Here’s Your Change……..

barack-change-all

Well, the Obama stimulus bill has passed. The economy is now Obama’s. For good. Or for ill. Only time will tell.

He fought for it. He sold it. Now Obama will no longer be able to blame Bush for the economy. With passage of this bill, the economy is now his and the Democrat’s.

I hope and pray that it works. Not because I like Obama, but because I don’t want America and my fellow citizens to suffer. I don’t know about all of you, but I don’t do suffering well.

What say all of you?

  • Jim S

    Shouldn’t the headline read:

    “Here’s your change…CHUMP!”

  • pixiec

A friend of ours recently moved to Chicago last summer and came for a visit. He said that people are turning against him already. After the election everyone was dancing and cheering and now grumbling and calling him a con man plus they now say he’s not an African American but to quote “his sorry ass was born in Kenya”
This is just our friend’s view of events. He is new to Chicago and hates that politics effect everything there.

  • tminu

Actually, that’s good news, and needs to be egged on the sooner the better.

  • LDW

It is very, very unfortunate that Obama and his team have wasted what could have been a golden opportunity to change the course of the American economy and steered it in the direction of the new ‘green’ industries that could mark the beginning of a new sustainable industrial age. Why can’t laid off auto-workers, for example, be reptrained to build windmills or geothermal heat-pump systems? America is a world leader in technology, but Europe and Asia could pass her by in the new ‘green’ age if America doesn’t get going soon.

Obama’s team, instead, has indebted Americans to pay for the mistakes of Luddite industries and to fund ‘earmarks’ or ‘pork’ for political friends.

  • MrX

Sad to say, but I’ve acted like Obama before. I once had a ton of bills and was losing my job. I felt like a cashflow machine and nothing more. So I decided to enjoy myself and let the chips fall where they may. That’s what Obama is doing. If the economy is going to hell, then the Democrats are taking their share before it all comes crashing down.

Obama isn’t acting like someone who is trying to save the economy. He’s acting like someone who is already resigned to the idea that the economy is beyond saving.

  • Lisa_NY

It’s sad isn’t it? The press is hailing this as an Obama win and he’s off to Chicago celebrating, while Pelosi celebrates in Europe.
Great Leaders the sheeple have chosen. And the press got on Bush’s case for playing golf during the Iraq War? Talk about double standard.
Does the man spend any time in Washington , or are we witnessing a Celeb President whose ego is almost as big as this pork bill he and his cronies just shoved down our throats?

  • Carol HAKA

Don’t worry – they are for sure to start spending a lot of time in the Western WH – Hawaii!

Tighten up America – you need to learn to tighten your belts – this meltdown is all of your fault!

    CAROL HAKA

F*ck Him and the Lying Press that gave him to us!

  • freespirit

    I second that emotion.

  • Sassy

My first point is that my Senators and Representative voted against this package, and my voice was heard through their advocacy on the floor. They did an admirable job, and the process worked, even though my side lost.
My second point is that the Democrats succeeded in indenturing their voting block, through sheer numbers and their welfare give-aways.

  • MBC

I’m listening to Sen. McCain on CNN (I know, I know) and he is still sounding hopeful that the next time on the next bill, things will be different. Still sounding positive that the Democrats will act in a bi-partisan way and engage the Republicans in true negotiations. So sad Senator. We lost an opportunity to really change this and stabilize the housing market. And the recipients of these earmarks and pork will burn through this money faster than you can blink. Next year when the Bush tax cuts expire, the new tax structure will blow us away. If you own a house with more square footage then the govt. believes is appropriate for your family, you will be taxed. If you drive too far to work, you will pay more tax, if you have a 401K that makes more than a govt’ determined amount, you will pay tax. Don’t the sheeple realize anything over the “poverty” level will be considered “rich” and you will be taxed. Scary.

