[Update] Whaaaaaaaaat?!?!! MSNBC’s David Shuster calls Obama “hypocritical”?

MSNBC went all out to get Obama elected, but now they’re tiptoeing into dangerous territory! Criticizing The One is verrrrrrry risky — as all of us at No Quarter know only too well after non-stop attacks for the past 15+ months!

UPDATE: Besides that one Politico report, there are two more revelations about Obama’s failures to live up to his promises:

(1) “Obama team’s finances hard to access

Even as President Barack Obama issued new rules to make government more open and transparent, his administration is relying on an antiquated and opaque disclosure system.

Anyone seeking copies of the financial disclosure reports recently filed by members of his Cabinet and his top aides has to navigate an arcane and intrusive bureaucracy reliant on faxes, dense government forms, snail mail, or proximity to Washington, plus an insider’s knowledge of an unpredictable schedule dictated by a host of government officials.

Simply put, it’s a system that seems to run counter to Obama’s talk and his new rules about using technology to open the halls of the federal government to the public.

To be sure, the process for filing and releasing disclosure reports is a legacy that Obama has inherited from previous administrations – and one not easily changed in the first days of the new administration.

But it’s one that he could bring into the 21st century on his own – without congressional action – by executive order, which he was urged to do in post-election meetings that his team arranged with advocates for heightened government disclosure.

It’s especially anachronistic for financial disclosure forms – which are intended to ensure government employees’ economic interests do not conflict with their officials duties – to be so difficult to get, said Massie Ritsch, spokesman for the Center for Responsive Politics.

The non-partisan government watchdog group recommended the new president tighten reporting requirements, make the disclosure forms electronic and searchable and put them online quickly. … Read all

(2) “An online promise unmet

Barack Obama’s campaign realized the potential of the Internet in politics, but his new White House website is still scrambling to approach his campaign promises of a more interactive government.

The Transition apparently didn’t arrive with a readymade template for the site, which has been developing in fits and starts since Obama’s Inauguration. Today, the Sunlight Foundation’s Paul Blumenthal pointed out a broken promise: Today’s Liily Ledbetter Act was not posted online for five days in advance of signing, as Obama had pledged.

Another flaw: WhiteHouse.gov, which is the official website of the American presidency, hasn’t been updated to show that Hillary Clinton and other Cabinet officials have been confirmed in their posiitons.

What??? The White House Web site isn’t updated to show the cabinet officials who’ve been confirmed?

Just who is in charge of this government anyway?

Oh wait … right ….

Well, he’ll come back to life when the next campaign begins.

Maybe that honeymoon really IS over!

Toooooooooo late for the shitster um Shoooster

He nailed his own foot to the floor dissing Chelsea, Hillary, Bill and by continuing to be a brown noser for Bambi has been running in circles ever since and I’ll not soon forget or start watching MSNBO again

He’ll have to APOLOGIZE AND WALK The walk BEFORE I’ll NOT call him a HACK4SALE! He’ll have to quit that nasty phony news channel first.

lmao what a difference a year makes

those were sorta my feelings about FOX a few yrs ago

    this is Obama’s CHANGE
    lol

    • LindaA1

Actually, Shuster is just still covering Obama’s a**. He says quite clearly that it’s okay to hire the lobbyists since everybody knows candidates on the trail make statements “too broad and all-encompassing” to keep when it comes to actual governing.

After all, says Shuster, the appointees are all very qualified and they should be hired.

Says Shuster, all the White House team has to do (not Obama, mind you – just the “team”) is admit they made too broad a pledge during the campaign – and all will be well with the electorate and Shuster.

      Yeah. Right.

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Wow – that’s quite a step for Shuster, who has been in Obama’s pocket for MONTHS now.

But, Obama also lied abt not getting any funding from lobbyists for his campaign, too. I noticed Shuster just glossed right on over that little tidbit of hypocrisy…

    Thanks for this, Susan!

    • Winston

      Pocket?

Shuster is so far up there that he would have to go backwards to visit the lower GI tract.

      • Ani

        LMAO, Winston.

The “lower GI tract” is a very elegant way of saying it. Kudos. :)

Shuster is truly a disgrace to journalism and has been for a long time.

I would like to remind anyone who did not see this first hand that he was the one who reported to “Morning Joe” Scarborough about Pres. Obama’s 130 ‘present’ votes and 6 ‘wrong’ votes in the State Senate — this came out at the end of 2007 — and the two of them were LAUGHING at him and his disingenuous, indecisive actions.

