Taxi!!

That’s what Nancy Pelosi thinks our Air Force is – her personal taxi service. Yes, the Watchdog group, Judicial Group, has found some mighty information out about Speaker Pelosi’s personal of Air Force personnel and equipment in THIS article. The information obtained was through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Now let me hasten to add that, by all means, the Speaker of the House, third in line of succession to the White House, needs to be able to fly to and from her/his district securely, especially in these dangerous times. BUT – it is the manner in which Speaker Pelosi is treating the Air Force as her personal valet service. And we are paying for it.

Everyone else is cutting back in these difficult times. Speaker Pelosi just makes excuses for her wastefulness. Again, she is entitled to this service, but it is the sense of entitlement with which she uses it that’s the problem: having it on standby and canceling at the last minute (unnecessarily); demanding a certain (most expensive) type of plane; and using it for her family as if it’s the family station wagon, to name a few.

Between this and the Pork House Omnibus Bill Obama is going to sign into law today (and then lecture us on earmarks – spare me already), it is kind of hard to take their “cinch up your belt” rhetoric seriously. Yes, Obama is going to sign the Omnibus Bill with over 8,000 earmarks in it, which he claims he just can’t change because it was written last year. Huh??? He calls it “imperfect,” but he’s signing it anyway!! Um, NEWSFLASH – you can VETO it, Obama!! Just more talking the talk but not getting close to walking the walk from Obama. Big surprise. Hahhaha! Oh, he said in that article that earmarks should receive more scrutiny, but given his wife benefited handsomely from some of HIS earmarks while in IL, there is no way he’s gonna call to abolish them altogether. Anyone who thought he would was just denying reality. Look at his record on it.

So, yeah – all the rest of us need to tighten up our belts, and make some changes. Our elected officials? Not so much. Oh, and Speaker Pelosi? We’re not buying your excuses, either. Stop treating the Air Force like your personal travel service and wasting our money. Obama, do you think you could keep ONE campaign promise?? Like on earmarks? Stop wasting our money already!!

Sheesh. Is it possible that all this time the Republicans have been calling the Democrats “tax and spend” Democrats, they were RIGHT??

    I’m happy to see the media is questioning some of the wasteful actions commited by our elected officials, but I doubt they have the nerve to bring up Obama’s “campaign” trips that he has been making, since he took office. It’s hard to believe that a President needs to go all the way to Denver, just to sign a bill, or that he needs to go to Indiana, just to talk about job loss, and to push his plans. I’ve already had to cinch my belt serveral notches. I wonder when the President is going to do the same.

      Well, Bush was on one of those trips when the terrorists struck on 911.
      Pelosi, Reid and Dean wanted a candidate like Bush and they got one in Obushma er Obama.

    Everytime I see Pelosi on TV, I’m struck by how very odd her appearance and mannerisms are. That wide-eyed look and manic smile, like someone’s goosing her. She also sounds dumb as a box of rocks.

    When Democrats took over the Congress and the Senate I expressed two concerns:

    1. Democrats would make up for lost time and act like children in a toy store.

    2. The future of the Democratic Party was in the hands of Nancy Pelosi.

    As we have seen from these garden variety spending bills (all under assumed named such as Stimulus I, Budget, and now Stimulus II) Democrats are acting like kids in a toy store.

    And as we have seen, Nancy Pelosi is acting like she is President, Emperor, whatever title she prefers – as long as her air taxi is where she wants it and when she wants it.

      Nicely put – they are acting like kids in a toy store (and unfortunately, the Dems are borrowing and spending like there is no tomorrow).

      Can you imagine, though, having the audacity to bitch and complain when the type of jet you want isn’t available, not to mention complaining when your family is getting an almost free ride ON that jet?? Sheesh…

      A close friend of mine could not understand why Pelosi was rejecting Hillary during the primary in favor of Obama — now you know why. She knew she could not get away with this nonsense with Hillary as President.

        Ani, that is just what I was thinking earlier. She couldn’t bear for Hillary to fly in the REAL AF1 while she flew in the AF1 Wannabe. She helped derail the BEST candidate because of her own major power issues which became OUR issue…

    The majority of Americans are losing their savings, retirement, jobs, and their sanity and all the Dems can do is get their revenge and turn the country into some kind of banana republic. Pelosi,Reid, Wrangel and the rest of these hypocrites need to get the hell out of Washington and let people in who want to really serve the people and the Constitution–I’m so sick of this.

    Obama, Pelosi,et all would do well to read up on European history and the French Revolution. It could happen here. They could “lose their heads” so to speak. The american people will take only so much.

      I hope that is true, but whenever I try to get people going for a revolution or for the Tax Tea Party day protests or anything they figure:
      a. I can’t miss work
      b. Someone else will do it
      c. Americans won’t stand for this (I’ll just wait until the rest of the country speaks up)

      Americans have no guts. No guts, no glory.

      I’m telling you, almost all people I know think that someone else is going to do it. Who are these someone elses? I keep wondering how I will do it all alone. I want to drag Obama out by the shirt collar, but I don’t think I alone can get past the secret service!

    A little hypocritical of Nancy to have America’s finest Air Force personnel at her beck and call to ensure her safety when her hometown treats the military with such disdain, i.e. no military recruiters in high schools, no ROTC on the campus at Berkeley. I think the guys who fly her should be awarded hazardous duty pay, must require all kinds of restraint to have to deal with her in a respectful way when she obviously deserves no respect.

      Wow, Babs – thanks for that info. It does seem a bit, um, ironic (read: hypocritical).

      Can you imagine how frustrated the Air Force personnel get when she makes them put one of those planes on standby, they outfit it, then she emails at the last minute and says, “Never mind!” Grrrrrr.

          I agree. It should come out of her House budget. Or her personal budget. Same for her family members only being charged a few hundred dollars for a trip that costs $83,000!

      When Pelosi’s assistant asked for her to have a plane at her disposal on Memorial Day weekend she was told that no plane was available. She said that Pelosi would go ballistic if she couldn’t get a jet. It seems Pelosi goes ballistic quite often and can be heard in one of the Congressional meeting rooms yelling and swearing.

    I wonder if Obama will toss Nancy under the bus in 2010. Would it just be easier for him if she wasn’t around any more – like Dashel. Or will he keep her around to do his job for him?

    I can’t stand Pelosi, but I have no problem with her use of AF planes to travel to her district. Speakers have always done it. This is a republican hit job against her. I have also noticed that everytime Obama goes somewhere, the republicans note that two planes actually travel. Of course, this was also true when Bush went on trips, but it was never discussed. Did anyone complain when Cheney took AF planes on his hunting excurisons? There are tons of things to criticize Obama and Pelosi about, this is not one of them. Let’s hold both parties to a high standard and not try to score cheap points.

      I said, quite clearly, that this is her right, and given issues of National Security, a necessity. What is NOT her right is to treat the AF like her own personal travel agency.

      How is holding her accountable for her grandiose sense of entitlement a “Republican hit job”? It costs a TON of money just to get those planes ready, and you don’t think, with the economic crisis in which we find ourselves, that the Speaker of the House should set a better example???

      It is not s”coring a cheap point” to highlight the wasteful spending of the 3rd highest officer in the land. It is holding our elected officials accountable for how they spend our money.

      Doesn’t sound to me like you want to hold both parties accountable at ALL.

    This is a silly rehashing of a story that has been around ever since Pelosi became speaker. The DoD has already issued a statement saying that the Speaker didn’t request a larger, fancier plane. Instead, the (DoD) forced her to use it since smaller planes didn’t have the range to fly cross country without stopping to refuel.