  • obamastolemyboyfriend

I was having A political discussion with a friend’s husband last night. We both talked about how sad it is and how our country is already changed forever in that elections are now (and have been for a while) the win for the one who can buy it and Chicago politics is on the national level and we most likely can’t get it out of there. Chicago can’t get rid of it, how will we? I would love to assume that with Obama’s screw ups and the dems shenanigans that there will be a big power switch in 2010 and 2012, but then I remember how I thought there was no way Obama could win when people learned the truth about him and saw him for what he was. I thought there was just no way people would go for some unknown, inexperienced person after the mess of Bush. I figured we would want a sure workhorse and common sense person to clean it up. I truly thought Obama stood no chance against Hillary. All things considered equal, that would have been true, but the Presidency was bought and paid for and we are stuck with the bill. Can Obama do all these things in plain sight and then buy another term? It is my understanding that he already has 75 million left from 2008 for his 2012 run. Can we get rid of this guy? I am hoping for an impeachable offense or an illness (the guy looks unhealthy)because i never thought we’d suffer eight years of Bush, but we sure the hell did. We have got to make sure Obama gets no second term. This bad 3 weeks in? None of us will even be around for a 2nd Obama term at this rate!

  • Elizabeth

I doubt they’ll be able to burn through it all that quickly. Federal agencies and state recipients of this funding are to a large extent going to be dealing with more money than they have the programs and resources to expend it into for the first 2-3 years. The loans given to car makers last summer to start producing energy efficient vehicles haven’t been tapped yet, for instance, for exactly such a reason.

Maybe it is a good thing that the impact circulates gradually throughout the economy if this is such a different kind of recession — but the bottom line is we don’t have the money. I only hope Republicans can start rescinding some of the most non-targeted, timely and unstimulative parts of the bill when they come into Congressional majority 2010.

  • lark

Now Michelle seems to have a sincere smile for a change. It must be every evil thing whitey has done to her is now forgiven. She got what was coming to her.

  • lark

I hope and pray that it works

Spending more than you collect in revenue always has some short term advantage. Short term. Like getting drunk.

  • MBC

I am usually an optimist, however, I can see the writing on the wall. By the time, the elections come up in 2010, the IT folks at Google will have perfected their manipulation of the electronic voting and for every vote cast for a Republican, two will be transmitted for a Democratic.

  • I’m a Linda too

    well said.

    These days…
when I see an Obama bumper sticker,
I get an overwhelming urge to

Unfortunately for you PUMAs, most Americans approve of what the president is doing. They approve of how he’s handling the economic crisis. The only ones not happy with his methods are of course you bitter PUMAs and the rest of the ditto head neocons. We are on the right side of this issue and that point will be proved in the coming months. Like the neocons, I encourage you PUMAs to keep belittling the efforts of this current administration. It will be that much sweeter when we rub your faces in it’s success 8 years from now.

  • Ferd Berfle

You just got your PowerPoint presentation from botHQ, I see, Okey-Dokey. Not that anyone cares, troll, but is your brain hard-wired to Obamabot Central or do you get this rubbish via osmosis?

You really ought to make an honest effort at actually reading the crap you post before you post it. It will save you a lot of embarrassment in the long-run.

It will be that much sweeter when we rub your faces in it’s success 8 years from now.

And that is the sum total of your measly existence. You have nothing. are nothing, and aspire to nothing.

  • Donna Brazile

    Ferd,

That’s all Okey-Dokey wants to be able to say.

Everything That One does is Okey-Dokey with me, I don’t need transparency or anything else That One promises.

    Stop the lovefest!

  • Ferd Berfle

For sure, Donna. Have you ever noticed that bots cast no reflection in a mirror?

  • TeakwoodKite

Ferd Berfle… AOK would want nothing more than to be with the “in crowd”. Facts matter naught…

I am always amused when the word ‘we’ is used in such a fashion.

  • The Real HC

“Now Obama will no longer be able to blame Bush for the economy.”

I highly doubt Obama will ever stop blaming Bush. He shirks personal responsibility and Bush Bashing sells well to his target audience.

  • Peggy Sue

“It will be that much sweeter when we rub your faces in it’s success 8 years from now.”

Yeah, you can do that while we’re standing in the country’s soup line. You Obamatrons are absolute fools. Hope you enjoy the ride down into economic ruin.

And as one of those bitter PUMAs, I’ll try not to whisper: I told you so.

  • AlexisM

I think it’s worse than that. Obama is being instructed by his owners to let it go to hell so that our monetary system crashes and the dollar is destroyed. Obama has nothing to do with the choice. He’s just ignorant and lazy.

