Live-Blogging Barack (UPDATE!)

UPDATE: Nocturnal Warrior’s show begins at 10:30 p.m. ET — wander on over! You can still watch Barack (who was rather late), and Nocturnal Warrior, who’s starting (I’m nearly sure) on time!

If you are able to watch — i.e., if you can stomach it — do post your impressions here ….
You’ll also notice that both Truthteller and I provided you with “primers” on the speech.

Truthteller’s post is dripping with irony. Do check it out.

And note the promo for Nocturnal Warrior’s post-speech live radio show at No Quarter Radio. Many of our radio hosts, and others, are calling in. YOU should call in too! The phone number is there for you. You may also send Warrior an e-mail question or comment. His e-mail address is at the top of the middle column, along with the call-in number and the direct link to his show.

Barack is late. Meeechelle just came in.

  • Clara Barton

Very warm reception for Justice Ginsberg.

Now, MMMEEEEshell entered in her plum dress. I may have to rethink watching this.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

A purple dress … ah, the color of royalty.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I thought the same thing…surprised there’s no tiara.

      • bayareavoter

        and Barney the lovable dinosaur

        • trixta

I have the TV on mute with only the captions to read so that I won’t have to hear that mind- numbing voice of His. Oh, yeah and I’m sipping on a chilled Martini to ease the pain.

Just thirty seconds into it and I feel like b–ch sapping Pelosi’s phony smile off her face! What in the h—l is she wearing! Haven’t seen what Michelle is wearing yet, but that should be fun.

          • http://firefox AnnieCollier

            Chilled Martini…why didn’t I think ahead?

            • trixta

Cheers, AnnieC! A little vodka always makes the medicine go down …

        • Sally

Do you mean Barney Franks the Congressional Page molester/sexual harasser? He actually did it with them unlike the republican that just wrote about it. That was in the 80s…now he elevated his game to screw the American people out of Billion by colluding with Fannie and freddie Mac. What a bunch of upstanding citizens.

      • TeakwoodKite

she was getting used to the “royal treatment” from the WH kithen I saw on TV.

      • Docelder

Our first queen of the oligarchy. We are witnessing history. ;)

      • Elsie

No not royalty..when I was in college, I worked in a department store and the buyer told me, it is a color that black folks want..It is not being racist, but surely it is a color that they gravitate to. Just like there are styles of shoes or pants or what not that black folks prefer and white folks don’t

        • BlueTopaz

Purple is one of my fav. colors and I’m pastey-white.

      • S – Angeltour

yes, a sleeveless purple dress in the freezing february weather of washington dc at an event that requires a bit more proper protocol…

sleeves, or a jacket, would be a no brainer…at least she did not wear bright, loud flowers made from the curtains…

        • sandi78

Just what I thought. Does this woman have no idea about appropriate clothing? Is there nobody with the balls to tell her she looks stupid in a sleeveless dress at that event?

    • granny

Did anyone notice Justice Thomas pushing ahead of Justice Ginsberg? Incredibly rude. And doesn’t the lady in purple realize it’s winter. We all have been told/shown her “fabulous guns”, but she still knows jack about style.

  • http://budwhite.wordpress.com/ Bud White

    Can’t stomach it

    • Andy

Neither can I Bud. I just hate his “lecturing style”. It’s insulting he talks down to us as if we were idiots or children…

So glad Truthteller and you Bud are here!! Missed you guys.

    • TeakwoodKite

Hey Bud I was trying to log into your site and no can do. :(

      • http://budwhite.wordpress.com/ Bud White

I’m not blogging right now. But I sincerely appreciate the thought.

        • Andy

          I miss your writings Bud.

    • Andy

Neither can I Bud… His lecturing style is just too insulting to me.

I have the TV mute b/c I wanted to see HRC. G’d why isn’t she, the real thing, the one talking to us?

    • pm317

      I am watching House.

      • beebop

        Me, too !!!!!

        • FLDemFem

          Me three!!

        • pm317

          And then “Chopped” at 10..

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

    HILLARY!!!!!!!! In power red!!!!!

    • Clara Barton

She looks great tonight, doesn’t she!

