What’s the Deal with You and Obama Larry? [Updated]

Ah, another nasty gram. Rather than reply to these individually I thought I’d use this to make the point for all. This is from some clown writing under the name, Hesiod Theogeny:

Or, perhaps the question should be “What’s the deal with you and Hillary?”

You do realize, of course, that by sliming Barack Obama on his supposed association with William Ayers (among other things) you are legitimizing rightwing attacks. Your attacks on Obama are most often linked to by the wackos at Free Republican and rightwing blogs! Doesn’t that make you feel special?

Aside form the fact that the whole Ayers attack is bullshit, Hillary has her OWN Weather Underground problem.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9B00E7D7123CF932A15752C0A9679C8B63

How about posting something on that, Larry?

In any case, I don’t know whether Hillary promised you a job in her administration, or you are just carrying water for your buddies Joe and Valerie Wilson — but this is getting old.

Everyone who reads your stuff knows you are just dumping Hillary’s oppo research on her behalf. Laundering it, if you will. But its not helping Hillary at all. It is only providing help to the wingnuts who are going to attack Obama in the fall campaign.

And the suggestion that Hillary has been vetted and tested is complete bullshit. She has more skeletons in her closet than Pompeii and Herculaneam (sic).

Supposed association? How blindly stupid can a person be? There is an association. He raised funds for Obama, he gave money to Obama, and they served on a board together. You consider that sliming? Bullshit. Sliming entails saying there is a relationship when there isn’t. Obama does not have the luxury of claiming it is not true. He has to explain why it does not matter.

So-called progressives whose panties are in a bunch because I dare question the legitimacy and competence of Obama share much in common with rightwing extremists, who attacked me for defending Valerie Plame Wilson. And lo and behold you now accuse me of opposing Obama because I’m carrying water for Joe and Valerie? How does one respond to something so stupid?

And no, I’m not seeking a job with any Administration. Got it? I make too much money and have too much fun doing what I want. Call me selfish. Working in Government is a royal pain in the ass. Been there, done that.

The big difference between Hillary and Obama is this–we know what Hillary’s problems and vulnerabilities are. They have been on prominent display in rightwing world for years. But Obama is a black hole. He has obscured and downplayed his questionable relationships.

My point is very simple. Get those facts out on the table now, on his terms. Otherwise, the Republicans will be more than happy to do so in the fall.

UPDATE: An Obama supporter, Banquo’s Ghost, posted the following comment–“The tenor and content of much of the posting on this website, ironically, closely resembles the tenor and content of the rightist Hillary-Hater media.”

You want to bet on that? That is complete, utter horseshit. I defy anyone to find a website that matches the trash and garbage peddled by Robert Morrow, a bastard in Texas who lives and breathes Hillary hate. (Note, I will not post a link to his site. I normally won’t give him the time of day). WARNING–Even though I’m just posting his subject headings you will still want to take a shower. Morrow writes:

CHELSEA IS PROBABY THE SEED OF WEBB HUBBELL, NOT BILL CLINTON

HILLARY AND BILL WERE DIVORCED FROM THE DAY THEY WERE MARRIED

BILL IS A RAPIST, PERVERT AND SERIAL SEXUAL PREDATOR;

HILLARY HAS COVERED FOR BILL EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

VINCE FOSTER WAS HILLARY’S LOVER AND EMOTIONAL HUSBAND

HILLARY WAS SCREWING BOTH OF HER LAW PARNERS FOSTER & HUBBELL

HILLARY IS A LESBIAN … MORE PRECISELY, A BISEXUAL

HILLARY IS PROBABLY HAVING A LESBIAN AFFAIR

WITH HER AIDE HUMA ABEDIN

I THINK HILLARY IS HER SUGAR MOMMA AND HUMA ABEDIN IS HER LOVELY LESBIAN LOLLIPOP

HILLARY HELP TO COVER UP BILL‘S RAPE OF JUANITA BROADDRICK (4-25-78)

WE’VE HAD ENOUGH “EXPERIENCE” WITH HILLARY; CLINTON BLACK OPERATIONS MUST STOP

HILLARY TREATS PEOPLE LIKE DIRT LIKE THEY ARE “INVISIBLE”

Please forward this information to your Democratic friends and co-workers and ask that they (and you) vote for and support John Edwards, Barack OBAMA, Bill Richardson or any other Democratic candidate, and NOT Hillary. The difference is Hillary will break your kneecap to get to the White House; the others will not.