  • AlexisM

Then it’s up to us, as Americans, to do our job to reform voting laws, etc. We have time between now and 2010 to get together and stop this insanity. It’s “We the People” and we need to start acting like it and not be sheeple too.

  • AlexisM

There’s no prayer in hell, none whatsoever, that Obama will have a second term. I really don’t think he will make it through the first one without some serious problems. He’s not the President in the first place, and people are rapidly finding that out. The polls are showing it. Today my mother’s paper had a front page story on Obama’s lack of experience and how it’s “showing.” The Crap Sandwich will tank and people will blame the Dems because the GOP stayed out of it. The latest poll I posted says that 33% of the people think Obama will end up in the “bottom 10″ ranked Presidents. It’s not a done deal by any means that he will be around in 2012. No way.

That said, we have to make noise with our reps and with the public to call attention to this stuff.

  • AlexisM

It’s funny…the trolls just seem so desperate and hungry these days. They know the truth and it’s not good for B-Crack. I say we stop feeding the bottom feeders and move on.

  • Ferd Berfle

I am always amused when the word ‘we’ is used in such a fashion.

I expect the presence of a mouse at any moment.

  • Ferd Berfle

He shirks personal responsibility and Bush Bashing sells well to his target audience.

And his predecessor did the same thing with WJC. More evidence that That One is Shrub II.

  • OhioMary

I heard on one of Bret Baier shows on Fox today that he has plans to give a speech every week somewhere in the US.

  • bill

I’ve wondered about that too. We could be international leaders in renewable energy or energy efficiency (assuming we are not already leaders). Twenty years ago when environmental regulations and Community Right to Know laws kicked in, American industry and technology developed efficient ways to cut costs and environmental damage by more effective business and manufacturing processes. Now we sell that to other countries that are environmentally concerned (not China or Russia). Why not train workers for new industries?

  • trixta

If not Bush then Obama always has Clinton to blame (either one, take your pick).

I say this to AOK -
Stick to the main stream media and that’s what they will tell you. Obama is falling in approval ratings and as we are being watch the media and David Axerol watches what we say on all blogs don’t you think that’s how they came up with what we are talking of on all blogs as well as turn it around.

Where do you think they get and prepare in what to say? hey take what we are saying and then talk as this is going on as to twist what really is going on and Millions of Ameicans are out here.Obama is a fraud as well as the main stream media. BOYCOT THE MEDIA

    Aok

most Americans approve of what the president is doing. They approve of how he’s handling the economic crisis

I think most Americans are just holding on for dear life and just hope something good will come from all these spending bills.
Here at NQ we go beyond just following the leader and give honest and structured criticism based on historical parallels which are obvious to see.

  • ziggy

Change. ‘Cause that’s all you’ll have when I’m done.

What’s missed there is that change is all many Americans have left in their pockets now. Many more are only a paycheck or two from disaster.

So what do we say to them?

  • Ferd Berfle

What’s missed there is that change is all many Americans have left in their pockets now. Many more are only a paycheck or two from disaster.

We haven’t missed that, ZIg-Zag. We want to stop That One from taking that, too.

That’s Marxism for you plain and simple.

Why should I excel and provide for others if all I can look forward to is a Big Mac and a crowded bus home.

  • AlexisM

Seattle…that’s when all people with money and businesses leave. Oops, they already are. Oh well. This is what all the OButts have to look forward to: Nancy, B-Crack, Harry Reid and all of the other criminals eating their 100 Dollar a Pound Beef, jetting around in their private jets, luxuriating and vacationing all over the world, driving around in limos, etc. and then every single other US citizen riding a green bus and eating gruel. It’s coming folks, but, hey it’s what the OButts wanted.

  • Ferd Berfle

It’s coming folks, but, hey it’s what the OButts wanted.

Yeah, it’s called the lowest common denominator and they’re in adoration of the concept.

  • AlexisM

It’s sadly called jealousy and laziness. It makes me sick. It’s not what America is about and if people wanted that life they should have moved elsewhere. It’s so pitiful that a large amount of the people who voted for B-Crack did so because they don’t want to work, and they want to punish successful people by sucking their blood. Ugh.

