Pat Buchanan Shares Larry’s Common Sense

What say you?

Talk is cheap. Let’s see if Obama’s plan actually relieves the economy. I’m betting it doesn’t. Tonight was not a serious president’s talk with the people. It was a continuation of his campaign, with a lot of nice rhetoric while — at the same time allowing discredited lobbyists into his administration.

  • TexasMirth

Good for Pat. It’s so rare (and refreshing) to hear anyone on MSNBC using a little common sense.

  • barry bums a ciggie

If this plan doesn’t work, saying “I screwed up” is not going to cut it. I’m with you Susan, I think it will not work. It’s going to be ugly.

Pat Buchanan is like wine..Gets better with age
    Cheap money..Big deficits..

    Solution by the democrats

    Cheaper money….Bigger deficits.

  • Gary McGowan

There’s a lot of talk, “this is (basically) the only alternative to an emergency situation.” Pat Buchanan does not agree. But this clip doesn’t include his suggestions for constructive action. Can someone explain or point us to them with a link?

  • kgirl1028

the situation is bad but i’s not an emergency. But it will be if this doesn’t work which it won’t. Or did we learn nothing from iraq? Instead of learning that we need to ask our elected officials more question about their proposals, it seem the only thing my fellow idiot americans learned was Republicans: Bad Democrats: Good. Keep it up. You are not going to be happy until you have completely distroyed your own country.

  • kgirl1028

This is not an emergency situation. We need to do soemthing, but it’s not an emergency. Most ofthis panic is being purposely caused by the democrats to fighten the public into doing what they want. Or did we learn nothing from Iraq.

  • kgirl1028

Keep listening to chicken little. YOu are going to end up in the wolf’s pot.

  • AlexisM

They know it works, kgirl, they pulled it in the GE when McCain was ahead. Let’s manufacture a crisis so we can push our socialist agenda past the Sheeple. Straight out of the Alinsky playbook.

    Obama at today’s news conference

And that is why the single most important part of this economic recovery and reinvestment plan is the fact that it will save or create up to 4 million jobs

    The night before Obama said

I found this national debt doubled wrapped in a big bow waiting for me as I stepped into the Oval Office.

but he was a Senator during the Bush presidency and he did nothing to mitigate the situation with the economy, as the great all-knowing leader he has portended (pretended) to be and therefore should have done something meaningful then… Wonder why he didn’t suspend his campaign, hmm…

    In the past Obama said

    Words, just words

are they promises, just promises, I take no responsibility because I didn’t know we had a problem until I stepped into the Oval Office, and Senators are powerless and kept in the dark?

In the video above, Pat Buchanan said

… Big deficits and cheap money got us into it, bigger deficits and cheaper money are going to get us out of it? This is a gamble with the economy… with democratic capitalism.

So how is the economy going to be doing in 2010 and can we hold Obama to the promise of “the fact that it will save or create up to 4 million jobs?” What kind of vague promise is that — “save or create” and “up to 4 million jobs,” does that give Obama wiggle room to not keep the promise of “the single most important part of this economic recovery?”

I agree with Larry that government employees need to take a pay cut, and need to cut a percentage of their benefits, We should stop supporting lifelong benefits for government employees. Obama should stop traveling around the country making campaign stops when from D.C. he commands ALL the airwaves. In other words he can do a lot to stop wasting taxpayer monies. It costs the communities money in extra security and inconvenience when he shows up, and what a waste of fuel for his transportation to Andrews and then onto Airforce One or whatever the name of the jets to Williamsburg, Elkhart and Florida. Obama needs to show us he is serious by cutting back on the unnecessary… otherwise it just seems to be Obama is saying you should sacrifice so I won’t have to…

  • DinoSilver

The chicken little is scaring the sheep big time. I work in the financial services industry and I have to say everyone I talk to is scared, and also knows that this stimulus package will do nothing for them. Let’s watch and next year when nothing happens, the wolf crisis comes back, he scares everyone again right around election time. He will also remind everyone that he did not create this mess, so don’t blame him or the Dems.

