Obama gave Brown the wrong version….

The box set of 25 DVD’s that Obama gave Gordon Brown, are in fact, coded for the USA.

Remember President Obama’s splendid gift to British PM Gordon Brown? The UK Telegraph reports those 25 DVDs just went from thoughtless to literally useless:

Alas, when the PM settled down to begin watching them the other night, he found there was a problem.

The films only worked in DVD players made in North America and the words “wrong region” came up on his screen. Although he mournfully had to put the popcorn away, he is unlikely to jeopardise the special relationship – or “special partnership”, as we are now supposed to call it – by registering a complaint.

A Downing Street spokesman said he was “confident” that any gift Obama gave Brown would have been “well thought through,” but referred me to the White House for assistance on the “technical aspects”.

A White House spokesman sniggered when I put the story to him and he was still looking into the matter when my deadline came last night.

By all means, Mr. Spokesman, laugh it up. Cue the new Obama administration theme song.

    Brown apparently tried to watch Hitchcock’s “Psycho”. Perhaps he was trying to gain some insight about our new President. It’s a bloody shame it didn’t work. I hope Obama’s foriegn policy isn’t equally disfunctional.

    This administration is a joke. There are no redeeming qualities. You can overlook minor aspects but, everything Obama has touched, is a mess. The Obama touch.

    On behalf of the American people, I would like to extend to Britain my deepest apology for the boorish behavior that our President displayed to the PM. Sorry.

    Is there a possibility that the Brittish medical system has a four year in-patient sensitivity training program? We’ve got a notable person in desperate need of such treatment. Many problems could be solved.

    I suggested to the Republican National Committee that they send Prime Minister Brown and his sons decent gifts, and suggested they ask President Bush for suggestions. I suggested they invite PM Brown over her and throw him a shindig, but I also mentioned the taxpayers of England would be paying for the flight over here.

    It seems like Obama is going out of his way to offend our friends and trying to make friends with our enemies. I know he wants to be called KING instead of president.     Why do you say that? Don’t you remember? He went campaigning in Europe before the election. He wanted his state visits to Europe before he was even elected. The id–t does not know how to be president and is not ready to lead on day one. He duped everyone into believing that he is the one everyone is waiting for. I could not believe what I heard last night..Dr. Lunzt, the wordsmith guy who got his PhD from Cambridge university and who invented words like climate change and all those pretty words that Republicans love to use like war on terror. He also drank the Kool Aid and he said he likes Obambi and what he is doing and what he is saying. He warns, though that if his policies become less popular, no matter how good a communicator he is, it will cause trouble for him..

    I guess that none of you lot even understand watching an NTSC DVD on a PAL set is not even an issue.

    If Downing Street does not have one – I will personally gift a £19.99 Tesco DVD player to Gordon.

    Oh See, that’s why being a Christian helps. If his name isn’t Jesus and he came almost 2000 year ago. If he isn’t walking on water, he aint it. Then you can go and vote for Hillary Clinton or McCain/Palin. Things are so much easier if you have that messiah thing all cleared up.

    Brown doesn’t have one, hence the story of him sitting down to watch Psycho, only to discover the DVD didn’t work.

    You don’t buy someone DVD’s that require them to go out and purchase a special player to view them.

    I live in Italy. I know what it is like to have different region playing dvd players.

    You better go buy Brown a new DVD player, because his won’t play the DVDs Obama gave him.

    Or he can try and crack it, like we did.

    The point is, Obama was completely thoughtless and stupid about the gift. Quit trying to make excuses for him. It is soooooooooooooooooo beyond desperation and just plain pathetic.

    OMG AGI; this is terrible…How stupid are they? Really… A 10 year old knows DVD have different coding according to which region in the world you live in.
    Nowadays is pretty much like not knowing that not everyone in the world has uses the same voltage as in the US…

    Well, try telling that to those nice merchants (happily practicing an early version of capitalism) in the temple when that Nazarene preacher came around and started going crazy, overturning tables, knocking merchandise on the floor. There was no actual law (in any code or book) prohibiting what they were doing, yet this crazy preacher just goes off, ranting as if he were possessed.
    I never really understood why that particular story made it into the Bible. It certainly doesn’t paint a very favorable image of Jesus (and given the massive increase in the televangelism industry over the past thirty years, it must make some of the megachurch preachers a bit uneasy–it could explain why few sermons ever use that particular passage).

    The gift set for Gordon was specially assembled by the American Film Insititue at the request of the White House. Surely the American Film Institue knows about Region and PAL encoding.

    backed out of campaign finance, stole delegates he didn’t earn, funded ACORN who commited voter fraud, urged *in their face* tactics, and intimidation….