  • AlexisM

  • Seattle Moss

    Alexis,
I’m actually looking for a source for straight jackets and tear gas…

I’m stocking up on the popcorn too!

  • ziggy

Sure there is. If the economy turns around and begins a significant recovery during the next year or two as a result of stimulus package spending, the republicans will be the people who made a nearly unanimous effort to stop it. Their tax cut mantra won’t get much traction because the democrats have just enacted large tax cuts–which the republicans will also have voted almost unaniously against.

It will also be remembered that the republicans voted against a lot of provisions designed to help Americans experiencing hard times when the crisis was at its worse.

The republicans–with 3 notable exceptions–are only positioned for a political comeback if stimulus fails. They’ve placed all of their bets on failure. If they’re not careful, they’ll be perceived as working and hoping for it.

  • AlexisM

    Seattle,

Stock up on those straight jackets. And beanies with propellers.

Here’s something I found very encouraging…We should all feel this way:

    The Road To Payback

    Canada Free Press
    Bob Parks
Posted on Sunday, February 15, 2009

Many of you have made comments on this site that illustrate your justified frustration about what America is turning into. I’ve tried to be optimistic publicly and privately.
If you won’t listen to me, here’s the most optimistic (almost to the point of my being giddy) retort to your pessimism.
Is it time to panic? No, my friends, it’s not time to panic, because nothing gets done in a panic. What we have to realize is this: the left, the Democrat Party, will not control the government forever. It just will not happen. They are going to overreach. They’re going to overreach pretty quickly.
Polling data already shows that, in a generic race for Congress, it’s tied Republican and Democrat. Only when you put the names in… Nobody can believe this. Fifty-six percent of the American people now are in opposition to the stimulus in total or in part.
    He’s just warming up….
Not one Republican from the House, not one Republican Senator is involved in the conference between the House and the Senate to come up with a bill that both support. Not one Republican in this new era of responsibility, not one Republican in this new era of bipartisanship. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have shut the Republicans out. This is from Mike Pence, congressman from Indiana.
So, let ‘em go ahead with these tactics. We can’t stop them anyway. We lost the election. But they’re going to lose down the road. They will not control government forever, and when our turn comes, we are going to turn the power of government against the left. We are going to investigate them. We are going to hold public hearings. We are going to humiliate them. We’re going to nationalize their unions.

  • Seattle Moss

I was talking to an obot today at church
She said that soon I would have to give up my big republican car and all my earthly possessions for the good of all society.

My response…Have you seen that new Challenger..
Think I will buy the one with the Hemi!

  • AlexisM

Ohhhhhh Challengers are hot. If they weren’t such a boy car I would go get one too. I’m thinking one of those Mercedes SUVs.

Maybe what the OButts don’t get is that by the time they start sticking their paws into our pockets, and having our cars repo’d, that it will be time to oust all those crooks from Congress and the White House anyway. I can’t believe these people really believe they are going to turn America into Cuba. Oh well.

  • AlexisM

ziggy, sadly for America this stimulus package is going to flop miserably because it was a Crap Sandwich to start with. I will proudly be switching my own party affiliation to GOP because the Dims are going to be buried for a long time, if not for good, when this tanks.

Obama had a chance…a chance he doesn’t deserve and he never earned…to do a good thing for this country. Instead, he did what we all knew he would do. He never read the bill, didn’t care what was in it, went along with his owners’ plan to destroy America’s monetary system, and will forever be attached to this piece of garbage.

The GOP wasn’t betting on failure. They were trying desperately to instill some fiscal responsibility in a very corrupt, partisan, spendthrift group of losers who are going to be our final coffin nail. I know you are told to use these talking points, but they’re silly.

Oh yeah, what I usually do with OBots who blindly defend the Bacon Bill is ask them to point out exactly where, and I mean exactly, you think it is valuable. Bet you can’t because it’s nothing but a pork laden tribute to Nancy Pelosi’s lack of a brain.

  • Seattle Moss

Good read and thanks to the poster.

Obama was able to win because you could not pin anything on the guy. He obfuscated his whole way to the white house
Well now he owns the stimulus. There is no turning back.
Also militants on the left are pushing their various agendas to the shock and dismay of ordinary right of center Americans.

Let’s see these left wing loonies try to investigate the war on terror and see what happens to them down the road.

