Octomom redux

Grandma is just a font of disturbing information about her daughter Nadya and her obsession to breed.

It gets better:

Miss Suleman turned down a marriage proposal and refused the offer of commitment from the father of her first six children, Angela Suleman said.

“She just wanted to do whatever she is doing by herself,” Mrs Suleman told Us Weekly magazine.

“She did have boyfriends. She did have someone who really wanted to get married. She was married for a while but it didn’t work out. I don’t know why it didn’t work out – maybe she knew it wouldn’t last.”

Her ill-fated marriage was to someone other than David Soloman, who fathered six of Miss Suleman’s 14 children.

“She was not married to David,” Mrs Suleman said. “That was her problem. He would have wanted to marry her. She is actually a beautiful woman. I don’t know what went wrong.”

Her father, Edward, had worked as a linguist in Iraq “so he could help her out [financially] because she refused to get married”, the retired teacher added.

Fair enough. Want to be a single mom? Then move your brood out of grandma and grandpa’s house and provide for them. Enjoy the wonders and joys of single motherhood with your 14 kids, not the ersatz variety where grandpa has to schlep to Iraq to earn money to pay for your kids and grandma babysits your 6 while you deliver the remaining 8.

But there’s clearly something wrong with these parents. There comes a point where love ends and enabling begins. Clearly their daughter is not playing with a full deck. It sounds as if she desperately needed psychicatric treatment, not a mother making the excuse that her daughter “only wanted one more” and not eight. One more in addition to the six already at home? And now Nadya wants to get a Master’s? Not to be rude, but who will take care of the kids while Mom is in school?

Time for one big, fat intervention.

    Oy.

  • NCgirl

This woman is a mental case. She shouldn’t be allowed to make a dime off of this, i.e. interviews, book deals, etc. I also think CPS should take the babies away from her, if not all the children.

  • mimi

This woman is a nutjob that has been enabled by her parents, the fertility doctors and the sperm donor.

Why haven’t the fertility doctors been identified? They need to be brought up on charges.

Last I heard, she claims that the embryos split, that 8 embroyos were not implanted at once.

    Yeah. Right!

Figure it out… when these last embroyos were implanted, her youngest set of twins, mind you, were 15 months.

Having cared for twins, no one in their right mind wants another baby at that point in the development process, least of all someone with 4 other children, the oldest of which is 7.

As much as I hate the idea of yet another slew of laws, it appears that people in this country can no longer govern themselves. Everything has to be IMPOSED, it appears. The days of ‘common sense’ and the ability to temper one’s behavior are as much relics as is our ‘prosperous past.’

Women who behave like this, give credence to all of the misogynistic arguments floating out there in society. After the brutal experience of the election season, which has left me bitterly disappointed and angry, I have to condemn this woman’s irresponsibility and for putting her children at risk.

No job… no husband… aging parents…. and 14 children, 8 of whom are the same age, makes no sense in this day and time. And no rational human being would impose this scenario on themselves and innocent children.

She can hire all of the publicists she wants, ink book, tv and movie deals. I, for one, have no intention of enabling her any further. I will not buy a ticket to this circus and perhaps encourage some other mindless female to do the same.

The whole situation is just plain sad. And no amount of looking at this as if it were an episode on The Waltons is going to change that.

  • ipotter

    Think she voted for bo?

  • wodiej

    I agree.

  • wodiej

    LMAO..

  • Crystal

I don’t think this lady’s decision to have 14 children was the best of ideas in her situation, but that was her choice. I hope everything works out well for this lady. Her story is very strange, but one the thing that really bothers me is she’s not the one telling her story. Everything has come from her mother. Her mother seems to be the one babbling about the daughter. That doesn’t seem right to me. Ultimately, the children will be the biggest losers if things do not turn out well for this family. I don’t think it’s healthy for the children to have granny blasting their mother in the press. I think it would be best if granny respected the privacy of the children at this time. Who knows what may happen in the future in regards to this family and the media, but I think kids need granny be quiet now.

  • wodiej

Her parents need their heads examined also. Who in their RIGHT MIND would encourage and/or advocate such a thing??

I think they need to take at least the 8 from her at birth and let them be adopted by sane, sensible parents so they have a chance in life.

  • Arabella Trefoil

Maybe she thinks the Learning Channel would give her her own show. John and Kate Plus 8, and The Duggar Shows (17 Kids and Counting) make it seem that anyone can become famous by having a big family.

Plus it looks to me that the Duggars enjoy donations of clothing, computers, etc. from sponsors. It’s a sorry country where women feel the only thing they can get rewarded for is producing babies.

