Nancy Pelosi and her $30 million rats

This video, featuring Congressman Jack Kingston from Georgia, would be very funny if it wasn’t so scary. In it he talks, among other things, about Nancy Pelosi’s $30 million earmark to save California rats!
For those who are suffering economic hardships, Kingston suggests you go to Los Angeles and borrow some money from these rats, who can be found on Rodeo Drive sporting the latest in designer wear while sipping their cheese-laced decaffeinated lattes.
“They must be some fine looking animals. We don’t just spend money like that on just any old rats…,” he says.
“They probably wear flip-flops and sunglasses as they go to Saucelito for lunch and look out across the bay at Alcatraz and say ‘hey, is that where the Guantonemo prisoners are going to end up?’ Probably not, because that would be an earmark.”
He says there are at least $2 billion in “phantom” earmarks – projects for states that qualify as phantom earmarks because, unlike Pelosi’s earmark for the rats, there are no names attached to them.
He also calls attention to a “non-earmark earmark” to to study profit-making companies in American Samoa!
