The US code says anyone born in the US, with a tiny exception for children of foreign diplomats and others not subject to US jurisdiction, is a citizen at birth, i.e., "natural born."

See my post above -- search the page for "1401."

In United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649, the Supreme Court decided 6-2 that Wong Kim Ark was a citizen by right of his birth in he US under the 14th Amendment. Thus, he did not need to be naturalized; thus, he was a natural-born citizen. You can only become a citizen in two ways: by right of birth (natural-born) or by action of a Federal Court (naturalization). There is no third way.

In addition, the Supreme Court, in a rare display of ideological unity, has made it very clear that they have no interest in defining a third way. In fact, along with the issue of members of Congress serving in offices for which they have voted for increases in salary (Hilary Clinton and many others) it's not entirely clear that the Supreme Court would ever exclude a citizen from being elected no matter where they were born. If Arnold Schwarzenegger ran for President and was elected, it's not clear, under rulings decided over a long period of time by justices of very broad ideological perspectives, who would have standing to bring a complaint. Right or wrong, that just seems to be the way the Court has been leaning for a long time and none of the nine has really been complaining about it.

Your proposals are downright dangerous. Jindal's speech may have been more self-promoting than I'd liked, but I thought he was much on point.

Also, without even having to mention Obama's name, he illustrated why his ideas are fundamentally flawed. I thought it was alright, all in all.

I agree tek!!!! In my humble opinion, Hillary is still head and shoulders above Sarah. I voted McCain/Palin, because I simply could not vote for the fraud Obama, but I believe Palin has to gain more experience to be on Hillary's level. I also agree with more of the ideals of the Democratic Party than the Republican Party, however, I will make my choice based on the individual, not the party.