So don’t tell me we are like the rightwing sites. That is beyond intellectually dishonest.  The highly personal, scurrilous attacks on Hillary, Bill and Chelsea are awful.  No other family has been subjected to such calumny.  To equate challenging Barack’s associations with a business partner facing Federal corruption charges, a college professor who bombed US government targets, and a professor with ties to the PLO as being on par with the sliming of Hillary is bizarre.  Wake up.

Hi Larry, is there any truth to this? Thanks LU

Talisman Gate: Obama-Achui? Direct connection for Obama with Saddam’s money laundering weapons dealing right hand man?

When I first saw the names Barack Obama, Tony Rezko and Nadhmi Auchi a
week ago in some random newspaper report, I was sure that some
reporter would extrapolate these connections further to include the
name “Saddam Hussein”. Well, I guess I expected too much from the
American press, and it fell to The Times (UK) to spell out the
    obvious.
    UPDATE 2:

    According to The Times (UK):

The Times has, however, discovered state documents in Illinois
recording that Fintrade Services, a Panamanian company, lent money to
Mr Obama’s fundraiser in May 2005.

Fintrade’s directors include Ibtisam Auchi, the name of Mr Auchi’s
wife. Mr Auchi’s spokespeople declined to respond to a question about
whether he was linked to this business.

But according to this Middle Eastern business site that had profiled
Auchi’s General Mediterranean Holding Company, Nadhmi Auchi himself is
directly associated with Fintrade Services of Panama! That means that
there’s a direct money trail between Barack Obama and Nadhmi Auchi!

    This is huge!

    Look, it’s hard to believe that Obama is tainted with Auchi’s money;
how would he even consider running for the presidency while knowing
that something like this lurks in the closet? But this doesn’t look
good at all, and Obama needs to explain that this has nothing to do
    with his views on Iraq.

  • BJ

    Larry,

Keep telling the truth! They just think it’s hell!

Thanks for all you do. Have really enjoyed your blog for a long time.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Go get ‘em, Larry! And keep telling the truth. If the ‘droids can’t stand it, too f–king bad. Just wait until the Republicans use it against Obama if, god almighty, we get stuck with him as the unvetted nominee (unvetted, except for a few souls like you + some efforts by ABC News, NBC, the Chicago newspapers (who I always feel know a hell of a lot more than they dare say), etc.

  • kenoshaMarge

Always love the bit about someone that supports and/or endorses Hillary Clinton looking for a job in a Clinton Administration.

Whereas supporters/endorsers and most of Left Blogostan that shills for Obama 24/7 do it only because they are pure of heart and believe that “he is the one”. What absolute drivel!

  • Mike Howell

    Larry –

    Soldier on – PLEASE!

Some of the idiots like Claire McCaskill who are supporting Urkle Hussein Obama are just in this for what they have been promised.

McCaskill Urkle supporter was a Prosecutor who divorced her husband when he got busted smoking dope on a casino riverboat. Her greedy run for Governor cost the state of Missouri a popular Democrat and friend of the little guy – Governor Holden.

McCaskill lost big and Roy Blunt’s son Matt who had zero experience handily beat her, thus becoming the youngest Governor.

McCaskill’s ex-husband was found shot to death in a car just on the other side of the state line in Kansas when she ran for the Senate. Kathleen Sebelius was Attorney General runing for Governor in Kansas at the time.

Of course by then, McCaskill had already married a wealthy Republican with a bunch of nursing homes that were always being sued.

So now you have McCaskill and Sebelius being promised the moon and acting like groupies for Urkle.

They are jealous greedy women who don’t like having a strong smart woman like Senator Clinton getting the spotlight.

I’ve seen this despicable behavior in business for years.

So when I read the constant anti-Clinton crap all I think is what a jealous loser the writer is.

Urkle Hussein Obama – the Charlatan from Chicago – is wrong for this country.

Please continue to rail against the corrupt Daley machine Larry!

    Your country needs you.

    • Palomino

I’m no Obamabot, but Gov. Sebelius of Kansas is my mother’s cousin, and the daughter of my mother’s uncle, former Gov. John Gilligan of Ohio. I know the family, and they are fine people. Any suggestion that Gov. Sebelius had anything at all to do with anyone’s murder is slanderous nonsense. There are plenty of good reasons to oppose Obama, but your idiocy should not be one of them.

