What About those Promises Mr. Clean?

(bumped up from Saturday night late by Susan)

Is Barack Obama a liar? Here is what he promised to do during the campaign:

So, will he wait until Wednesday to sign the stimulus bill?

He promised 5 day,s don’t cha know. Will he force the Congress to take out the pork that crept in?

I suspect the answer is, “hell no.” Barack the bamboozler is just another political huckster. What do you think?

  • Peggy Sue

    Huckster, Larry.

But then, didn’t we really know that in our heart of hearts? Obama has just put a big bow on it, pushed it our face. He “campaigned” for this pork-laden bill in the same way he campaigned for POTUS, said what ever he needed to. The “winning” is all. So, he lied about what the CEO of Caterpillar Co. said. Did the MSM make a big deal over it? Hell, no. Anything to protect “The One” and their own complicit responsibility in all this.

We’ve simply traded one huckster for another.

    We are all screwed!!

Only thing missing in that video is the rimshots between jokes.

I think they could have crammed a few more flags in too.

The stimulus is a great victory for Obama. His poll numbers are terrific. And four out of five polls show above 50% support for the bill.

The Republicans handling of this bill has been a complete disaster for them. Again the Republicans look lifeless and like a bunch of souless negative out of touch losers.

I am sure Obama encouraged by this victory will now aggressively push on with the larger agenda. If Republicans want to stand in the way, I say good luck with that winning strategy. They would be wise to follow Governor Crist of Florida, who also enjoys around 70% popularity in the polls.

Obama got more done in in this bill toward pushing his agenda than most Presidents get done in their entire term. More spending on infrastructure, energy policy, broadband, schools, etc. He even got a tax cut in there for the middle class.

Thank god you people on NQ really have no idea what you are talking about in your echo chamber. You get it wrong every time.

        • AlexisM

Wow, Julie, by my count that’s about 165-170 words. Good for you! So, Troll Central is paying by the word now? Wow, that must have been a whole 3$ worth of lying crap rant you went on. All at the expense of your country. Yippieeeeeeeeeeeee! Don’t spend it all in one place.

        • Diana L. C.

          Julie,

Remember that sometimes it’s just one person crying in the wilderness who is right, while the great majority are bamboozled. Whenever you argue polls, you are not arguing issues. I know you know the warning about lemmings, or maybe you don’t. Why don’t yous follow some of them and find out.

          • beebop

I am sure that Julie read this somewhere else and is only bringing this clodded clump of cold feces here to rub it in our faces …

        • Andy

Obama got more done in in this bill toward pushing his agenda than most Presidents get done in their entire term

Julie: I suggest you read some history. FDR got MUCH more than this in his first days:

“” On March 9th, 1933, only the sixth day of Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency, he signed the Emergency Banking Act–which revolutionized American banking–into law. It had been submitted at one o’clock that afternoon, passed the House by unanimous voice vote 38 minutes later, passed the Senate a few hours after that with only seven dissenting votes, and FDR signed it into law at 8:36 that evening. Now that’s quick, not to mention bipartisan, which no one can accuse the stimulus bill of being.

Indeed, by the 25th day of his presidency Roosevelt had also signed into law the bill creating the Civilian Conservation Corps to employ 250,000 young people, the Economy Act, which reorganized the government to reduce government expenses by $500 million, and the Beer-Wine Revenue Act legalizing low-alcohol drinks and taxing them heavily, which proved to be the death knell of Prohibition.

By June 16th, when Congress adjourned, Roosevelt had signed 14 major acts of legislation into law. “” (John Steele Gordon )

          The you say:

More spending on infrastructure, energy policy, broadband, schools, etc. He even got a tax cut in there for the middle class.

Ahem…But I would say this when done will be OUR accomplishment and that of the generations to come that will be paying for it for a very very long time…..

          • Julie

Well then Obama is in good company with FDR, except Obama got it all done in one bill.

Sure the country will have to pay for the bill, but this bill is nothing compared to the 7x more that Republicans added to the debt or close to $5 trillion they added to the debt over the last 8 years.

The bill is also a good investment for the future. Where did the Republicans money go? They have nothing to show for it. A Iraq war and a bunch of tax cuts for a lot of wealthy people who did not need the money.

