Update on DailyKos Writers Strike

Wow – I never expected this kind of a reaction to my declaration of independence from DailyKos last night but it seems I wasn’t the only one who’s sick and tired of being sick and tired over the hate, ignorance and hostility directed at Hillary and her supporters.  Now I won’t link it here as I normally would because I don’t want to drive traffic to the site, but my post made it up on to the Recommended list with over 60 recs, and well over 1200 comments posted (good, bad and meta). I hear they eventually had to shut off comments for fear of the site crashing because of it all.

First I want to thank everyone who signed on to our strike.  This will only work though if we stick to it and stay away from DailyKos, guys.  No lurking.  No peeking in.  No tipping, rec’ing, commenting and for god(dess) sake – no diaries.  They get no traffic from us.  No ad revenues.  Not until they stop the hateful attacks, misrepresentations of Hillary and her record, and outright lies about her long record of dedicated public service.

I think it’s important for us to thank Jerome for providing us exiles with a calm and reasoned place for us to exchange ideas and discuss the important issues of the day.  He not only left up my cross-post here knowing I was calling for a walkout from his friend’s site, but he went and recommended my diary over there to tell everyone that he agreed with what I was trying to do – bring attention to the poisonous atmosphere in the hopes that DailyKos will one day return to it’s roots by promoting all good and decent Democratic candidates.

The best way we can thank Jerome and the others here at MyDD is to keep it cool when we post here.  Try out best to ignore the spammers and haters, and follow our candidate’s example by sticking to the issues and staying out of the flame-wars.

And if you haven’t yet joined our new Yahoo discussion group – Hillary’s Voice – I’d like to extend an invitation to all of her supporters her to join us in our effort to get the word out about Hillary’s terrific record of public service over the past 35 years.  We set this up about a month ago and we already have about 260 members in our group.  Just send us a request to join and we’ll get you set up.

Hillary’s Voice

Now I’ve gotten quite a few emails over the past 24 hours.  Some are from the haters who say eff you I hope you all die but hey, I expected that.  I won’t bother posting them here but I think they draw a sharp contrast between Obama’s and Hillary’s supporters.  I don’t know about you but I would never think to send a nasty note to someone simply because I disagree with their choice of candidate.  Apparently, his supporters saw fit to send me nasty notes though (one guy even sent several!).

But I’ve also gotten some warm and wonderful notes from people hoping to join our “strike”.  I thought it’d be great to share a few here…

A sincere thank you for standing up and saying what needed to be said over on DailyKos!  I’ve been a longtime reader of the site (never registered, and never read comments), and I have become dismayed by what has happened to the discourse on that site – both in the diaries, and more disturbing, on the front page.  A front page post several weeks ago attacking – of all things – Chelsea Clinton’s appearance put me over the edge once and for all and I haven’t visted the site since…at least not until today when I saw your diary linked to on Realclearpolitics.com…the only political news site I now read.

The mainstream media has its drawbacks, but I simply couldn’t stomach the rabid anti-Clinton rhetoric and HRC witch hunts underway on that site. I am deeply disheartened to see “Democrats” treating other Democrats that way.  To see people (indeed, commissioned “diarists”) on that site openly question one’s progressive credentials simply because they support a different Democratic candidate, well, its enormously upsetting.

I wish you all the best, and would love to continue reading your posts in another forum.

I too have been appalled by the left wing’s anti Hillary invective. It is sad, but I believe true, that throughout the civil rights movement, just like the fight for women’s suffrage, the “enlightened” men still maintain their patriarchal prerogative to deny women the first seat at the table. During the civil rights movement our brothers denied us an equal voice, and as you know, the feminist movement was born.

I have not forgotten that Fredrick Douglas, a black man, insisted on putting the rights of black men to vote ahead of women’s right to vote, effectively splitting the abolitionist’s and suffrage movement in two. Men always seem to say, let us go first and then we will help you. Then they don’t. This has rankled me since Senator Obama began his campaign. I also find him condescending when he address’s anything about Senator Clinton. There have been too many instances of character assassinations from his camp that exemplify deeply held sexist beliefs.

