Hump Day Open Thread (WTG, Edwards!)

BLOG UPDATE: We’ve transferred the blog to a new server company and a dedicated server in the hopes that you’ll get faster loading and more reliable responses. Let us know over the next several days how the site is responding for you – e-mail Larry or me at susanunpc at gmail dot com. And, if you’ve been getting error messages, it may be short-term while your Internet provider picks up the new site service IDs.

MyDD diarists have the latest on Edwards:
- “Edwards Evening News Roundup: Still Standing Edition”
- “Hillary’s new web ad: A knockout punch to Obama?,” by an Edwards supporter
- “The moment that put John Edwards back in the game
- “Obama Better Grab Edwards or Do Something Big” (“Obama seems to have put himself in a box. …”)

Check out the official Edwards blog for more.

Barack? He’s getting nervous, and he’s so off his game:

From Mark Halperin’s blog, The Page, at Time magazine:

Obama Accuses New York Times Scribe of Cheap Stunt
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Veteran newsman Zeleny questions the candidate on the ropeline about the Clintons’ psycho-war.

WashPost David Broder’s suggests Obama doesn’t know what has hit him: “[The Clintons] have gotten inside Obama’s head and rattled his composure.”

Obama’s so off his game that he only mentioned the word “hope” twice in the South Carolina debate on Monday night.

I thought Edwards did a great job in the last debate, but not because of the little punches he jabbed at Hillary and Obama for their wrangling back and forth. To be honest, his little holier-than-thou attitude was a turn-off. It’s easy to stand back and play the “maturity card” when you don’t have a dog in the fight. He’s had little to defend since the press and both candidates have kept their hands off of him. Hmmm, and why would that be? Oh yeah, because he’s THIRD!! I’m sure if he was the front runner, his record would come under more scrutiny and he’d sound just as bitchy as both Obama and Hillary put together. And by the way, if I saw Hillary sit back and be all meek and polite during that debate, I wouldn’t want to vote for her. Sorry, but I don’t want a “mature” referee standing up against John McCain in the fall, I want a fighter who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty.

Well, I don’t want someone who is going to make it a personality contest. I want someone who isn’t afraid to address the issues head on.

These are the issues which are important and should be being discussed on the blog not obama bashing or with all due respect a cat fight between larissa and Sibel!!!

thanks for all these links, Bill. I don’t know if this thread is already dead, but these are all great articles. Our country is in deep trouble, no matter who gets elected next.

  • Sometime-CIA-Defender

    Bill,

It’s really incredible when you think about it, just how many bad decisions this administration has made that only made it worse. I mean, do you think tourism in New Orleans is up or down after their botching post-Katrina? That’s income. Relaxing environmental regulations leads to bad food (including the latest about sushi containing 3x the amount of Mercury it should to be considered edible). And, of course, the dumbest most illegal war in our history running up beyond the plastic’s limit.

    Hmmmmmm

I wonder when our DEMOCRATIC controlled Congress will be doing the same sort of investigation??

Yeh yeh I know a COLD DAY IN HELL!!! Right???

The government must open up to find out why it could not foresee – and barely considered – the outcomes of occupation (in Iraq)

People need to stop talking – and thinking – about how “they did it all wrong”. The wrong thing is that they did it. Period. THAT is the only lesson that needs to be learned, not how to do imperial aggression the “right” way.
