Good morning, Barack! (Rezko got jobs for your staffers? Do tell.)

Good morning, Mr. Show Me The Money. It’s March 7, a new day in Chicago politics (actually, every Daley day’s the same there — dark and dirty) and there’s more Rezkorama entertainment:

Chicago Sun-Times reporter Dave McKinney writes in his “Watchdog” column:

Did Rezko find jobs for Obama staffers?

Did Barack Obama use indicted campaign fund-raiser Tony Rezko as a conduit to get jobs for people in Gov. Blagojevich’s administration?

The question arises from a list of 39 people Rezko’s lawyers said in a court filing he urged Blagojevich to give state jobs.

Among those on the list were two people who appear to have Obama links and a third who’s now an Obama presidential campaign staffer.

But did the names come from Obama? His campaign staff’s short answer: Don’t know — but it’s possible.

“We do not know how decisions were made to fill specific state positions, and we have no records of any individual recommendations we were asked to make or made,” says Obama spokesman Bill Burton “But we do know that Tony Rezko, among others, was helping to gather names for the positions coming open with a new administration, and, if it is established any names came through our office, we would have no reason to doubt it.”

Conservative Hugh Hewitt was just on CNN’s American Morning touting his new Web site, “Rezkorama.com” — and note the last sentence from this snippet of Hewitt’s announcement at Townhall.com of the new site:

At my urging, the brains at Kithbridge put together Rezkorama.com on Thursday to provide a continually updating news feed on all things related to Tony Rezko –Barack Obama’s friend, finacier and next-door empty-lot owner. It took about a nano-second for Rezkorama to be denounced as “Swiftboating” by Obama fans at Newshoggers.com, which leads me to believe that any coverage of any democratic scandal from now until the end of time will be known as “Swiftboating,” for which I think the Swiftboat Veterans for truth should charge royalties.

In any event, faux outrage among the Obamians won’t be stifling interest in Mr. Rezko any time soon as Rezko is standing trial on many fraud allegations in Chicago –a trial that began this week and may go on for three months, though we can only hope it drags on through the Denver Convention.

Rezkorama.com” — like “Rezkowatch” — appears to be a handy-dandy summary of the latest news and blog entries on the Rezko scandal and trial.

One difference: Rezkowatch was founded by a liberal Democrat whereas Rezkorama is the product of conservatives. No matter. Both sites, best I can tell, rely on careful sourcing and vetting.

It just reminds me too much of Whitewater

This being the latest amateur pastiche out of camp Obama, in an effort to blow smoke, the latest method of trite attack, ala Bush, and Cheney, from team “we only see our brilliant, sparkling selves, amateur to the last, are we cool, yet, Obama?”

No, Obama said to spin some more.

Whitewater didn’t involve a terrorist enabler, Auchi, a former Saddam bagman and a convicted felon.

The Clintons were never suspected of stealing money, illegally, from the Iraqi and American people.

Rezko’s Chicago buddy, Alsammarae, is accused of just that, in connection with a missing 650 million, stole from the CPA, whilst it’s back was turned, apparently.

( I was going to add “young, and Ivy League selves, but they’re not young, and they’re not all Ivy Leaguers, just gassed up mediocrities. I was reading about Markos yesterday, evoking my sympathy, really, but anyway, he wrote, while in college, a report about racial harassment at NIU, citing one method of attack as, paraphrasing, “taunts shouted from car windows.” And THIS is the Chicago way, the attack made from a car, so the perpetrator can run away, without having to stand, and fight, facing the consequences of his behavior. It’s cowardly, it’s Chicago, and it’s Obama ( as well as Bush and Cheney). And it’s narcissistic. So what does this tell you about the “Chicago method?” They don’t’ stand and fight, they whine, or they hit and run, driven by their FEARS, unable to properly assess their weaknesses, deluded.

Oh, gosh, how shall I source this?

How do people who can’t recognize analysis or critical thought, who depned on others to tell them how to think, seeking validation, fight?

“I wanna see a source for your originality.”

      Heh.

They’re going to try to nickel and dime the blogs, any post critical of Obama, as a method of disruption. Technically, a simple point/counterpoint, in the method of the Polish, Chopin, without any genius, or talent.

Obamabots, like Cheneybots, are not bright.

      • Simon

depend, sorry, like the adult diapers.

I guess that would be Depends, though.

    • Nellie

NO it is not Whitewater – more like Watergate on steroids. It ivolves a HUGE Byantine Hawala Scam, as well as the counts already atributed to Rezko to date.

    • Nellie

No not Whitewater – More like WATERGATE on steroids.

Underneath all the counts to date, there is a HUGE Hawala scam.

    >>> It just reminds me too much of Whitewater

Why should Senator Hope-A-Dope be denied that sort of fun?

For the first time I’m actually watching WGN coverage on my local cable channel.

    • Simon

      >>> It just reminds me too much of Whitewater

This is far far more serious than Whitewater, indicating massive corruption, and terrorism, stretching all the way back to Washington.