I left reading MSM information a few years ago, but what I have been subjected too about Senator Clinton has been disgusting. Then I discovered that the left blog, news, and magazines has had the same type of Hillary hate that the right has had. I keep thinking that it is just the same old crap, that has been around since recorded history. They talk a good game until a Hillary steps forward and then men, and the women who imitate them, will do everything they can to keep women from the top roles.

I am, frankly, sickened by it all. It makes me feel that radical feminism needs to be revived en mass and re-taught to our young sisters, who are ignorant and in denial, and re-acknowledged as a continuing struggle by all Americans.

Thank you for your principled stand against Daily Kos. It needed to be done.

Blessings and Peace,

I have been commenting at Eschaton for a year and a half as Tacitus Voltaire. Recently, like you, I notified (privately, not publicly like you did) some of the prominent posters there that I could no longer bear to hear the incessant drumbeat of Hillary hating and vilifying that cannot be stopped even there, despite the best efforts of myself and some senior commenters there. Criticising is one thing – but there is a difference between saying “I think Hillary is going over the line with this remark” and “This vile spew proves yet again that Hillary is nothing but a republican and unfit for public office. I will never vote for her if she is nominated.” To me, it is as if these progressive blog commenters, Big Ed on Air America, Chris Matthews, and Keith Olberman, have suddenly become demonically possessed by Rush Limbaugh, and have started to issue the kind of hate filled rhetoric against a democrat that formerly we have only heard from the right wing hate machine.

I found a link to you manifesto on Talk Left, where I have retreated as well. It made me very happy to see that even a prominent Kos commenter such as yourself has come to the same point of view. At Eschaton, some non-Hillary-Haters have taken to calling Kos The Daily Obama. Normally, our affectionate nickname for Kos at Eschaton is The Great Orange Satan.

Please count me among the supporters of your “J’Accuse” manifesto! The progressive movement and the Democratic Party can and will survive and overcome this incubus of hate that can only have Karl Rove chuckling in glee. The ideals we have inherited from great progressive presidents such as FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and the better side of LBJ, are too securely ingrained in the fabric of what it means to be an american to be obliterated by this internecine disaster.

You have made an important contribution to an important debate. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Lastly, I thought I’d update you on who’s picked up on our strike.  This isn’t the be-all and end-all of lists, but it’s a start.  If some of these sites are new to you please visit them now and then and let them know our strike’s still going strong!

Way excellent job, Alegre! Your Hillary’s Voice site is a joy! Thanks!

The KOS/Obama jerk-fest got OLD a LONG time ago. too bad – and now Huffpo has become an idiot’s paradise . . . seems logic and intelligent discourse (even decent wit) is hard to come by . . . please keep “them” away from here.

  • DisenfranchisedVoter

Congrats Alegre for bringing attention to this problem at DailyKos. I never really knew about the site until January when I started looking up pro-Hillary blogs to go to after getting fed up with the MSM.

And yes, donate, donate, donate. Ignore DailyKos, the MSM, Pelosi, Brazile, Dean, and the trolls who write hateful comments on our pro-Hillary blogs. Just donate as much as you can and keep your eyes on the prize!

Congratulations. I am sure Mr. Moulitsas does not like having Daily Kos criticized with such dignified indignation in the public arena.

    M. Moulitsas’s opposition to HRC is based on very little other than his perception that she is DLC. I don’t think he has a really understanding of what the DLC is. Moulitsas implies that HRC is the DLC candidate – this is true in his own mind only.

