Seems the New York Post is run by racists. Yes sir! They had the audacity to hope that most Americans had a brain and could understand the concept that the recent antics of the U.S. Congress in writing the Porkulos stimulus bill made one think of a chimp gone mad. Here’s the Delonas cartoon sparking all of the outrage on the left:

Well, since Eric Holder says that us whiteys are nothing but cowards, naturally the hidden meaning in this cartoon is a call to murder the black President. Right? Nonsense!! Of course, having read the news over the past two weeks I knew that Barack Obama not only did not write the stimulus bill . . . .hell, he did not even read the bastard. He just signed it. Nobody, to the best of my knowledge, ever suggested the chimp was capable of writing or signing its name.

Now here’s the problem I have with the crazed left.

They ain’t consistent. The politically correct asses were silent when folks described Bush as a monkey. Well, that’s not true. They actually led the cheerleading declaring Bush to be a simian creature. See, you can call Bush chimpy, the chimpster, monkey boy, but you cannot call Barack chimpy, the chimpster, or monkey boy. Tell you what, if it is fine for Bush it ought to be fine for Obama.

Here’s my suggestion to Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the rest of the race baiters–SHUT THE FUCK UP AND BUY A SENSE OF HUMOR.

The only group who ought to feel insulted by the Delonas cartoon in the New York post are chimpanzees. Can you think of anything more insulting than to have your image be used to illustrate the base nature of a member of Congress?

“The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that “Now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill.”

My first thought when I saw this cartoon was that, the author was saying, even this chimpanzee, humanized as it had been by its owner, could have written a better ‘stimulus’ bill than Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts in the House. But now that it’s dead, someone else equally skilled will have to write the next legislation. (I also thought about that old math theory positing that, given enough monkeys and typewriters, one could produce Shakespeare.)

My black son, who supported HRC, couldn’t wait to tell me that, my white landlady – she voted for BO – thought the cartoon was racist. I called to explain my take on the work. Then, I bemoaned the fact that, white liberals are so sensitive as to detect racism where none exists but, not so liberal that, they would treat BO like any other candidate by examining whether he is qualified to hold office.

As much as it pains me to do so, I’m going to have to disagree on several points.

1) Stimulus package definitely implies they’re talking about having shot a politician to death. So, which one? No one person in congress can take credit for having written the whole thing (God knows it’s a grab bag of crap from damn near everyone in BOTH parties). Are they saying they’ve shot all of them? Don’t think so. Obama OWNS the stimulus package; there is NO ONE else it could possibly be referring to.

2) In none of those comparisons between Bush and chimps is there the implication of assassinating him. It is illegal to suggest so. This is not because he’s a “special” person (let’s not go there) but because we don’t want our country to be unstable, like say a banana republic. The office of president helps to convey the idea of continuity and stability. The POTUS puts a face on the US.

3) Sharpton has nothing to do with this apart from sticking his nose in it. It’s a straw man B.S. thing to point to him. I came to the same damn conclusion after only hearing about the cartoon alone and I am not African American nor particularly liberal.

Which is not to say people like Sharpton can’t be a PITA. Sure they can. And the Post has a right to publish whatever it likes and face the consequences. Secret Service should be all over this: it’s propagating the same meme we heard in Palin rallies last year.

Larry is dead on. As a former cartoonist I can tell you that the artist meant to portray the monkey-brains in Congress – not Obama.

I understand what you’re saying, but it happens to everyone. Was one of the few times I felt sorry for Shrub was when he actually said something useful and (because he usually doesn’t) it was misinterpreted and not effective.

While I appreciate that you’re not responsible for what other people think, when we put things out there for the public to read (like my post above where, naturally, the reaction is implied that I “see things that aren’t there” as a possibility), I have to recognize that communication involves other people and they bring their own experiences, moods, etc. to the situation.

Some extreme examples involve translation, where car manufacturers were puzzled as to why their latest model sold far below expectations in Central and South America. Finally, someone found out why. Because “Nova” can be interpreted as “it doesn’t go” (if you read it “no va” in Spanish). Wasn’t their fault they named the car after a beautiful astronomical heavenly body and it was misinterpreted, but it happened.

As for the topic at hand, I’m thinking of things like the recent documentary showing how some Americans are crying because the “country is ruined” because a black man was elected president. Further, I remember the failed assassination plot against FDR for putting forth the New Deal. Is it then “wrong” to be sensitive to things that could be interpreted as shooting the president?

I know some people are blinded by their dislike over Hillary losing. I voted for her in the primary. I gave money to her campaign. I went to a benefit to try to help her retire her debt.

But I think it’s a huge mistake, given how close we are to economic disaster, to sit around and only gripe in a non-constructive manner. Not saying that applies to everyone here or anyone specifically. I’d let each of us look at our own behavior and decide for ourselves if that’s what we do.

But losing this man in this way would be disastrous. Not because he’s The Savior. I don’t believe that. But because A) our psychology is so bad now I wonder what the effect would be of such a cynical thing happening would be and B) we need continuity. While I think Hillary (please, Lord, not Biden) could step in and do a bang up job, she could not undo the damage caused by another horrible incident on the national level.

