Let’s Know More About Obama, Less About Bristol Palin

I don’t know about you, but I could give a good goddamn about Bristol Palin, her baby or her break up with her boyfriend/fiancee. Not my problem. I wish her well but I do not understand why the media feels it imperative to monitor her every move. Here’s what I want–let’s keep track of what the hell Barack Obama is doing. Whoops, I mean, what he is not doing.

Do you realize we know more about Bristol Palin’s school performance and activities at school than we do about Barack Obama? We still do not know what grades he earned in college and whether he even graduated with honors. As I have said before I have not met a single person who graduated Cum Laude (or better) and did not list those accomplishments in their resume or bio. But that is chump change compared to the disaster now unfolding with Barack Obama. He is putting the country at jeopardy.

Here we are almost two months since he took office and virtually none of the top spots at the Department of Treasury are filled. Ed Morrissey over at Hotair nailed this issue the other day:

From that, we know that more than four dozen positions remain unfilled — positions that Geithner has to fill himself. But what about positions that the White House has to appoint? I researched that question this morning, and found the list of positions at Treasury that require White House appointment and Senate confirmation. It’s quite a list:

Secretary
Deputy Secretary
Under Secretary — Domestic Finance
Under Secretary — International Affairs
Under Secretary — Terrorism and Financial Intelligence
Assistant Secretary — Economic Policy
Assistant Secretary — Financial Markets
Assistant Secretary (Deputy Under Secretary) — International Affairs
Assistant Secretary (Deputy Under Secretary) — Legislative Affairs
Assistant Secretary — Management and Chief Financial Officer
Assistant Secretary — Public Affairs/Director — Policy Planning
Assistant Secretary — Tax Policy
Chief Counsel — Internal Revenue Service/Assistant General Counsel for Tax
Commissioner — Internal Revenue (five-year terms of office)
General Counsel
Inspector General
Inspector General — Tax Administration
Treasurer — United States
The White House has responsibility for appointing these 18 positions. Those appointments get handled by the Senate Finance Commitee, which after receiving the formal nominations, has to do background checks and other information gathering to prepare committee members for their hearings. It takes some time to get a nomination from the White House to a confirmation vote, but the clock doesn’t start — it can’t start — until Obama makes each nomination.

How many of these positions has Obama filled with a formal nomination? According to the White House website, this many:

Secretary – Tim Geithner
That’s it. Just the one nomination, for what Barack Obama says is his greatest priority and gives as an excuse for his diplomatic incompetence. And these are just the political appointments that require Senate confirmation. It will take weeks to fill these positions even after the appointments get made, but Obama hasn’t even gotten to Step 1.

This on top of the debacles of Bill Richardson, Tom Daschle, Tim Geithner’s failure to pay taxes and the other failed appointments. Oh, I forgot to mention. The FBI raided the offices yesterday of the guy Obama just named to be his Chief Information Officer of the White House. It seems that one of the guys working for Vivek Kundra, Barack’s new CIO, was taking bribes:

An official in the D.C. government’s office of the chief technology officer has been arrested in a federal bribery sting, according to law enforcement sources. The FBI has raided the technology office this morning and agents are continuing to search for evidence, sources said.

Yusuf Acar, 40, was taken into custody this morning by FBI agents at his home in Northwest Washington, the sources said. The nature of the charges could not be determined. Channing Phillips, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, declined to comment on the arrest, saying the case “is under seal.”

Federal authorities this morning arrested a second person, Sushil Bansal, 41, of Fairfax County, in the sting operation this morning. According to his company’s website, Bansal used to work in the D.C. government and later founded Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation, an information technology consulting firm based in the District. That company has several contracts with D.C. government agencies, including the technology office and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Last August, he was awarded the Association of Indians in America’s Entrepenuer of the Year Award.

Then we get Barack doing the Bush signing statement thing. And there are many other stumbles we could highlight. But why worry about that stupid shit. We must focus on an 18 year old unwed mother in Alaska. That’s what is important. Let’s just close our eyes and pretend Barack is competent.

The latest dumbfounding issue for me is that Obama has spent the past 4+ months talking about the impending “catastrophe” that is the economy. This week, he comes out and says, “It’s not that bad.” How can anyone take this guy seriously?

    • termo

“How can anyone take this guy seriously?”
      (see Daily Kos)

      • Jim S

        You can’t, he’s an idiot!

        Don’t think so? Read this:

Obama signs Law Banning Federal Embryo Research Two Days After Sighing Executive Oder to OK It

        http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=44943

        • Diana

Oh my gosh!!!!! We’re doomed. Doomed I tell you. Is he just signing whatever someone puts in front of him? Unbelievable. Should have known though, during the primaries he was always for something, then he was against it. So now all the people that celebrated their victory for stem cell research are null and void because Obama changed his mind in two days and decided he was against it.

    • nancy sabet

We know more about any member of congress than we know about this fraud,Hussien Obama. You have to be totally blind not to see he does not give a damm to America and American people.