  • Diana L. C.

I’d agree, but if she makes a bunch of money, maybe the poor tax payors will not have to fut the entire bill.

  • The Real HC

This is why it does NOT take a village.

I dont want to be responsible for these people, they dont want to be responsible for me, and clearly we have nothing in common. Yet I will probabaly end up paying for part of this mess, and therefore against my will I am complicit. This makes me mad.

To me it is sad that kids are involved but short of spaying this woman against her will what can you do? Shes nuts and knows how to get pregnant, so she will, over and over. She might even make some money at it.

I say ignore her and her brood.

  • Crystal

Jon and Kate have received everything from diapers to cosmetic surgery for free. They just bought a new million home, but neither of them hold jobs outside of their television show.

  • bert

I don’t think anyone, least of all the state, can or should take these children from her mother. Unless, of course, we want to change our form of government, which I do not.

But this is sickening. And the parents are definitely enablers. But this is just an extreme variation of what plays out in millions of families across this once great country.

We have 30 year olds still living at home, or are put up in homes paid for by their parents and furnished with cars and the ‘adults’ see nothing wrong with this. This is called taking care of my family, or putting my family first. No wonder so many of these idiots voted for Obama. He wants to take care of them to; on my tax dollars. What ever happened to rugged individualism and taking care of ourselves?

I believe it is government’s duty to protect my rights, not give me a handout. But with parents like these, what else can we expect? They have been given everything they want and now they want more – from Obama.

    It is sick, sick, sick.

  • truthorconsequences

Maybe God should rescind that “Be Fruitful and Multiply” order or command or suggestion or thought or whatever. ;)

  • betty

Crystal thank you for your thoughtful comment. There is a mistaken idea that we are “flying with the angles” when we look down on other people and judge their choices. But truely, Crystal, it is you who flies with the angles.

  • Judy L. NC

Maybe she’s growing her own terrorist cell.

  • truthorconsequences

Well, from the looks of thing, maybe a village was involved.

  • Hadrianus

This woman should be spayed by court order. She is a disgusting baby-spewing rabbit, bent upon over-populating the planet all by her lonesome. China provides a fairly good model for over breeding. Either we practice a little animal husbandry upon ourselves, or nature will do it for us.

  • mimi

Thanks for bringing up that African proverb that liberal are famous for rubbing in our face.

Here’s another African proverb from the Ashanti:

“The ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people.”

Of course, this proverb won’t be as popular since it requires personal responsibility.

  • harper

I’m not going to be judging her, after all , isnt that what being pro-choice is? there is no reproductive police in this country, so if she wants to have more babies, there is nothing anyone can do. She’s rumored to receive 2 million for talking to oprah so, she;ll have money to care for the children and pay for the hospital bill.

  • mimi

When did Oprah start paying for interviews? I don’t believe that’s true.

  • Mountain girl

    ROFL…

  • Touchet

Take her off welfare and see how she likes “to do it by herself”.

She won’t get married cause the father would work and she would loose the child support and welfare.

  • beebop

Maybe she’d have to do what is right and let a real mother raise them in a home not run like a surreal episode of Leave It to Meat Cleaver.

  • samb

It is selfish not to think of your children first, how is she going to provide for these children, who will care for them when she is not able to, what about her children’s education and health care needs or food, rent or mortgage. I know single mother’s these women are my hero’s these are strong women, who put there children first and these same women would have never tried to profit off these children. This women seems to want a pat on the back and gift’s and money and wants be the media’s new darling. her selfishness doesn’t seem like it will be rewarded. GOOK LUCK WITH THAT. I wish these children well, children don’t pick there parents.

  • DinoSilver

The Duggars and John and Kate at least provide a stable home and seem to be of sound mind. Even though I think the Duggars are a bit over the top with their conservative lifestyle, they do spend most of the show time teaching the world how they are self reliant and responsible. I believe John and Kate are too, but their show does not focus on that. I think that this gal will end up with CPS at her door unless she can get show how she plans on taking care of her litter.

  • Solara 7

I agree with the earlier post–who in the hell gave her fertility drugs? Do they do any checking at all?

  • HARP

This woman should take an aspirin…….and hold it firmly between her knees.

  • Doc99

I’m sure Brangelina will take the kids.

  • jjsmoof

Dang it HARP, i was drinking a coke when I read that. Anyone have a roll of bounty. IT’s a 3 sheeter. lol

  • samb

Parent should put children’s needs first, who will care for them when she can’t who will provide for there health care needs, education and day to day expensive’s, I know single mothers these are strong women , women who put themselves last and there children first, This women wants gifts ,money a pat on the back, and to be talk show darling, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT, I do wish her children well, children don’t pick there parents.