Anyway, thanks to all who engaged me on this. Glad I now understand what the author’s intended.

I am assuming this cartoon is in response to the chimpanzee that was shot by the police in Connecticut yesterday after mauling a person? If that is the case, it sure is a far reach for anyone to think the chimp was being associated with the president. I think the cartoon was just inferring that the whole stimulus package was crazy and hair-brained enough to be written by the chimp – who was reported to have been a VERY gifted chimpanzee before he went berzerk. Good god…. This is going to be a LONG term. We are going to be tip toeing and walking on eggs for way too long…

There is no way most people will not be sick and tired of him and all the crap that goes with him by the end of his term, if not sooner. For some time now the left has been given carte blanche to ridicule and trash conservatives, especially black conservatives, often to the point of vulgarity. As a conservative, this is something that I’ve learned to ignore rather than getting enraged at the obvious double standard. It’s a lot easier on my serenity to laugh at such petty jabs. Happily, I get a better laugh when the left writhes in the agony of exagerated victimhood over the most minor of slights. They do carry on!

Seems to me the only Cowards I’m seeing are the ones who keep playing the race card looking for an easy way out in responsibility.

Really, I am sick of their reverse racism. That is probably why they figured having Obama as pres would hurt their long term efforts.

We know people have prejudices. My dark Italian heritage husband experienced it big time living in the Seattle area. He wasn’t blonde or Nordic looking.

But in particular with blacks history here in the US, we know the history, our country has accepted blame for such poor behaviors and know that like with many other races or cultures there are still racists. But we have given special attention in this country to help minorities of which the Black community has benefited. And I just want to ask, when are they going to stop looking for a easy way out to play victim of racism and when are they ever going to grow up, get over it and move on? If everyone in this world held on to something wronged to a race, culture, religion or country like this, how could anyone ever move on and grow? Germany, Japan, France, Jewish, Catholics, COME ON? Eric Holder is right about Americans being cowards about racism. Why are non-blacks the only ones being accused of racism? It should go both ways–at anyone who makes a decision according to race–like AA’s overwhelmingly voting for BO just because they have totally claimed him to be of their race. They have discounted the fact that he is half-white. It is about time that the likes of Sharpton are called on this. They never fussed when aother American (W) was called a chimp. In this particular instance, the chimp in the cartoon was not intimated to be AA. The post above correctly points this out. Everyone has the right to be judged by the same standards. If Obama screws up (as he has admitted) then he should accept the consequences as well.

When Obama or his crony regime are criticized it’s racism and bigotry, but it’s welcomed, applauded and considered intellect prowess to deride Bush, Palin, and/or any prominent Republican.

Holder’s remark stunned me…nation of cowards?

I had an immediate recollection of one my two closest friends in graduate school telling me she wouldn’t come to my swanky grad party because she didn’t like the rest of our classmates and that she was sending her sister (who I’d never met) instead so someone there would be black. I kid you not. I was so utterly taken aback, never saw it coming. We had been close friends, shared details and been open to one another, studied late-late into the nights together, talked about race and racism ALOT!

I couldn’t believe she, after 3 years of trust and caring friendship, thought she was my “token” black friend. My initial reaction was that she was joking, but she wasn’t. My next reaction was how can you feel this way/why do you feel this way…what did I ever do? “Oh no” she replied, “You’ve never done said or acted in any way that made me feel like that, its just the way it really is and you don’t know it.”

After a lot of pleading with her to understand that I was her friend because of who she was, I finally gave up. And I was pretty angry about that. Three years of trillions of happy, sad, supportive, etc. moments together being best friends having been reduced to some lame, pathetic, self serving lie that I was racist for being friends with her in the first place, ended it for me. Happily, that was not the end of many other friendships but it did happen.

Holder is of the same ilk I think.

Indeed I’ve been so angry at this.. If you haven’t read this article Politico had a stern story about it (surprising from Politico) which would make you even more
pissed at him for having nothing other than his reelection in mind since Nov. 4 (imo that is why he chose Rick Warren!).

I’ll tell you when I heard about this cartoon [and this is the first time I saw it], I thought: Oh God, the gates of Hell are going to open again. Obviously, the NY Post said, who frigging cares? This what we have to say and we’re going to say it.

Hey, I can buy into that. If you’ll notice it’s always the same howlers that come out of the woodwork–the Al Sharptons, the Jessie Jacksons, the community at large with a chip on their shoulder.

Why?

It’s pretty hard to claim racist attitudes and policies now that we have a AA President. The whole racist meme has burned itself out and the people and public figures who made a cottage industry out of it are up a creek, as they say. The NY Post gave these same people a small window of opportunity. But it’s very small.

For me, the whole meme burned out completely during the primaries when I heard the Clintons accused of racism, and then had friends and family accuse me of racism simply because I was not an Obama supporter.

The whole charge is old and stale. It doesn’t work anymore. So the victimization industry better find something else. Because they’re quickly becoming dinosaurs.

I suspect, in fact, I hope, that one of the positive consequences of Obama’s election will be the loss by hypocritical race pimps like Sharpton and Jackson of the ability to influence through the power of so-called “white guilt.”

