Let’s ignore the fact that the two Senators who received more money from AIG than any other legislator were Barack Obama and Chris Dodd. Why did AIG give money to these men? Do you think AIG was trying to “buy” influence? Do you think AIG wanted to ensure that the Senators (and or President) would answer their phone calls or put favorable language into legislation? Nah. AIG was just a bunch of generous motherfuckers who just happened to like Barack and Chris. That’s all.
So now we get this spectacle:
Chris. Dude.
Did you not know about the concept of videotape? Maybe you are counting on collective stupidity and memory loss? You are good at one thing–you are a lying champion. At least you are good at that.
lark
We simply don’t have a government if the government is untrustworthy. That’s the bottom line. It means everyone has to run for cover and all the time spent by government is wasted time. 3.3 trillions wasted in a year.
If the government of China is trusted by the Chinese and the government of Russia is trusted by the Russians, how are we going to affect public policy worldwide if our government is not even trusted by us?
I think this administration and Congress is getting up there matching Kim Jung Ill and Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf, Saddams former minister of information.
Sassy
Dodd and the whole “kit and kaboodle” in Washington think as long as they keep talking, no one will catch their lies.
H*ll, it works most of the time!
People elect these jokers time and time again!
Dodd seems to have a preference for green ties…leaves him looking a little green around the gills!

Chris, Chris, Chris. There’s an easy chair awaiting you on your porch in Conn. Go quietly into the night.

Obama and the Democrats think they are at the top of the world with their buffoonery. But they are not.
You know, I am raising up this morning an alarm about this because contrary to the common belief, our economy is in very delicate situation, specially with energy. We better not look like we are loosing it. Because one thing is an oil embargo because of politics or policy and another is a loss of creditworthiness and trustworthiness as a debtor nation. And then the lines at the gas station will be twice as long as in the 70s.
You know, the Chinese and the Russians are not exactly joking around everyday showboating. Those people mean business. We better not look to them like we think we can befuddle them. I’m serious. This president better get with the game of knowing what he is doing or we can pay more than we are ready to even consider jokingly. This country can be brought down. We have powerful enemies out there.
Remember during the primary campaign when everyone was saying how the Democrats had an embarrassment of riches to chose from in their candidates? In retrospect, it turns out all of the candidates (save one) were just simple “embarrassments”.
While cleaning out my home office a few minutes ago, I came across an old Vote Democratic sign which was promptly tossed into File 13.

The only reason O is so “angry” is that he got caught again. But no worries, Dodd took the fall for him and O walks away – yet again – without a scratch. I wonder what O has on Dodd, et al, that they keep throwing themselves under the bus for him?
They’re all crooks, they’re all liars, they’re all pathetic human beings, and alibe, you’re right – we’re all f*cked.
Barack Obama was elected commander-in-chief promising to run the most transparent presidential administration in American history.
This achievement and the overall promise of his historic administration caused the National Newspaper Publishers Assn. to name him “Newsmaker of the Year.”
The president is to receive the award from the federation of black community newspapers in a White House ceremony this afternoon.
The Obama White House has closed the press award ceremony to the press.
From the president’s official schedule:
“Later in the afternoon, the President and the First Lady will attend a reception with the National Newspaper Publisher Association in the State Dining Room, where they will be presented the Newsmaker of the Year award. This event is closed press.”
Maybe they’ll let the newspaper people pass the award through the fence.

Good article (but scary)! Who knew the real journalists are only found at Rolling Stone????

ROFLMAO! That is perfection!