      • Mike Howell

I didn’t suggest that she had anything to do with a murder. I’m suggesting that she was promised something from Urkle Hussein Obama.

        • Mike Howell

          Palomino –

Why would such a fine person – your words no mine – be such an outspoken advocate of someone who solicited a mansion from a slumlord?

You’re the idiot for thinking I was calling her a murderer. If I thought that she was a murderer I would have said so. I just think she’s been promised a position and the rumor is V.P. for her and A.G. for McCaskill.

          • chris

            here here

      • chris

Strange Reading Comprehension….You read into Mike Howell’s words. He didn’t say that, nor was it insinuated, from my reading. I don’t have a stake, opinion, or much knowledge of the McCaskill background, so you guys can argue facts.

But Mike Howell didn’t write what you just said.

    • Arnlod

Funny. Obama has links to William Ayers from the W.U. Yet he’s a cog in the Daley machine. Do you know anything sir or madame horse? The Daley machine was a prime target for W.U. for it was the epitome of pig nation.

Now, Larry. All those folks from the Weather Underground have done their time in prison and reformed themselves. Rudd is a freakin math teacher in New Mexico (scaarryyy!!!) Bernardine Dohrn is a law professor at Northwestern (of all things!). So what if Ayers is a fundraiser. It doesn’t mean that Obama wants to smash the bourgeoisie state and “Bring the War Home”. Get over it.

      • nene

Tell it to the Republicans and their media mouthpieces.

  • Lorelynn

I think calling Obama “Urkle” is a bit – a big bit – beyond acceptable. While I am interested in your information, I’d encourage you to step back from that curb. There is a time and place for being meticulously in one’s language and this is one of those times.

    • http://NoQuarterUSA.net Larry Johnson

I’ve done my own share of juvenile name calling in the past. I agree with you it is over the top. But on things like this I’ll leave it to folks to censor themselves.

      • http://joyhollywood.blogspot.com Connie L

Larry, you are saying what you’re saying because you realize that Hillary is the better candidate but Obama is winning the contest. After having the most god awful president the last 7 years you know the country needs the most competent candidate and Hillary is that person. I am scared to death of anymore bad presidents in todays problems here and in the world. The media has always been unfair to Hillary and President Clinton and frankly I don’t know why. Is it that the press knows that Bill and Hillary are smarter than them thus they don’t give them fair press?

    • Mike Howell

      Lorelynn –

Sorry if I interrupted your doily ironing with my post. Do you ever venture outside the glass menagerie? Urkle was a geek on a sitcom. If that offends you I don’t know how you venture out in the real world. Muchless read the internet.

    • Hope

      Loralynn(sp)

Okay we’ll call him Buckwheat honey and then you can really sanctimoniously bitch! Would that make you happy?

      • simon

        No, no.

Buckwheat was the name William Russ’s character gave to Vinnie, on Wiseguy.

Unless you mean “Buckwheat”, of “O’Teh” fame.

        Oh, THAT Buckwheat.

        • Hope

          Yeah :-)

  • Sometime-CIA-Defender

    Another great reply.

As for the Wilson issue, I just want to add, again, as Joe himself has said, this was not about the personal attacks on the Wilsons, never was. While that issue itself was shameful, it was to be expected.

What it IS about is a group of people so unethical, so greedy, so un-American, that they would even destroy a network that was there to PROTECT the American people from WMDs just to have their war. The Downing Street Memos make this abundantly clear; they were concerned about the legality of invading Iraq and looked for any and all excuses in order to do so. They even suggested to the British that painting “UN” on the side of a plane and provoking Hussein into shooting it down might be necessary. Have to give the Brits credit for talking whichever wacko was responsible for that out of that weak Gulf-of-Tonkin tactic.

Add to this the possibility that some portion of what Sibel Edmonds believes to be true actually is, and we have recipe for coming disaster on our hands that, in my opinion TRUMPS any and all other issues. (But some might say that I’m a bit selfish—I live and work in NYC, love it, and have no desire to see it vaporized by a Saudi, Libyan nor Pakistani nuke in the hands of radical extremists).

So, next, I have to ask myself who is more likely to pursue and investigate Edmonds’ and her ex-co-workers assertions? McCain? I know it’s not going to win me any popularity contests here, but I’d say there’s a 25% chance he actually would. Though he’s playing to his base, he has many enemies who would suffer from the investigation (I believe) and, well, like him or not, he has on occasion done what he thought was right, against the will of his party.