  • Ferd Berfle

You’re bloviating about a lot of unknowns and assumptions. For all you know the economy could get better with or without the stimulus package or fail with or without it.

As it stands, your argument consists solely of the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy or false cause and I’m sick of hearing it from those of you who couldn’t analyze your way out of a Wal-Mart shopping bag. Throwing this much money around is bound to have negative consequences, something should be thought about long and hard. What may indeed happen is that this money creates a do-loop in which the problem arises, money is thrown at it; the problem re-arises and money is re-thrown at it, ad nauseam. I don’t think anyone knows enough about the process to make statements such as yours. But let’s do try your little experiment and if it doesn’t work, are you willing to pay us back for the money you boobs will have wasted?

  • Ferd Berfle

205 more weeks of this? Mama Mia!

It is a depressing thought. 8 years of one arrogant, dogmatic boob followed by four years of yet another arrogant, dogmatic boob.

  • Seattle Moss

Obama based his whole campaign based on failure in Iraq.
When the Iraq war became the non issue Obama and his minions wished for the economy to tank.

Republicans just don’t want to see Hyper Inflation. That’s why they are against the Opork bill.

  • Andy

AOK: you are really sad…. Try some Vitamin B; they say it helps with brain activity…

  • ziggy

I suggested something in another post that bears repeating here. Democrats have just made a brilliant move. They’ve quickly inacted an 8-year backlog of long-thwarted progressive initiatives by rolling them into the stimulus package bundle, and simultaneously turned the required spending into their primary weapon to attack the economic crisis.

If this produces the desired results, it’s going to be very difficult to make it look bad. Funding popular progressive programs will have turned the downward spiral of the economy.

With the economy on the mend, we’d be able to turn attention to the deficit, and necessary changes in entitlement programs. (Obama already hinted that was in his agenda. I was surprised nobody jumped on the fact that he’d taken a cautious step toward the third rail of American politics.)

  • oowawa

Throwing this much money around is bound to have negative consequences

Yes indeed, Ferd. What are some of these negative consequences?

1–A lot of money is simply going to “disappear.”

2–A lot of people who don’t deserve it and who haven’t earned it are going to be rolling in moolah.

3–A lot of money will be wasted, for the same reason Sir Edmond climbed Everest: “because it is there.”

4–So much has been allocated to various areas, that finding ways to spend it will be a creative challenge.

5–The money will create zombie bureaucracies that will seek to perpetuate their ersatz existence by sucking in ever more money.

    What am I missing?

  • Ferd Berfle

You’re spot on, oowawa. I can only add:

2a-Those who shouldn’t get it will receive it into perpetuity because they have no qualms about taking from others what wasn’t theirs to begin with and won’t fess up.
3a-A lot of money will also be wasted because their aren’t enough qualified people in government to ensure the money is spent as directed. And putting a Barky fan in charge is as good as putting a torch to the money.

  • oowawa

Well Hallelujah! I’m ready to swing from the chandeliers! One’s too many and a thousand’s not enough! Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes!

Someone will come along tomorrow to clean up the mess, I’m sure. Now where’s the party?

Unfortunately, it’s the children and the unborn who will be paying for this binge.

  • ziggy

…are you willing to pay us back for the money you boobs will have wasted?

As much so as the total debt accumulated during the Reagan, Bush 1, and Bush 2 years. At least in this case I’d be thinking I had my own policy misjudgements to blame.

  • oowawa

It will be that much sweeter when we rub your faces in it’s success 8 years from now.

Good to know, ziggy, that you will be blaming yourself when the economy becomes a million times worse because Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing, and doesn’t really care. It’s always great to see the Obots be responsible for their actions and (incorrect of course) opinions based on the talking points they are dictated to bloviate about.

  • Katmoon

That’s really creepy in a Hale_Bop sortof way. Strange isn’t it, bizarre expectations of those who walk happily off the cliff.

  • AlexisM

ziggy, so with your logic, and your whining, Obama destroying America is okay because you hate Republicans? You do know that this is going to destroy your life too? Even if you are living with your parents, and get a weekly allowance, your life is going to change. Big time. Keep that in mind when you rail on the past and give the Fraud a hall pass because you’re made a Dubya.

