An Affair To Remember – Open Thread

On the day President Obama gives his first State of the Union speech, it seems only fitting to take a another look at the Media’s righteous love affair with him.
_____

FIRST MEDIA FELL IN LOVE.
In a interview with Howard Kurtz on State of the Union with John King, Media critic Bernard Goldberg faults the media for “slobbering” over President Obama.

_____

THEN MEDIA BECAME ACTIVISTS.
John Zeigler calls out MSNBC and Andrea Mitchell for Media Malpractice in an interview with Morning Joe

_____

THEN MEDIA WENT TO DISNEYLAND.

Just learned that Obama’s “Homeless Woman” from last week’s event was a plant – she’s actually a Real Estate Investor!

  • Tess

This is a brilliant welcome post!
More DUH about “the homeless woman”. It reminded me immediately of “Obama’s Fainting Ladies”.

  • ford

Let me get this right…the BO team needed to plant people in the audience to ask Obama for free stuff…

this might be a funny show on TLC, but I found the “please give me free money, and benefits” very inappropriate for the POTUS…gross, in fact.
The BO team is completely out of touch with a large segment of the American people, it is difficult for me to believe anything the MSM says.

Did you see how pissed off Mika was at the end of that clip?

O/T Fox is running this story. How much corruption has to come out of the Obama administration before we boot these fools out???

True test of their love? when the teleprompter breaks down.

Thank you Linda and Susan for the open thread. I just read on MSN home page that we are giving 900 million to Gaza to help rebuild. This is on top of the 20 million we are giving them for food and whatever when the UN cut off the food because Hamas was taking it, and it is on top of the 20.9 million for opening our borders and taking in people from Gaza on our dime and setting them up here. I have read these two last stories on posts left here, so have no link, but the 900 million story was out last night and all day yesterday. My question is where are we going to get the money? Where is all the money coming from for all these things That One wants? Who’s going to pay? I’m simply appalled and discouraged. Who’s going to have enough money to save at this rate?

  • Sassy

An affair to remember suggests that it is over…I wish!
Bo has secured a blank check for virtually every government program that socialists dreamed of, and many of the people are SO ready for their share!
Are we still American citizens or are we subjects of the Crown?

    Obama’s Test: A Nation of Santelli’s

When CNBC’s Rick Santelli argued last week that President Barack Obama’s mortgage bailout plan would force hardworking Americans to pay for their neighbors’ mistakes, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs dismissed him as a know-nothing derivatives trader out of touch with Main Street.

But if the White House simply dismisses Santelli’s point, it may do so at its peril: A Rasmussen poll released Monday found that 55 percent of those surveyed thought federal mortgage subsidies to those most at risk of losing their homes would be “rewarding bad behavior.”

Santelli’s “Network”-style diatribe has already spawned a Facebook group and plans for “tea parties” protesting the bailout in major cities including Chicago and Washington.

    It’s not just Republicans, either.

Speaking of Republicans, Michael Steele is contemplating withholding funds for the 3 StoogesRINO’s who voted FOR the Stimulus.

  • Tess

As long as it’s an Open Thread: I read that the bigdeal “protests” over the Post’s chimpanzee cartoon are meant to distract from Eric Holder’s “nation of cowards” rant.
And somewhere I read that the new Dep’t of Energy Sec., you know the Nobel Prize Winner, didn’t know that Opec was in his aegis.
And while I’m here, what’s the point of writing to Congress? All that happens is a cheery “Thanks for writing” response. Maybe that’s what happened to the STimBill: they really don’t know how to read.

  • Sassy

I heard this morning that Geithner should resign or at least show up.
Wall Street has a few questions for him…and he did not do very well before Congress!

  • FLDemFem

900 million for Gaza..how much for New Orleans?

  • FLDemFem

I think the worm is starting to turn. Check out this cartoon by Oliphant who came out with some really disgusting cartoons about Hillary and was totally in the tank for Obummer. He has, apparently, seen the light, and it’s not the halo around Obummer’s head.

Well , it seems a soldier stationed in Iraq is refusing to take any orders from Obama until he provides original documents to prove he is a natural born citizens…

I can only speak for PA:
why would Steele waste money in support of Specter when Pennsylvania Republicans are determined to vote him out of office? Thank God Steele has some smarts…

  • Docelder

Well just as the kool-aid is beginning to wear off… let’s not forget that there’s more kool-aid where that kool-aid came from. Remember this from the campaign season?

I’m not sure if I want to support parties punishing people for the votes. Even though I think they should have voted no, we cannot start thuggery to make people vote a certain way. Maybe in this case I like it, but whatabout another situation. This is not how democracy works.

  • Docelder

Everything coming out of the far left is a “production” anymore. Almost like Hollywood has possessed them. Nothing is for real, it is all manufactured as photo-op or a sound byte. I am not sure how this will end, but am beginning to think it might not end peacefully, if at all.

  • Doc99

It’s time to revisit Geithner’s qualifications. Of course if we had real journalists instead of Obots …

  • Katmoon

    Exactly

  • barry bums a ciggie

It’s like the show Let’s Make a Deal where Monty goes into the audience to ask if they have something trivial and then gives them money in exchange. In Bobo’s case, his staff goes around asking if anyone wants a house, an increase in welfare checks, etc. to give their stories on camera.

I’m waiting for the prez to say (just like Oprah), “and you get a house! and you get a house! and you get a house!”

  • Sassy

One source reported that New Orleans has not used as much of 2/3rds. of the money already designated for their rebuilding effort.
That is also why they are not receiving exceptional amounts from the stimulus package.
Jindal is swimming against the tide in that democratic swamp!

  • Tricia Spiegel

No Quarter had been pointing out everything Bernie Goldberg says now for many months–way earlier when we could have had Hillary Clinton as President if only people would have listened.

  • Linda Anselmi

    Agree with you Tricia
    - I did a speed read through Goldberg’s book. It pretty much recapped everything that was pointed out and documented on NQ. That he put it in book form now, I can’t help wondering at the motive? I would have been more impressed with Goldberg, if as an insider and a Pulitzer winner, he had pointed how to stop the media from being activist instead of doing there job – informing the citizenry. Zeigiler at least called MSNBC and Andrea Mitchel on the carpet for their actions on Morning Joe for their deliberate use of missinformation.

  • Diana L. C.

That’s why this post is so bitter sweet. Most of us KNOW this information, have for a long time. It makes us want to wring the necks of those smug idiots who thought their own judegement, based on nothing but tingles up their legs, was better than the judgement of people who actually read things. I get furious.

Then, I just calm down and remember to wait quietly and patiently for my “told you so” moment with each and every one of the smug people I know personally.

  • Tess

Jindal may be swimming against the tide in N’Awlins but it’s important to remember he’s a Creationist.

  • EWard

Thanks for sharing the Oliphant cartoon!

  • Linda C.

Didn’t the media slobber over Dubya. If was just a “liberal elite thing”, then we would have had Kerry as president. My take is that the medial is blatantly incompetent. Instead of reporting the news, they like to weave stories that fit a predetermined theme.