But I’d put Clintons much, much higher, more like 75%. Obama is the wild card for me. Between Rezko, Auchi, and his softness (not agreement! I don’t believe he’s 100% in support of it) on the pardoning of Libby, I just don’t know where he really stands on it. Couple that with his “reach across the aisle” message, and it’s really murky.

I am under the impression that many of his supporters think all that is necessary to “fix” America is for him to be elected. I am glad there are people so optimistic; optimism is good. But I don’t think that comes anywhere near what needs to be done to ensure that the US is safe (as safe as is to be expected) from this kind of thing. Some people say that Americans want to move on from Iraq and 9/11. I don’t believe that: I think we want CLOSURE, and that’s not the same thing.

Finally, the idea that, just becuase the Guardian is not harping every day and the US MSM has not picked up and carried the Edmonds story does not mean there’s nothing to it. We don’t know, because, as far as we know, it’s never been pursued. Watergate was considered a small deal, one that would pass, be forgotten, etc. and we know where that went (actual motives for that aside).

  • kenoshaMarge

Off topic but knowing how enraged you were about the pinheads at dkos wondered if anyone else had seen this post at the Bradblog. Seems kos and some of his pals have had so much fun attacking other liberals that they went after the Bradblog too.

    http://www.bradblog.com/?p=5702#more-5702

    • Sometime-CIA-Defender

Brad is absolutely correct about the old machines we use. I feel much safer using them than the newer, questionable devices we see both touted and villified in other states.

However, on Super Tuesday, I had to use a paper ballot because the machines were down. I heard from friends that they were back up later in the day.

Let me tell you that, if it’s true about the 80 precincts, I am both surprised and impressed. It appears as though New Yorkers want a bit more than hyperbole in their candidate. :)

    • chris

Yeah I noticed that. I was trying to find some info the other day about DKos and wound up at Brad’s page. We don’t know each other directly much, but Brad and I are in similar radio backgrounds. And he’s a guy who calls it like he sees it. That will get him into trouble with the illusionbasedfreakswhomuststayasleep. (sorry couldn’t come up with a convenient Sanksrit word for that)….

So now that Brad has challenged the Kossacks he must go too. He must be forced to face the consequences of his rebellion from the horde.

Maybe we should hear him and Larry chat a bit.

  • TeakWoodKite

The hope and dreams theme has become a “seperate reality”. The greater the despair the more the momentum and desire for “change”.
When Mr.Johnson calls a thing by it’s proper name he is accused of running a covert op.

What is truth is percieved as false flag in this “seperate reality”.

I am concerned that Barak Obama appears to have been “reqruited” out of Harvard to work in tandum with Rezko and associates. To what extent this was known or unknown to Sen. Obama are still unanswered questions. Eit

    • TeakWoodKite

Eit Either way the answer is extremely problematic and deserve a sober review.

Thanks Mr Johnson for your persistence.

    • Nellie

      I agree Teak

    • Jess Wonderin

True – it under scores either a lack of awareness or the desire to achieve quick connections . . . either case a distrubing character flaw.

Just visited Hesiod’s house. As I was crossing the threshold, I wiped my muddy boots on a custom made doormat with the Kos seal that said, “And ye shall conceal the Truth, and this Subterfuge shall make the public say, WTF,O? when the President is elected on false pretenses.”

Kinda made me nostalgic for the good old days at Hqs.

  • Herschel Greenspan

The Clintons must love the Weather Underground. Bill pardoned two of these dangerous terrorists:

    Susan Rosenberg:

The most controversial local case involves Susan L. Rosenberg, a former member of the Weather Underground who had been denied parole in a New Jersey explosives and weapons case because of charges brought against her in the 1981 armed robbery of a Brink’s armored car. That heist left two police officers and a security guard dead.

    Linda Evans:

The sentence of another convict associated with both Ms. Rosenberg and the Brink’s robbery, Linda Sue Evans, was also commuted by Mr. Clinton. In 1990, Ms. Evans was sentenced in United States District Court in Washington to five years in prison for conspiracy and malicious destruction in connection with eight bombings between 1983 and 1985, including one at the Capitol. Ms. Rosenberg and Mr. Blunk had been brought up on the same charges. At the time, Ms. Evans had already been sentenced to 40 years in prison for using false identification to buy firearms and harboring a fugitive.

