “Do you approve of Governor Paterson’s pick of Kirsten Gillibrand to the US Senate?”

No Doubt About It. Never had one, never will. The difference between Bush and BO is that we were lucky Laura dedicated the last 8 years to watch him around, read him bed time stories, make sure he took his pills and hooked the ear transmitter to prompt to him his lines. With Obama it will be different. Michelle will do none of those things. She’ll be in her room laughing and watching CIA secret cams bloopers.

  • Arabella Trefoil

Nicotine causes circulation problems. Poor circulation makes you feel cold. When I was in the hospital once, my room mate had just had both her legs amputated because she had circulatory problems caused by smoking. (And she was trying to sneak ciggies in the hospital!)

My beloved sister died at age 51 because of blood clots caused by smoking.

    Smoking kills.

  • knotfourhymn

In response to Rev. Amy’s question, the gesture that sealed the deal for me was giving Senator Clinton the finger in TWO different speeches the day after the Philadelphia debate in April 2008. From then on I knew I could never vote for this man if he were to win the nomination.

  • lark

Blago must be breaking out in tears at this very moment.

  • beebop

Oh Johnny … we know what he supported and what he didn’t … is this like when he voted against the Iraq war? hahahahahahahahahaha

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Hey, that link didn’t work. Can you try again, please?

    Knotfourhymn, right there with ya.

  • oowawa

It’s obviously time to start clearly marking doors for our presidents or start putting up rope fences to guide them along. What’s next? Accidentally walking into the girls’ bathroom no doubt.

  • beebop

Don’t you think Jimmeh Cartah would send him a sweatah? Or two?

  • oowawa

Arabella, I’m shocked! LMAO, but shocked.

  • Cindy

Thanks for the laughs, Rev. Amy.
    We just love you!

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Ah, thanks, Cindy! I love y’all, too! Such funny, smart people! Helps to get through all of this craziness.

    :-)

  • barry bums a ciggie

LOL, that’s how I would like to start my morning…a cup of coffee and a joke.

My all time favorite is still BO’s 57 states. Even my 6 year old son went “HUH”?

  • http://Godhelpusall lee M

You’re right, Rev. Amy. This humor does help to get through these turbulent times. The problem is, I wonder if there is enough humor in the world to carry us through what is apparently before us in the coming weeks and months.

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com/ obamastolemyboyfriend

    He does have blue lips!

  • oowawa

Yes. “I will turn every window into a door in the Oval Office” sounds like Favreau’s trite schoolboy mind.

He missed an opportunity. When the window didn’t open, he could have turned, slowly and majestically, switched on his overhead halo, raised his right index finger to the sky, and proclaimed in his rich baritone:

So I say unto you: Keep asking, and it will be given. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened unto you. (Luke, 11:9)

  • barry bums a ciggie

try years…the collapse of the Japanese bad loans and nationalization of their banks in the 90s took over a decade to get their economy back on track.

  • Kathleen Wynne

This is off-topic, but Rev. Amy, did you or anyone notice that during Obama’s meeting with the CEO’s, sitting at the table was Mayor Richard Daley?

What is he doing sitting in on these meetings? Talk about “the Chicago Way” having control over the Obama administration!

  • oowawa

Looks like “that toddling town” toddled all the way to DC and into the White House.

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Oh, wow – no, I didn’t, Kathleen, but that’s sure a good point. I just do not know why ANYONE would think Obama is at all removed from Chicago-style politics. Every thing he has done, even the way he first got “elected” (getting everyone else thrown off the ballot), is indicative of his enmeshment with it!

And Barry Bums, I hate to quibble, but Obama thinks there are 60 states. He said he had been to 57, he was not going to Hawaii or Alaska, and he had one more to go. :-)

  • I’m a Linda too

Indeed. A thought that ran though mine and hubby’s mind-straight out through our mouths yet again this morning as we watched yet ANOTHER similarity. How I used to wince at the vularity and cockiness displayed by Bush when he used to always sit spread eagle in a chair facing us/cameras and reporters that he was talking to. A sort of subconscience “marking his turf” gesture. And what did I see this morning covering Obama with his “empty words” of disapproval of extravagant spending or pay and bonus’ by the banks. As he utters the words, if they don’t stop it, he will (yeah he sure was there when he was making those “phone calls” instead of being involved when John McCain was trying to add those type of restrictions when the Democrats were pushing the bailout) I’m dizzy with his [LACK]of action.

subliminal message that he’s the big cock in the house? GROSS! SHOW SOME CLASS OBAMA! You don’t have to copy EVERYTHING BUSH DID.