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

        Unlike Nazi in putrid green.

    • elise

I couldn’t watch him so I missed Hillary too. It sure would be good to have just the part where she is shown on video. The rest of the Democratic has gone crazy. Something in the water I guess. I remember something from the Bible to the effect, by your deeds you are known and since I’ve heard all his words, I’m just waiting for the deeds.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Do any of you have any brandy for my coffee????

    • PuppyDogMom

What kind of brandy do you need?

      • Mandelay

Forget the coffee … go straight to the brandy.

        • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

          HAAAAAA!!!!

I would but i love the flavors together. Perhaps we can use decaf???

          • Mandelay

            Bottoms up!

          • PuppyDogMom

Decaf’s no fun…I’ve discovered that if you add more brandy, it negates the effects of the brandy.

        • trixta

Yes, Susan, join in on Obama’s Happy Hour!

  • HARP

He is not my President, so I don`t care what he says.

  • http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog Truthteller

I refuse to view bad political theater. Hand me a novel.

    • Andy

Truthteller; I am watching the TV mute and it is hilarious to watch how BAD he is at obviously READING the teleprompters….
I also watched how Baraba Boxer caressed Obama’s back as he entered…Gosh can they embarrassed themselves any more?

      • http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog Truthteller

No, they cannot. I am sure Barbara believes the Messiah will rescue her when she will face the voters in 2010. Some say the Governator will run against her.

        • Andy

Really, that would be fun to watch, Arnold vs Boxer: kind of like watching a wrestling match.

HRC looks very thoughtful; I bet she’s thinking, G’d how come this clown is there instead of me? Tough for her, I bet…

          • http://firefox AnnieCollier

            I know that’s what I’m thinking…

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Neither she or Nazi can keep their hands off of him. Truly nauseating.

    • TeakwoodKite

I am readin John Updikes’ “Terrorist”

        • beebop

Maybe you should find a wonderful book and translate it? That’s the kind of task that might help.

    • trixta

Truthteller, how about a movie instead, for example, BEING THERE, where Chauncey Gardner is Obama (or vice versa)! Here is a memorable scene on the economy from that movie:

Pres. “Bobby”: Mr. Gardner [i.e. OBAMA], [...] do you think that we can stimulate growth through temporary incentives?

      C. Gardener: As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden. [...] In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.

Mr. Rand: I think what our insightful young friend is saying is that we welcome the inevitable seasons of nature, but we’re upset by the seasons of our economy.
      [....]

      C. Gardener: Yes! There will be growth in the spring!

Pres. “Bobby”: Hm. Well, Mr. Gardner, I must admit that is one of the most refreshing and optimistic statements I’ve heard in a very, very long time. [...] I admire your good, solid sense. That’s precisely what we lack on Capitol Hill.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Yes, comparing Bama to “Being There”, Chauncey Gardner is right on. He is good at speaking in circles.

        • trixta

He’s also good at walking on water.

  • Clara Barton

Everyone is tingling all over himself/herself as he enters the chamber. I can’t watch. It will be all I can do to listen to the voice for 50 minutes.

Must have killed him to hear that Bill was telling him he’d better get hopeful.

    • FLDemFem

They were also “twittering” through the whole speech!! And the Repubs were taking some delight in the trouble they were having with the Teleprompters.
      http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/02/24/members-of-congress-twitter-through-obamas-big-speech/#more-41526

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah, began sending tweets from the House chamber nearly two hours before the speech, commenting on the staffers assigned to set up the president’s teleprompters.

“One tele-prompter appears broken. Still 1.5 hours to go but I bet they are nervous,” he wrote from the seventh row of the chamber, where he said he was sitting next to Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona.

Some were reminding their twitter audience about more important stuff..like sports..

“Aggie basketball game is about to start on espn2 for those of you that aren’t going to bother watching pelosi smirk for the next hour,” read a tweet on Texas Rep. Joe Barton’s page, referring to Texas A&M’s game against Nebraska.

Minutes later, that message disappeared, replaced with the disclaimer: “Disregard that last tweet from a staffer.

And some of them sent out warnings.