  • Over It

While, on the one hand, I totally agree with your assessment that the nastiness at DailyKos has gotten ridiculous….you negate any credibility you might have by your continuing to support sites such as Hillaryis44.com and Taylor Marsh’s site. Both of those sites are nothing but nasty when it comes to another Democrat (in this case…Obama). MyDD is really not all that much better…again the vitriol is more directed towards Obama. I think that the nastiness from ‘Democrats’ towards fellow Democrats should be decried no matter which direction it is being pointed. It’s wrong on Daily Kos….and equally wrong on MyDD, Hillaryis44 and Taylor Marsh. HIllary supporters are just as guilty of the ridiculous behavior on blogs as Obama supporters are. Yet another way the two of them are alike!

I’ve noticed at DK that Sen. Obama’s supporters (and Sen. Edwards) can dish it out but cannot take it!

  • GodDamnAmerica

When it comes to vitriol, nothing compares to our beloved Rev Wright, right? Remember, he trashed other democrats, such as Hillary and Bill in his sermon, or maybe we can quote beloved Louis Farrakhan (who endorsed Obama) – these two white people are potential human, they haven’t evolved yet.

    Vitriol, yes, beat that!

  • BloggerBoyz

Democrats will never learn. They spew hatred at the voters they need, then are astonished when they lose elections. I understand that many of them don’t object to misogynist and classist bile on principle, but as a practical matter? Apparently they either believe they somehow own the votes of the people they call “Archie Bunker” etc or they think actual voters are outnumbered by bloggers and party hacks.

  • Northwest rain

I left dKos a long time ago because of the sexism.

This same sort of misogynistic behavior by males happened during the Vietnam anti war movement back in the 70s. Shut up women — stay in your place. And thus the women’s movement began. It seems like it is time again for another women’s movement — because as Hillary Clinton pointed out — Women’s rights ARE human rights.

Let dKos die a natural death — other better blogs will take its place. I won’t be returning.

  • lizpolaris

You just couldn’t be more wrong. I’ve read commenters and diarists from both Obama and Clinton camps.

There’s no comparison – many Obama supporters have lost their objectivity and their decency. Hatred, invective, and mob-trolling behavior are rampant. Apologia for undefensible statements (God Damn America, and Obama gave the man $250K?) won’t win any converts to a candidate.

In contrast, Clinton supporters usually attempt to make comments backed by facts and evidence. But yes, we’re darn tired of the Hillary-bashing Obama followers. So we call them a name – Obamabots. Ohh, that’s really negative. Yeah, let’s equate that with threatening to unseat black representatives who dare to support Clinton, instead of the black candidate. Racism anyone?

Another typical ploy of Obama followers (and Republicans) – equating a minor slight with eggregious behavior.

  • kenoshaMarge

Stopped going to kos a long time ago. Aside from nastiness that passes for discourse, they also seemed to have the same lack of principals as the right-wingers. Seemed to me that they didn’t so much dislike the tactics as they disliked the tactics directed in the wrong direction. Regard their willingness now to disenfranchise the voters of two states if it would have a negative affect on their candidate. Tell me how this is different than the Republicans?

They don’t appear to like older citizens anymore than they like women. Kinda dumb for people that think they’re so much smarter than the rest of us.

  • http://takeaction.wordpress.com/ A.Citizen

This is the sort of Neanderthal mental state that one expects to find at RedState. Not at a progressive site. ‘Dishing it out…’ and ‘Taking it…’ are phrases associated with the fearful, authoritarian mindset of the ‘conservative’ ReichWing as described by Bob Altermeyer. They evince a diseased and weak mind.

Such attitudes as you express, sir, have no place in the progressive movement.

Short form: Crawl back under yer rock ya miserable little punk no one wants to hear from such as you.

  • hells kitchen

    Alegre,

It will be so easy to not go back.

However, I went back one more time to rec your diary.

I read your diary here because I hadn’t been back to Kos, but I wanted to add my handle to the rec list.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Xeno

You’ve been fighting the good fight, Allegre, both in continuing to post positive diaries on Orange State and in finally leaving in protest. I would have signed on to your writers’ strike over there, but I actually started my boycott much earlier. I’m so disgusted with the place that I refuse to even sign in again, though I did go over and read your diary at the source. (The comments I left unread because I’m sick of the viciousness.)

