obama mappin’ out a plan ~open thread

Facing huge economic challenges, an impending increase in covert activities in Pakistan, massive unemployment, aggressive health care initiatives, a massive learning curve, and an ever growing AIG debacle, it’s nice to see Obama spending his valuable time mapping out a crucial plan.

Oh, never mind.

Somebody said that we’re not in President Obama’s Final Four, and as much as I respect what he’s doing, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets,” Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said from the Blue Devils’ first-round site in Greensboro, N.C.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn took a much harsher tone Thursday in a floor speech, saying that Obama might want to spend less time making basketball predictions and more time filling the many job openings still at the Treasury Department. Having more hands on deck, he said, might have led to better oversight of the AIG situation.

“I appreciate that President Obama has completed his ‘March Madness’ Tournament Bracket,” Cornyn said. “Yet the organizational chart of his administration still has far too many open slots.”

(It’s too bad he doesn’t know as much about being President as he does about the NCAA…)

I personally think that the Russians for sure if not the Chinese by their side will wipe out Obama’s smirk from his face pretty darn soon. That’s what I know. And is not going to be a pretty sight to see.

And from my back yard….THREE CHEERS for Duke’s Coach K.

OK, so now I got to catch up on yesterday’s reading and see Susan wrote about this. Sorry for the duplication. My opththththtogist scratched my cornea during a laser procedure and I couldn’t read much yesterday. Be kind.

I’m so proud of Coach K. How the hell stupid is Obama for getting in the middle of college rivalries? It’s not like HIS alma maters ever won a freakin’ game.

      • AF catfish

In that video, Obama knows wayy too much about the teams, and how they’re doing this year compared to last year. He goes on and on and on and on.

        • NoBamaNoWay

he can probably tell you in great detail what all the coolest rap stars are up to lately too. heck, he probably spoke to chris brown personally after the recent “incident” and assured him that everything would be okay, and that if the bitch knew what’s good for her she’d shut up. (sarcasm)

          • Baba Rum Raisin

Do you think he knows who shot Tupac?

      • heather

Coach K might as well wait by the mailbox for his notice of audit. It’s coming, I’ll bet on it….

  • rjj

What would CorpsMedia have to say if Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, or HRC had done that.

What did Rush Limburg have to say?

  • candymarl

Oh good grief. Well we know where Obama’s priorities are.

  • elise

Obama said he could multi-task; go on the tonight show, pick the winner in the tournament and fix the economy at the same time. Really, Obama? Well, maybe you will do better at picking basketball winners and stand-up comedy than with the economy? Pretty strange considering he was too tired and overwhelmed to give the UK PM a proper welcome to Washington, but then I’m not a mulit-tasker so what do I know? I guess I would rather do one thing well than three things half-assed.

    • AF catfish

Obama, if you can multitask, you could lend your Treasury Secretary a hand and get the rest of his office staffed. You can’t multitask, you failed.

    • Ginger

Elise! So true. Sometimes, we slough thru the day and just hope it ends but when it’s ‘game on’ – you gotta bring your game face. We need a president who will ‘bring it’ and knows what that means. And, not have to get reminded, scolded that there is work to do to make that happen.
Some time ago I saw a poster that said, “success is when preparation meets opportunity.”

  • Elsie

Actually he is showing what matters to him and not what matters to country. I am not a basketfall fan and I do not like to see a President of this country wasting time with a basketball game bracket. Sen Cronyn said it right, he should go to work first and fill in those positions in the Treasury department…What a l-s-r.

The fact is that Obama was selected to be a permanent campaigner… while Dem Party insiders did the real “governing.”

We have no president. We have an empty suit and a puppet, to distract us from what’s really going on.

    • LesleeE

I think you hit the nail on the head. Great observation.

  • ACPD

And the party goes on…not the Party, but the fun times. This guy has an amazing ability to let slid anything that doesn’t amuse him. That sounds pretty much like a lot of people who voted for him. Likes attract.

At some point the comedians are going to run out of Palin jokes and when they really look at this guy, they are going to find they have more material than even Bush gave them. BO is a joke–through and through….

I still think BO is getting a pass because of the color or his skin. People are afraid of being called racist, if they criticize or make fun of him. That is one of my definitions of racism–believing someone is not up to snuff, so that they should be handicapped and be helped along. When people are equal, they are held to the same standard of conduct and expectations….

BO is a lightweight in all categories, except in that of Chief-in-Living-It-Up.

    • Baba Rum Raisin

      >>> I still think BO is getting a pass because of the color or his skin.

      Aw, do ya think?

  • mountainaires

    “Chief-Of-Livin’-it-up!”

That’s good! And, unfortunately, all to accurate.