  • Sassy

That wasn’t a mistake by BO.
After all, he’s a married man, so he’s used to sneaking in a window.
Another habit, probably from being dominated by his missus!

  • oowawa

A sort of subconscience “marking his turf” gesture

I hope he doesn’t wander around the White House at night, marking his turf like the wolves do . . .

  • benny

    rev, spot on.

But you’re being too hard on GWB. atleast hes a patriotic american. with BHO, I doubt that hes american and if he is, he definitely ain’t patriotic.

  • I’m a Linda too

Didn’t the media mention his propensity for staying up late? What do YOU think he’s doing all alone at that hour? :D

  • andrew191

Obama will now be compelled to name an “Architecture Tsar” to help him avoid future gaffs. It’s a shame Albert Speer isn’t available. He’ld fit right in with the spirit of the new administration.

  • I’m a Linda too

    lmao

I can see straight through you! :)

  • wodiej

the only thing funnier would have been for BO to walk into the window from being distracted admiring his image.

  • cynic

Supposedly what Geithner received was severance pay and a cash-out payment from his retirement plan when he left his former job.

That’s not quite the same thing as pocketing a bonus after you’ve run a company into the ground and lost your shareholders a bundle.

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

LOL – that would have been hilarious!

Love the Architecture Tsar – except it seems WAY too plausible…

Oh, yes – Bush’s being Spread Eagle – now Obama is copying that, too? Disgusting – but not surprising…

And oowawa, good one abt Obama’s halo!

“Not the door I knew” – LOL! Y’all are so funny!!

  • andrew191

Who says he’s all alone? There are plenty of mirrors in the Whitehouse to keep him company.

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

That is ABSOLUTELY incorrect. Obama certainly DID vote for the $700 billion bailout. And he was definitely still a Senator. But Johnny, I know facts don’t really matter. Obama and Dodd tried to give billions of dollars to ACORN, La Raza and The National Urban League in that bailout, which the Republicans tossed out. It was passed overwhelmingly – and Obama voted YES.

OH – and how many know that Obama is trying AGAIN to give BILLIONS – yes – BILLIONS of your tax dollars to ACORN????? Yep, he is – it’s back in the current bill! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2173300/posts

  • wodiej

    LMAO…..

So much for Obama Transparency. Hope, Change …

    Bush’s Third Term.

  • andrew191

Obama has made a big issue of providing all the details of his economic “Swindle-us” bill on the internet. That way he will let all of his supporters (Acorn, unions, etc.) know exactly how he is paying them back with taxpayers dollars. The bill is nothing but pork and payoff with an Orwellian moniker.

  • Watch This Space

They’re striving for transparency and trying to create more open, two-way lines of communication between government and the public.

Once the stimulus package is in place, an ungoing report of where the money is going will be available here: http://www.recovery.gov/

The administration’s agenda with regard to a variety of important issues is clearly spelled here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/

Love it or hate it, this really isn’t looking like the beginnings of a repeat of Bush/Cheney.

  • V

What are some of the ones Obama made that stand out to you?

To coin a term, this is wambulance chasing: the furious parsing of the day-to-day movements of Obama in order to find something to cry about.

Take a good long look at yourself in the mirror, and ask yourself if this is really what you are here for, or whether you should, you know, get a life.

  • Kathleen Wynne

    Rev. Amy,

Not to be redundant, but I think Mayor Daley’s involvement at all in such meetings of this importance is worth following up on. I will certainly keep an eye out and I hope you will too, because I think it’s key to what we can come to expect in the coming months from obama.

It also shouldn’t be overlooked that Daley hasn’t been appointed to any official position, which, in and of itself, makes his being involved very suspect. Why the secrecy? Is he there to oversee and protect the ongoing corruption his “machine” has perpetrated upon the citizens of Chicago for decades from being exposed?