What crossed my mind when I read this post was that John McCain was/is right.
McCain even recently said that whenever you have government pork barrel and earmark waste you inevitably end up with corruption.
This $700 billion spending bill (let’s stop calling it stimulus)was never read by anyone, had every conceivable earmark/pork barrel program, and was recklessly ram rodded through the House and Senate with zero GOP votes except for 3 liberal GOP Senators.
This AIG clause is only the beginning of revelations that will surface over time about the corruption embedded into this bill.
It is only a matter of time before elected officials and their staff start doing the perp walk for either committing bad acts or covering them up.
Docelder
John McCain was/is right
Yes, he is right about a lot of things including Palin. There was a time we respected age and the wisdom that comes from it. We had better learn how to find that again.
Mark
Larry, please channel my anger. These assholes are an absolute fuc—- disaster. Everything they touch turns to shit.
What a bunch of rookies!
Now GITMO terrorists to be released in US?
Wonderful!
Name the policy and it is a disaster! Clean coal? No
Cut the military with China screwing with us? Yes
on and on and on.
My God.
lark
What puzzles me to no end, knowing that McCain had a swift chance of getting ahead of everyone just before his first debate, is why did McCain run his campaign with Joe Lieberman as his right hand consultant? Why did McCain folded during the Paulsen Turp negotiations in fall? Why? Who the heck advised him then on that? I am mortified by that.
jangles
They are all crooks. They are a circus. We would all be lmao but we see the specter of economic collapse on every street corner. And the jester in chief is flitting around the country playing with the toys of the POTUS.
termo
I am not sure if McCain was getting bad advice or ignoring good advice or both. He certainly made some major mistakes.
Seattle Moss
The democrats are Marxist scum…That’s right SCUM!!!!
They play bait and switch on employees and then Tax without representation.
What we have witnesses is McCarthyism at it’s worse.
Just say NO to the Herd mentality.
Pennsylvania Red
Whatever the case, it appears McCain totally abandoned his Maverick/Reformer persona at the most important moment in his political career.
Thanks a bunch, John Mac.

Some of the House Republicans had me roaring with laughter yesterday.
They eliminated Coleman and Franken as likely suspects!
We may as well laugh about some of this stuff.
The “big wheels” keep on rolling, and we get the shaft!
lark
You know, Seattle I am much more worried even if they are Marxist scum. Again one thing is to deal in policies and another to deal in competency. I would take a Marxist state if I could continue raising my family albeit as modestly as it would get. Another thing is risking the stability of our whole way of life and risking not depression but starvation and abject poverty.
If this Congress and Obama are not careful and it seems they aren’t, we could suddenly be faced with either taking over entire countries, which we will not do, probably, or accepting that we have driven this country into bankruptcy. Depression is a state of mind, but usually as a perception on others, not the depressed one. I am fearful the world is noticing we are not completely stable and may want to call our bluffs.

I had an idea this morning. What if we write up a document in which O resigns, then we put it in front of him and say “Mr. Obama, you are so wondeful, can I have your autograph, RIGHT HERE?”

what I think is really funny:
So is Larry a communist in disguise? Or he just cannot see what he really says? If big bussiness ALL THE TIME (and LAWFULLY) pays big money to USA politicians, ALL USA politicians are corrupt by default (not mentioning their bonafide defence of the rich against the poor because they are rich themselves)
Capitalism means rule of money, and money rules nevermind who is in a White House and Congress. They ALL are bought (or they are multy-mullioniars themselves, or both).
Objective Analysis
Americans are being hoodwinked. As they express outrage on AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Merrill Lynch are getting their bonuses and the stupid Congress are passing bills in the House to enact the Civilian National security force of young Americans to be loyal to Obama.
I can’t wait until the Next Tea Party. Time to through all these MF’s out. Every single one of them are traitors and deserve to be….
Well you know the rest.

haven’t read the article yet. But if Rolling Stone publishes anything in any way critical of Obama, it will be a first. There are no journalists at Rolling Stone.

When he “blinked” with Obama on the first debate standoff he effectively lost the election. What might have been.

While everyone’s attention was on AIG the house passed a bill 321-105 GIVE act. Mandatory volunteerism for the young people. It is on the way to the senate now.