Stimulus Verdict: A $3.27 Trillion Porker

    Saturday, February 14, 2009 9:40 AM

    By: David A. Patten

The gargantuan stimulus bill Congress has rubber-stamped with virtually no Republican support contains tens of billions of the very spending projects that made the legislation a lightning rod for criticism.

And although the bill is generally described as costing $787 billion, the Congressional Budget Office reports the actual figure is now closer to $3.27 trillion.

That stems from the $744 billion it will take to pay for the additional debt the legislation will create, and $2.527 trillion in increased spending from the new and expanded programs the bill will spawn over the next decade.

To view the letter to Nancy Pelosi, go here.

The bill now spans more than 1,000 pages. While Democrats removed some provisions that fiscal conservatives objected to, most of the pork remains. Among them:

The plan has more than $3 billion in neighborhood stabilization and Community Development Block Grant funding, much of which may go to benefit ACORN, a low-income housing and voter registration community organization that is under federal investigation for its suspicious voter registration practices.

    # $1.3 billion to bailout AMTRAK, the perennial money-loser railroad.

    # $1 billion for educational programs, including courses on sexually transmitted diseases.

    # $30 million for restoration of wetlands to be spent in the San Francisco Bay Area House Speaker Nancy Pelosis district. The money will go in part to protect the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.

    # $200 million for a low-pollution, coal-fired power plant in President Barack Obamas home state of Illinois.

    # $45 million for ATV four-wheeler trails, and government office renovations, according to RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

    # $200 million to provide computers to community colleges.

    # $50 million for the National Endowment of the Arts.

    # Over $650 million in coupons to help consumers buy digital TV converter-box coupons.

    # A reported $300 million for hybrid vehicles and electric-powered cars. According to the Washington Times, this item will include buying golf carts for federal workers.

GOP Sen. John McCain summed up his view of the bill: This measure is not bipartisan. It contains much that is not stimulative.

Some of the criticisms of the bill, however, center on policy rather than cost.

The Heritage Foundation, for example, reports the bill reverses the bipartisan welfare reforms achieved during the Clinton administration.

Also, opponents have slammed the bill for being anti-religious, because it expressly prohibits the use of stimulus funds for faith-based schools, schools of divinity, facilities used for sectarian worship, or places of religious worship.

But I don’t want my company to leave and I surely don’t want to leave. I want my country back!

He fought for it. He sold it. Now Obama will no longer be able to blame Bush for the economy. With passage of this bill, the economy is now his and the Democrat’s.

It’s one thing when pundits or citizens continue to bash Bush, but it is really un-presidential for the new leader to keep insulting his predecessor. Obama doesn’t seem to understand the campaign is over. It’s time to act like a leader. Maybe someone should send him a Harry Truman plaque reminding him that “the buck stops here.”

NoBama wouldn’t know Presidential if it bit him on his constantly on fire (liar liar) pants. Can you imagine Bill Clinton being a wussy and just whining that “nothing is his fault?” God help us.

  • TexasMirth

AlexisM- I agree Obama doesn’t seem to understand “Presidential,” and that is just one of many signals that we’re in for some very bad times.

  • AlexisM

NoBama is sadly nothing but a lazy ass puppet for some people who are seriously dangerous to our well being, prosperity and security. Funny, on Hannity tonight, Dems admitting we are now a Socialist country, officially, and damned proud of it. I am so outraged and disgusted by the left.

Steady consumption of Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, etc will eventually destroy whatever capacity might originally have existed for independent thought.

    You forgot the Great One!

Why ziggy? Because you Bots can’t handle the God awful truth about the mess of NoBama? Pretty painful reality check for you coming honey.

PS. If you noticed my post, it wasn’t Hannity who said anything. It was brain dead left wing batcrap crazy Dimocrat loons who are happy to have destroyed America. It must be nice to belong to the party that thinks hard work and success are a bad thing, and that lazy slobs should live off of people who work for a living. Nice.

What was the rush to pass the Trillion Dollar Spending bill on Friday, with absolutely no debate,[no opportunity to read it in its entirety] when Obama flew to Chicago for a relaxing weekend in the Rezko Mansion, and won’t even sign this legislation until Tuesday?