This is one blog controversy that I’m glad to see the mainstream media pick up on. From my point of view, nothing could be better than for the mighty kos empire to collapse. Those people seem to forget that last summer, when Bill O’Reilly was attacking dkos, Hillary Clinton not only attended their stinking convention but sent Wolfson out to defend them. Where was their precious Obama then? Ducking the controversy and their get-together, as he always does. Of course, the true believers let him slide on the fact that he can’t even bring himself to be seen in their presence, much less speak a word in their defense. The slogan IOKIYAR has been supplanted by IOKIYAO, without any self-consciousness or irony.

That site’s descent into the sewers of anti-Clinton and anti-Democratic filth is not unexpected, but the viciousness of the rhetoric there is shocking. Nothing could be more fitting than to see the kos “brand” damaged by the vile tone he has not only allowed but encouraged.

  • Xeno

Do you remember the infamous Pie Fight? That was a huge, flashing neon sign that kos is a misogynist. The stuff he said about women then (along with a whole lot of nonsense about Dirty F*cking Hippies) should have served as a warning about what would happen during this election cycle. Kos’s utter contempt for all women was a clear signal that he would put all of his resources into opposing this one particular woman who dared to run for president. Perhaps he’s symbolically putting all women in their place, in his twisted little mind.

  • Wendy!

I am fascinated to see what is going on in the blog world. I remember political blogs starting out as a reaction to corporate run media pushing a narrow agenda. Blogs, especially progressive blogs, were trying to dig up the truth and expose it…give a wider view…tell the truth.

With some very well known blogs…like Daily Kos…beating just one drum…I wonder if they’ve become something like the thing they were reacting to? Instead of corporate run media pushing a narrow agenda, they are now progressive run media pushing a narrow agenda. They gloss over or excuse the details about the candidate they support while parsing every word to death spoken by Hillary Clinton or anyone even remotely associated with her in order to, as Alegre pointed out so perfectly, “[misrepresent]…Hillary and her record, and outright [lie] about her long record of dedicated public service”.

I join you in your boycott of Daily Kos. I’ve already been turning the channel whenever he’s a guest on Air America or during his POTUS08 radio show. I believe he and others like him have lost site of why they started blogging in the first place and they’ve probably become the very thing they used to hate.

  • Shainzona

I respect you opinion but, speaking for myself, I still have so much anger inside of me for the past two and a half months, that I NEED some Taylor Marsh et al every day.

I would also note a number of other great blogs that I have discovered through our HillarysVoice group to which I now turn every day.

Start at Anglachel’s Journal and just tour her new updated blog roll. (I used to start my day with DKos and then tune in through his blog roll – which because of the Writer’s Strike I no longer will do). There are a ton of really good writers out there who give us things to think about…which is all good!

I’m a proud member of the DKos Writers Union!

BTW, I’ve also stopped going to TPM and DU, for the most part…DU, just check quick headlines, but TPM is a real no-no since he “fired” the woman professor!!

As for me…I will come out now…I did the Media Watch and then the World Media Watch and World Energy Watch for Buzzflash since 2001 on a volunteer basis…but a month ago, when things started getting very “jump the shark” I “resigned” gracefully. I am APPALLED at the mass hysteria on these blogs!!!

  • Bluesage

I used to visit DKos daily to read the post and the comments but was very turned off by the vitriol I was reading against Hillary. Many of the comments were really disgusting calling her foul names. So I just quit visiting the site.

Another site that I quit is Americablog. John Aravosis has gone completely insane and his followers are rabid Obama supporters. Really disgusting stuff there too. I suggested he rename his site “Obamablog – Because the Nation deserves Freeperville Left” on my last day there and was banned. LOL I’m proud of that.