The bot-boobs at the recent town hall were a prime example, all breathless and excited to being in the same room with such a celebrity, couldn’t praise his name enough, from the brief glimpse I got of the thing. It’s just pathetic. These people are mostly 1-2 paychecks away from financial disaster; but all they can think about is being close to THE ONE.

What the hell is this man doing on Jay Leno?! It’s all about the “love”; he needs to feel the love, and the adulation. He’s a narcissist; an adolescent, emotionally immature narcissist. Narcissists need the excitement; doing the boring work of governance–particulary in such a dangerous time–is too much for them. They recoil at it; they run away to LA from it.

Meanwhile, the FED is panicking, manipulating the market, and throwing another $1.2 Trillion into the burning flames of our fiscal insanity. Zimbabwe here we come!

    Will You Take The Pledge?

The Pledge: “I support President Obama’s bold approach for renewing America’s economy. I will ask friends, family, and neighbors to pledge their support for this plan”

They have taken a pledge of loyalty to Obama, and they say they are coming your way tomorrow for yours. Organizing for America (OFA), the Obama-for-President campaign morphed into Obama-for-Maximum-Leader army, will hit the streets on Saturday for their “Pledge Project Canvass,” knocking on doors and accosting folks in parking lots and sidewalks to ask them to sign a pledge to support Obama’s policies for health care, energy and education reform.

      You’re scarin’ me! Whaaaaa!

    • lark

To raise the cost of health care for everyone, to raise the cost of energy and gas and to drown education with more money so that students can be paid for turning in a blank sheet of paper with their names.

Yeah, I pledge. Hurray. I got the money to burn.

lucky you Lark.i lost all of mine in the stock market.

  • Sassy

So far BO has put up nothing but “air balls”!
Maybe he should try using the backboard for a while…just until he grows into his uniform!

    • lark

So far BO has put up nothing but “air balls”!

You know, ahh ah oh oh ii iii i, this is being noticed internationally, you know you know. This man soon will be in worse shape than Bush to affect international policy, regardless of how ultra liberal and anti-American his policies might be.

I think in the next four years, Obama will switch from basketball to being likened to a soccer ball, better known as ‘football.’

Flying a bit under the radar, Energy Secy. Chu is proposing Hawley-Smoot, Part Deux.
Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Tuesday advocated adjusting trade duties as a “weapon” to protect U.S. manufacturing, just a day after one of China’s top climate envoys warned of a trade war if developed countries impose tariffs on carbon-intensive imports.

Mr. Chu, speaking before a House science panel, said establishing a carbon tariff would help “level the playing field” if other countries haven’t imposed greenhouse-gas-reduction mandates similar to the one President Barack Obama plans to implement over the next couple of years. It is the first time the Obama administration has made public its view on the issue.

“If other countries don’t impose a cost on carbon, then we will be at a disadvantage…[and] we would look at considering perhaps duties that would offset that cost,” Mr. Chu said.

Li Gao, a senior Chinese negotiator from the National Development and Reform Commission, told Dow Jones Newswires Monday that a carbon tariff would be a “disaster,” would prompt a trade war and wouldn’t be legal under World Trade Organization agreements.

We all know how Hawley – Smoot worked out …

How long before we are going to be sent to re-education camps community campuses for noticing these type of inconsistencies? Just askin’. Beware the naked man… who offers you a brown shirt. ;)

I read about a week ago that a neighboring county will be replacing a 20 foot bridge at a cost of $800,000 of the stimulus money.
When it’s finished, we are going to drive down and see what we paid for…might be a nice place for a picnic!
    Pork and beans! Yum!

    • lark

Will hybrid electric cars need a wider and stronger 20 lousy foot bridge to get through? No. Then the new bridge is for more of the same.

Obama’s Special Envoy served on AIG Board.

Here’s why Obama shouldn’t be on ESPN mapping out a plan…

“I guess we messed President Obama’s bracket up,” Lewis cracked from deep inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

who is a guard for USC. The article http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-dufresne-usc21-2009mar21,0,5631517.column?page=1 suggest that

USC is now officially too hot to touch

and Obama had them eliminated in the 1st round and that Obama discounted the Pac-10 and

the Pac-10 is 5-1 after two days of the tournament

Obama seems to have unnecessarily injected himself into the fray and some are lashing out for being dissed by thier punk of a prez. Really Obama could have shown leadership and said he supported all the members these college teams and that he was routing for great competition for all of them, and that he would roll up his sleeves and pull lots of all-nighters working to solve the problems of our great nation.

  • mary

Do you suppose he even knows there is a women’s tournament as well? …oh I kid myself. He cares not for women … just more of the same macho crap.