    • Nellie

You know it is amazing how you cult members can not stay focused on a subject – oh – wait a minute THAT is one of the predominent symptoms of cult members- sorry

If you read the link in the main part of Larry’s Post, sent in by another one of your cult members, it states that Susan Rosenberg had done FULL sentence for her activities as a weatherman and HAD never had a trial for the Brinks Robbery.

Are you guys adopting the Cheney/Bush definition of “Guility” which is because I said so?

      • Nellie

Linda Sue Evans reached a plea agreement and was sentenced in 1990, after already serving at least tw years in jail. Therefore she served a minum of 12 years by the time she received a pardon.

Unless you idiots can come up with something more substatial, than persons freed after a decade or more in jail, for which you give no circumstances of what occured within that decade, go elsewher with your slime.

AND,You have not PROVED exactly how Hillary ahd anything to do with this.

        • Herschel Greenspan

Hey Hillary is using her experience in the White House as an asset. She has to take the good with the bad. That is politics baby deal with it.

          • TeakWoodKite

            baby ???

          • chris

What is Politics? Driving by with a presumptive smear, no substance, and then ending with a snear, “baby”?

Aristotle would whip your ass for saying “That is Politics”
            http://classics.mit.edu/Aristotle/politics.html

        • Cee

          Nellie,

Ayers should never have been brought up. See what happens?
Now you made me go look this crap up. Tell me that the GOP won’t be using this against Bill and Hillary.

Convicted terrorist Susan Rosenberg(http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1806)was pardoned by Bill Clinton in January 2001, just days after Clinton left office. She was serving out the 16th year of a 58-year sentence for the possession of more than 700 pounds of explosives and a stockpile of illicit weapons.

Moreover, the onetime member of a leftist terrorist outfit called “The Family” was also a suspect in a 1981 robbery-gone-awry that left three people dead in Nyack, New York. She was involved with several terrorist groups in 1970s and early 1980s, including the Black Liberation Army, the Weather Underground.

In an attempt to win over New York’s Latino voters, Bill Clinton pardoned 16 members of the FALN, a violent Puerto Rican nationalist group who had planted over 130 bombs in the U.S., that killed six people and injured 70 in New York City and Chicago.

The Latino vote (http://www.puertorico-herald.org/issues/vol4n45/Hilary-en.shtml) lead Hillary to victory which many believe those pardon helped seal enough votes to secure the victory.

      • CK

Only if Leonard Peltier is involved.

        • simon

leonard peltier: the reason David Geffen took against the Clintons, Clinton didn’t pardon Peltier as Geffen requested, Peltier murdered two federal agents, correct?

      • Herschel Greenspan

Rosenberg was sentenced to 58 years for terrorist activity. She got oout beacuse the big dog that don’t hunt pardoned her.

        • Nellie

Rosenberg had already served 16 years in Jail for what were activities of what may be determined as her youth.

Evans had already seved 15 years in jail, but a GUY caught and charged at the same time as Evans, was released after 12 years.

In January 2000, Hillay was campaigning for Senator in NY, and not in DC.

So other than proving Misogyny was alive and well through the 80′s and 90′s – you have not connected anything important.

However, since you seem to be such a law and order guy, seems like your cult leader had a problem with drugs, back in the 80′s. I believe there are mandatory sentences for that – So when is he going to start doing time?

          • Herschel Greenspan

Right after the big dog that don’t hunt does his time for smoking errr… but not inhaling pot.

            • Jess Wonderin

              such a pisher . . .

          • Cee

you have not connected anything important.

            Nellie,

Neither have the many people on this blog who keep bringing up Rezko.

You bringing Obama having a problem with drugs is the same tactic.
            Are you related to Sheehan?

      • Herschel Greenspan

My cult is better than your cult. Better yet, my cult leader has more votes and delegates than your cult leader.

    • Cee

The Clintons must love the Weather Underground. Bill pardoned two of these dangerous terrorists:

      Hersh,

      Glass houses. HUGE STONES.

I keep telling them. They won’t listen.

  • Mr.Murder

Obama campaigned to split the Democrats and side with the republicans.

That’s why he used right wing talking points and reinforced previous anti Hillary bluster by showing such an attitude to her.