And though many twittering Republicans cheered the new President as he entered the chamber, they weren’t necessarily fans of Obama’s speech. “Hold onto your wallet America,” Culberson quipped.

Yeah, hold on to them, even if they end up empty.

  • pal3

    gaffe count

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

#1, he didn’t know he was supposed to wait to be introduced by the Speaker of the House so he almost started without her.

      • FranSC

Yes, Annie, that was pretty noticeable when he started prematurely, “Madam Speaker” and she yells out her glowing, nauseating introduction before he embarrasses himself any further. Then he starts again, “Madam Speaker, Mr. Vice President….” confirming his error.

So glad to know I am not by myself in hating every freaking second of this, yet can’t make myself turn to the cooking network or something. It’s kind of like watching a snake – can’t help yourself.

  • Karma

And let the teleprompter tennis match begin!

    • Andy

OOFLOL: he is so obvious it’s absurd. I rathe rhe would be raeding from paper; it would be more dignifying….

      • Andy

        I meant ROFLOL (LOL)

        • TeakwoodKite

No you had it right Andy. OOF (BO) LOL.

          Force? by what means?

  • Concerned Mother

Maybe we should create bingo cards for the next televised speech.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Where are the children??? Come on, they should be there.

yes, TT, this is theater. The jumping to their feet, even from the Republicans who despise and distrust him to the core of their being.

    • Andy

Indeed they should be there. School night? I am sure the MSM and Gibbs will
exploit their absence as “Oh look at the One leading by an example to all families about the importance of sending kids tos chool and go to bed early..blah blah blah”

      It’s all very calculated….

    • FranSC

Susan, I’m glad the children were not there! They are so precious and cute, and I don’t like giving the Obamas credit for anything, including their children.

  • ces

Maybe this is his new energy plan: hot air.

  • Clara Barton

Obama is relishing this attention and all the applause. The commentators on Fox were remarking how slowly he was entering the chamber, “not seeming to be in a hurry” though he’s already running 10-15 minutes late.

  • Clara Barton

There is goes: We will rebuild, we will recover, and we will emerge stronger than before. That’s hopey numero uno.

    • beebop

      sis boom bah … humbug.

  • TeakwoodKite

“Our economy is economy is in crisis…”

Larry was right.. he is clueless.

For all I care they can applude him into the dust bin of history.

    • trixta

“99 problems but an economic crisis ain’t one….”

  • Karma

Pelosi-gasm introducing Obama….and now it looks like she had to bite her lip when he mentioned kids putting back into the envelope the college acceptance letter.

    • Zimee

I was thinking the same thing, about her seeming almost orgasmic

    • Concerned Mother

What would a trust fund baby from Hawaii know about sacrificing and not affording college? Wasn’t his white grandma a banker who paid for everything? Wasn’t his white grandma one of those “rich, white people” who Reverend Wright says runs our culture and society?

  • TeakwoodKite

    Pile up debt? HUH?

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

He’s actually the one who gets a tingle down his leg from the adoration. Good God man, what ego. I think Krishnamurdi said that.

  • Karma

    Isn’t this his stump speech?

    • TeakwoodKite

      Yes.

  • TeakwoodKite

“People bought homes they couldn’t afford.”

    Rezko much? Boneheaded!

    • FLDemFem

Did he mention that it was because he sued the banks on behalf of ACORN?

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

I have to admit that the beginning of this speech is good. It is about sharing responsibility for the spot we are all in. And that is true. We are all partially responsible…. but perhaps together we can learn.

I was telling Larry the other day about my mother who grew up quite poor because her father died in the flu epidemic of 1918. My mother and father did well financially — they weren’t wealthy, but they did alright — but my mother saved every piece of foil, folding it carefullly and placing it in the drawer to use a second time. She saved every morsel of food from every dinner that hadn’t been eaten — and we reheated that food, and ate it until it was all gone. We often ate very simple and austere meals — anything to save money. Because my mother was devoted, wholly, to the Franklin message that a penny saved is a penny earned. It served her well.

    • WhatNow

Will Obama be our shiny example and not use AF-1 unless he absolutely needs to go somewhere, where he can not teleconference?