  • Mark – Ft. Lauderdale

    Larry,
Good to see you focus on what is important and skip the MSM BS.

    EMPTYSUIT has been a disaster.

    No leadership.
    No fuc—- job.

    Now no money.

    Thanks.

Wonder how long Hillary will stay? 2 years….

    • Carol HAKA

2 years to fix our international problems before she starts her campaign for President!

      CAROL HAKA

      • RalphfromBoston

        Thank you !
        Hill,
steer clear of everything economic and attached to Obama. Continue to do a good job as SOS, then let’s get behind a wave to get Hillary back in like she was supposed to in 2008 for the good of the country.
Do you think Hillary would have set Pelosi loose ?
        doubt it.
        We will be here waiting…..

      • kinthenorthwest

I am probably one of many who will no longer vote for Hillary is she runs.
I dont think it matters what Obama does she will NOT run against him.

  • Judy L. NC

Well, that sure knocked me out of my Friday afternoon stupor. You really put things into perspective, Larry….good article.

    • Dawnelle

HA!!! @ Bristol Palin breaking up with Levi??? I had no clue.

See I quit watching the MSM months ago. Seems they’ve turned into Entertainment Tonight wannabees.

WE already KNOW what Obambi was doing during his college years. It mostly went up his nose (according to his book).

Amazing he got past the primaries. OH WAIT, he didn’t!

      • jbjd

Thank you. I post occasionally that HRC won more pledged delegates from votes cast in the D primary and people think I am being hyperbolic. No; she won the primary according to the rules in place at the time she won. That’s why the D elite changed the rules. (Well, they didn’t change them as much as they twisted them beyond recognition.)

  • Diana L. C.

Larry, I understand your anger. It’s a crazy superficial world in the media’s eyes. They helped to select this president, so they are now confident that he’s doing a good job and they can concentrate on the fluff since it’s more “fun.”

I am still unable to confront any of my Obot family members and friends. They don’t follow the news and are just confident he’s doing what he should do, so they refuse to listen to what I say or read what I send. One of them is/was concerned ONLY about stem cell research, so she got what SHE wanted. One needed the “buy American” deal, so HE got what HE needed. One was only concerned about the equal pay for equal work, so SHE got what SHE wanted. Those were enought to convince them that O’s indeed THE ONE.

I support their concerns, but I do not support their concentration on ONLY their own issues. I do not udertand their constant excuse–”well all politicians lie”–when I try to point out how he got into office and all the problems with his past and all the things we do not know about him and all the mistakes he’s made. I keep asking them, and they keep refusing to really answer: “Do the ends really justify the means?” It is really o.k. to accept that “all politicians lie” as long as you get the one thing YOU want at this time?

I blame the MSM for their shallowness, but they do cater to a shallow populace–at least that’s my opinion.

    • obamastolemyboyfriend

I get that same, “all politicians lie” arguement. My answer though is that he campained as NOT being that! He was new and fresh and not your same old politican. Be sure to point that out!

    • Allie

ummm…hasn’t he already backtracked on the “Buy American” due to pushback from the EU? And the Lily Ledbetter Act doesn’t mean the end of inequality in pay for women.

What he’s done is what any Democrat would do in office and even less. He floats two sides – calculates his political risk – and then chooses.

But wait – we wimminz got a committeh with good friend and slumlord Valerie Jarrett to talk about wimminz issues for several years on the taxpayers dime.

His answer to everything is a “summit” – meaning committee where it dies a slow death.

  • Illinois_gal

AMEN!! The circus clowns need to do their jobs & report REAL news. Bristol is not trying to run our country. Obama (too tired to do his job) is.

  • http://noliinsipientiuminiuriaspati.blogspot.com/ adagioforstrings

But Bristol Palin had abstinence only education which proves that Christians are evil…no, wait, she had safe sex education but still got pregnant…well damn the facts, full steam ahead with the propaganda, smoke & mirrors & distractions!!!! Hope! Change! Unicorns!

The far left is only concerned that neither her nor mom had an abortion. They can’t conceive that maybe somebody is o.k. with somebody else doing something and at the same time… maybe it’s something you wouldn’t do yourself… but you are still o.k. with the concept… it’s just not for you. They can’t get that for some reason. Therefore, they hate the Palins… maybe for being more tolerant than themselves.

  • Retired

Larry, you are totally wrong on this. Obama is last year’s news, and now that we have elected him, we’re beginning to find out that he’s just as incompetent as his predecessor. How boring!

Bristol Palin is far more interesting. Here’s a teenage girl with a hot mom who has a baby out of wedlock (I really love that term – wedlock) and then breaks up with the hunky but not too bright boyfriend/father of the child. The hot mom is a former beauty queen who also happens to be governor and may run for president in three years, not to mention the fact that the mom just had a baby, herself (although unfortunately within wedlock – love that term!). To top it off, the mom has the nickname “Baracuda.”