Wow. What happened to Mr. Shuster that he started drinking so much koolaid — and what has now made him stop — trendiness?

        • NoBamaNoWay

what happened is that his bosses told him who he should support, and he is a whore with no integrity, so he obeyed.

  • trist

And I say the hiring of any asshole to work for MSNBO is business as usual!

    • rw

      hear, hear

  • catherine

Hmm ….I hear CNN Campbell Brown has been going after Prez-select Opampers as well. Too little too late.

Personally, I think it’s because their ratings have taken a serious beating as well as any credibility they may have once had.

MSNBO is dead to me. They’d first have to replace ALL the little Goebbels on that network with REAL journalists before I would ever watch them again.

Same thing for CB and some of the other propagandists over at CNN.

    • Ferd Berfle

Same thing for CB and some of the other propagandists over at CNN.

Especially that Blitz Wolfer and Jackass Cafferty.

      • Cubs in 09

        I love Lou Dobbs!

      • Ani

Yes, Dobbs is great — but Blitzer and particularly Cafferty are and were a disgrace this entire election season.

        • NW Country

And Cafferty called Sarah Palin an empty skirt this week. The man is rude.

    • jbjd

      I agree.

    • jwrjr

Start off by firing Keith Oberloud.

  • Tricia Spiegel

    Amazing…Just amazing.

    • Clara Barton

It’s amazing that anyone could be that rude, but not really amazing that it’s Cafferty. He was ruthless during the primary and possibly more blatant that Olbermann. I came to strongly, strongly dislike that man and still won’t watch him.

  • Katmoon

    MSNBO is dead to me.

Perfect. I share your sentiments, having banned all news drool from two specific cable networks, only watching local news, and combing the web for whatever else I need. I hope they tank, I hope they get to feel what it is like, that sting of loss, you know loss of income, loss of a job. As their resume would probably show most have the same talents as used car sales people. Cars don’t seem to be selling quite so well either. I don’t know what other profession would hire the talents of, hypocrisy, vilifying, and the verbal savaging of another person…no wait, they could all become politicians!

  • beebop

not even two weeks and the cheerleaders are tired of the pom poms? Gee … what a shame …….

    • Winston

The Great Disillusionment has begun. I predict an outbreak of cases of self-mutilation and chaffing among the media and Obot community. Already they are getting splotchy with rashes and nasty pustules over the guilt for telling so many lies.

      • Tess

Heavens: “self-mutilation”, “chafing” “splotchy” “rashes” “pustules”! Wow! I was waiting for hairy palms but will settle for these well-deserved entities.
It’s pretty cool – sounds a lot like all those (also well-deserved) plagues that came over Egypt.
It is for writing like this that I hang around NQ.

      lol… and so very true.

  • http://Godhelpusall lee M

Since I don’t watch MSNBC anymore and I couldn’t get the video above to work – my fault, not yours – I’ll just assume Schuster called Obama a hypocrite. Will wonders never cease? The kool-aid must be wearing off. Or it could be, as someone commented above, that the ratings have tanked and they realize that most of us can do without their nonsensical blatherings.

I agree the whole bunch at that station are nothing but loose tongued nincompoops. Especially Wolf Blitzer and Jack Cafferty. Do they really think that we will begin watching them again after their despicable behavior during the election? When their Messiah REALLY tanks they will be talking to dead air because nobody will be listening.

  • obamastolemyboyfriend

Shyster just looks so sleazy! I don’t know how they can live with themselves!

One good thing in all of this is that Odrama will end up being just the same old same old non leader as Bush. When all is said and done, no one is better or worse than anyone else because of their color and I hope all citizens in the US end with the same realization. That it is about the person, not the race, gender or political party that backs them. My hope is that for future elctions, voter get informed and Bill Clinton’s X Y comparison is how it goes.

As I have said all along, if Odrama really was an agent of change and wanted to help the world, he would have chosen to be a missionary, rather than a politician!

  • felizarte

Shuster just wants to be noticed by the Whitehouse probably and personal call from the O.

  • Strawberrybitch

Wow…an Obot free thread…bloody amazing. How much do you want to bet we’ll be seeing less and less of them, the more stories like this get airtime?

    • Ferd Berfle

      Wow…an Obot free thread…bloody amazing.

Well, we do get the sub-50 IQ trolls here. They’ve probably been laid off and are back to their street-corner preaching.