At least with this $800 billion, we will have new schools, new highways, more broadband, better medical infrastructure, etc.

            • Donna Brazile

              Julickee:

Did you read the bill? You may want to rethink some of that slop you’ve been eatin’ up.

              Stop the lovefest!

            • Andy

I am not a Republican and yes they created a huge deficit. But the subprime mess is all due to the Dems. in Congress who have a shared responsibility for the mess we are in.

As Obama being in good company as FDR: Please. Don’t insult FDR. Obama has to do a LOT to even be in the same comparable league.Obama hasn’t done anything yet but win.
This stimulus bill was a shoo in: the Dems have huge majorities and the Repubs said were not going to filibuster.
So, I don’t know what the hoplala is about: what? was ANYONE doubting the stimulus was going to pass?? I do not think so.

What I quoted about FDR was to show you the fallacy of your statement that “noone had done as much”. You were repeating Pelosi’s idiotic and FALSE line.

Read up some history Julie and think on your own.

            • Andy

One more thing: the stimulus so far might be an expected “political victory” for Obama. But the proof is in the pudding.
We already know that what FDR enacted did. For Obama’s it will have to pass many years before anyone knows if it succeeds.
So stop the grandiose statements and start praying!!

              • Julie

We will know in the next 18 months if the bill is working. If we start see a slowing of the hemoragging of jobs, that will be a pretty good sign that it probably made a difference. The extension of unemployment benefits, Medicaid and the cash going to the states, to keep teachers, police and firemen on the job, will have a pretty direct and immediate impact.

Yes, Donna I as much as I could of the bill. Seems like we are not reading the same document. What exact spending do you have a problem with?

Here is where you can find a good summary of all the spending.

                http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123458384689487271.html

A few of the larger items:
$6.4 bn of waste water treatment plants
                $29 bn Hwy construction
                $8 high speed rail
                $40 bn modernizing schools
                $17.5 bn health records
                $4.4 bn electric grid
                $4 bn rural broadband
                etc. etc. etc.

            • Julie

I would add two more points. All countries in the OECD are also doing stimulus packages and are adding to their debt.

And if you want to blame the deficit, including the extra debt from this stimulus, on anyone you have to blame it on the Republicans. Your buddies are the ones who got us here in the first place.

              • Donna Brazile

                No Julickee:

It’s people like you who just accept what is told to them by the media and their chosen one. Just like the Bushies, we now have Obots falling in line lock stock and barrel.

You’re the problem when you don’t think it’s wrong that your REPRESENTATIVES voted on a bill they didn’t even READ. That’s how we got into Iraq. So, quit the cheerleading and finger pointing and start questioning.

                Stop the lovefest!

                • AlexisM

Exactly Donna. People like Julie just spout off “where’s the bad spending?” ROFLMAO. How about every page of it. Just once I wish an Obot had brains enough not to just cut and paste articles, but to actually explain item by item why it “stimulates” the economy. Guess it’s because they can’t explain it.

                  • Julie

no problem. you have a different view. I believe that government can make a difference and you believe there is no role for government.

you believe in hardcore conservative values and I am a liberal.

unfortunately for you most of the people in this country agree with me.

there is not need for the insults.

I would say the bill is part stimulus and part a rescue package. something I belive the country desparately needs right now and something that makes huge economic sense.

if you Republicans had not screwed it up, we would not need this bill right now. so blame yourselves. unfortunately we will now all have to pay for the mistakes or your republican party.

                    • AlexisM

                      Julie,

First, you need to get a little education on this site. We’re not Republicans, or people who started that way. So, that’s your first mistake.

Second, we welcome Bot opinions, no problem as long as they aren’t insulting and obnoxious. But what kind of tips us off to trolls is exactly what you just did…call us Republicans and ranting about “our party.”

All we did is ask you to defend the bill on its merit. You can’t do that. All you can do is incult people for what you claim their party affiliation is. That’s not really constructive. My guess is, if an adult sat down with you and discussed the bill, you yourself would understand that it’s not about party. It’s about the fact that we all just got conned by the biggest generational theft bill in history. Sorry the Kool Aid blinded you to reality. Period.