We need him to be our example of what is proper to do. (Won’t happen cuz he’s entitled and we’re not)

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Why not start small…like turning down the thermostat in the Oval Office to “slightly under hot house tropics”?

    • Seattle Moss

      Susan,
I have been saying for awhile that because the playing field is being decimated world wide the US has the unique opportunity to reinvent itself and emerge stronger than we were before.

      • Docelder

Opportunity… yes. This could be the tipping point to spread freedom and capitalism across the globe. Instead, we got Kaptain Kool-aid.

    • Mandelay

We had a similar family story, Susan. Now that I’m not working and taking care of my Mom, we are going back to those simple meals as well. I go grocery shopping once a week and try to see how much I can lower “the bill.” I think those values are good and this particular time of life in this year seems to be an opportunity to rediscover those values. Just wish I could get rid of the anxiety of wondering if I, like other unemployed folks in their late 50s, will ever work again. I talk with my friends and the anxiety seems to be a shared state among us. I feel even more uneasy with this President at the helm. It was great to see Hillary walk into that chamber. The genuine affection for her from so many of her peers is special.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

        It is scarey. No doubt.

      • sandi78

They really do seem to like her, but why couldn’t they all endorse her in the Primary?

        • FranSC

Right, sandi, I don’t trust that superficial friendly stuff after we know what went down.

  • TeakwoodKite

So the 45 police officer in the town up the road don’t count?

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Oh boy. My $13 on 4/l paycheck…unfortunately, I’m not working.

  • TeakwoodKite

i am watching fox.. must be a Republican motel. I notice Fox is keeping the camera angle tight and I can’t see the Rebups side.

I refuse to let it happen? LOL What is he “Mighty Mouse”

  • Andy

The camera just took a shot of Arlen Specter : boy he looks really pale…

It is very entertaining to occasionally watch without sound; very funny; it is like
    mime theater.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

There he goes again…we inherited….blah, blah.

  • TeakwoodKite

There goes the the thumb and forefinger.

    • Docelder

You know… Pelosi and Axelrod share that hand gesture as well. I have read it is a subliminal gesture to emulate “writing” as in holding a pencil. It is meant to bypass the brains critical thinking, subliminally, saying it’s a point you need to write down. These people are slick… give them that much.

      • PuppyDogMom

The thumb/forefinger pointy thing, I think, was a Bill Clinton trademark. It took the place of pointing.

I can’t watch. Reading the comments is far more entertaining AND informative.

        • Anee

the thumbforefinger thing is soooo annoying, his new annoying gesture is the bouncing fists as he bounds down the stairs off the airplane.

  • queenfisher

I just couldn’t watch, no way — forget it! But I must say I have truly enjoyed watching thru all your eyes. What entertainment! Thanks for torturing yourselves to report.

    • JustMe

      anytime lol

    • TeakwoodKite

      Your welcome. :)

  • TeakwoodKite

    More deal? (new deal?)

    • Docelder

New covenant maybe. He is full of himself and proud of it.

      • TeakwoodKite

        He keeps sayin, “Including me”.

HUH? Is his loan top heavy like mine?

I lost 100k in one week this month in “equity”. Lord I wish I was loaded.

Can’t wait to be an ACORN slumlord.

  • veritas

OMG- Watch Nancy- she’s trying to keep herself from laughing- What a sh*t eating grin on her face- so far she’s the whole show for me-

    • FranSC

veritas, Pelosi is the whole show in more ways than one.

  • Babs

I notice the rhetoric of “create” 3 million jobs in 2 years has become “create or save” those same jobs, with nary a missed beat. Slick, this guy, very slick.

    • Concerned Mother

I noticed this create or save BS last week. It’s BS. I can’t believe people buy this shit.

      • termo

        Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

        Wake me when it’s over.

    • Andy

So is it back down to 3 million? It was 2 then 3 then 4 the 3.5 now back to 3..
“save or create”: the guy hedges everything in his life. I wonder how long it took him to commit to Michelle.

      • http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog Truthteller

A stimulus by definition does not save; it changes. Someone should teach his speechwriters elementary semantics.

        • Seattle Moss

The stimulus bill equals works programs at the expense of the businesses already in operation.