      • Strawberrybitch

Or back home with their parents hogging the remote, raiding the fridge and using up all the hot water.

        • Ferd Berfle

And stinking up the basement, rarely bathing and leaving cheeto bags everywhere.

          • Tess

            Really funny you guys.

      • Baba Rum Raisin

Or their gigs at the Taco Bell drive-up window.

  • I’m a Linda too

Why do all these networks forget the most recent, Tom Daschle. As a matter of fact, the only connection for the position Obama has selected him to run, is by lobbying the Health Industry as recent months ago. His lobbying is what’s getting him that job.

And I find that one really a bad and wrong choice.

We’re at at least a Bakers Dozen of Lobbyists.

    • elise

Daschel also has tax problems. Where are O’s tax returns from his time in Chicago?

    • Judy L. NC

I was also going to mention Daschle. Isn’t his wife the Queen of Lobbyists or something like that?

  • Fae

I quit watching CNN, MSNBC and the basic TV channels over a year ago. They all were brown nosing Obama and being horrible to Hillary. I will never watch any of them again. I also won’t go to a Hollywood movie at a theatre. I will so enjoy when Obama falls off his pedestal. Amazing he has spent $800,000.00 paid to lawyers to hide his life!!! I would love to see his birth certificate, college papers, etc! What is he hiding?

    • I’m a Linda too

I haven’t either. And rarely will I even click on an MSNBC video link. I did today, because Susan cleverly didn’t tell us what the Shyster said. :)

  • tango

Well he’s still a smarmy b*stard. He has no upper lip and therefore is not to be trusted.

Talk about hypocrits, did you all see the latest about Tom Daschle? It’s so good to see the Obama administration practicing what they preach in regards to personal responsibility, ethics and transparency.

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/01/bumps-in-the-ro.html

ABC News has learned that the nomination of former Senator Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., to be President Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services has hit a traffic snarl on its way through the Senate Finance Committee.

The controversy deals with a car and driver lent to Daschle by a wealthy Democratic friend, a chauffeur service the former senator used for years without declaring it on his taxes.

This is the kicker: he didn’t pay the back taxes UNTIL he began the vetting process. Hmm, sounds like he pulled a Geitner. And there are also tax questions concerning his wife.

During the vetting process to become HHS secretary, Daschle corrected the tax violation, voluntarily paying $101,943 in back taxes plus interest, working with his accountant to amend his tax returns for 2005 through 2007.

Gee, I wonder if he used TurboTax too.

    • Strawberrybitch

What the hell? Who was that mean old biddy who said taxes were only for the little guy? Looks like she was right. Hell, let’s all run for office so we don’t have to pay taxes.

      • Ferd Berfle

        Leona Helmsley.

        • Strawberrybitch

Thanks Ferd…there wasn’t enough Botox in the world for that woman.

          • Ferd Berfle

She was also as dumb as pounded feces. She made that statement just before sentencing and the judge threw the entire library at her.

            • Strawberrybitch

Wow, talk about cocky…who does she remind of…hmmmm…let me think.

            • Snickers

Before we go after Leona “the queen of mean” Helmsley too much, consider how many men have gotten away with this same behavior, while both Helmsley and Martha Stewart ended up with jail time.

              • Baba Rum Raisin

Isn’t Leona taking a dirt nap now?

I wonder if, with all that cosmetic surgery, she will bio-degrade.

          • Winston

I heard her fellow prisoner thought she was quite a catch.

            • Ferd Berfle

Yuck. I usually throw back the pike.

            • Strawberrybitch

        • rw

Leona redeemed herself in her will, she left her fortune to her pooch…good for you Leoona.

          • Ferd Berfle

Her pooch probably didn’t pay any taxes, either. Paying taxes is for little dogs, after all.

            • Winston

              Good one.

      • tango

No, you just have to be rich. You only HAVE to pay the taxes if you’re audited (and then only those years that are within the statue of limitations) or are chosen for a cabinet post.

So if you are not audited nor chosen for a cabinet post, you don’t have to pay all your taxes at all.

Gee, I need to get rich ASAP and do my patriotic duty as Joe Biden says and pay my (partial) taxes!