  • bart

Well, regardless of all the other issues this story raises, I was wondering.

Why does a woman who already has 6 children use fertility drugs?

  • sandi78

I don’t believe she’s on welfare. Nutty perhaps, but not on welfare. I’ve read that she has a job in the lab of a fertility center. I would presume she gets paid for that.

  • beebop

According to her mother, her tubes are blocked so the only way she can get pregnant is invitro. I totally get it. But 14? Isn’t that a little over kill? Or is some lab just trying to boost their numbers?

  • bert

  • samb

Dose anyone know how she payed for her treatments?

  • msliberal

This blogs runs like a soap opera, or a gossip column. Just leave this lady alone, it is her business and not ours. I think that we have a MSM that has done more of a background check on this woman than on PBO.

  • Touchet

she filed for bankruptcy. Believe me, she is going on welfare with another 8 babies. She isn’t going to have the money or time to pay for those expenses even if she had a job as a nurse.

Most likely the state will take her kids from her. She alone can not take care of 14 children at once.

Think about it. Your talking about at least 20 dollars a day for the 7 non infants. thats being generous. She said she would breast feed them. Her glands can not support 8 babies at once. If she tries that, they will dry up within a week. So your talking about at least 40 dollars a day for formula and then eventually food. Times eight thats 280 dollars a day.

The grand total for food is going to be around 400 dollars a day minimum, 2800 dollars a week. That means on a normal 40 hour week she would have to make 70 dollars an hour just for FOOD!. That doesn’t include mortgage, gas, car, child care, health insurance, AND utilities. Housing is an altogether other issue. She will have to have at least a 5 to 6 bedroom house. Adding up all that your looking at another 5000 a month easy. Lets be generous and say she can feed everyone in the house for around 2000 a week. That around 11,000 grand a month.

Please, this woman is going on welfare

  • samb

other soap opera’s out there pick a different channel.

  • Touchet

    And MSM doesn’t? LOL

No i won’t leave her alone, She is going to have to use my tax money to support the life she chose to have. The woman should be committed to a mental hospital and her babies should be give over to the state.

Image 14 neglected kids being unleashed on the world.

  • samb

    well said.

  • KmX

It is possible that the doctor implanted 2 embyros. But a split must have oocured resulting in 8. Nadya knew she was carrying 7 embyros and was told she should consider aborting 5. She refused to abort her embryos. it wasn’t until the doctors at Kaiser Permanente delivered the babies that they realize she had 8.

All Nadya wanted was another girl. She was not expecting 8 more children. I think we should be very careful how quick we are to Judge her.

The doctor has no control over how many embyros wil split into 2. If he did indeed implanted only 2 embyros, Why should he need discipline?

  • mdmom

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) especially in vitro fertilization (IVF) costs in the multiple thousands and is rarely covered by health plans. This may add pressure to achieve pregnancy on the first attempt. Although as the number of embryos transferred increases, pregnancy success increases, but at the expense of the risks associated with multifetal pregnancy. In some countries, such as England, limitations are placed on the number of embryos that can be transferred. In the United States, however, the decision is left to individual physicians and programs.

  • msliberal

I would rather have my tax money going to pay for children, than most of the other waste that tax money is used on. Like our public education.

The babies are not even out of the hospital and you are saying they are neglected. Grow up!! You know what happens when people assume??

  • msliberal

Do you know the psychological aspects of why people gossip?

  • samb

Don’t care, but you are still read this soap opera, what dose that say?

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

She already owes $2million for the deliver, care and hospitalization of the new 8. Fox had a breakdown of the 1st year costs and it is astronomical. If she has had welfare help so far, then CA will have a lien on any funds forthcoming. The woman is sick and those who don’t want to “judge” are lacking in discernment. I’m more interested in their background and how they came to this point.

I don’t want to reward behavior and consequences that are clearly exploitations on the family and society. I feel very sorry for the children.

Grandma is probably ready to lose her mind…that’s why she’s spilling her guts.

call her up and write a check .

  • barry bums a ciggie

Yikes. One hopes that she is not overwhelmed by it all and start to hear “voices” to do something bad to those kids. That woman who drowned her kids awhile back was a sad sad case of a person who was mentally ill and shouldn’t have had those children. In the end, the children paid for it with their lives. This isn’t so much about her now, as it is about how she will take care of and provide for her children.