          • Docelder

And it sucks capital from the economy needed by legitimate business to expand and hire people into permanent jobs.

        • Andy

          Truthteller:

Oh, I am sure they know semantics (or maybe not?) I bet they are doing it on purpose because the only way this guy could be where he is was and is by duping the people….

      • connie

the length of time she told him it would

    • I’m a Linda too

Isn’t that pathetic? And Bill Clinton CREATED 22.4 MILLION jobs in his administration.

And, when there are more looking for work, he’s only going to try to save or creat 3 million? Gee, how pathetic and this is leadership? Always selling short.

      • The Real HC

American businesses created 22.4 million jobs during the Clinton administration might be a better way to put it. Unless you mean Clinton added 22.4 million federal jobs.

Save or create is brilliant. I mean how does one even count how many jobs one “saves”? I just saved 150 million jobs right now – love me America, crown me Empress.

  • Babs

I swear if I had a million bucks, I’d give it all to the first hacker who could make those teleprompters start spewing forth Mary Had A Little Lamb right about now. Sorry, getting dizzy with all the head jerks back and forth.

    • termo

      LOL

Better. How about an Andrew Dice Clay version Mary Had Little Lamb.

This guy’s only skill is reading speeches. His missed his called as a commercial voice-over.

And wat the hell is Nancy Pelosi constantly smiling at?

      • FranSC

termo, Pelosi is smiling because she knows she is the most powerful person in this country right now, and she knows she made this all happen. She even talked him into running when he and Michelle were still saying, ‘it’s too early to run for president’. But after you hear the likes of Nelson Mandella telling you, ‘now IS your time’or whatever his version of ‘the urgency of now’ was, that is pretty heady stuff for an ambitious guy like BO. Much to my sorrow and regret it worked.

    • termo

      LOL

Renewable energy accounts for 5-10% now
Obama wants to double that number.

    • Karma

Great Enron and Bush worked over CA’s energy and now Obama is going to have a go at us.

Does it bother anyone that they seem to be having such a good time when the country is falling apart? They are just so proud of themselves- What fun!

    • Concerned Mother

Michelle Obama should wear cheaper clothes. Whose payin for those clothes? Taypayers?

      • cathnealon

        concerned
It seems that the fashion designers and the fashion industry is giving her ‘free’ stuff worth tens of thousands. Her inauguartion dress was 6,000 given to her. All of this is a conflict of interest and reflects the Imelda Marcos and Eva Peron model but that doesn’t seem to bother the MSM who certainly didn’t give Palin a pass on her 150,000 wardrobe that she returned.

        • trixta

Actually, I like what MO is wearing, although she seems to have a thing about always showing her biceps.

        • FLDemFem

Didn’t Nancy Reagan get in trouble for doing exactly that? First Ladies aren’t supposed to take freebies over a certain value, I think the limit is $150. That pretty much covers the sort of gifts they might get from admirers when doing the FL tours and such. And isn’t she supposed to be doing stuff for military families? Seems all she has been doing is going around to all the agencies and giving speeches on behalf of Obummer. When is she going to start helping military families? The families of the wounded need help a lot more than the government employees need to take time out of their schedules to applaud MEchelle.

Would be nice to have some of what’s in the Kool-aid… without having to actually drink the Kool-aid. Oh well, I guess Chris Matthews is tingling again.

    • Karma

Did you catch them trying to blame the deficit solely on the Reps?

The Dems voted on those budgets too!

      • sandi78

Sshh. You’re not supposed to remember that…along with Obama being one of the Dems that did nothing about any of it.

  • Andy

I CAN’T STAND PELOSI !! her face and cheerleading attitude looks SOOOOO unprofessional….

    • beebop

Looks like she has a boy crush.

  • Babs

Nancy must have usurped Michelle’s dressmaker. What is that horrible shapeless thing she has on? Pea soup green is not her color. Sorry to be snarky, I can’t stand this woman.

He doesn’t plan on leaving… I have a gut feeling of that.

      • Benjamin

Hopefully he will get tired of his new toys – Air Force and Marine One – after four years.