Just look at Your self, dont You just umnderstand that we all sometime i our are lobbying . If is not for best Friend then is for Famili, to help someone get job, or else. All is lobbying. Organising blind dates is lybbying, just think about. Telling someone, that this restaurant or that bussiness is better it is all the same. The different is ,that we are not politicians. Telling people to vote for Obama or Hillary is lobbying… Problem is there, that we are doing this for free, and politicians doing for a monsterous money, and this must stop, not lobbying!!! It is part of OUR lifes, and we call differennt names, but it is just the same!!!

  • wodiej

the media is nothing but trashy whores. all that adoration for BO was just for ratings, money…greed. If there is news to be made and it is negative, they could care less, ratings, money, greed.

As far as Shuster’s concerned, I guess it takes one to know one. People like him rely on short attention spans and/or ignorance: Obama may have obfuscated the benefit he received from lobbyists during his campaign, but it didn’t take a genius to discern his mendacity.

And now we have lobbyists/shakedown artists in his administration — again, no surprise to most of us here. The Daschle appointment is just downright cheeky. He’ll probably raise a fortune in campaign contributions from the healthcare industry in exchange for what? Vastly lowered expectations? The status quo perhaps? Will healthcare reform become one of those issues Obama sacrifices, as he’s warned?

    Same old, same old.

    • ritamary

Well didn’t Obama mentor and sycophant John Kerry say health care reform is doa?

  • waterstradt

Didn’t some one tell us it was “Patriotic” to pay taxes? So I guess Obama has two unpatriotic cabinet officers?

  • CG

Here’s one for you… Organizing for America and a Perpetual Campaign

Despite his past denunciations of the “perpetual campaign” — and “political hacks like Karl Rove” — President Barack Obama’s version of change doesn’t include banishing hardball politics from the environs of the Oval Office.

Like presidents before him, Obama has imported pieces of his campaign into the White House, ranging from his own Rove, David Axelrod, to two dozen campaign staffers who will serve as liaisons with agencies. A top Iowa aide, for instance, is moving to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Obama resisted calls to abolish the White House Office of Political Affairs from everyone from his rival, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), to Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), installing a well-regarded but low-profile labor operative, Patrick Gaspard, as his political director.

He’s maintaining a giant, novel permanent campaign, Organizing for America, at the Democratic National Committee. And Obama aides Wednesday hinted that they would exact a cost from Republicans who opposed the stimulus, promising to release local jobs numbers in the districts of GOP members of Congress who voted against the plan.

that tidbit from http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0109/18202.html from the article Hardball politics stay in the Oval

So the Republicans & Dems who voted against the ONE’s idiot plan — and with the WISHES of the voters in their districts are going to be punished?

Typical passive aggressive behavior — I wonder what the pissy br@t says in private — my guess he has words for the clingy bible — gun hugging types who don’t trust him and know a scam when they see one.

Remember Obama traveled to Kenya and ignored State Department rules and campaigned for his cousin Ralia Odinga? Odinga, who wanted to install sharia law in Kenya? And remember how Joseph Wilson penned the OpEd saying Obama messed up, got used as Odinga’s stooge, because Kenya’s incumbent was a U.S. ally? But we breathed a sigh of relief?

Well it turns out Odinga won that election according to U.S. exit pills. The NYT reports a U.S. exit poll showed Odinga as the winner, even though the incumbent was announced as the winner and has ruled ever since.

Obama needs to throw cousin Odinga under the truck ASAP. Expedite this mofo.

  • fif

What a bunch of hacks. This is suddenly a news flash? I still remember the New Hampshire debate when Hillary (or was it Edwards?) called Obama out for having a Pharma lobbyist as his campaign manager. He blatantly lied on national TV: “That’s not true, that’s not true,” he said, shaking his head. I was shocked by his “audacity”–that he would lie so boldly (or stupidly) in front of millions of people–including journalists who could easily expose it as a lie. And when I waited, for days, for the fall out–NADA! NO consequence. So…he realized he could say and do anything and there would no accountability. That led to endless lies about himself, his opponents, policy, whatever. Why were many of us aware of the husbands, wives, business partners, and lawyers of lobbyists who funded his campaign so Obama could claim that “he accepted no funds from lobbyists,” but no journalists exposed the “hypocrisy” of that sham? They’re pathetic.

  • OxyCon

Daschle just got served his heaping helping of fresh Karma.
I’m betting on Claire “Bride of Chucky” McCaskill being next.

  • Cathy in Ks.

Karma seems to be moving very quickly against all those who supported Obama for the wrong reasons. I’m really glad to see CNN and MSNBC ratings tanking.

