IMHO, both were reflections of our society struggling with similar issues we face today. In many ways, there was more freedom of expression in the 70's and 80's than there is now. "Political correctness" and careful monitoring of one's terminology, so as not to offend, is the rule of public and private discourse. Frankly, a dictionary or list of offensive words would be extremely helpful. No snark intended. Loved the show and it’s spinoff “The Jeffersons”.