                    • Julie

nobody has asked me to defend the stimulus bill, but I will since you asked:

it will create jobs, hopefully this will slow the rate of decline or help kick start the economy

it gives a significant tax break to the middle class, which will hopefully put more money in people’s pockets and get them spending again.

it will invest in infrastructure that will help the country in the future. some desperately needed areas will be getting some new money

it will immediately help out states, with medicade and other funds, who desparately need cash right now..

that is four directions that the bill attempts to help the country and the economy. since the private sector is not working right now and the interest rate lever cannot go any further down, the government is the last resort.

it may not be large enough of a bill, but it is at least an attempt to get things going. the side benefit is that the democrats get to push their agenda in energy, the environment, healthcare and education.

it is not much different than what just about every country on the planet is doing now.

sure the stimulus will add to the debt, but the U.S. can afford it. the real “public” debt as a percentage of GDP will only climb back up to about where it was during clinton’s time.

a mortgage plan is coming next and a more difficult plan to help the banks continues to be drafted.

all of this would not have been necessarily if the republicans you now support did not screw this up in the first place.

                    • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

                      Julie –
“it gives a significant tax break to the middle class, which will hopefully put more money in people’s pockets and get them spending again.”

I heard the tax cut are $13/week, ($400/year) which is not significant.

Could you please explain what the significant tax breaks are?

I also heard that there are so many loopholes that many people won’t qualify. Small business, especially.

                    • beebop

AGII … don’t try to reason with these people. They are still sucking at the 0mama teet.

$13 …. when the people getting assistance are bennefitting more from not working …. there’s a great plan.

Also, wasn’t their messiah making fun of little sums like this when HRC and JSM were suggesting a short gas tax holiday? Called it pennies? I guess it’s just not significant when you are getting it from his competition. But when you are buying loaves and fishes, it is a huge amount … these people needed to stay in school a little longer.

                    • Donna Brazile

                      Julickee,

My point exactly! You have stated the stimulus package talking points ad nauseum.

Were you listening when R. Emanual said it was a good time to put things in the bill that you’ve always wanted?

If this is such a dire circumstance, you don’t have time nor the inclination to include such fluff.

No one here is arguing that investing in infrastructure is bad or wrong– it isn’t. It’s just that it’s only a small percentage of the bill.

The problem is that you only identify with the neatly packaged label (i.e., liberal, progressive, conservative) and you can’t think past those to really look at the big issues.

                      Stop the lovefest!

                    • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

yes beebop, you are right! and if you recall, Ms. Michelle Obama scoffed at the $600 rebates. *what can you do with $600? buy a pair of earrings!*

                      Right on Brazile! :O)

                    • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

Julie – this is NOT all the fault of the Repblican party. The housing bubble, and the sub-prime mortgage crash is a major cause of this problem. You need to do a little more research. and you need to research who is to blame for the sub-prime crisis, and deregulation.

        • Seattle Moss

How are we getting it wrong?
          We predicted the Obama collapse!
Based on class warfare that has tanked the market and caused 30 trillion in equities to disappear.

Opinion polls are fickle at best. Enjoy them now!

When the monopoly money is printed don’t be surprised if we have triple digit hyper inflation
Are you still going to love Obama when the jobs weren’t created and bread costs $15 a loaf.

I’m sure you will be rabidly angry at that point and memories of your blind support for Obama will be just a sore and regrettable memory.

          • Julie

You may not call yourself republicans, but you sure sound like them with your republican talking points and with you only quoting hardcore republican media. Every single article quoted on this website, with which you all agree, has been from not just right wing columnists, but from extreme right wingers. quack like a duck, must be a duck. You are certainly not democrats, as you attack every single thing democratic on here.

            • JulieD

It’s not about labels, it’s about ideas and actions.

The people on this site write about content, ideas and words.

You’d make a fine parrot with the right costume.

Why don’t you try to explain what you object to about someone’s writing

instead of just cheerleading for “what you just know will happen in the future…!!”?

If you think Democrat = Democratic you’re a political novice.

            • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

              a. what the heck is so great about being a democrat? many/most of the people on this blog started out as dems, and many bailed on the party after what happened this primary. the Dem party is full of corrupt pols, who pulled the most vile crap this past primary. I am proud to no longer be a member of that ass backwards party. I still hold some liberal views, but the party abandoned their principles.

              b. what is so wrong with being a republican? i find it so hysterical that Obama supporters try to *discredit* people by calling them *repubs*.

Obama supporters use every left wing talking points. And, considering how the DNC operated this past primary, they sure don’t sound *democratic*.

            • beebop

So long as ABC and the rest of the MSM gives a pass to the new regressive (sic) party and castigates the opposotion for the same behavior (Sherrod Brown using government jet to be the 60 vote on the porkulous package good — Ford, GM, Chrsyler execs using private jets paid for by THEIR COMPANIES bad) we are forced to go to sources that actually report facts. I don’t like it, but there you are. The Washington Post publishes EVERYONE’s comments. The NY Times? If you are articulate but don’t agree with the uber left? You are stuck in moderation. And. If you are out of line so that they can ridicule you? You get posted immediately. They want what you do Julie …. uber left and ultra right. Those two extremes will rip this country into two.

            • Ferd Berfle

These are the people I want running “public opinion.” The under informed.

You have that one right. I’ll even go a step further–polls are irrelevant except the one at the ballot box. Public opinion is both fickle and potentially biased, depending on the mood of the responder and the wording of the particular question. That’s why one sees such disjointed results. It is junk science.

              • beebop

This past election showed how irrelevent it can be made when the opinions of the masses are being manipulated. What will be interesting is what happens at the midterm. Barack the bamboozler is just another political huckster. What do you think?

What do I think? I think to call Obama “another political huckster” is to insult all the political hucksters out there. Obama is a coward. He is afraid to be honest with the American people. He says one thing to one group and something entirely different to the next. Ask General Anthony Zinni or Polish President Lech Kaczynski or Sen. Judd Gregg what they think about the words of our president – is Obama a leader with convictions and the guts to stand by them or a con man speaking out of both sides of his mouth, exploiting the citizens of this country with words…just words?

Why the hell is he coming here to Colorado? We are getting Two Whole Billion Dollars of that 789 Billion Dollars. In Pueblo, where I live we are not getting one damned cent for highways. We are getting about enough to pay for 10% of what we need to put air conditioning in some of our old falling down schools. And pretty much nothing else.
I work for the state. We going to have furloughs this summer. We are not getting raises, we are not allowed overtime and we are not replacing those who leave. How do we operate short-handed if we are not allowed to work overtime? I guess we are expected to work for free.

The “stimulus” is’t ging to do shit for me. Obama needs to sign his bill on K Street where those who will benefit from this all work. The lobbyists will be getting big fat bonuses after this.

      • Judy L. NC

Maybe he’ll be picking up those styrofoam columns from the Ocropolis and bringing them back to Washington for the next Big Speech.

Taxpayer revolt: Porkulus protest in Seattle, Obama to sign theft act in Denver

There should be one of these in every town in America. What are you doing? Liberty Belle announces a taxpayer protest against the porkulus tomorrow in Seattle:

The protest against the porkulus is on for President’s Day!
        Date: Monday, February 16th
        Time: 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Where: Westlake Park in downtown Seattle, 401 Pine St., in the open area by the big arch.
The idea is to use what we’ve learned about dissent over the last eight years. We need loud protests with lots noise and visuals. So, what should you bring?
Bring AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN! Bring your families, your friends, neighbors, bring everyone!
Bring SIGNS!! Get those craft making juices flowing and make signs and banners and pictures and paintings. Just imagine that you are a left-wing college student with nothing else to do and that should help you get started!
Bring something to sit on and appropriate clothing.
        Most importantly, JUST BRING IT!!!

The absolute truth? He will be campaigning for four years for the latest project of those who made his presidency possible and their ultimate goal is unknown. The sameness and repetition of his speeches will approach the point of indifference to his supporters here, in other countries and even to him. He was unable or unwilling at the beginning of his term to spend the time and effort necessary to produce a bill to address the real problems with the economy and turned the project over to the House and Senate. When opposition became loud enough to threaten his image, his response was to give speeches instead of reaching a compromise. In a few months, he will blame either Pelosi or Reid for it’s failure and he will still be clueless. Our country would be in trouble at this point even if we had a qualified CIC. It won’t take long for leaders from other countries to begin to act on his weaknesses and challenge/test him as Biden predicted. Barack Obama is a snake oil salesman in the tradition of Elmer Gantry and the Wizard of Oz.

