Obama’s Choice for Michigan [Critical Update]

UPDATE / THIS IS A MUST-READ:Obama’s Plot to Remove His Name from Michigan Ballot,” by Universal, in the recommended list at MyDD.com. The writer quotes from the highly respected blog TalkLeft:

[T]he removal (of Barack’s name from the Michigan ballot) was an attempted power play by Obama because he knew he could not run well in Michigan and thought that the pressure of Iowa (protect the whole first thing) would allow him to shut down the possibility of a Michigan beauty contest being deemed meaningful. And indeed Obama’s hardball ploy worked. Michigan was not covered.

The key point? “There was NO impetus from the DNC for Obama to remove his name, and he seems to be the mastermind behind the idea (which Edwards and Richardson agreed to later). …” PLEASE: Read ALL of Universal’s diary, and then share it, and the video below, with everyone you know.

Now check out how Obama is operating in Pennsylvania, which has a CLOSED primary for Democrats only.

Obama is openly exhorting Independents and Republicans to register as “Democrats for a day” and vote for him in PA. Watch for yourselves:

– From “Does what we are doing here matter? [Update].”

So much for leaving behind “politics as usual.”

without any campaigning Uncommitted received 40+% of the Michigan democratic primary.

    • BloggerBoyz

There was a hell of a lot of campaigning by Obama surrogates pushing the Uncommitted option.

    • Elaine

Yes, but it is a good thing that that 40+ uncommitted wasn’t ALL for Obamma. How many of those wwant Edwards for first choice, but would vote for Hillary if Edwards were not in, how many for Kucinich but Hillary would be their second, etc . How many other candidates were still in the race back then. So I guess what would be fair is Hillary gets an automatic 60% that she won plus halve of the 40% uncommitted and barack would get the other half. So it is what? Hillary 80% and Barack 20%? Yeah, works for me!

    • Shainzona

Without any campiagning Hillary Clinton received 55% of the vote.

      Tit for tat!

    • truthteller2007

a lot of campaigning for uncommitted by edwards and obama surrogates.

you are really out of touch with michigan and michigan values.

    • Xavier

LOTS of campaigning. And he’s from the neighboring state of IL, and his campaign staff was crossing the border all the time bumper stickers and all sorts of stuff (or people would just cross into Chicago to bring it back — free of charge).

Here’s an article on Huff Po about a deceptive leaflet that was spread around Grand Rapids: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dan-treul/dirty-leaflet-campaign-la_b_81229.html

(The guy who wrote that article is an Obama supporter, but at least he recognizes the campaign’s dirty tricks).

When did recruiting Republicans to win a Democratic primary become a strategy for a “Democrat”. All I have to say is, if the Democratic Party leadership allows Obama to rig this primary with all his shenanigan’s, then Dems deserve the ass whipping the Republicans will give them in the general election and for 4 years under a McCain presidency.

    • Gabriele Droz

Here’s a great video of Hillary in Scranton, PA, in their St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which is, believe it or not, preceded by Obama’s be-a-democrat-for-a-day vote whoring ad Susan posted above. Shameful, just shameful.

    • Fleaflicker

I completely agree with you. And if Hillary is not the nominee I will do absolutely NOTHING for the Democratic party going into the fall election.

I take great offense with Obama actively courting Republicans to help choose our nominee. To me it diminishes everything it means to be a Democrat.

    • Shainzona

Amen! And I’ll be there to help whoop his/their ass!

    • apishapa

It seems to me that in Michigan there were a lot of Big Boy Blogs urging Democrats to vote in the Republican primary for Mitt or McCain. I can’t remember. Seemed infantile to me.

Who gives a shit who Republican nominate? Of course look how those same blogs are behaving now. Still little boys trying to sabotag the country.

  • bert

Boy this is about as low as low can get. Actually, it is lower than that even. This is base. Obama urging Republicans to vote in a Democratic primary. I can’t believe this is happening in and to America.

Even Newt Gingrich has said this tactic is bad and does not perserve the integrity of the primary process. He was talking about Rush and Obama.