  • msliberal

Before we even address the issue as to why people gossip, lets discuss briefly what is “gossip” and that will lead us straight as to why people do it. Webster’s Dictionary defines gossip as “often malicious talk; a person who spreads sensational or intimate facts.”

Now, if gossip is sure to end up hurting someone or several individuals, then, what motivates people to gossip? There are many reasons why people feel compelled to gossip, therefore, humiliating and putting others down. Sometimes people do it out of spite, just because they can. Other times people gossip because they feel they will benefit from its end result, such as possibly looking better in front of the boss in a working situation. But the true, deep rooted reason, and psychological studies have proven it, is the feeling of superiority that results from such vicious spreading of information. The person feels superior not only because he/she feels that they have information to offer that the other person does not have, and we all know that knowledge is power, but also by gossiping about someone else, the gossiper feel as if he/she was a much better person than the subject of the gossip,

for someone who is throwing down condemnation for gossip, you are pretty quick to find fault with others.

if you feel sorry for her, you go ahead. I feel sorry for people who find themselves in situations, not people who put themselves in situations … but, admittedly, that is just one person’s opinion ….

  • beebop

Invitro fertilization is expensive. It is difficult and heartbreaking. I know from first hand experience. My ex husband and I tried it five times. It destroyed our relationship and we spent a ton of money and got nothing out of it. This woman is making a mockery of the process by producing a litter. She is a poster child for what not to be. I hope Oprah DOES put her on her show. That should nail the coffin shut but good.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

And the fact that you choose to chastise people shows your own bias.

If you don’t like the conversation, remove yourself.

By the way, this fiasco does involve you because at some level, you’re going to pay for this woman’s folly.

MsLiberal, do some good. Make sure Obutthead doesn’t devalue the dollar. Now, that’s one that’s gonna affect all of us and take more money to support Mama PopsAlotOut.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

  • samb

You are still discussing, the woman you don’t want other people to talk about? You need to read your important article on gossip that you put on your post. Gossip bad, very bad.

  • Touchet

I think its you who needs to grow up. I imagine you had parents that gave you a pass on every bad situation that occurred to you. This would explain the reason why you feel a need to excuse her behavior.

For instance, you sneak out one night, and while out, you break your leg. Your parents then say, oh you poor thing you broke your leg, tisk tisk for sneaking out, but we can’t control accidents, so lets leave it be.

The broken leg was the result of you doing something you shouldn’t have been doing in the first place. Had you not left the house in the middle of the night, you never would have broken your leg. A responsible parent would let you recover then make you pay for the hospital costs.

The same situation applies here. While unfortunate (and a known side effect of in vitro fertilization) that she had 8 babies, The situation would have NEVER occurred if she would have been responsible and realize she already had too many children.

I’ve grown up, and I don’t excuse selfishness. That is a childish behavior. And I don’t excuse irresponsibility in Adults either.

Had the woman been a millionaire, sure, I’d leave her alone because she can pay for her own mistakes. But thats not the situation. And you insulting me doesn’t change the facts of the matter.

  • Touchet

Yes! I am saying the babies will be neglected. Noticed the tense of the sentence. It is using future participle to convey events that will happen in the future. The fact that they are in the hospital now, being taken care of by the hospital staff, lends credit to my argument.

In addition, I am being quite “grown up” about the situation. The responsible “Adult” thing to do would be never to have anymore children.

In stead, she selfishly(a childish behavior) went out and purposely impregnated herself to have more children.

I would rather NOT have my tax money go to her. Since she chose to have the children, lets try to come to a compromise–YOU can use your check to support the children, and leave mine alone.

If at anytime it is deemed she can not take care of the children and they are given to the state to find a proper home, then you can start taking that tax back out of my paycheck.

    I think that sounds fair.

  • Touchet
  • alibe

Just how would the parents have prevented this deranged fool from having these babies? I am sure she didn’t ask her parents for their approval. Guess who is coming home for dinner, and breakfast and lunch?
It is a bizarre situation, but the parents seem to be between a rock and the really hard place.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

Are you speaking from experience, Msliberal?

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte LaRue

But it is not okay with you for others to speak out about not wanting to have their tax dollars go to “this woman.” Biased towards your own notions and not those of others, would fit here, MsLiberal.

As for Obama, I hold all liberals accountable and yes, responsible for devaluing the whole country. I will not argue the point of change. I will argue that liberal losers devalued the country by choosing the idol rather than the professional.