I noticed while riding the exercise bike at the local gym, two televisions had on Fox cable news. One had on CNN but none had MSNBC. Good for them!

  • DaddysDarlin

When the MSM starts reporting the real news about Obama, then maybe I’ll listen. This is just too little too late for me.
What this man did to the Clinton’s is unforgivable.
What Obama did to the office of our presidency is unforgivable.
When we get some real investigative reporting about Obama and his never-ending quest to keep his birth certificate hush hush, his quest to keep any college records, medical records, anything that will show how he really feels about this country or his ineligibility to run for the office of the presidency, then perhaps we will listen.
You are trying to throw us a bone so we’ll once again tune into your piss-poor program, not me, never again, unless and until you are ready to start helping our country get the answers about Obama that we deserve to know, you can keep your little hypocrisy list and stick it where the sun don’t shine!!!

  • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

I had a theory months ago, and I know I mentioned it somewhere on NQ, that the media was favoring Obama because they knew, once in office, they would have lots of *material* to work with. And I think I am right. haah

I had a suspicion that they knew if Obama won, they could go after him for a zillion things, thus keeping their ratings high. People wouldn’t turn in as much if it were politics as usual, blah blah coverage. But, with *sexy* stories about hypocrisy, corruption, rookie mistakes, verbal wars with Rush, all kinds of controversy, people tune in.

That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it. hahah

    • oowawa

Okay Sara, good theory. I personally don’t think they’re that organized or plan that far ahead. I think they fell in love with O, and then fell in love with their collective love for O, and suddenly it was political springtime! The political landscape was suddenly sweet like summer in Italy! (I guess)–sigh . . .

And, of course, they had that horrible Hill Monster to slay in order to protect their beloved . . .

      • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

i don’t know if people like Shuster are smart/forward thinking enough to *plan* this, but the network heads?

I think he was a better story for them leading up to the election, and he will be a better story after the election…

That seems like something the heads of networks would be smart enough to pull off, thus send the memo down the line to anchors?

        • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

although, cathy in KS above makes a good point too. Their ratings are tanking and they received so much crap for being in the tank, they perhaps now are trying to act like *real journalists* and say negative things about O….

Another attempt to drive ratings back up.

Ok, my theory might not be solid, but I know it has to be about ratings.

Yep, the honeymoon is over. Romance withers in the harsh reality of bad ratings. Now how do we get out of this starry-eyed infatuation without looking really dumb? Well, you drop the word “hypocrisy,” but take the bite out of it with all these qualifiers–well there are only 6 lobbyists and thousands of people have been hired . . . . The transition to actual nasty divorce talk is going to be as gradual and inconspicuous as they can manage it . . . Breaking up is hard to do.

Guess they just got tired of being a huge joke, even to an Obama supporter like John Stewart who regularly skewers them.

They’ll never revive their franchise though — too late — and all too tedious.

The truth is, the media doesn’t love Obama; they loved the “myth” of Obama because it sold advertising. The media loves their own power to bring in viewers, readers, and money. Whoever they annoint, whatever storyline gets viewers, is crammed down our throats, but when the media decides to take the annointed down, they’re all for that as well. Obama, too, shall pass, because the media is all about pushing whatever meme they desire to gin up a story, bring in viewers, and hits on their blogs, iReports, whatever. It’s the revenues that count.

Very sad when myths trump reality in the MSM.

    Obama’s Oval Office Hypocrisy
    By Steven Milloy

    FOXNews.com Contributor/JunkScience.com Publisher

As reported on JunkScience.com on Thursday…

The New York Times reported on Thursday, January 29 that:

“…the capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

Could this be the same Barack Obama who said last May that:

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that other countries are going to say ‘OK.’ … That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

And could this be the same Barack Obama who is looking to sign a stimulus bill that would spend billions of dollars installing millions of “smart meters” that would enable your power company to prevent you from being as comfortable as he is on hot and cold days?

While our new president is warm-and-toasty in the Oval Office, is he considering the plight of Michigan’s Marvin Schur, a 93-year World War II veteran, who was recently found frozen to death courtesy of a malfunctioning electricity “limiter” device installed by his power company?

Change has come to Washington. Elitism is dead. Long live elitism.

I’m truly shocked that someone from the Obama Network (MSNBC) is criticizing him.

    wow.

Still won’t watch MSM news anymore, except for Fox every once in a while.

While I’m surprised by Shuster’s comments, it’s too late now. I lost respect for all of these news talking heads a loooong time ago.