    • Katmoon

That’s exactly correct, as that is all that one knows how to do, campaign. Most O supporters will say we have him for eight years. The effort to sway and manipulate the future election in four years, began before the last one ended.

I give him credit for the statement. They are doing in broad daylight.

When there are meetings between lobbiests and government agencies…we will.(stutter) will put as many of those as possible online for you to watch….

Personally I am not into pornograhpy but I know it when I see it… Brandise my arse BO! more like 20 years in a Church of Indifference.

    At this point I would be glad if he were ‘just’ a huckster. He is a totalitarian. Think I’m wrong? Name one righteous thing he has done for another person that hasn’t been a political ploy. {crickets}

He’s even lied about getting a bloomin’ dog for his kids!!

Sonic Ninja Kitty….Say it ain’t so!!!

      Darn!

      • http://sonicninjakitty.wordpress.com Sonic Ninja Kitty

        paper trained–LOL!!!

Obama won’t even have to deal with the dog if he doesn’t want to–just let those girls choose, for crying out loud!

    • obamastolemyboyfriend

I figured there would be no puppy for the girls. He’ll just make some excuse about how they need to sacrifice at times like these or something else lame, but only if the press ever mentions it. They won’t. Will there ever be any rela truth about Obama by the MSM?

I just want to scream. A couple of weeks ago someone on the blog suggested having a basket of small stuffed animals to throw at the tv when Obama speaks. I am going that route. My kids think I am crazy because I yell at the tv, although my 14 year old also does it!

      No quarter poll:

How many of you have screamed at the tv this year??? Well, and last year????

      • AlexisM

You don’t want me to speculate on why there’s no dog for those kids. I’ll keep my mouth shut on that one.

As for the tv…I haven’t seen Obama speak in, what, like 8 months? I didn’t see him speak much to begin with. Every time he opened his mouth I would get that tingly feeling, goosebumps and the hair on my neck stood up. He’s a liar. Every word out of this mouth. A lie. The cure for it? Don’t watch him. If I had to watch him I would shoot the tv.

        • Clara Barton

No dog deserves to be in an Obama household. BO sure wouldn’t care about it or give in the time of day. Can you see Meeshell “scooping” the WH lawn?

This astrologer is basically saying that his chart doesn’t bode well for the future, but she still believes that he is such a remarkable person, that he will do well despite what the charts are telling her. I thought these people looked at the charts and stated what they revealed, not all the hopey, changey stuff, we already have crammed down our throats by the media, and BO love. Why are so many people unable to see him for what he is-a flim flam man, who looks out for himself, and could care less about what is best for this country. Stephanopoulos said it best. When being raked over the coals for campaign promises that Clinton broke, Georgie replied, “We kept all of the promises that we intended to keep.”

Gibbs, are you listening to the master?

    • FLDemFem

Clinton had a Republican Congress to deal with. Obummer has a Democratic Congress. Therein lies the difference. Clinton got through what he thought, ie. intended, he could get through. Unlike Obummer, Clinton was, and is, a master politician. He got stuff through that totally hostile Congress that Obummer couldn’t have dreamed of getting through. Of course, Clinton worked hard to make connections in Congress and actually had major input, read hard work, on the bills that were passed. He balanced the damn budget, for crying out loud. Don’t compare Bill Clinton to Obummer. Bill Clinton is a workaholic policy wonk. Obummer is in it for the perks.

      • sandi78

So, what I want to know is what’s going to happen when “the people” run out of HOPE? When does reality hit the “hopeful?” When there’s nothing left, but the memory of all the “excitement” and the “hope” and the bills for all these fun and games come in, what then? What worries me is that I fear there are too many people in this country incapable of rational thought and critical thinking to even recognize the connections between cause and effect. Money, materialism, narcissism and the need to win have completely supplanted any sense of morality, ethics and fair-play. BO is a problem, but he also is a symptom of a much greater problem. We live in a country of children with childish needs and few skills….