The Palin family is soap opera stuff that could compete with Big Love (which, by the way, helps us escape from the reality of the uninteresting and Bush-like Obama). Can you really blame the drama-struck media from turning away from Dr Doom and relentlessly prusuing the promiscuous daughter of a hot governor mom? Come on, now!

Do you really expect people to be interested in a President who reciprocates a thoughtful gift from a close ally with a DVD box set, a Treasury secretary who is a tax dodger, and a State Dept that publically humiliates its cabinet secretary by mistranslating “reset” as “overcharge” in a language as simple as Russian? What’s next, accidentally shipping a nuke to “moderate” Talibaners as a token of good will? Jeez!

    • ughs

“The Palin family is soap opera stuff that could compete with Big Love (which, by the way, helps us escape from the reality of the uninteresting and Bush-like Obama). Can you really blame the drama-struck media from turning away from Dr Doom and relentlessly prusuing the promiscuous daughter of a hot governor mom? YESSSSSS!

    • Diana

Don’t forget a DVD set that is Country Code 1 so they won’t even play in the UK. “Hey, the Browns are coming someone run down to Walmart and pick them up a couple of those box sets. Whatcha mean they got kids? Anyone got 10 bucks on them?”

I dunno sure sounds like those Obama’s are a soap just waiting to happen. ;)

Great post Larry. I think we all knew the chances of them staying together were slim. But, Sarah isn’t in office. Obama is. They did the same thing to Bush’s daughters. Teenagers are going to be teenagers no matter who their mom and dad are.

They’re going to have the same problems the rest of us are going to have. Or do they think these children should stop living once their parents are in the public eye? I remember thinking several times when they were scrutinizing the Bush twins, any parent that stands up and screams about those girls is either dumb or blind, if they think for one second their own teenagers aren’t out there doing something. They have to be allowed to make their own way/learn their own lessons. It’s how they become the person they grow into. All we can do is guide them.

  • Owllwoman

Going after Bristol is just a way to further smear Sarah Palin. They must be very fearfull of her to stoop this low. When I see this pathetic behavior it makes me laugh.

    • http://Godhelpusall lee M

Can’t you see that this is exactly WHY they are going after Bristol Palin? It is to keep us distracted from the disaster that is Barack Obama.
We don’t know where he came from, we don’t know where he’s been – sounds like a old song, doesn’t it? We don’t even have any proof that he is eligible to be POTUS and he is running this country straight into the gound, or below the ground to Hades.

No member of the MSM can take on the job of really reporting the news, so the all turn into “Entertainment Tonight” Sheesh, I’m going to lose my mind. We’ve got to keep pounding on what’s vital to this country and forget the sidetracks.

  • obamastolemyboyfriend

Do you realize we know more about Bristol Palin’s school performance and activities at school than we do about Barack Obama?

This is exactly why I am personally never the same after 2008. I have post traumatic stress disorder from witnessing the double standard in this country.

I despise Obama and will never understand any of this!!!!

    • sybilll

I was wondering if I was the only effected physically. Literally. Say I am overreacting, but, I have not been the same since 11/04/08.

      • Diana

It’s not in your head. A lot of it has to do with the vicious attacks during the primaries. I have a mixed race grandchild. Yet, I was called a racist over and over because I refused to support Obama. When I get upset I can’t eat or sleep. I literally lost 40 pounds during the primaries. Not necessarily a bad thing. I needed to loose some weight. Those middle ages wreak havoc on a woman’s body. Gravity wins.

But, now I’m still loosing weight because I’m upset about the crap we’re now facing. Will my husband have a job tomorrow? Will we loose it all? What if it gets worse and my son in law looses his business? How are they going to support their family? Will we be able to support them too? We’re already supporting my son and his family because he lost his job, and it’s almost impossible right now to find another. All because people wanted to have a historical moment without considering the consequences of electing someone with no experience into office, when we were already in a major crisis.

We needed the experience Hillary brought. I would have been happy with McCain and Palin also. At least McCain had the experience and he isn’t far right. He’s more center like Hillary. McCain nor Palin would have approved all these earmarks when the American people are facing financial crisis already. They would have said first we address the people. Just as Hillary would have done.

  • termo

Why is anyone surprised by the level of incompetance of Obama even at this early stage.

His educational record as you said must be lackluster or it would have been thrown in our faces repeatedly.

He has no governing or management experience anywhere in his 48 years on Earth, so it is no wonder he cannot establish and stick to priorities, cannot exert any influence with Pelosi and Reid, and cannot hire people.

This is not to be meant as a racist statement, but simply a statement of fact based on feed back from people who did vote for him after they tell me why they voted for him. I asked each of these people: “Would you have voted for Obama if he resembled his mother rather than his father?”

Separately, I would look forward to reading your thoughts on a possible use of the military with Mexico after listening to an interview with Senator Webb today who seemed to be making a case based on past precedent.

Thanks Larry. I didn’t realize that there were so many vacancies yet to be filled. So much for the famous Obama vetting process. Yesterday’s arrests by the FBI prove that he ain’t got a clue what he is doing.