With a majority of Americans across racial lines electing a black man as Presidnet–indeed, one who portrayed himself as being from a broken home due to his father abandoning him as a child–the concept that blacks still have some sort of “ceiling” that they must break through is going to be increasingly dismissed, along with the financial shakedown attempts that normally accompany such assertions.
The race pimps are going to be challenged with the facts: Black men and women have been Secretary of State, National Security Advisor, Attorney General, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Supreme Court Justices, and now a black man has been freely elected to what many consider the most powerful single position on the planet. The killer question for any race pimp foolish enough to bring up the subject of reparations will be, “How much of a reparation does the President deserve?”

I have seen blacks my entire life who take no shit and ask no quarter as they go about making themselves succesful. Some have deferred to the race pimps and have lived with the consequence of people wondering whether they succeeded by merit or by accomodation, which must be a humilating experience for anyone with an ounce of self-respect. I think that those days may be coming to an end, and I suspect that it will blacks themselves who bear the lion’s share of ending them. Race pimps may find “Yes we can” translates to “Get the fuck out of my way” for those who are not willing to wait around for the next race-based quota.

This reminds me of the uproar over the Jugenlander ‘Mohammed and the 70 virgins cartoons’ a few years ago.

The newspaper was bombarded with threats of terrorism, violence, bloodshed and they were eventually forced to apologize.

I am genuinely concerned that it may become a ‘crime’ to do or say anything AA’s construe as racism.

My own inadvertent governor, Patterson, made it his top priority to immediately sign a bill making noose displays a felony as his first act in office.
I would not have minded if he’d also made homophobic, sexist, anti-semitic displays punishable as felonies but he didn’t.

The irony is he based the bill on the Columbia U incident a few years back where an AA professor charged that nooses had been hung on her office door.
It was later discovered she’d hung them there herself.

I read this morning that Sharpton is calling for Rupert Murdoch to be jailed over this cartoon. Furthermore, the WSJ had an op-ed on how the Durbin conference in April also covers slavery reparations. I guess “I won” isn’t enough for this crowd.

This really is crazy. I think people who see racism themselves have a problem–the racial version of homophobia (protesting too much).

Having said that I don’t think the cartoon is that funny or clever, but racist it sure isn’t.

I agree Larry with everything you said. I saw this cartoon the first day it was posted and thought that about explains it. The whole country has gone mad. The stimulus bill needed to be shot down, but wasn’t. I associated it with the chimp that went beserk and the comparrison to what’s going on. I actually thought of Pelosi, she was the first image that popped into my mind and her ilk for writing the stimulus bill. Not Obama. And not their personal deaths either, but the killing of this bill.

I hate the political correct insanity of the left, and I’m supposedly a member of the “left”, LOL. I try to point to woman decapitated and a hundred people descend upon me to point out that I have to work to make sure this doesn’t reflect badly on Muslims.

Now we have another mutilated woman that will hopefully survive, who is also thrown to the bottom of the political pile while some idiot cartoonist mocks the tragedy, Peta defends the ape, and Sharpton screams racism.

I’m getting so sick of Holder, Sharpton et al. Obama wouldn’t be President without huge numbers of white people voting for him.

This chimp was not even Obama–it was our brilliant Congress.

And Holder, I’m sorry, that is not the way to start talking to the whole country–with an insult. I don’t believe I’m the only white person who had a bad reaction to his approach.

BTW, when will Obama ever go back to the WH to actually do some work? Or will he just stay in campaign mode for 4 yrs?

As as AA female Hillary supporter I tried to inform others by writing on as many blogs as possible that the JJJr, JJ, Clyburn, Lewis, etc AA types knew exactly what they were doing in playing the race card.
When they did it massively during the SC state primary, it saved Obama’s campaign. Without the SC “win” he would have been toast and would have had to pull out of the race. Hillary was leading with 65% of the black vote before they began the race-baiting against the Clintons. I told my sister who was also a Hillary supporter that the strategy would succeed if Hillary and Bill did not forcefully refute it. She said that no one would believe that lie. I was right, she was wrong. These racial tactics will be used forever as long as whites continue to vote for the recipients of the strategy. Power has gone to their heads and they are drunk with it. They discarded MLK’s premise that a person should be judged by the content of their character not the color of their skin. For this I truly despise them.

I called Bush a baboon many times, and if Obama starts acting like a baboon, I’ll call him a baboon too.

The protest makes Obama look weak. If he sits down at a summit with Putin, can Putin get into Obama’s head with racial innuendos? “Watermelon is in season, would you like a slice, Mr. President?” Obama’s blood pressure spikes, his head throbs, he can’t concentrate, he screws up the negotiations. Is it that easy to knock him off his game?

Once I was eating a banana and some white guys pointed and laughed at me. I just shook my head like they were subhuman idiots and went on eating my banana. I enjoyed the angry look on their faces when they realized my disdain for them.

If Obama is psychologically vunerable to racism, he’d better let Hillary handle the big boys.

But I still think the toon was moronic for making light of a police shooting, especially in New York.