Bill Moyers’ interview with former IMF Chief Economist and MIT professor Simon Johnson:

Simon Johnson’s premise is that the big Wall Street banks represent an oligarchy that is exerting undue influence and control on our government and the economy. They are turning this crisis to their advantage, and circumventing the democratic process.

What we are seeing looks to Simon Johnson like a financial coup d’etat.

“I think I’m signaling something a little bit shocking to Americans, and to myself, actually. Which is the situation we find ourselves in at this moment, this week, is very strongly reminiscent of the situations we’ve seen many times in other places.

But they’re places we don’t like to think of ourselves as being similar to. They’re emerging markets. It’s Russia or Indonesia or a Thailand type situation, or Korea. That’s not comfortable. America is different. America is special. America is rich. And, yet, we’ve somehow find ourselves in the grip of the same sort of crisis and the same sort of oligarchs…

But, exactly what you said, it’s a small group with a lot of power. A lot of wealth. They don’t necessarily – they’re not necessarily always the names, the household names that spring to mind, in this kind of context. But they are the people who could pull the strings. Who have the influence. Who call the shots…

…the signs that I see this week, the body language, the words, the op-eds, the testimony, the way they’re treated by certain Congressional committees, it makes me feel very worried.

I have this feeling in my stomach that I felt in other countries, much poorer countries, countries that were headed into really difficult economic situation. When there’s a small group of people who got you into a disaster, and who were still powerful. Disaster even made them more powerful. And you know you need to come in and break that power. And you can’t. You’re stuck….

The powerful people are the insiders. They’re the CEOs of these banks. They’re the people who run these banks. They’re the people who pay themselves the massive bonuses at the end of the last year. Now, those bonuses are not the essence of the problem, but they are a symptom of an arrogance, and a feeling of invincibility, that tells you a lot about the culture of those organizations, and the attitudes of the people who lead them…

But it really shows you the arrogance, and I think these people think that they’ve won. They think it’s over. They think it’s won. They think that we’re going to pay out ten or 20 percent of GDP to basically make them whole. It’s astonishing….

…these people are throughout the system of government. They are very much at the forefront of the Treasury. The Treasury is apparently calling the shots on their economic policies. This is a decisive moment. Either you break the power or we’re stuck for a long time with this arrangement.”

Interesting story at pajamas media also about his topic

Obama’s Broken Promises Were Entirely Predictable

  • I’m a Linda too

I guess we’ll get more confirmation when he signs this bill, huh? He’s backtracked on most of his other promises, except the ones we shuttered, like looking in to privatizing school and expanding faith based iniatives.

But, here is another FINE EXAMPLE of his empty words. Just throwing them together for cheers. Where were those people that in the very same speech, just seconds later, he contradicts his own pledge? They’re still there CHEERING. lol

So, in his first part of this speech, he said ” As President, I’m going to make it impossible for Congressman or Lobbyists to slip in Pork barrel projects or corporate welfare in to laws when no one is looking”. …. to….and, “if there’s a tax bill behing debated in Congres, you will know the name of the Corporations that will benefit and how much money they would get. And we would put every Corporate tax break and EVERY PORK BARREL PROJECT ON LINE FOR EVERY AMERICAN TO SEE. (he must learn periods and comma’s on teleprompters) You will know who asked for them (copying John McCain’s ‘you will know their name’ [of any earmarks]) And you can decide if your Representative is actually representing you.

So, he will be breaking how many promises when he signs this bill Monday (as stated) or Tuesday (as revised and costing American how much for this photo op to sign a bill in friggin’ Colorado).

He first promised there wouldn’t be any pork barrel projects, then said you will know the names of the Corporations and the Congress persons asking for this Pork Barrel Project he said he wouldn’t allow.

Republicans accuse Democrats of going on ‘spending spree’

      Dan Eggen | Washington Post

      2/14/2009 –
WASHINGTON — In rushing to pull together a landmark economic stimulus package last week, Democratic lawmakers and the White House added billions in new spending and tax breaks that will benefit a handful of specific companies and industries.

The final bill, approved by Congress on Friday, includes $8 billion in unplanned spending specifically requested by President Barack Obama for regional high-speed rail projects, according to administration officials. New language sought by General Motors will save the beleaguered Detroit automaker from paying up to $10 billion in taxes related to its acceptance of federal bailout funds.