It not only doesn’t make sense, but his direct involvement makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, because it brings the Daley machine smack dab in the middle of Obama administration and that can’t be a good thing!

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

And I bet you could toss out a number of Bushisms. But that’s different, right?

And Watch This Space? You are kidding abt the transparency thing, right? There aren’t even transcripts of Press briefings under Obama. Heck, even Bush had those. Not exactly an auspicious beginning…

Considering Obama refused to provide ANY of his paperwork from college on, to even begin to claim this man is transparent is laughable. He didn’t have to provide ONE transcript or one piece of paperwork from when he was in the IL Senate or even his medical records. So, yeah – I’m not thinking he’s going to be any more transparent now.

  • tango

new President was personally inspecting the weatherproofing of all doors and windows as part of a program to optimise White House energy efficiency…

Exactly, he wanted to make sure no heat would escape as he turned the thermostat up a few degrees….

  • cathnealon

His latest sparring with radio talk show Limbaugh comes to mind as an example of his acting like a two year old as he did with going after Clinton and anyone who opposed him. The whole world could be kissing his feet and he would still find the one person on the globe that criticizes him and cry like a baby.

  • Andy

    LOL Arabella !!

  • Doc99

Oh … one more thing … Sheeeee’s baaaack. Remember the woman who called Sen. Clinton a “Monster?”

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

I believe we can find press briefing transcripts assembled chronologically here:

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

They just corrected that problem, but thanks for the link (seriously – not being snarky).

The other facts remain, though…He has been far less transparent than Bush – even Bush provided his transcripts and medical records. Obama, not so much. He even claimed there was NO paper trail from all 7 yrs in the IL Senate, and that he had NO datebooks from that time. Yeah, right.

  • V

And I bet you could toss out a number of Bushisms. But that’s different, right?

Yeah, I think so. Articulation is the primary tool of any statesman– a prerequsite, I’d say– so Bush’s apparently undiagnosed dyslexia was newsworthy, don’t you think?

Again, compare that to the minutiae you are fixated upon here.

  • Emjay

Mr President, keep this in the frontal cortex:

The window is ummm, 2 panes wide and the door, ummmm, let’s see. Oh yes the door is three panes wide so Gibbs can get into the office.

  • Obama: Dubya II – Electric Boogaloo

Obamacus makes Dubya look openminded and reasonable.

The calling out on Hannity and Rush Limbaugh is just one of the most glaring example of Obama’s rookieness. Suddenly, Hannity and Limbaugh are now given the power they never had because now the leader of the free world has listed them as threats to his administration. AM radio hosts for Christsakes!

  • V

The other facts remain, though…He has been far less transparent than Bush – even Bush provided his transcripts and medical records.

Really? What are we talking about here, exactly? Do you have Bush’s medical records from the TANG years? What do you have?

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

    Hey, Doc -

I mention this in my other post up now, “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” Someone in the comments there doesn’t understand why this is a problem. Sigh.

  • V

    They just corrected that problem,…

Wow. In your view, it’s they, and their problem, not, as is obvious, you, and your problem.

[sigh] Stop writing for a bit. Take a few deep breaths. Get outside. When you get a chance, look up the word “perdition”.

  • WildChild

I thought it was great when BOBO stopped into the press room “just to say hi” and then when they started asking him questions he panicked and ran from the room with his heart all a pitter pattering

Boy could he have used your advise then LOL.

Uh, yeah. That would be a window, as evidenced by the fixed nature, lack of hinges, and a doorknob. Ahem.

Actually, it’s looking like the beginnings of the Fourth Reich. Nothing in the bill is going to help the current economic problems, in fact it will make things worse.

The situation is bad, but the new administration is hyping it way out of proportion so that they may use it as a smoke screen to cover up payoffs to Obama supporters. Taxpayers of the future (our children) will be on the hook for Obama’s present paybacks, even though he’ll be long gone when the bill arrives.

What you call transparency is a classic Goebbels like diversion. Hype up and advertise what you want the masses to see, while the true nature of the activity is desguised. Con artists always paint a pretty picture for you to look at, so you won’t notice them sneaking up behind you to shove the knife in your back.

  • andrew191

Do you think Obama might be a backdoor man?