I kept wondering during the primaries, why these guys endorsed Obama. And I kept thinking, “he’s got something on them.” And now crook after crook who backed Obama at a strategic time are unveiled.
Daschle, Dodd, Richardson, Edwards. WTF is up.
Usually when someone blackmails a pol to get them to act how they want, the crooked pol stays protected. This is a new one. The crooks who endrosed Obama are getting their dirty laundry aired.
I swear it feels like someone is having fun out there.
Kathleen Wynne
Obama was “selected” by the power oligarchy to be the puppet president. That’s why McCain did not “win”.
Also, FYI, all of these crooks aren’t “elected”, they are selected by the party leaders, just like obama was. The American people have to come to terms with the fact that our elections are a sham, an illusion, to make us feel like we live in a democracy.
Bottom line is, you can’t vote them out, if you didn’t vote them in. For the last 5+ years, the election reform community has been reporting that our elections are being gamed, rigged and even stolen due to totally useless voting systems, corrupt election officials and bad election practices and that the only way we stand a chance in taking back our country is to, first, take back our elections. It’s a simple solution, one that Congress and the voting machine manufacturers and the power elite never, never want to see happen — that is, a return to hand counted paper ballots, at the precinct on election night, with citizen oversight and participation AND NO TRANSPORTING OF BALLOTS TO ANOTHER LOCATION OR IN A BACK ROOM TO BE COUNTED IN PRIVATE!
So, until we understand this simple truth, idiots like Dodd and the majority of our so-called “elected” representatives will continue to bald face lie to the American people, because they know the only power the people have is the ballot box and they’ve gained total control over that too!!
Time for a revolution.
http://BREAKINGNEWS!! Oisafraud
NOW it’s making a lot more sense why the bankers poured a lot of Money on Obama during the election.

Likely suspects for what??I must have missed the boat on this one.
Wow! That’s an incredible article, alibe. Thanks for the link. It lays the whole thing out in understandable language. So, kudos for that. But scary as hell. And absolutely infuriating!!!
oowawa
Ha HA hA hA! This is really rich. Rolling Stone publishes an absolutely scathing article–and this is true journalism–but is trying to tippy-toe around the issue of Obama’s culpability in all this. But it is increasingly difficult to ignore the phony messiah behind the curtain! Towards the end of the article we see this tapdance:
It might not bode well that Geithner, Obama’s Treasury secretary, is one of the architects of the Paulson bailouts
Duh—-It just might not “bode well.” It won’t be long before even Rolling Stone breaks out the torches and pitchforks!
candymarl
“Chris Dodd Ignorant”. The header could have stopped there. Just sayin’.
I kind of disagree on one aspect. If foreign countries perceive Obama, Congress and this administration not only in disarray and incompetent but trying to pass one over them, they will stop their niceties and begin asking for either gold or show us the finger.
Obama and Congress better start looking solid, which seems simply wishful thinking, or we better start getting ready for the unthinkable. I’m telling you.
Murray
Amazing story. I’m going out today to buy a copy of Rolling Stone!
Peggy Sue
You’re right Helen. AIG bonuses are taking up the headlines and airtime while behind the scenes Congress is in stealth mode: mandatory volunteerism and the Fed pumps $1 trillion dollars into Treasury to purchase debt and fund programs with money we don’t have.
And then, they have the nerve to cry in outrage over Bernie Madoff? This is the Ponzi Scheme of the Universe. The crooks work for us and they want to social engineer at the same time. Big money and power, the ugly stepsisters.
We’re being taken to the cleaners. We need to wake up, quick!