  • Benjamin

Speech sounds like the same old crap to me. Did you notice Pelosi’s attempt to give Biden a standing ovation? Ridiculous. And I couldn’t help but notice those two sitting on their hands when Obama commented on charter schools.

GOP’s Jindal calls Obama’s plan “irresponsible”

Watch this guy; he’s probably the strongest contender in 2012 and will give the

    • Andy

Jindal was AWFUL actually !!!!!! Couldn’t watch much of him.

Question. Why waste all this air time and expense of keeping the lights on late?

Why not just say, “I’m going to fix, basically, everything so gimmie an Amen and let’s party!”

You must not have observed Obama too much. He always uses TWO teleprompters, so he can turn his head from side to side. Watch Pelosi – she’s keeping an eye on one of them.

      • JustMe

she presses the button to stop it when the crowd roars !!! My goodness give me strength…..

Obviously you do know WHAT is a teleprompter. I suggest you look it up and learn about them before making such foolish statements again….

Let me help you. Look here and scroll down until you see a picture on the left of Bush giving one of his SotU speeches: read what it says below the picture.

  • Babs

They just had a great shot of Hillary. She looks tired, no wonder, but beautiful in what looks like cerise. God, I could still weep at what should have been.

    • Karma

She does look great. Nice suit too.

  • Disgusted

Does anyone besides me think that Pelosi looks simple? That grin is the grin of an idiot.

  • Babs

I think the teleprompters are transparent rectangles, when they take a shot of the podium from far away you should be able to see them if you look carefully. Watch his eyes, that tells you right away he’s reading from a teleprompter. They never roam, they’re always fixated on one side of the stage or the other, always the same place.

    • catherine

Oh if only there were a glitch in the teleprompters so the jackass can start tripping over himself like he’s done before.

    QUESTION:

Do all Presidents shake men’s hands and kiss the women?? Or is it just this one?

    • Docelder

Waiting for someone to faint in his presence.

    • WhatNow

I noticed that he hugged and kissed a young female – reminded me of the hugs and kisses Clinton would give Monica in public. He did hug several other male members but not the same way.

Female intuition tells me that the young lady in question will be appearing again.

  • TeakwoodKite

There was no buildup to the end?

Why do I feel cheated? No specifics.

Reform mantra? Private accounts for SS?

  • Benjamin

I heard jeering from the republican side when Obama said there was no pork/earmarks in the stimulus bill.

    • TeakwoodKite

Benjamin I heard the boo, very un kool. LOL

  • Babs

Andy, would you prefer he kiss the men and shake hands with the women? Just kidding! He is a touchy-feely guy, I noticed that about him during the primaries. Just imagine all those tingly feelings running down (up?) peoples’ legs tonight. Too bad Chrissy couldn’t be there.

  • danny

What did Obama mean when he said “the check is on the way” is that the same as a late bill payer saying “the check is in the mail”?!

If Obama is serious about helping the people of this country WE should give the money directly to the people to pay for thier mortgages. NOT TO THE BANKS!!!

If we pay off homes then all that money is freed up to go shopping for the home that is now owned.

Do not give money to banks – they have screwed this country royally and will only make the situation worse by protecting themselves with the peoples hard earned dollars.

In effect that one woman who said that if Obama is elected he’ll pay for our mortgages should be RIGHT. It’s probably the best thing to do.

      Grass Roots Employees

Isn’t “grassroots” and “employee” completely different things? What they mean is “Astro turf Employees”. That would be it.

      • beebop

        Does it sound like ACORN?

    • FLDemFem

Sounds like an old ad for the Obummer machine. I googled the website that the email is at, and got this.

Established in 1984 in Rocky River, Ohio as an executive recruiting firm, founder, president and CEO, Don Stallard applied his military background (Air Force and Air Force Reserves) and personnel and business experience to create Stallard, Schrier and Associates, Inc. When SSA branched out to temporary office staffing, Office Reserves Group was formed. In 1989, ORG became The Reserves Network to reflect the company’s expansion into industrial and technical staffing. And so began Don’s battle cry to “Call out The Reserves!”

So it’s an old ad, takes a while for them to take them down sometimes.

Now they’re doing their analyses, how do you analyze nothingness? How do you analyze lie after lie after lie?