Larry has actually been asked to fill the IRS slot but was disqualified after they discovered that he hadn’t cheated on his taxes. The feeling was that a tax cheat over at IRS would take the heat off of the treasury secretary.

By the way, I was looking at Geithner on the tube the other day. Do you think that Brad Dourif will get the movie role? After “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Dune,” he ought to be perfect.

Hello. I, uh, I wanted to uh respond to your question that, uh, you know that my administration and my past were marked with uh, how did you put it, uh you know, corrupt characters. I, uh, am sorry, I, uh, didn’t understand that your question was, you know, uh, serious.

Ha! Fantastic blog! Why isn’t this getting on the front pages of the papers or the leads of the news? This dope is such a preening moron, slow and dim-witted.

  • beachnan

I totally agree Larry. When I saw the story on Bristol Palin, I was astounded that the media is still on this story. They are clueless. I just finished listening to Paula Abeles’ interview with Carl Bernstein, and I am furious. He brushed off every question about Obama, saying the media had vetted him, and tore into Sarah Palin. He did say that he abhored the sexism that was directed at Hillary, but felt that it didn’t impact the outcome of the election. Clueless!!!

    • beebop

Carl Bernstein is irrelevant to today’s political discussion. He was in the right place at the right time and since there was a REPUBLICAN in the WH he was intent on his undoing. That doesn’t make Bernstein a journalist. That makes him an opportunist. What a pig. What a disgrace. What a waste of the oxygen it takes to circulate blood in his system.

    • NoBamaNoWay

what is it about sarah palin that makes leftists come unhinged? i think that a lot of it is ridicule for “hicks” who live in scary “fly-over” country. at the same time i think that there is a lot of fear because she seems to defy their stereotypes and attack attempts, so they’re afraid that somehow she might go mainstream and gain power. also, the fact the she is a republican woman gives them the chance to unleash their misogyny and claim it’s just “anti-republicanism.”

    • Peggy Sue

I listened to that interview with Bernstein when Paula aired it, Beachnan. Good thing you didn’t catch the Evan Thomas interview a week earlier, whose standard answer was “I don’t know” or “don’t have any information on that.” And this, after writing a book on ‘how Obama won the election.’

Bernstein was protecting his own turf. He refused to admit that sexism played “any” part in the primary or that journalistic cheerleading had a “significant” impact on the results.

Then these people wonder why the print news establishment is wobbling on extinction. They’ll never admit their complicity. And at this point, I don’t care. The fourth estate relinquished its duty and responsibility to the public.

They’re all “entertainers” now. And despite Bernstein’s mock outrage over the idea that Jon Stewart is anything but a satirist, the profession of journalism itself has joined the alumni of the national clown college.

Shame on them. Shame on them all!

      • beachnan

I agree Peggy Sue, shame on all of them. I did catch the show with Evans from Newsweek, and I was just as furious listening to that clueless journalist. I’m not sure if these men can comprehend what we are saying. They don’t see what we see and as long as women journalists, i.e., Katie Couric and others, fail to recognize or report what in fact is sexist behavior, then we can’t move forward. I must also say, if one more journalist states that Obama ran a great campaign, and Hillary did not, I am going to scream. Who could have planned a campaign for an opponent who was gaming/cheating the system. If the media and the DNC fail to call him out on his illegitimate gains, then what was Hillary supposed to do. Point in fact, she did win the most votes. GRRRR! I am hoping that the illegitimate campaign Obama ran, will be spoken of, loudly and often in the near future. Even though people, like Bernstein and Evans, want to sweep it under the rug.

  • CG

Perhaps we can get Jon Stewart to start acting on all the items you mentioned LJ, since Jon Stewart’s battle with CNBC is getting a lot of notice nationally. The list of 4 dozen unfilled positions is also related to financial recovery, and since Jon himself is finally taking notice of this financial debacle because of his mother’s own predicament, he should further expose this situation, in order to speak for those among us, like his mother, who will continue to be harmed, by this inaction and distraction. Remember how we were all lectured to over and over again by Obama and his spokespersons that even before Obama won the election in November that he was already putting his administration together, and how he studied past presidencies in order to perfect a transition to be rivaled, ready before day one? There was such arrogance in those days, but now all we hear is the same old apologists before the election defending him now on how hard it is and what wonderful poll numbers Obama enjoys. Obama defenders are always on the look out for a distraction story and it is so pathetic. I too believe we deserve to see all of his academic records now in respect to the issue of transparency Obama touts; remember it was he who demanded of Hillary and McCain that their records be released, and was quite political about it, lots of irony there for Jon Stewart to mock, if he has the courage.

    • termo

“how he studied past presidencies in order to perfect a transition to be rivaled, ready before day one”

The only thing Obama studied was:

      1. How to salute

      2. How to master the teleprompter

      3. How to appear to be in control.

Unfortunately what Obama did not learn after the election was more trivial items such as Economics and how to hire and supervise people.

      • http://helpmejoseph.typepad.com/puma_for_life/ Puma for Life

He needs more practice on that salute…very sloppy.

