“I’m in the dark” Open Thread [Updated]

UPDATE, and you can blame IndyRobin for this video:

From The Page, “N.Y. Governor Spitzer Deals With Drip-Drip-Drip Over Prostitution Scandal”:

Responses from other political figures:

Clinton: “Let’s wait and see what comes out over the next days….”

Obama: “I’m a little in the dark.”

Man oh man, this next incident happened last week, and he’s just responding now?

Obama: Rep. King’s Comments “Inflammatory and Offensive”:

Slams Iowa Republican’s remarks about his middle name and the response of terrorists to his election while stopping to shake hands and get lunch at a restaurant in Columbus, Mississippi.

Has no comment on Spitzer, hasn’t “seen the details of it.”

Further dismisses Clinton suggestion of a split ticket, saying “I am not running for vice president and don’t intend to be vice president.”

Talked to reporters while picking up orders of catfish tenders and hushpuppies. Read full pool report here. Permalink

What else is going on in the world? Oh — there is this:

McCain to Visit Jerusalem, London, Paris

The presumed GOP nominee will lead a congressional delegation to Europe and the Middle East from March 18-21. Delegation to include Sens. Graham and Lieberman, both supporters.

Other stops may be added. Permalink

Now that he learned from Hillary where is the heating, in the next SNL he should ask her to show him the light.

When is Obama planning his trip? Maybe he is going with McCain.

She was nicer than Time. She left out the “little” part.

Wow….watching Olbermann tonight, I got the expected inaccurate smear jobs against Hillary.

What I do not get, at all, is he is claiming the SNL sketch from Saturday night was a it job on Hillary and the sharks coming home to roost? Is he nuts? That sketch was the most hard hitting shot at Obama imaginable! All right, Hillary was portrayed in an ugly nightgown with curlers and face cream….but it hit Obama between the eyes….hard!!!!

    Am I missing something?

I don’t think you are, but KO apparently is.

I don’t care too much for his show right now, way over the top Hillary bashing.

I’d prefer to see him beat up on the Reupblicans rather than one of the the dem candidates and Hillary more so than BO.

McCain to Visit Jerusalem, London, Paris

Why not a little stop in Iraq? Go talk to our brave soldiers and let them know we’ve only got 94 years left of the McCain plan for the ME..

Went to see Hillary tonight in Scranton, Pa. The rally was in a room that held 3,000 people, which filled quickly. Then they seated 500 more in the school auditorium with Hillary’s speech piped in. We were seated in the auditorium and listened to a wonderful speech. There were also quite a few folks who were turned away. The turnout was incredible. The line to get in was about 1/2 mile long! It was carried live by some local TV stations.

Afterward, Hillary showed up to greet the auditorium crowd and shake hands. I was struck at how tiny and petite she is. What a dynamo.

I was shocked to see how many young people were there. We were surrounded by college kids in line and had time to chat. Incredibly interesting and encouraging. Oh, there were about 7 or 8 Obama protesters chanting and yelling, but they were more comic relief than anything. What a rag-tag group. After I gather my thoughts, I will post more on the subject tomorrow.

What the hell were her supporters doing there protesting? Hey it’s the same party, no matter what, in the end we’re on the same team here.
sounds like Nobody remembers the ’68 convention.

I must have missed Hillary saying she wanted Mr. Hope as “VP.” I heard Hill and Bill talking about a “Dream Ticket”, but I have never heard either one say that she wanted Mr. Hope to be VP. She may have insinuated it when she said, “but you have to vote for me first.” Then again, that could be spun to say that that is the ONLY way to get the “Dream Ticket” the people want because Mr. Hope won’t be taking Hillary as VP. No? She could have been saying that the Dream Ticket can happen ONLY if she is the Prez, but not if Mr. Hope is Prez…which is probably true. Mr. Hope isn’t going to take Hillary as VP. Michelle’s head would explode.

