OH PLEASE! Accept the truth, Dude! McCain ADMITTED he knew NOTHING about economics which is why the American people have been robbed..i.e. first bailout. McCain had no clue then and still doesn’t, so he complains and rambles around the periphery of the nation’s problems without offering concrete solutions. I’d rather see him consulting with congress and economists for solutions rather than acting like a sore-head campaigning for the next election. Not having much time left, he should go to his afterlife with some historical dignity and significance. My suggestion to McCain – GET TO WORK!

Within days FDR had a plan in place. Confidence was actually a quite while in coming back. The economy didn’t fully recover until after the war.

OH PLLLEEEEASE….enough with the comparisons to FDR. Obama is NOTHING like him or anything close to him. Within days FDR had restored a sense of confidence in the economy…DAYS, as in the first week! Obama has done absolutely nothing to get at the core problem, the housing crisis. Enough with the kool-aid induced glorification of the Empty One.

I keep forgetting that the last republican administration trashed our credit rating. Well, damn… I guess we’ll have to borrow it from ourselves. I sure hope the Chinese like devalued dollars. We might be forced to start manufacturing our own consumer goods again, and hiring American workers to do it. Wouldn’t that be bloody tragic?

A month in, I don’t feel like Obama has let me down. I wanted alternative energy initiatives and attention to the infrastructure. That’s part of the stimulus package. I wanted climate change to be taken seriously. It’s being taken seriously, and addressed in a way that will make the initial transition to alternative energy economically competetive. I wanted the Bush tax cuts dumped because I considered them totally irresponsible. They’ll be allowed to expire. I wanted attention to health care and education. That’s all in the works. I fully expect to see our regulatory agencies doing what they were designed to do again before Obama is out of office.

I don’t actually see any deception. Anyone who listened closely to Obama during the campaign had a pretty fair outline of his post-election agenda. Given the economic crisis, I’m only surprised by how much of that agenda is already on the roll. The beginnings have been made possible by turning the agenda into the response to the very crisis that might have prevented it.

There’s more FDR thinking here than Obama’s detractors like to admit. We came out of the Great Depression with new roads, highways, public building that are still serving us, the electrification of rural America, hydroelectric dams and bridges we’re still using today, and a Social Security system that has kept generations of Americans out of poverty in old age. That was accomplished during decades of economic adversity that were punctuated with our involvement in a global war.

This time, if all goes as planned, we might come out of a shorter period of economic adversity with modernized and more effective social programs, a renewed national energy and transportation infrastructure, and the beginnings of permanent energy independence based on non-polluting, inexhaustable sources.

I bet on all of those possibilities when I voted. So far I haven’t regretted where I placed my chips.

And he’s in so deep with so many lies, he can’t keep up with them all. That’s one of the reasons why he so desperately needs the teleprompter and someone feeding him answers. He can’t think on his feet worth a damn. I am simply amazed that he is known for being a skilled orator. Kind of like Britney Spears known for being a “singer” when she doesn’t actually sing.