Don’t lecture. I used to be a liberal, until I found out liberals are just as short sighted and arrogant as their counterparts.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I don’t know where you are msliberal. I’m sure many public schools come up lacking. My daughter is a teaching assistant in one of the top rated public schools in CA. Our students get a first rate education so much so that many of our celebrity residents opt out of private schools in favor of our public elementary, middle and high school.

When I worked with the public, I often met young parents who were planning on moving to our community in order to partake of our public education. There are always exceptions to generalizations, aren’t there?

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Touchet, well said. I believe that is one of the biggest problems we face in our society. Our representatives all too often step up and proclaim: “I take full responsibility.” Problem is they never suffer consequences. If they did, maybe lessons would be learned and if severe enough, not repeated. One of the commonalities that addicts share is a lack of recognition and respect of boundaries…their own and others.

This woman has escaped consequences so far and has shown no respect for anyone…least of all her children. 14 babies are enough to drive anyone around the bend. Can you imagine a house of 14 teenagers with an addictive (according to Grandma) mother.

  • wodiej

But the true, deep rooted reason, and psychological studies have proven it, is the lack of consequence that results from such making the wrong decisions

    BINGO!!

  • The Real HC

I did mean to imply otherwise.

The children are the main victims of this horrible woman. The rest of us are the mother’s victims as well – we will be paying for her choices one way or the other.

  • wodiej

unfortunately when she gives birth it will no longer be her business, it will be the taxpayers. She is not married and undoubtedly she will be applying for all of the welfare she can get. Nice little income she’ll have there. Wouldn’t be suprised if her parents are in on the scam too.

People shouldn’t have kids they can’t be responsible for.

  • Crystal

I don’t know if I buy the story that the babies were a result of embryos that split. Identical sets of quads would be a bigger story than just octuplets. The story would be even more rare. If something like that had happened, I would imagine it would have been reported from the start. The splitting of the embryos would be a totally natural occurrence. I don’t think there would have been much of an emphasis on the fertility treatments, especially if there were only two embryos implanted. This story began as a nice one. I just don’t see them leaving out a detail like that in the beginning.

  • Idiocracy08

    who paid for it?

  • Idiocracy08

You say it’s nobody else’s business…no one except the taxpayers, huh? I mean CA is broke but she gets to do what she wants?

  • Idiocracy08

Yeah, shouldn’t she quit gossiping about public schools and not hurt the teacher’s feelings? Also, how does it make all the children who go to or have gone to public schools feel?

I mean I went to public schools. My grandfather was the county superintendent for 20 years and started all kinds of projects that helped the schools all over the country.

I work for a state college. I guess that’s a big problem too.

Man, I’m glad msliberal pointed out what a loser I am.

  • Idiocracy08

Well, now we also learned that this mom has been getting slightly over $200 000 in Workers Comp these past 10 years. Public records. Why? Bad back. Geeee, I thought being pregnant constantly isn’t very good for a bad back either.

  • Ashy1

If this mother is not financially capable of providing for her offspring and taxpayers will have to shoulder the costs, then I believe the fertility doctors who were instrumental in creating this situation should pick up at least part of the tab on these children for the next 20 years or so. It seems to me that they are just as responsible for these babies as the man who donated the sperm and the baby-collecter herself.

  • BARB

There are other reports saying she has not worked since 2002…and also that all of her 6 older children were the result of in-vitro fertilization. Some other reports say she was actually married for a short time…but never got pregnant by her husband. These stories also were originally reported as being told by her mother. Who knows? Sounds like the whole family is nuts. The hospital bill has been estimated as $3 million…so far. I read that Oprah doesn’t pay for interviews. Don’t know if this is true…but I certainly doubt that she would be would be stupid enough to pay $2 million to that pathetic person….and Oprah didn’t get to be where she is by being stupid!

  • Tamara Barringer

I think she wants to be Jon and Kate and make money. I love Jon and Kate and at least Jon works. She does’nt work and her mom says shes going home after this. Her kids should all be put up for adoption to people who have wanted children for a long time. Watching Dateline right now. Hospital cost 3 Million and I don’t want to pay it. Unemployeed she can’t pay it! I have already lost my job after 27 years and I don’t want to be responsiblty.

  • Very Concerned

This woman is either criminally insane or criminal. She has a manager AND a publicist. HELLO… I can barely afford my mortgage, let alone plastic surgery. And this welfare S..T gets herself saddled with 8 more tiny lives. Those children deserve better – and that means as far away from that wacko birth machine as they can be taken. Give the grandparents a break – it is not their responsibility at this time of their life to be changing diapers and worrying about how they can feed 14 kids and their increasingly selfish child.
