And as the number of "wealthy" has declined, then that means less of them and and less income to tax. Obama needs as many rich people as possible to pay for all the programs he wants to implement. That means either no programs, or more likely, the thousandaires (that 95% of the population per Obama) will see their taxes increase. We often speak of wealthy people with derision and scorn, but they have a great deal of responsibility on a daily basis, and we see that their lives are often tragic. Corruption and greed factor in the equation, but their consumption of luxury items provide returns to society. So the natural order of things dictates that some people must be poor in order for Forbes to create a readable list of rich people.