  • John

I know it’s totally off topic, but I just saw an ad on during the Chris Matthews show for something called the Competitive Energy Institute– “Al Gore and his friends have a bright future, but what about the rest of us?”- apparently Gore’s fight for energy conservation would deprive impoverished people of electricity.

Ad shows a beaming Gore (and his Hollywood buddies, of course) as the lights go off everywhere. Then it shows an African village getting it’s first streetlight. And we are shown all the Great Things Energy Provides- Lights for our kids to read by! Tractors to harvest food with! Incubators for preemies! And Al Gore wants to deprive us of all this and make us live in huts!

Good fricking lord, is there no shame? Gore’s campaign to reduce our global imprint means….African villages must sit in the dark and starve to death? I guess I just answered my own question about shame, didn’t I?

    Competitive Energy Institute- Bullshit Artists.

This ad was just plain gross.

  • John

Bill Bradley on Tim Russert: “Last night Barack won ten more delegates in Iowa..” Um, no he didn’t. Edwards delegates decided to support him. He didn’t “win” anything.

“Barack gained more aggregate delegates in Wyoming and Idaho and Mississippi than Hillary did in Ohio and Texas..” that’s an argument AGAINST your candidate, not FOR him, you dumbass.

Why is Bill Bradley even on television anymore? And talking about primaries yet…how many primaries and caucuses did Bradley win in 2000 again?

Earlier, Eugene Robinson on Matthews, answering the question “is it possible that the popular vote WILL determine how the Superdelegates vote?”–

    “Well, that’s the nightmare scenerio..”

Yep, having the Superdelegates choose the person who won the most Democratic votes in the primary contests overall is a “nightmare scenerio.” Only if you are a rabid, Anything-to-Win Obamabot. God what a poser.

  • kenoshaMarge

The Obama bias at BuzzFlash just about broke my heart. I was there every day and had a letter posted in the mailbag nearly as often. I protested what they were doing a couple of times and then left. For Good! Their blog, their right to screw it up.

However, having lost faith in their integrity I can never go back. If they are willing to use unethical behavior in support of their candidate I regard them as no more credible than any right wing blog. It is really very sad.

  • eurogirl70

In places like Africa and India, the use of solar energy is giving these villages the chance to have clean energy, that does not require their remote villages to incur the expense of being hooked up to electrical grids. I just recently read about a village in India that has been hooked up with solar paneling, and the villagers themselves were shown how to maintain them easily. No need for equipment or tools they do not have. In fact one man who has been given the task of keeping the panels operational, hoped to one day pass the trade onto his young daughter.

Most of these rural villages are so cut off, there are no roads that would give an electric company the capability of coming in and hooking them up in the first place.

That is why Obams is for nuclear power…you know the “clean air” energy! Just don’t look down at your glowing feet!!

  • tiffany

I, too , have joined the long list of refugees. Let’s not forget John Aravosis. His Americablog has been out of control and he no longer makes sense. I have no problem with criticizing Hillary or Obama, but let’s be honest and factual. John and others have become deceptive and dishonest. I sometimes wonder if they have been paid to support Obama and bash Hillary the way the Bush people paid many in the media to support his agenda. Example: Armstrong Williams was paid 250,000 to talk up No Child Left Behind on his radio show.

  • Xeno

John Aravosis, like kos and Arianna Huffington, is a republican who only became a Democrat from expediency. Aravosis was, in fact, a staffer with the reactionary repub Sen. Ted Stevens for five years before leaving the party solely because of its stance in gay rights. (Kos (allegedly) crossed over because of the Iraq War, and Arianna did so because she saw the potential for profit in becoming a “liberal” demagogue.) Aravosis doesn’t hold any progressive ideals beyond his advocacy of gay rights. His advocacy of Obama can be attributed to the fact that the big O is more conservative than Clinton, and he’s male.