        • truthorconsequences

The salute was invented by the knights who wore armor. They would lift their hand to raise the face guard in order to see who the were talking to–hence the salute. Maybe Obama is just being cautious? LOL!!

          • Dawnelle

yes and WE do it different than the FRENCH as they show their PALM (I give up)

            our palms are DOWN

            very important

            • Ferd Berfle

It isn’t just the French–the British also show their palm forward (or up).

          • TeakwoodKite

I saw a clip of him MO boarding the chopper, the marine saluted him and he did not even acknowledge the marine, never mind salute him.

            Sick.

            • avwrobel

Actually, he doesn’t have to, nor should he really, return a salute. If memory serves me, it was Reagan who started saluting the guards when jumping off a helicopter or out of a plane. I remember Reagan was asked about it at a press conference since prior presidents had not saluted before like that, and Reagan said something like “Oh I don’t know, I just felt like giving a little salute in return.” He was probably mindful that it would look good on camera, but it isn’t at all required or needed. Now can we get back to what a moron Obambi is?

              • Ferd Berfle

You are correct. Returning a salute is only required of a uniformed officer but not a civilian. However, it is a sign of respect and I think it should be returned.

                • Animal Control

I agree. It’s a polite acknowledgment–Clinton used to do it. No different than nodding to acknowledge someone else’s existence—it’s what thoughtful people do.

                  • TeakwoodKite

If I was POTUS and knew the person would take a bullet for me, I would salute ‘em.

avwrobel, I am not saying he’s required to.
Back to what a moron BO is.

On second thought, If I was the soldier, I might be of the opinion that he is not legally CIC and a salute would be an insult.

        • beebop

OMG. His “salute” looks worse than what a cub scout with ADD would muster … it is an embarrassment to watch.

          • sandi78

I thought one didn’t salute when not in uniform. Have I got that wrong?

            • Ferd Berfle

Soldiers, specifically, are not to salute when not in uniform.

              • beebop

He’s always in uniform. Clueless is the give away.

                • Ferd Berfle

You’re right-he is clueless and disrespectful of our military. I’m certainly glad I didn’t serve under that miscreant (it was bad enough serving under Rumsfeld in the 70s).

  • TeakwoodKite

Awhile back Mr. Johnson you mentioned that if asked you would be willing to assist in “vetting” people for the new admin.

The list you post is un-nerving and the meme of BO being “ready on day one” after having a staff of over 300 people in the “office of transition” is mind numbing.

Please tell me that this is a staffed position and is not left to the abyss?

That’s what they do. They play the misdirection game, talk about anything but Obama. Obfuscated, deny, and change the subject. Good thing Larry is around to keep our eyes on the ball.

      • Ferd Berfle

Yeah, the bot’s new means of diversion when the subject of their slavish devotion is questioned will be b-b-but Bristol….

  • Carol HAKA

Larry – you didn’t mention that the two left in charge and now under arrest are both foreigners – not Americans in this position.

    CAROL HAKA

    • TeakwoodKite

I wondered about this Carol. How does that work?

  • EWard

    Larry

Excellent post! However, I believe that Obama is deliberately doing this. He has an agenda to turn our country and economy upside down. The fact that he wants to address every issue in this country from education, health care, entitlements, security, etc., tells me that there is a method to his madness. He is the problem.

Obama really believes his lies. He’s not for earmarks but signs a bill with 9,000 of them and blames Bush. He’s not going to raise taxes on 95% of Americans and proposes reducing the mortgage interest deduction and raising gasoline/utility rates.

He is going to create new jobs but punishes businesses and people that are responsible for employment. The government is becoming the biggest employer and not the private sector.

The only reason that impeachment is not on the table yet – the MSM is covering up for him.

  • EWard

    Hi Larry.

Can you rescue my post from the cellar?

    Thanks

  • Prem

Thank you, Larry, for writing this post—this is the important information we need to hear about—one of the major reasons I visit this site several times a day. I keep remembering Hillary’s statement that she is “ready on Day One,” but “That One” is not. No truer words were spoken during the primaries.

I still would like to bring a class action suit against the MSM for contributing to the demise of our country’s future by shoving the fraudulent and incompetent “That One” down everyone’s throats which got him elected to the most important job in the world.

    • http://Scout Scout

How about a class action suit against the DNC?

      • Dawnelle

NOW THERE IS SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING!!!!

        I’ll contribute (um next month)

  • Docelder

All those unfilled positions reminds me of the old saying… “he walks fastest who walks alone”. Maybe what we are seeing is a part of the narcissistic belief that he can do or needs to do as much himself and with his inner circle as possible. Or maybe he doesn’t want eighteen more sets of eyes and ears to contend with right now. Maybe he dare not mention at this point just who he really wants for these positions yet. Or, maybe we give him more credit than is due and he’s just not that organized.

