The Fort Worth Star Telegram stated “Perry Richardson Bass, a Texas oilman who turned his riches into philanthropic gold for Fort Worth, the state and the nation….” according to the obituary published in the Star Telegram on 06/02/2006.

WHAT’S MOST IRONIC TO ME: Their rabid anger over these events tells me that, down deep, they are very afraid that their “chosen one” is ripe for a comedown big time. IT’s unbearable to them to contemplate that. So they react to the intense fear they’re feeling, along with that uncomfortable creeping doubt, by lashing out so viciously. It’s a “transference” thing. CBS offered the first of possibly three installments concerning the indictment and conviction of former Governor Don Siegelman of Alabama. But, the spirit of Rove lives!

For, while the rest of the nation saw this piece uninterrupted—as Larisa Alexandrovna points out—a large segment of the Alabama audience strangely did not. This note was posted immediately after the 20 minute blackout of 60 Minutes:

Note that in their haste to have someone at CBS affiliate WHNT Channel 19 cover their tracks, the mispelled ‘technical in the second paragraph. They have since appended that note with this:

“Our sincere apologies to our viewers across the Tennessee Valley.

To correct the problem, we will re-air the broadcast of that segment during NewsChannel 19 at 10 Sunday night.

But, reporter Scott Horton, long on this case, was reportedly told by a CBS News representative in New York that “…there is no delicate way to put this: the WHNT claim is not true. There were no transmission difficulties.”