Frankly, I see Aravosis, kos and Huffington as repubs in sheep’s clothing, if you will. For them, joining the progressive movement is more about personal gain (financial or political) than it is about the values true progressives hold dear. If the republicans would accept gays (Aravosis), oppose the war (kos) and offer them money and political clout (all three), they would return to their first party in a heartbeat. For now, though, they are making a pretty good living exploiting online progressive activism and subverting the energy of their devotees to their own ends.

  • kenoshaMarge

Isn’t it sad that Eugene Robinson would lower himself to say something like that? I used to think him a fine journalist and a man of integrity. This primary is knocking a lot of liberals off their pedestals and showing a whole lot of feet of clay.

Great job, Alegre. I used to check Dkos a few times weekly. No more hits from me. Since your diary, I’ve even deleted my link to the big Orange. I’ve already migrated here from another lefty blog that has become a center for Hillary bashing. That one really hurt… I’ve been there for years. It was my homepage. No more.

  • bbln

Alegre, thank you for your courage, and thank you all who are boycotting DK and the writers who are striking. I commented at the NYT’s article that DailyKos has become the Lord of the Flies – and has not setup any checks and balances, and therefore, the “majority” (or what seems to be the most vocal contingent) are enforcing their tyranny. If Markos were running a society, it would be an utter failure – and the minorities would be ostracized and bullied.

He’s an embarrassment – to say that all those leaving can setup shop elsewhere because the internet is vast – instead of acknowledging his own failed leadership.

  • John

I have a question for all the Obama fans who argue that what the Rev. Wright said was “actually pretty accurate” and that it reflects “the black experience in America” and that attacking him is just “racism at it’s worst” ( I have read or heard all of these comments on other blogs, Air Obama, etc:)

If all that you say is true, then why don’t you demand that your Straight-Talking, Words Matter, New Kind of Politician Hero actually STAND UP for his good friend the Reverend and DEFEND WHAT HE SAID? You know, instead of pretending that he barely knows the man and had NO IDEA he had said such things and certainly doesn’t subscribe to any of them…

Seems like the Obamabots are really trying to have it both ways.

I remember when he was a Senator telling the middle/working class that they were being taken because of loopholes for the rich. He demonstrated by telling of all the advantages he had as a high-priced ball player.

His answer? Cutting out the tax benefits of IRA investment for the middle/working class.

    Bah! What a hypocrit.

Huffington, like the others of the “left” set out to be an alternative to Big Media tricks, slime, propaganda, at least that’s how I saw it.

Over the past year, I noticed that the front pages uses exactly the same tricks, slime, propaganda as Big Media. And I’m not talking just about the relentless Obama advocacy and Clinton hatred.

The Big Media cancer has metastasized into the left blogosphere. The days of the few and the mighty and the “influential” are over. Humpty Dumpty will not be put together after this.

Many people commenting here have said that they had already stopped going to dKos, so that lending their support to a boycott is merely additional. It’s also a voluntary thing. No one is forcing you to not go to dKos.

The point is that dKos is no longer what it once was.

There was a time when the rec list had interesting policy diaries where you could learn from people with a background/expertise, could exchange ideas without being ridiculed or insulted.

People who are staying away are not into the “if you’re not for me, you’re against me” frame of mind.

Before Iowa, although there were groups who preferred each of the candidates, almost everyone said that they were proud of the quality of candidates the Democrats had on offer. This was not just being said about Clinton, Edwards, and Obama, but about all the candidates regardless of the low probability for some of them getting enough votes.

It’s only after Iowa, and especially after Edwards suspended his campaign so that there were only two candidates left, that things got ugly.

  • lauren

This is why John Edwards ran.

He knew the stuff about Obama would finally come out.

He knew about the Hillary haters and the misogyny.

He was the most electable Democrat and the progressive blogosphere sat on its hands and refused to recognize it.

I predicted in January that this primary would destroy Daiy Kos, and it has.

What a very scary time this is.

  • MikeyBoyCA

This has just gone too far. First, it’s guilt by association, then guilt by invective, then false charges from both sides.