  • truthorconsequences

Right on. And Bristol being more important in the eyes of the media, (deaf, blind, and dumb bastards), should , I suppose, have been selected to be prez instead of the one eyed jack from Kenya. So far as his grades are concerned, I would dearly love to know how he was registered when he recieved whatever grades he earned. Did he register as foriegn exchange or American citizen? We know a [private] citizen is going to have a baby that will be American born but we are not allowed to know the origin of our president? Obama’s appointments are vetted but the appontee was not? BULLSHIT!

  • PamFlorida

Isn’t it ironic that team Obama sniffed around Pres. and Secty Clinton, demanding every single detail of their personal and private lives, yet the Clintons emerged without a scratch.
What happened to his brilliant vetting teams and hundreds of lawyers and advisors-the ones who are now on the payroll as his shadow cabinet? Don’t any of them qualify for some of these positions?
Obama has had since the end of August to get his act together concerning potential nominees, foreign policy, economic policy, and domestic issues. Bush gave him unprecedented access to classified and insider information.
Obama has had a 6 month running start to get his administration operating smoothly. Why is he still winging it?

    • truthorconsequences

“Why is he still winging it”? Because that is what a blind duck in a hail storm does.

  • J.J. (The P.U.M.A.)

You people need to stop whining about Obama. We, the PEOPLE of the United States of America do not care about what he does, we care about what he says. He says he is against earmarks. That’s what matters. You negative nabobs of negativism just want to nit pick because after his eloquent speech against earmarks he signed a bill with 8,500. That is so irrelevant. Oh, and by the way. STOP lying about our brave leader. It was not 9,000 earmarks as many of you hacks have been stating on T.V. That’s why you have no credibility. And, those were earmarks left over from Grover Cleveland’s second term. So, they are not Obama’s responsibility.

  • Doc99

Obama ending use of the term Enemy Combatant.

For everyone except Rush Limbaugh, of course.

    • Dawnelle

we will know more about anyone than The One

not just Bama but we know more than anyone watching the MSM about anyone POLITICAL especially if they are DEMS.

the MSM doesn’t talk dirty about their party as they are lemming-borg-party-line-sleep-walkers

      • http://thesibylspeaks.wordpress.com/ Anthony

True. Just like nobody is reporting on the schism in the Dem party, although it’s easy enough to find by googling…

The way the MSM tells it, all is well in the Emerald City..
        What a crock…..

        • Dawnelle

Well that’s because MOST of us X dems were smart enough to LEAVE the party before they started their mantra of “oh they’ll be back, give them time, there are no other options, once a free thinking dem always a free thinking dem”

          roflmao

yea free thinking indeed as long as the free thought streams out of Bambi’s butt mouth!

  • mountainaires

Agreed, Larry. It’s really pathetic. But, I just went over to memeorandum, and nearly the entire page was filled up with Jon Stewart/Jim Cramer bullshit.
I’m as bored by that as I am Bristol Palin, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton.

    • Dawnelle

      ok what happened with them?

I’ve stopped watching Stewart too. Since the WHOLE of TV nation bought the BS on a STICK!

      • Ellen D

With God on his side, Stewart righteously beat up Cramer as the White House cheered.
Apparently Cramer was responsible for the whole Wall Street, Bank, Home Mortgage depression. He did it all by himself. Who knew?

I think Stewart just took a look at his own 401K.

And so little coverage of a new terrorist charge for first bud Bill Ayers … seems too quiet to me …

(03-11) 17:50 PDT SAN FRANCISCO — Leaders of San Francisco’s police officers union have accused Weather Underground co-founder Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, of taking part in the 1970 bombing of a city police station that killed a sergeant.

    • Lyn

Did anyone in the comments ask if this was the same Ayers that babysat Obama’s kids? Since I read a couple comments and they are all the same old same old

  • candymarl

Yes because Bristol Palin and Sarah Palin, are more important than multiple wars, more troops being sent overseas, people losing homes, the Stock Market tanking, a member of Obama’s administration being held without bail by the FBI and billions of unaccounted bailout money.

    Sigh.

  • Katmoon

What is intolerable and shameful is the lapping up of this type of subject matter by the voting public; as long as the public watches and participates in this type of political filth, those damned mediabots will keep using it as an excuse for news. Too bad they don’t hold everyone to the role model demands they place on those chosen as an offering to the Gods of Popularity and Hypocrisy.

  • mountainaires

Enough about Bristol Palin! Here’s the more interesting news…

On Sunday, an unarmed Navy ocean survey vessel was forced to turn on the firehose to fend off Chinese ships shadowing it in the South China Sea.

The incident — which happened in international waters claimed by China as an “exclusive economic zone” — touched off a full-blown diplomatic spat between China and the United States.
The civilian-manned survey ship, the USNS Impeccable, was described by the Pentagon news service as “mapping the sea bottom” when the incident occurred. Umm, kinda sorta. Associated Press military writer Anne Gearan confirmed with defense officials that the ship was outfitted with sub-hunting equipment and was on a “calculated U.S. surveillance operation”; according to a photo released by the Navy, Chinese crew members were photographed trying to snag the Impeccable’s towed sensor array.