I never ever though there would come a day I could agree with Newt Gingrich on ANYTHING. The world has been turned around and thhe sun will rise in the west tomorrow.

When did recruiting Republicans to win a Democratic primary become a strategy for a “Democrat.”

I was just going to add an addendum to my comments on this.

It should be against the rules for any Democrat to do this. He should be censored by the Democratic Party.

      • Fleaflicker

        Agreed. Against the rules.

    • simon

Even Newt Gingrich has said this tactic is bad and does not perserve the integrity of the primary process.

Me and the Newt, thinking alike, god forbid.

And this angers those Democrats who KNOW Obama is cancelling their vote, mocking their choices, in the primary, and the GE.

“If I don’t win, make sure no democrat wins.”

Those republicans will not vote for him, in the GE, and he is disparaging the integrity, as Newt said, the HERITAGE of the American electoral process, period.

      “GOD DAMN AMERICA! indeedeedeedee, Obamarama!

      For shame, Dean and Pelosi.

      • rwc

Obama is doing scorched earth politics. He’s using every dirty and incendiary trick in the book to get the prize and doesn’t care that its leaving a trail of devastation and alienation behind him.

And I think it will be a nightmare at the convention. I can see the party bosses and liberal activists ganging up on Hillary and demand she withdraw and endorse Glowbama(see the cover of Rollingstone) or else.

The future doesn’t look too bright.

    • apishapa

He’s been doing the same thing since Iowa. Remember all the ads urging voters to crossover. In Nevada he ran ads all the time urging voters to register Democrats for just one day. That’s where the phrase (One Day Democrats) came from. I’ll bet half his supprot has come from republicans and Independents.

This Drives me insane. It is the primary reason I truly detest Obama. These Republicans assholes are responsible for the mess this country is in. They brought this mess on us. I DETEST EVERYTHING REPUBLICANS STAND FOR AND THIS ASSHOLE HAS INVITED THEM INTO OUR PARTY, and our Party is asking them to nominate our candidate.

Republicans have shown such great judgement the last two elections. No wonder Obama likes them. Same with Independents. they have no business choosing our candidate if they are too stupid to know which party has caused this mess.

We are truly screwed. I am a lifelong democrat, and I resent the fact that I am considering leaving my Party because of this, but I am.

  • OxyCon

    Great vid by MichiganDem.
Obama is going to get crushed in PA. I live in those “Philly Suburbs” you always hear about. Nobody around here likes Obama. We see right through him. There’s alot of Hillary signs around already.

  • myiq2xu

You can bet the rent that if He had won the primaries, Big O and the Obots would be singing a different tune about Michigan and Florida.

I have repeatedly asked this question of Obama supporters:

What overriding moral, legal and/or political principle is served by disenfranchising the voters of two states?

    Rules is rules? Puh-leeze!

I still haven’t got an answer.

    • Lorelynn

That’s basically the same question David Boise asked the first night he heard about Bush’s Supreme Court appeal. it’s really spooky how much Obama’s campaign has in common with Bush’s campaign.

      • TeakWoodKite

An interesting thing that if you use the Obama’s web page “It’s easy”

“To get started fill out the online form. Then we’ll email the correct form to you, so you can print it out and mail it in.”

And now he thinks I can’t fill out a form correctly?

And where the hell was that footage shot taken?
        The Soporano’s wharehouse?

  • fiscalliberal

I am a resident of Michigan. My view is Obama did not stand for election in Michigan because He did not want to jepordize his chances in New Hampshire. Hillary stood for election in Michigan and won in New Hampshire.

It was a political risk that he took and lost. Furthermore. The campaign run by his surogates was to vote uncommitted. Edwards did also.

Hillary also won the Michigan vote by 55%. Now because of his error in political judgement, he and the DNC wants to discount or eliminate my vote.

Since 1964, except for one time, I and my wife have voted Democratic. I have worked for the local Democratic Club, my wife has been a poll worker. Our votes have always counted.

A line has been crossed by Obama and the DNC. Now they want us to revote. The problem is, once a persons vote is denied, the essence of Democracy has been violated. What is next if our votes are not counted.