Mr. Hope needs to get over himself and honestly, Hill and Bill need to stop stroking his ego with this Dream Ticket rhetoric. It’s big enough already!

    Open thread -
John Dean has a really good column up; great reading for getting a broader perspective of the election campaign
“Clinton and Obama, or Obama and Clinton: Will There Be a Hollywood Ending to This Dramatic Story?”
    at http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20080307.html

“…[this] Democratic presidential nomination may be the best political story of my lifetime, if not in the history of the country. This is pure, historic political drama.”

Later he refers metaphorically to the superdelegates as a potential “Deus Ex Machina Solution”. For the unfamiliar, deus ex machina originally referred to an ancient Greek drama plot device – a physical one, where a crane with ropes and pulleys lowers a statue of a god on stage to resolve an unsolvable dillema; literally a ‘god from a machine’. Later it came to refer to any unnatural intervention in a plot line.

    Hey Hoosier, how ya been?

    - I remember the ’68 convention, on a black and white tv that is.

I had also been tempted to take a bus to the Ambassador the night Bobby was shot (earlier, before we knew what was to happen). But I was in high school at the time, and my parents made me do homework instead.

    Hi ybnormal
It’s good to hear from you!!
My mom passed last month after a long illness. I’m just getting back to blogging again.
I hear there is some heavy political stuff going down..you hear anything?
    :)

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

    Krugman’s column today:

Read through … then read the last sentence. The very last sentence.

  • ybnormal

    Yeah I just read that.

    And if I may add my own 2cents worth; an un-tested plan/candidate = a non-plan.

And what about that 3am phone call? Sounds like it’s actually been ringing since friday.

  • Patti

Hope is definately not a plan.. Unless you are hoping to get the parking spot on top of the store.

  • ybnormal

Sorry about your mom; I hear you. Over the last 2 years, both mine and my wife’s fathers passed. We get used to it, but never really over it.

Meanwhile, over here at NQ, there’s a whole fresh batch of commenters. It seems many of them feel like the diss’d & piss’d from some other sites where they felt punished for alternate opinions about Mr. O. Comments sound like KOS is becoming Orwell’s Animal Farm.

  • ybnormal

yeah, roof parking – nothing like plastic seat sweat, in the sun.

  • Mitchman

Isn’t Elliot Spitzer a Hillary supporter and a Super Delegate…? Why does this thread have an Obama meta tag (category) on it…?
No Quarter has become No Clue when it comes to the Hillary Kool-Aid being consumed here, yikes….!

  • Bill Keyes

In case you were wondering about all the new posters you also might be wondering about all the “old” posters like me, shirin, Cee, Leslie, MEP and others who dont post much any more.

While we haven’t been banned from NQ we have been diss’d and piss’d from NQ because we didnt
embrace the “new” NQ which suddenly emerged a few months ago as the anti-Obama-bashing site it has now become. While that is technically none of us “old” posters business, it is sad, because we used to be part of a community that exchanged and discussed viewpoints on a wide range of subjects not just such a narrow one as
    Hillary and Obama.

Now the only “discussion” is about what a great Dem candidate Hillary is and what a poor candidate Obama is.

Just to give you an example Huffpo is definitely a pro Obama site, however they have a lot of other stories then just “attacking” Hillary, in fact they dont even really attack Hillary,as you ppl attack Obama here.

You ppl also seem to be quite upset that the MSM and some internet sites are not fair and unbiased when it comes to discussing the merits of the two Democratic candidates, but you should really look in the mirror at yourselves and see how biased and unfair you have become when it comes to discussing the merits of those two candidates

Kind of like old saying “Do as I say, not do as I do.”

  • Cee Hussein

    It’sNotMe,

You’re not paying attention. Hillary looked quite embarrassed yesterday as she tried to back away from this offer. It backfired.

I heard that he will resign. I am no expert in this area but I think Hillary will lose 1 more super delegate if he resign.