Over at Information Dissemination, Galrahn suggests a little bit of honesty is in order here. The Pentagon, he writes, needs to level with the American public about what exactly the mission is here.

“Somebody in the DoD [Department of Defense] apparently believes the American people can’t handle the truth regarding what our ships would be doing off the Chinese coast,” he writes. “Can someone please explain how collecting intelligence on the least transparent nation in the world while in international waters with an unarmed ship whose primary purpose is to monitor submarine activity is somehow a threatening act towards China if we say it out loud. If we wanted to be threatening to China, we would use one of our heavily armed AEGIS ships or better yet, one of our first in class submarines.”

    Background:

The uninvited guest: Chinese sub pops up in middle of U.S. Navy exercise, leaving military chiefs red-faced
    By MATTHEW HICKLEY
    November 2007

When the U.S. Navy deploys a battle fleet on exercises, it takes the security of its aircraft carriers very seriously indeed.

At least a dozen warships provide a physical guard while the technical wizardry of the world’s only military superpower offers an invisible shield to detect and deter any intruders.

That is the theory. Or, rather, was the theory.

American military chiefs have been left dumbstruck by an undetected Chinese submarine popping up at the heart of a recent Pacific exercise and close to the vast U.S.S. Kitty Hawk – a 1,000ft supercarrier with 4,500 personnel on board.

By the time it surfaced the 160ft Song Class diesel-electric attack submarine is understood to have sailed within viable range for launching torpedoes or missiles at the carrier.

According to senior Nato officials the incident caused consternation in the U.S. Navy.
The Americans had no idea China’s fast-growing submarine fleet had reached such a level of sophistication, or that it posed such a threat.

One Nato figure said the effect was “as big a shock as the Russians launching Sputnik” – a reference to the Soviet Union’s first orbiting satellite in 1957 which marked the start of the space age.

The incident, which took place in the ocean between southern Japan and Taiwan, is a major embarrassment for the Pentagon.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-492804/The-uninvited-guest-Chinese-sub-pops-middle-U-S-Navy-exercise-leaving-military-chiefs-red-faced.html

    And

    China sub stalked U.S. fleet

A Chinese submarine stalked a U.S. aircraft carrier battle group in the Pacific last month and surfaced within firing range of its torpedoes and missiles before being detected, The Washington Times has learned.

The surprise encounter highlights China’s continuing efforts to prepare for a future conflict with the U.S., despite Pentagon efforts to try to boost relations with Beijing’s communist-ruled military.

The submarine encounter with the USS Kitty Hawk and its accompanying warships also is an embarrassment to the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, Adm. William J. Fallon, who is engaged in an ambitious military exchange program with China aimed at improving relations between the two nations’ militaries.

Disclosure of the incident comes as Adm. Gary Roughead, commander of the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet, is making his first visit to China. The four-star admiral was scheduled to meet senior Chinese military leaders during the weeklong visit, which began over the weekend.

According to the defense officials, the Chinese Song-class diesel-powered attack submarine shadowed the Kitty Hawk undetected and surfaced within five miles of the carrier Oct. 26.

The surfaced submarine was spotted by a routine surveillance flight by one of the carrier group’s planes.

The Kitty Hawk battle group includes an attack submarine and anti-submarine helicopters that are charged with protecting the warships from submarine attack.

According to the officials, the submarine is equipped with Russian-made wake-homing torpedoes and anti-ship cruise missiles.

The Kitty Hawk and several other warships were deployed in ocean waters near Okinawa at the time, as part of a routine fall deployment program. The officials said Chinese submarines rarely have operated in deep water far from Chinese shores or shadowed U.S. vessels.

A Pacific Command spokesman declined to comment on the incident, saying details were classified. Pentagon spokesmen also declined to comment.

  • Touchet

What is so sad is that they were praising him early on for being so on it with putting together his cabinet. That was listed as one of his “accomplishments” LOL.

    • Ferd Berfle

They put all their roosting chickens in one basket, as it were.

    • sandi78

Most people have no idea how many positions are filled by presidential nominees. They think that the cabinet is it and everyone else is a permanent civil servant. I don’t see anyone in the msm educating the masses about this. I wonder why?

  • Ferd Berfle

Just what does Bristol Palin and her personal tribulations have to do with That One’s chickens making their way home to roost?

  • I’m a Linda too

I don’t know about you, but I could give a good goddamn about Bristol Palin, her baby or her break up with her boyfriend/fiancee. Not my problem. I wish her well but I do not understand why the media feels it imperative to monitor her every move. Here’s what I want–let’s keep track of what the hell Barack Obama is doing. Whoops, I mean, what he is not doing.

Well, doesn’t that say it all. They’d much rather focus on anything else, but what they should.

Heaven forbid the media actually start reporting the news. They intentionally don’t want to shine a light on what Obama is or is NOT doing. And they wonder why we are in this mess? HA!

    • cynic

The media is ratings-driven. They’ll cover whatever bumps up their ratings for however long it continues to do so. Unfortunately this includes the news.