“they are selected by the party leaders”
My first Presidential election was in 1976. Fresh out of collage I wanted to get involved in the political process and joined by local Democratic Party Club. It was just prior to our primary and I researched all of the candidates, because they announced a meeting to “discuss” what candidate the club should endorse.
The meeting featured only one speaker – the state campaign manager for Jimmy Carter. The club leaders were following the instructions of the county party leader who was following the instructions of the state party leader. Carter was our candidate – no discussion – no vote.
You are very right that, even with term limits, voters have no real choice during elections.
Inside the Beltway there is virtually no difference between a Republican or a Democrat – they both enjoy the same lifestyle and benefits – and they both take from the same corporate donors. The animosity we see on TV between the GOP and Democrats is a show to keep their charade going.
Diana
That’s so true Sassy and I honestly don’t understand it. We can’t change what is happening in Washington till we change the landscape of Washington. We just keep sending the same people over and over into office. How many have gotten rich sitting up there? How is that possible on their salaries? How many millionaires do have sitting up there? These people understand the struggles of the average American? Pfft.
I’m starting to agree with my husband he said first to fix this mess we have to vote against the incumbent. Vote every last one of them out. Doesn’t matter the political lines. Once things are shaken up then we can start to vote for people again.

Don’t blame me. I voted for the woman!
I know Fox News leans right a majority of the time when reporting but on Tuesday they were dead solid perfect as to how the AIG folks got their bonus money. One and only Chris Dodd inserted a lil something, something that allowed for this to happen. Fox was all over this. Now to give CNN a chance to report. I happen to chance the Situation Room and over those three hours there was nothing reported about Dodd inserting this into the bill. The only one that said anything about it was Ed Gillispe while he was on the Stratergy Room. Did Wolf ask him anything further? NO! CNN did not report any of this as to whom was to fault until Wednesday and then Thursday after the dems got into a circle and began firing at each other as who was to blame then I knew CNN is still a shill for Obama.
Or as Rep Maxine Waters said,”Obama acts like he does not know what is going on with AIG and the country’s economic woes. He is clueless.”3-20-09
I do thank you

Larry, I wonder how many “ordinary” people really understand that Chris Dod AND Baracks Obummer received such generous sums from AIG!
Them “ordinary” folk referred to are the hoi polloi, you know, the ones “who just sit at their kitchen table and DON’T talk about AIG…they just talk about their losing their jobs”. Cause you know they’re just too bloody stupid to KNOW what’s going on with THEIR money and understand that the Prez Oblabla and his Turbo-Taxin’ Treasurer Timmy have screwed up big time–almost as much as that other moron Dubbya Bush II…
Guess it’s show time for the THIRD BUSH TERM, eh?
mary
Yes!
I wish Larry would look into this if he’s got some time, but I’ve read yesterday in a foreign mag. (Canadian, eh!) that The O’Bummer Prez of the Awakening People sent a letter to FORMER French President Chirac, bypassing (and thus ‘slapping’ Sarkozy who can’t stand Obummer and called him “immature”) French Prez Sarkozy! Is it a joke…If this is true, he’s alienated Brown of hte UK and now France?
You can take the guy from the political sewers of Chicago–but you CAN’T take the political sewers of Chicago out of the guy…..
Love Chris Dodd’s “lyin’ ways”….so TRANSPARENT–like Obummer’s Prezidency, eh?!!@!!
Thanks, Larry,for this memorable vid….amazing

This Canadian “Financial Post” is an organ of the National Post–a newspaper whose extreme right-wing bias keeps an incompetent Bush-friendly neocon like Steven Harper in power, although a very slim minority government, thank God. The Liberals and the New Democratic Party are onto to his neocon agenda and he won’t stay there long!
The National Post’s writer is histrionic and pro-business as usual. The same guys who praised Bush’s dumb theories and economic and foreign agendas, so don’t pay attention to them.
Although, admittedly, there’s a wonderful description of the Obama presidency and congress as “circus” and fully ‘dysfunctional’. I agree. But not with his scary tactics to make sure the corporate cats and big corpoirations have their way!
Read the Globe and Mail and better still the Toronto Daily Star! And don’t forget the CBC–the best source of balanced perspective that gives you the real news and what your not-so-foreign Canadian cousins are thinking…
