No, I'll be just in front of him, or behind him, or in another polling location, pulling the lever for Hillary, but it does suck that our votes will count for very little, if at all.

The only thing in the electoral process more ridiculous than the drawn out primaries is the Electoral College. The combination of these have completely removed the election of possibly the most powerful person in the world from the hands of the people and delivered it to the annointed elite. This is not what democracy was supposed to be.

I, too, agree with Teak. Thank you for your eloquent and honest comment. Gee, I wish I'd said it.

I really think the way we vote in the primaries stinks. I could be in Russia for all the choice I will have by the time VA gets to vote.

Another comment. I remember seeing some info (in this forum, I believe) about voter registration in Texas. The poster indicated that in Texas everybody is registered as an Independent and can vote for either party. Well, this turns out not to be true. The ballot I received this morning is clearly marked with, "I AM A DEMOCRAT AND I CANNOT VOTE IN ANY OTHER PARTY'S PRIMARY".

My absentee ballot from Texas arrived this morning and it has already been marked for Hillary and put in the mail (Texas primary March 4). This ballot arrived just in time too because I was getting ready to vote on-line for Hillary as a member of Democrats Abroad in the Global Primary -- but of course you arn't allowed to vote in two primaries and I thought it best to stick with my own state. The Global primary for Americans abroad is brand new this year. I hope it doesn't cause any confusion for people who might not know what to do and therefore don't get to vote or have their votes annulled.

I voted for Clinton this morning, and it was, to me, a historic occasion, voting for a candidate who might be the first female President of the Untied States.

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

No matter what happens, it felt right, justice.

BTW, it's very very difficult to understand how we're being manipulated, sometimes. The more we think we know something, the less we actually do. When we hurl emotional epithets, infused with rage, someone is pulling our chain, we accuse others of what we're guilty of ourselves, or we do to others what others are doing to us, not understanding.

So you revealed your decision making process, which is very emotionally chaotic, at the mercy of others.

markom ....

surely you jest ... or does irony mean very little to you?

posting david brooks remarks about mandates and health care ... an endorsement of barack's plan ... ignores the fact, that this is the same person who was a major cheerleader for the invasion of iraq. he has strongly defended the continued occupation as well. lets not also forget ... he is a U of Chicago graduate ... the birthplace of the neoconic movement.

just a thought hear ... do you think he might have a sinster reason for supporting a health plan without mandates .... do you think ... huh ... do you?

And I hope you look forward to this kind of White House:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/05/opinion/05brooks.html?_r=2&ex=1359954000&en=304c9f392453f458&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=login&oref=slogin

Soon after the Orwellian Clinton administration lost the Democratic majority all on their own.

I pressed the lever this morning for a honest politician - and it wasn't a Clinton.

i remember watching the clean up on tv and thinking ... who the hell are they kidding ... it cant be safe working and breathing on that pile of rubble. of course, the bush adminstration were quick to minimize and lie about the danger ... to this day, christie todd whittman has yet to come clean about who ordered her to lie.

<em><strong>“American officials in Chad, including the U.S. ambassador, abandoned the U.S. Embassy and fled to the airport for safety.” </strong></em> once again, incidents like this put joe wilson's actions in iraq in sharp perspective.

Thanks for helping us in that time, the way emergency planning was neglected for that day(no safety suits no HAZMAT precautions, etc.) was profoundly inadequate and entirely indicative of the leadership there and in DC.

As for the regulars who read here, the blog's core topics:
<em>"American officials in Chad, including the U.S. ambassador, abandoned the U.S. Embassy and fled to the airport for safety." </em>