  • kgirl1028

So the question really is why are people allowing him and the dems to get away with this. We run our government not them. What the hell is wrong with us?
I can’t believe we are doing this again!

  • AlexisM

We’re not going to let them get away with it. But the problem is that most Americans are too dumbed down and don’t educate themselves. They just listen to the lamestream media and go to bed.

  • no kidding

gary — Perhaps if they had taken the pork out of this bill — but the bill is a fraud complete with rationed care for Seniors on Medicare. They hoped nobody would notice because the Democrats are too cowardly to face the public.

  • no kidding

kgirl — what’s happened is that we no longer run our government. They have found a way to win elections without the votes of the people. Little by little they have stolen this country from its citizens. This time however, they are taking it all. 9.7 Trillion in Bail Outs all going to big companies while we get the crumbs. I never voted for Obama although I was always a Democrat because I felt something was wrong when the media promoted this one person 24/7. I knew they had an agenda. Now its becoming clear exactly what that agenda is. They are redistributing the wealth. It will be more difficult to go to college if your not rich and it will be more difficult to get healthcare if your old.

I thank the Republicans for standing against this bill however, the media will make it difficult for them to continue to stand against this onslaught as they will be ridiculed as the Party of No.

I’m afraid that in the future Congress will be just a rubber stamp for whatever the powers that be want. Although after they take our treasury what else could they want?

  • AlexisM

I hate to say it guys, but if we had McCain we wouldn’t be feeling this way. The one thing I know is that I would be sleeping peacefully at night with him around. He’s a million times more honest, and loves this country too much to trash it the way the Dimwits are now. It’s reprehensible that our votes mean nothing any longer. The DNC made sure of that. So did ACORN. They should all rot in hell.

Obama is not telling the American people the truth. He is lying.

Great article mountainaires. Thanks for sharing.

  • Andy

Ed Schultz is a big SCHMUCK; an Obama tool who has insulted Bill and Hillary Clinton all through the primary. Boy is he a dense and disgusting punk…

  • bert

no kidding – not just rationed care, but care that is monitored and tracked by Big Brother. And if your doctor does not use ‘accepted practice’ as defined by Big Brother you may not get care at all. This stuff is scary. I see lots of Supreme Court cases on this.

  • bert

Exactly right kgirl and AlexisM. Exactly right. This is a ploy to get as many far-left-wing social agenda items crammed through in one month without any debate. There may be some stimulous items in this bill, but most of it is Pelosi’s wet-dreams.

She and her merry band of boys could not get this stuff passed when Bush was President, and if they did not have a manufactured crisis they could not get half of it passed in any other one-month period either. This crew is using the economic meltdown as an excuse to get all their favorite projects rammed through Congress with no debate.

This is a new low even for the Democratic Party.

Yes. There is an economic meltdown and there are big isues with our economy. Something needs to be done. But what is needed is level-headed, well thought out solutions that have more than an even chance of working.

  • TheBigB

Much of the bill is irresponsible but possibly the scariest thing is the health provision that is being slipped in. It will
electronically track all of our medical information on a national level. This is far more invasive of our privacy than the patriot act could have ever dreamed of. If you were concerned about a health issue and did not want it on your main records— now you could go to a different doctor. That could remain discreet. But with this provision anywhere you go will be recorded into your national records. All mental health, maybe some embarrasing health problem you don’t want recorded for all to see. Of course its being billed as improving health care and streamlining it. But Government officals will be able to “track” you treatments and intervene.
THis being slipped into a stimulus bill is outrageous.
We need to start ’screaming’ at our senators. I have sent emails but this story will renew my efforts today. There is not anything more important for us today than to contact the senators —again.

I believe it is some kind of marketing tool but it could be used in some really bad ways if there is no oversight. Case in point. When I had my back surgery, I had a hard time taking narcotics, so my primary care doctor (not my back doctor) moved me to tramadol. And within one week I started getting e-mails for cheap Tramadol from online pharmacies. Coincidence maybe, but when my husband got some husbandly help from his doctor, I started getting getting e-mails for the drug. My doctor and my insurance company both have my house e-mail address.