His first big move on a national stage was taking a Senior position at an ivy League paper. He got it by splitting the liberal readership and staff, and siding with republicans, including several future Bushco. apparatachiks. He gave them a voice beyond their numbers on the staff, and wider influence than the institution’s enrollment could have perhaps merited for the conservative viewpoint.

It’s in his history. it’s how he operates. Square one.

Elections in Chicago, drumming up support against Democrats as office scandals conveniently emerge on rivals to his side, and courting the right wing vote in the wake of that to abate opponents.

That’s why the right wing radio chatter heads are saying they don;t support McCain. They can co-opt the Democrats with the stealth candidate. Then when votes get made about that, they’ve split the online activists(already done). We’re facing soured another generation on participation, the boomers seeing their standards like Social Security disavowed. When the new ranks get burned, and we’re back to square one on “all sides are dirty, just vote for who you’d rather have a Pabst with” and Nader will emerge from his self interested nest to proselytize the disavowed.

Just remember, we don’t need to criticize John McCain, just try to work with the Republicans(who have done record vetos). So much for calling them out so we can have the real change we need. Let’s call out Hillary instead?

    • Hope

      Mr. Murder,

Interesting how people fall for it every time. You make some very good points. Thanks.

      • simon

Interesting how people fall for it every time. You make some very good points. Thanks.

The difference being though, people are catching on to the licorice of Rove, and Obama, and are tired of it.

To write the whole thing off is a hasty generalization, you’re basing your conclusions on limited information.

I wouldn’t write it off, contrary to what you see, I see a nascent move away from the Obama’s and the Rove’s, a need to get back to truth.

Neither Rove nor Obama are smart men, neither have intellectual depth.

So who feeds the American imagination?

We’re facing having soured another generation on participation, the boomers seeing their standards like Social Security disavowed.

      That’s a win-win for the GOP.

Record vetos from AWOL, record filibusters from the GOP. These are the guys Obama says we should work with. Perhaps it’s our fault the Republicans are such an impediment, someone needs to work with the other side. The low hanging fruit theory is, well, it’s fruity.

Obama’s people are doing their best to resurrect the right wing by having the talking points against Hillary renewed. They are carrying the Fox network water against the Clintons. What the Obama supporters fail to recognize is that once the Clintons are gone, the talking points they fertilized to remove her will suddenly pull the Democrats asunder. This will destroy much of the platform itself, or allow it to be diluted and co-opted.

Trying to credit Obama with the voter turnout because of his personality is a bit of a reach too. Buscho. is motivating people to get active by bad example. Robbing the people their own political capital by assuming icon status, he’ll sell it off to the GOP in the name of bipartisanship. Just like his mentor Joe Lieberman trained him to do.

Yeah, this isn’t anything like politics as usual.

“But Obama has skipped 19 of 37 VA committee meetings in the 109th. congress. … “Providing the best care for our service members, veterans and their …”

Yes, basically Obama’s “Movement” is based on a fundamental “appeal to popularity” argument. If everyone is getting behind Obama for change…then he must be about change. Classic flawed reasoning at hand there….

And yes its ironic to hear that Clinton supporters are engaged in “rightwing” attacks on Obama, yet nothing about Obama’s crowd using RightWing Talking Points against Clinton.

        I can’t stand a hypocrite.
No Record before her senate seat eh? Then he has no record before his. Lets play this goddamn game right. Can’t have it both ways Obamatons.

Just remember, we don’t need to criticize John McCain, just try to work with the Republicans(who have done record vetos).

      Mr. Murder,

Bill Clinton on Hillary’s Relationship With McCain
      by Choire Sicha | January 25, 2008 |

CHARLESTON, SC—One of Bill Clinton’s talking points this week is just how thick Hillary Clinton and John McCain are.

Today in Spartanburg, he described them as “very close.” And the other night in Myrtle Beach, he called them “good friends,” and said “they like each other.” The topic seems to be coming up relatively often, and unprompted (not to mention that it’s different than the attitude McCain has taken towards Clinton).

Maybe it’s because one of his stumping points is that his wife builds bridges with Republicans. But it also just makes one feel uncomfortable about what life after the conventions might (might!) be like.

Cee: You think President Clinton is an novice? He’s trying to intentionally muddy the waters…
Ask yours self why? Besides what’s the downside?

It sounds cynical, but I just can’t help but think you’re right, Cee.