The Whitewater reference from Obama, or Cheney, is an effort to minimize the situation, while implicating Clinton.

      This is a lie.

And it isn’t going away, ever.

False hope, and all that, for that old CPA crew…

You think they’d know by now, the pattern.

      Sigh…

      • Nellie

        Simon

You are right – Let’s make sure it doesn’t go away.

Great find by you yesterday on the former Iraqi oil Minister and, the 650 Million stolen from the CPA.

I have a lot more information. I will be happy to give it to you.

    Rezko. It’s the new Whitewater.

Riddle me this: why super-d’s are still supporting Oblahma? Have they been so fuddled by kool-aid that their political radars are on the fritz?

This thing isn’t going away anytime soon.

    • Fred C. Dobbs

      >>> why super-d’s are still supporting Oblahma?

It’s the, “Quadrennial Democratic Will to Fail.” Some deep-seated feeling of Unworthiness or something.

Far too many of my fellow Democrats are guided by their Lemming Brand GPS units this year.

      • fribbles

Must be. I’ve often wondered why the party would crap all over the only winners they’ve ever had in the last 25 years.

        • apishapa

          Their kids told them to.

    • MarkL

They have plenty of time to change. My prediction is that Obama will lose all or most of the remaining primaries, and will also be 10 or more points behind Hillary in the polls by June.
Obviously the SD’s will endorse Hillary then.

        From your lips to …

        • Nellie

          Ditto

    • http://OUTRAGEDBUTNOTSURPRISED bama_barrron

as i suggested yesterday … if obama and his people are stupid enough to release a list of super delegates they control before the convention … it will be very easy to see how many of these people have received campaign donations from the obama “machine” or his proxies.

money talks and bullshit walks. the only question in my mind is will they stay bought when more and more garbage is uncovered.

      • http://truth Truth

        NO.

  • http://OUTRAGEDBUTNOTSURPRISED bama_barrron

as many of us have asked before: why will the repigs treat obama any different then they did bubba clinton? the oborgs who continue to tout inclusiveness and touchy feeling politics 101 will learn quickly … or as i really expect … they are incapable of understanding what is awaiting them.

as an aside, why do these new gop websites remind me so much of the arkansas project? if we look around the corner will we find the sneering face of richard mellon-scaife and his buddies.

One side benefit I’ve noticed from the Rethuglican bloggers preoccupation with Rezko is that it gives them plenty to focus their animus on, which diverts them from ressurecting old Clinton hateration.

I have no doubt Obama’s ineptitude in squashing the story will keep filling that particular little pool of venom.

So in a weird way, Rezko buys Clinton space from the GOP slime machine. Or maybe they’re burnt out on villifying the Clintons. That’s so 1990′s.

Unfortunately, should she choose Obama as her running mate, it becomes our problem too.

    • Nellie

I already wrote her campaign and said PLEASE NO! Obama should not be near ANY governance levers – EVER!

      • fribbles

He might be forced on her “for the good of the party.” If so, the VP office should go back to being what it was before Gore got in there and actually started doing stuff…a figurehead.

  • mostest

In my opinion, Obama has committed two very elites and telling actions:
    1. Getting friends jobs and
    2. Allowing poor people to freeze in slums while the slum lords “steals” millions.

That is why Obama can not connect with the “paycheck to paycheck” voters and never will. “P to P” voters see this going on all the time, they didn’t get the promotion or job because their bosses’ kid went to school with the new hires. They can’t get the landlord to fix the leaky faucet or the stopped up toilet.

That Obama guy is in for a more troubles…I suspect.

    • Fleaflicker

Yes. The one element in this story that only gets mentioned in passing is how Rezko’s tenants suffered. Btw, one day I tried to find accounts of their problems, but didn’t get anywhere — the Chicago newspapers refer to it, but only in paragraphs down the page.

  • apishapa

Has anyone else seen this? Samantha Powers resigned.

There are an awful lot of references here about Whitewater and the Clintons, and if my memory serves me correctly the story goes this way. The Clintons invested money in the Whitewater deal, I think about $100,000, which was managed by James and Susan MacDougal. Mr. MacDougal of less than sterling character did some dishonest things with this investment, very shady to say the least. Susan MacDougal, when the GOP tried to make a big case of this deal, during the Clinton presidency, was sent to jail for 18 months for contempt of court because she refused to lie to the special investigator about the Clintons’ non-involvement in her ex-husband’s scheme. After much paperwork, and lots of taxpayers’ money, the Clintons were found to be innocent of any wrongdoing or illegal deals. Now, can we forget about Whitewater?

Can we also clear up Travelgate? When the Bill Clinton became President in 1992, the Travel office which arranged for the press travel plans, had an office manager, who admitted after he was fired, supposedly by Hillary, that he ‘co-mingled Travel office funds with his own’. Now that sounds like embezzelment. Those words are his. In my world, whoever is caught embezzeling company funds not only deserves to be fired, but prosecuted as well. This man was never prosecuted, and I don’t even know if he returned the funds he ‘co-mingled’