At least Larry is up front about his hatred for Obama, if a bit over the top, but this has just got to stop.

If the candidates won’t stick to issues, the blogosphere must force them to. Do this instead of fanning the flames and that’s how we’ll take back our government.

It’s a deplorable fact that negativity wins elections. As a former Edwards, now Obama supporter, I have hope that positivity can overcome this same fact, but Hillary and her advisors seem bent on winning with a scorched earth campaign. This can only leave the Democrats too weak to defeat Bush’s third term annointee in the general.

Wake up people! Stop all the pissing contests, strikes and invective. Work on positive change, not negative.

    “Pissing contests”?

    lol

  • Gloria

I didn’t want my name associated with the stuff that started going on. I think it’s still on the list of columnists at the bottom of the page, but at least I’m not there in headlines 4 days a week….

  • Gloria

I keep dreaming of Edwards being given the nomination by acclamation….sigh. Too bad it’s just a dream….

  • BloggerBoyz

Yes, and what’s hilarious is that ‘pie fight’ is synonymous not with ‘time when kos and his followers’ unhinged ravings alienated half their members’ but with ‘time when a bunch of wide eyes hysterics got upset over nothing.’ I’ve watched a million people try to explain that it wasn’t the damn ad, it was the frat boy explosion of hate that followed someone objecting to the ad, but they just ignore it and keep repeating their bs.

  • BloggerBoyz

Uh, I don’t see any threats for going to dkos. Do whatever you want, but I won’t support a site that thinks it’s okay to propagate bigotry against half the population. What is being pointed out is that just clicking on the page without posting anything provides ad revenue for kos, which is something many people don’t know. With that valuable information, people can decide whether they want to visit or not.

  • simon

I want a black president; however, I don’t want this black to be president

    .

Thank you, me too, just not this one…

  • simon

    scorched earth?

You’re not seeing things realistically, calm down, don’t get hysterical, Mikeyboy.

The harder they come, the harder they fall, one in all…

  • simon

Good fricking lord, is there no shame?

It’s a psy ops tactic, the dirty rotten bastards club.

“They” (RNC stooges) think it makes them look tough, but they think a lot of things, none of which are true.

Which should explain the losses, despite their arrogance.

  • simon

but they just ignore it and keep repeating their bs.

Dick Cheney and crew fight a middle east war, you’re saying, just as thick, and just as incompetent.

They are so psychologically screwed up (and I wanted to say, F, but I didn’t strawberry, !) they make a psy ops dream.

They should be nowhere NEAR the Presidency of America.

    Remember Oliver North?

They’re like that, but not as smart.

  • simon

God Damn America, and Obama gave the man $250K?)

    You mean 22, 500, right?

  • MikeyBoyCA

OK, Simon, what would you call the HC campaign’s methodology. Calm down, indeed.

  • BloggerBoyz

Can you give an example or more of her “scorched earth” tactics? Still the mean mean meanest ever seen ad? Going to PA blaming Michelle, as the last Democratic President, for their economic problems? Having her campaign urrogate Bradley on MTP accusng Michele of being a crook with a corrupt admin? That would be a bit divisive, I’ll grant you that. Democrats hate that.

  • BloggerBoyz

What about going on Olbermann or a friedly kiss up the day after he compared Obama to Hitler and failing to rebuke him? Yeah, I was skeptical, but I’ve got to grant you that’s all tending to tear this party apart.

  • Athena

DK has abandoned all credibility as a progressive voice, degenerating into a juvenile circus bent on destroying Clinton.

  • mimi

Half-black…. why is that never mentioned? I mean, for crying out loud, he was raised by his mother and grandparents in Hawaii. He was a mulatto kid in an environment filled with native Hawaiians his color. He saw his father twice in his lifetime. So how is he sociologically and culturally connected to the black community? He’s not! The hysteria coming out of the community is one of perception, of the belief that he’s one of us.