Pat’s a god compared to the liberal and neconservative commentators. He was right from the beginning and still is.

  • AlexisM

Somehow we are going to have to find an honest, responsible media outlet that will print the truth. What I can’t believe…this BS by the Fraud and Pelosi Pig affects the families of journalists too. At what point do they say to hell with lying for the Fraud? At what point do they regret trashing America because their reporting became fraudulent? They have mothers, fathers, children, etc. WTF is wrong with idiots like Olbernut and Mr. Tingle?

  • Bazooka

    Susan,

You are betting the stimulus doesn’t revive the economy? Or are you hoping it does not work so you can blame Obama?

As has been stated the concept is to stop the rate of decline and try and turn the economy in the right direction. Even if the economy remains weak in 2010, which I am sure it will be, the question is how much weaker would it have been without the stimulus?

Also, what is the alternative, to do nothing? There is a huge risk to that as well?

I have not really heard a very good argument against the stimulus?

First argument was that it was all pork. That is complete BS, the 2% that most were complaining about is now out, and there is some really serious good investment in the plan.

Second argument is we should just rely on tax cuts? That would also drive the deficit up and there is absolutely no evidence that tax cuts will create any jobs whatsoever? especially in the short-term.

Third argument is that we should do nothing. Great, lets get in the downward spiral of deflation and see how long it takes for us to get out. Also, seems a little irresponsible for the government to do nothing. As many economist have said, in ordinary times or ion an ordinary recession, yes we could do nothing, but these are no ordinary times.

Almost all of the OPEC countries are doing a stimulus. Many many economists say this is the best and quickest way to create jobs and to kick-start the economy.

Sure it is not great that the deficit goes up, although a trillion of spending is less than 3% of GDP so not that big a deal. However, if you want to blame anyone for the increase in the deficit from a stimulus, blame the Republicans and the Bush adminstrations, as they got us into this mess.

    LOL

  • AOK

I see that you PUMAs are whining again. Obama must have done something right.

  • AOK

She’s hoping that it fails. That’s all these pitiful PUMAs can do. They hoped that Obama would lose in the primary. That failed as he beat Hillary, who’s now working for him BTW. They hoped that Gramps McCain and the Neocon spokesmodel Palin would defeat him in the GE. That also failed. They then relied on bogus internet rumors to derail his election win. It did not. Now they can only hope that the Economic Recovery Package fails. It remains to be seen, but it most likely will work seeing that every time that the PUMAs bet against the president, he won.

Were you one of those unfortunate creatures who was left behind, child, during the Dubya years? No wonder you’re so pissed all the time. It must be difficult seeing all your peers with great jobs and you making $0.05 per post. Hell, your post is to enlighted commentary as That One’s speeches are to oratorical brilliance.

A piece of advice: learn some skill as your writing ability ain’t making it, drip.

    Don’t bother coming back, bonehead.

  • Ferd Berfle

You must want that Thunderbird really bad to come here posting the same old tripe day-in and day-out. Cripes, I’ll give you three nickels (3-posts worth) if you’ll go lower the collective IQ at HuffnPuffPo. Besides, you’d feel right at home with the anal-retentive, control freaks who freuqent that site.

  • BB

The more the personal attacks the weaker their arguments… All Ferd ever does on here is throw insults around. Not much real value in Ferd’s commentary.

  • Ferd Berfle

You are about 12, huh? Why not respond to me directly, one of little intestinal fortitude?

You just used the ad hominem abusive as an argument against mine. The difference between yours and mine being that I don’t argue with the likes of you and didn’t argue to the commenter to which I responded–I just let it and you know what you are, especially when you come here to shed heat and no light on a subject. Were you this anal-retentive when Mommy and Daddy were potty-training you a few years ago?

If you want an argument, try using a bit of logic prior to posting your histrionics. Alternatively, you could just go away, troll.

Ant any rate, I am not awaiting anthing of substnace from you but more prepackaged, prefabriicated pablum suppied you by some supplicant website to That One.