Oh, and when it comes to dirty politics, I think Obama’s first race, for the Illinois Senate, takes the cake. He bumped his opponents from the ballot by challenging their petition signatures. One of the people bumped was the woman who sponsored his entry into politics.

        Carolyn,

I don’t have problems with legal tactics. I’ve trained people and have I’ve collected signatures and if they aren’t accurate to the spelling they don’t count.

        Simple as that!!

        • http://makethemaccountable.com Carolyn Kay

Yes, but his political mentor? Even he felt he had to apologize for that one.

I lumped this with a different comment, but I think it deserves it’s own space:

“Now, Larry. Get over it.”

Why, of all things, does Ayers get your panties in a bunch? It seems kind of lame, considering your level of intelligence. Or are you just playing Captain America from past agency indoctrination?

  • Banquo’s Ghost

The tenor and content of much of the posting on this website, ironically, closely resembles the tenor and content of the rightist Hillary-Hater media.

      See new addendum above.

  • Banquo’s Ghost

Also, Susan and Larry: if Obama gets the nomination, are you going to support his candidacy, or McCain’s?

    • Lu

I think the point that Susan and Larry are making Mr. Ghost is that Obama is but the poor player strutting and fretting his hour upon the stage — full of sound and fury, signifying ? Nothing! And seriously, there are tons of moderate Democrtes and Independent voters out there that would rather have McCain than “nothing” . I have heard them and met them and their numbers are growing.

    No Quarter:

The candidates of interest for me – Dennis Kucinich and John Edwards – are gone so, what I am asking Larry and contributors here is – how will the next president evolve US counterterrorism practices? The basis for my question follow the precedents discussed in the article below

The link for article below starts with:

    http://www.ctc.usma.edu/

Click on: “Introducing the CTC Sentinel – A New
Journal for Cutting-edge research” and download Issue
    #3 for February 2008.

The article (pg 1) by Richard Clarke and Robert Knake
is entitled: “Counter-Terrorism Issues for the Next
    President”

“…The next president will inherit from the current
    administration a dysfunctional counter-terrorism
apparatus.(1) The U.S. military has been stretched
thin by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the
intelligence community has been discredited by the
lack of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the
ongoing failed hunt for Usama bin Ladin, and the
Department of Homeland Security has so many missions
and so many disparate agencies that it is ineffective. An even more challenging task will be to restore to the United States credibility in the world and to reduce the number of people who bear us ill will…”

I’m traveling tomorrow, but will post on this tomorrow night.

      • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Great! I am really looking forward to that post. I’ve been curious too.

Oh, how I wish you could interview Obama on that, Larry. that’d be so sweet.

        • simon

Larry, and others, are the go to guys ( and gals) here, on this issue, but from what I’ve been reading, for a start, they have to investigate and dry up the money sources, I believe this really is more of a matter for law enforcement, the FBI, and CIA, as opposed to the army, we simply need to know who the real players are in funding and arming terrorists, WHY, something Bush, and Congress seem loathe to investigate for some reason.

Which doesn’t address the military situation in Iraq, certainly, that, now, is another issue, entirely, but in terms of a an eye scan in every airport, total information awareness, no, we have very strong, competent law enforcement.

9.11 happened because Bush deliberately CHOSE to ignore warnings, direct warnings, I hope someday we find out why…

I hope Clinton has the good sense to respect the Constitution first, and foremost, in regard to this issue.

I, too, look forward to reading what Larry writes, tomorrow.

The Ayers matter may be raised by the smear machine. I do think it’s rather amusing Obama sliming the baby boomers and the 1960s, yet he has had association from one of the leading radicals of that era.

There are piles of things the right will hang on Obama, but Ayers by himself isn’t going to do it.

    • alexei

No, just one of many piles.

Karl Rove’s wet-dream is to provoke internecine warfare among Dems.

Cui bono? DUH. That would be Karl “Miss Piggy” Rove. Do we really want Miss Piggy’s dreams to come true?

Blogtopia is a great playground for his agents provocateurs. Dedicated to the fabulous game, “Let’s You and Him Fight.”

    But really, beyond the spin:

Barack = a charming, inexperienced, timid centrist who’s running on hope hype.

Hillary = a charming, planful, very sharp Wonkette, who has been pre-Swiftboated, battle-tested, and has been successfully kicking Republican ass for ever. Karl Rove’s worst nightmare.

    You decide.