Democratic lawmakers from Wisconsin and Indiana helped make buyers of motorcycles and recreational vehicles eligible for a tax credit aimed primarily at automobile and truck purchasers. Officials said the measure will primarily benefit Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson and RV manufacturers in Elkhart, Ind., where Obama held a town hall meeting last week as part of his campaign to push the stimulus.

These and other changes in the final days of negotiations underscore the hectic and often secretive nature of the crafting of the $787 billion package, which barreled through Congress in three weeks. The White House announced Saturday that Obama will sign it into law Tuesday.

I don’t think he plans to be in DC very much. The girls have to be there during the week for school, but when there’s no school I think we can expect them all to be going somewhere else. If they go to Chicago every six weeks or so, tht leaves quite a few weekends for Camp David and he did say he thought it would be a great place for the summer (when they’re not in Hawaii).

It’s really a bizarre notion, to completely destroy what’s left of this country for some votes. Wow. But I really can’t accuse the loony left of being stocked with brain power at this point. Nancy Pelosi is a perfect example of the result of a frontal lobotomy.

There is an underling mentality to toss out the “old” and make subservient the new.

Your not dense …it is intentional.

      • no kidding

alexis — With illegals you get cheap labor and cheap labor lowers the wages of Americans vying for the same jobs.

        • AlexisM

Guess what else it does? I live in California. I have Blue Cross for my health insurance. With a $1500 deductible, I pay $1,000 a month. It’s outrageous. And I have no conditions, etc. that would cause it to be that high. And, they have raised it from about $780 to $1,000 in under a year. Yeah, that’s because the illegals are bankrupting California’s health care system. They use the ER as a doctor’s office, don’t pay their bills, have no insurance, etc. This has to stop. It’s vile. I can’t wait to get some decent conservative people in Congress who will finally close the borders. And give Americans back their damned jobs.

    • no kidding

tminu — I thought illegals meant they could not go after American jobs because they were not legally able to work in this country. My head is spinning.

      • AlexisM

The new laws will make anyone who illegally comes to this country legal, with no background check, within 24 hours of their application. In essence anyone can come here, become legal in 24 hours, and take our jobs. I hate the left.

This makes no sense: Obama pushed Congress to vote without reading the bill only to let it sit there for 3 days while he enjoys himself on the long-weekend?
He didn’t even WAIT for the Senate to vote. he took off to “home”, Chicago, because he was soo tired… He had to start grooming himself for Valentine’s dinner and play some basketball and meet his friends ( who are they?? I wonder…)

What a charade… Take a look at these:

The Obamas already in Chicago for Valentine’s weekend

Can you say control freak? He got it into his reptilian brain that he wanted it by a certain time and date and nothing else would suffice. One is either with him or is against him. It is all too eerily familiar.

    Understand what just happened?

An 8 year backlog of frustrated democratic policy initiatives have been bundled up and voted into law in one fell swooop, less than a month after the new President was sworn in. You’re kidding yourself if you think it was all suddenly pulled out of a hat.

The other option would have been to deal with democratic initiatives incrementally, fighting with elected republicans and right-wing media propagandists every inch of the way against a backdrop of a worsening economic crisis.

Instead, democratic leadership have opted to promptly attack the economic crisis itself, using spending for their bundled policy initiatives as their primary weapon.

Brilliant! If this even halfway works, it will go down as one of the most deft moves in American political history.

No the complete wrecking of the American economy was planned from the beginning. Bush started it and your man is going to finish it. Thanks, a lot, Zippy.

    corruption in the liberal utopia
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s home district includes San Francisco.
Star-Kist Tuna’s headquarters are in San Francisco , Pelosi’s home
    district.
Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to
    Pelosi.
Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the
Samoan work force. Paul Pelosi, Nancy ‘s husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist
    stock.
In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25,
Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would
not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition’s.
Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark
to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an ‘economic development credit in American Samoa ‘.
Pelosi has called the Bush Admini! ! stration “CORRUPT”?
How do you spell “HYPOCRISY” ? ?EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD GET THIS E-MAIL.