Well, one of us wouldn’t be so casual about stoking the racist flames, knowing full well there’s a lot of work to be done and the last thing we need is for racism not to be taken seriously. He has fanned the flames not for the purpose getting a meaningful dialogue going on racial issues, but simply because he wants to be POTUS. And he’ll do ANYTHING to get elected.

I’d have more respect for him if had stood his ground about the comments Wright made dealing with how blacks feel in terms of discrimination. (I do feel the 9/11 remarks are unforgiveable along with a minister using ‘God Dammned in any context.) But Obama threw Wright under the bus when he was backed into a corner. I wonder how long it’s going to take for blacks to realize that he’ll do the same to us?

I never bought into this bi-racial candidate ever! And he’s proving me right!

  • yttik

Something that occurs to me, if DKos was an employer what he is allowing would be called a hostile work environment. It’s sexual harassment.

I’m an employer and if I allowed harassment, intimidation, or personal attacks because of someones race or gender, I could be sued. Especially if my lack of action allowed a hostile workplace to continue and caused people not to want to come to work.

I’m not suggesting any lawsuits, LOL. I just think it’s important to acknowledge that this kind of stuff is serious and damaging and that we’ve tried to pass laws protecting people from it. It’s part of the Civil Rights Act.

So a strike is quite appropriate.

  • MikeyBoyCA

OK, nuff said by all of you. The point’s been made.

BloggerBoyz just cited some very good examples of the HC policy I mentioned, but LJ should call DK on this whole issue and resolve it. Period.

Striking another blogger’s site (ANY other progressive blogger) just fans the flames and can’t you just imagine Carl and Rush and Sean and Billo with their cheshire cat grins while we Democrats self destruct on negativity?

We need to wake up, smell the coffee and force the issues upon the candidates while removing the character assaults on all sides. Homey don’t play that. Not this year, not ever.

    Thanks for listening.

  • nemo

I left off reading (I’m a lurker) Kos quite a while ago, then Aravosis, Huffpo, and many others. Now that the ugliness has been exposed (and not countered by the moderators), I will not be going back, even after the general election. I don’t need the left-wing version of Free Repulbic, thanks.

  • http://apocwire.com Demagitator

I was banned by DU; and then I started to boycott Dailykos, recently. Being flamed at DU, basically was a way of life for me –especially when I initiated the controversial tsunami HARRP theory.

I think it would help people to understand that “ultra liberalism” does not mix well with the Republican Party or the Democratic Party –just at it did not mix well with the Nazi party.,.. read about Franz Jägerstätter, in Germany whom was beheaded by the Nazis because he refused to join the Army.

And, he was very unpopular in Germany – so with Limbaugh equating liberalism with the Dem’s was and is a great disservice to the English language, because most of the people at Dailykos or DU, etc., are not liberal Democrats, they are simply Democrats.

JFK was a liberal Democrat, but what made him a great president was that he had the fundamental skill of a liberal, which is the ability to face difficult issues (Courage) – todays liberals; again are not liberals evidenced by the fact the 99.9% of Liberal Dem’s are to afraid to call themselves liberals, by even uttering the word liberal.

Thus, if they are to afraid to utter the word liberal , they would then be to afraid to utter the great principles of liberalism.

  • Emmy

Yes, but it unfortunately is probably inevitable in this country: Men of color had suffrage over 100 years before women of any color/race, a man of color will become President of the U.S. long before a woman ever will.

Nothing has changed, there has been no progress. How sad.

As for Clinton bashing by Democrats, it’s everywhere. Democratic Underground ought to change their name to Obama Underground. Talk about eating your own!
What IS it with this Dem. cult of personality craziness? It’s getting as bad as the aggressive fanaticism the early Republicans had for Dubya.
    It’s downright disturbing.

And the way some supposed Democrats treat other of their party is shameful. For the first time in my life I’m starting to think of leaving the party, these aren’t people I’m proud of being in the same group with.