  • HARP

Thank God I`m moving to Canada.

    • Docelder

Heck, even an overt socialistic country would be better than this hybrid system we have where the ones who pay don’t even get health care for the trouble of it all. We are going to be paying socialistic taxes before this is done. Trouble is, middle America still will be getting nothing in return.

    • Mountain girl

Harp, where are you moving to in Canada? I was thinking New Zealand.

      • Seattle Moss

In order to immigrate to New Zealand you must have a million dollars in the bank or have a job already set up.

      • HARP

        1 hour drive from Toronto.

  • lark

The symbol of this Democratic spend spend and raise tax later is that school girl from South Carolina who had the attitude of ‘wait and see.’ She said with her body language, ‘when I see it I’ll believe it.’

  • lark

Jindal bombed with his jingle ‘Americans can do anything.’ That is simply not true. He had to say, ‘with God’s help, Americans can do anything.’ So forget about Bobby Jindal, there are no free rides. If you do not commit to doing things through and with the help of God, what you get is what you have now, greed galore.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I agree on Jindal Words were OK but it’s hard to be passionate before a camera without the roar of the crowd. Even with that though, Bama was flat. I couldn’t pay a lot of attention.

    • FLDemFem

In this country, we have separation of church and state, for good reason. It sounds like Gov. Jindal is aware of that. And by the way, most of the founding fathers were Deists..and John Adams famously said that the world would be a better place with no religion at all. Looking around at the misery and death inflicted in the name of God in the history of the world, and especially these days, I tend to agree with him.

    • Seattle Moss

      I agree Lark!
We will recover and retake America based on traditional principles

  • dEMOBRAT

harp-I hope you are not moving to Canada because you no longer want to be an American. I was not for the Obama admin. but I ‘hope’ (ugh) that he does inspire Americans to be proud to be Anericans again.

    • HARP

I have served in the military during Vietnam, worked hard and paid my taxes, volunteered when I could, but I WILL NOT BE part of what is going to happen to this country. As I have said before I wish everyone well but I intend to enjoy my retirement with some measure of sanity.

      • Seattle Moss

        HARP,
        Canada has it own problems!
The worst problem facing Canada is an identity crisis brought about by uncontrolled immigration which has resulted in several countries within a country similar to what’s happening in Europe.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

This is one of the most disturbing issues for me in our country and it seems to be happening everywhere in the world. When we had controlled immigration, there could be assimilation so that cultural integrity was maintained. Yes, we changed as a result of more immigrants according to what they brought from their cultures, but it was a gradual absorption which still allowed an integrated whole. It was truly been a melting pot rather than a “Balkanization”. I am most concerned with the numbers of Islamists here who are determined to undermine our financial system and courts with sharia law. That is not what America is about. Well, that and the drug/gang wars that Mexico has brought. I think this has a lot to do with people losing the purity of their culture all the while attempting to superimpose their values, language (or lack of) on us.

    • termo

“the drug/gang wars that Mexico has brought”

Arizona/Phoenix has become the most dangerous place in this country because of lax security along the borders there. In fact Phoenix is now the kidnapping capital of the country.

And the Governor that made that happen is now the head of the U.S. Homeland Security.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

It was truly been a melting pot

  • French Canadian

We are the second largest country in the world. We have a bunfle of natural ressources and we are only 33 millions people.

“The Government of Canada, in consultation with the provinces, the territories and key stakeholders, establishes an annual range for the number of immigrants who will be admitted into Canada. In the past 10 years, Canada has welcomed, on average, 220,778 immigrants and refugees a year.”

  • French Canadian

I did not watch Obama, I can’t stand to see his face. Did he talk about the 900 millions dollars he was giving to the Palestinians? What an idiot, that will really stimulate the economy. I thought USA was in a financial crisis… I guess not… almost a trilliom dollars to the Palestinians. I cannot believe this. What an asshole!

  • Lessa

I found Obama easier to watch if I picture him in a cheerleading outfit, jumping up and down ranting his “HOPE” cheer..all he needs is some nice purple pompoms to match his wife’s outfit.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

purple to match his lips too…It’s their color.