  • Sassy

Apparently there is no rush on filling these positions.
I’ve heard at least three times today that the crisis is over, and we are on a roll economically.
The republicans have said that the government will need to hire 250,000 people to work on the 35 or so new government programs, so unemployment issues are resolved.
We can all breathe a sigh of relief!
Bristol is not the only celeb…Anna Nicole is headlining again! Ah, sweet normalcy!

  • Peggy Sue

I heard Greta Van Sustern say last night that she had “reporters” coming up to her and literally salivating over the Bristol Palin “news.” She was appalled. She said she assumed they approached her thinking she had a more intimate insight into the family. But these are presumably “adults,” who have the nerve to call themselves journalists, getting off on the misfortune and gossip of an 18-year old.

And, of course, this is a neat way to attack Sarah Palin and distract from the “boos” over this administration’s flailing.

I don’t agree with many of Palin’s social positions. But I have to agree: there are a lot of Dems who see her as a clear and present danger.

And Larry’s right. These are the same people who couldn’t find the time, the money or the personnel to investigate the guy running and then taking the office of POTUS. But they were all over the Palins. And still are.

And btw, this isn’t a soap opera. Anyone’s family, high or low, once put under the microscope would find themselves turned into cartoons. I’ve never met a perfect person, let alone a perfect family.

And anyone who says they have is either blind or a damn liar!

  • Citizen70

The News Hour is on and they’re discussing the criticism now being directed at Obama’s governance. Michael Gerson just said…”over-promising and under-performing….”. Judy Woodruff and Mark Shields are doing their best to defend the Obamamessiah. Have folks noticed how the Administration trotted out Summers and Volcker today to instill some confidence (that Geithner and Obama cannot)? I wonder why David Brooks is not on the show — crying over spilled milk?

  • Ginger

The reason that those positions have yet to be filled @ Treasury is that they are still looking for people who have cheated on their taxes.

    • kinthenorthwest

Hey dont knock it — As long as Obama keeps picking these guys we keep getting the overdue tax money. From looking at the list to still be picked we could really start paying down the debt if Obama finds the caliber of people he has been picking.

      • Animal Control

we keep getting the overdue tax money

        Good viewpoint

  • Animal Control

Let’s just close our eyes and pretend Barack is competent.

This is precisely what’s going on.

    His presidency is in shambles.

BTW, a little off topic, but this morning on the Today show, they had a clip of Hillary and Michelle at some event (probably related to Women’s History Month), and Hillary made some glowing remarks about Michelle. Then Michelle got up to speak and she thank Secretary Clinton, and then stated, “Secretary Clinton, I like saying that…Secretary Clinton.” I wasn’t quite sure how to take that. Did anyone else see this?

    • so saddened

didn’t see it, as would have to be paid a LOT of money to watch the today show or anything else on nbo or msnbo.

seems to me that meeeeechelle would LOVE saying secretary clinton, because she knows it should’ve been president clinton, but then meeeeeeechelle would’ve had to go back to irrelevance. so now she gets to pretend what a wonderful thing it is for hillary to be sos, as though that’s a big deal. what a b—-!

read some crap about meeeeeeechelle and hillary being the two most powerful women in the world or something. since when is the wife of the president one of the most powerful women? the big zero sure acted like hillary’s time as the wife of the president was all about serving tea.

  • Babs

It was on Fox tonight, Hannity I think, that Obama’s “transition team” spent $5.1 M on getting ready for this debacle. Maybe we just didn’t allot them enough money? Or maybe they should have spent it a little more wisely – somehow The Obama’s Hawaiian vacation was part of the total bill. Where’s Keith Olbermann when you need him? LOL

    • so saddened

i think every taxpayer should just make a large contribution to the big zero and his big wife, on the condition that he immediately resign and they never show their faces in the country again. they could go run kenya into the ground. and we’d be saving money in the long run, since it’s going to cost all of us and our descendants trillions of dollars for the two of them to enjoy their ego trip while screwing the country over.

  • texaslatina

thank you! that’s what i’m talkin about. thanks larry! finally someone who brings back the issues back into focus. i am so embarrased to have this guy as our “president”. geez, i cringe when i hear people on tv refer to him as “president”. God, please tell me i am i just havin a night terror and i am fixin to wake up! please!

Okay, my question is, why haven’t I heard about this from THE NEW AGENDA, or PUMA? Are we ALL not subject to this horrific slanderous disgusting degrading objectification whenever ANYONE DOES IT?

    Yes. We are.

So. My question is: WHERE ARE THE PUMAS ON THIS ONE? NEW AGENDA? ANYONE?

Because I am pissed off, and sick to death of this shit. Meghan McCain is right, and her response is such a breath of fresh air, and frankly, so mature, that it shocks the senses to think Laura Ingraham is 20 years older than this wise and refreshing young woman.

Laura Ingraham? You are no Christian, you poseur. Shame on you, you’re nothing but a fascist.