So the issue is still being resolved in Michigan, however I deeply remember that my vote may not be counted.

I would have thought that a African American would been the last person to discount a citizens vote.

In the end Hillary is the only one standing up for my vote. Obama will never have mine.

    • simon

You know, Dean’s issues are with the local democratic MI party leaders, not the people.

The vote should count, as is, and the leaders dealt with separately, he is running an incredibly stupid risk here, alienating both FL and MI voters, losing them in the general, and permanently, for THAT old school stupid democrat…

Obama begging for republican votes disenfranchises the democratic voter, and undermines, spits on, the electoral process.

And this takes on new meaning given the Wright Farrakhan Ayers Auchi Rezko and now, Gaddafi connections.

Really, I wish those idiots could see the bigger picture.

On fact, Obama could be identified as the “God Damn America” candidate, and truthfully.

Why does the DNC expect democrats to vote for Obama, again?

      • BloggerBoyz

And it shouldn’t even be Dean’s issue. Nowhere is it written that Iowa and NH have some kind of inaienble right to go first. t’s not anything for teh DNC to get involved in, let the states work out their own schedules. Nobody’s going to die if states where people actually live have a say before unpopulated states.

    • jwrjr

Dean’s actions (stripping Michigan and Florida’s delegates) was just about the stupidest thing he could have done. Fiscalliberal’s comment describes exactly why.

  • Strawberrybitch

Uuuuuum. So he knows he can’t win by appealing to democrats (ie HIS OWN FRIGGIN’ PARTY!) so he is appealing to republicans and indies…why does Lieberman keep popping into my head? Jeez louise just change parties already!

    • Fleaflicker

Lieberman is right. Including the BFF with Republicans.

  • Fleaflicker

I would have thought that a African American would been the last person to discount a citizens vote.

    The irony is astounding.

    • TeakWoodKite

      The irony is astounding.

I never thought so few words could describe so much.

    • mimi

      “The irony is astounding.”

I really have to chime in here: There is no irony when you consider he is bi-racial. He has no cultural or socioligical connection to the black community. He plays the race card in a way no self-respecting black person, would knowing the seriousness of doing so and how it trivializes racism.

The man was raised by his mother and grandparents, in Hawaii, which is not known for having a sizeable black community; a mulatto who could easily blend in with Hawaiians and not standout as an AA with a white mother and African father. And since we’re on the subject how much contact did he even have with black side of his family? VERY LITTLE. And even if he had, the African colonial experience is different from the African American experience which stripped us of culture and language, folllowed by years of discrimination through segregation, Jim Crow laws and the violence of lynching. At the time Barack Obama was born, many African nations were gaining their independence. The Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964. It’s a whole different ball of wax. And he has somehow co-opted a heritage that doesn’t belong to him and he is basically destroying, it aided and abetted by AAs desperate to fulfill a sense of validation in his candidacy.

For this AA he is not just a nightmare, he is the devil! As was once pointed out in a favorite movie of mine: What would you expect the devil to look like? Nobody would fall for a guy with horns, pointy ears, a cape and a pitchfork. He would be attractive and seemingly innocent enough to make ‘boneheaded’ mistakes that people would overlook.

This is why I feel the AA community is being duped. He would do anything, throw anybody under the bus to get elected POTUS. This Michigan stunt PROVES just how cold and hard a caluclating politican Barack Obama is. He’d throw anyone under the bus just to get elected. And mark my words if he does get elected A WHOLE LOT OF FOLKS ARE GOING TO BE SHOCKED at what he turns out to be. Especially those left-wing nut jobs who have sold their souls and censored all dialogue in this Primary.

The Democratic Party ought to be ashamed of themselves. They have pissed on a LIFETIME of loyalty from me.

BTW, the name of that moview was Broadcast News. A movie that forecasted the demise of network news. Rent it along with Network. Very Chilling in these times.

And yes, the devil couldn’t disguise his ears. Maybe that’s why he’s so sensitive about them.

  • Shainzona

BO was not in charge of the RULZ! He made a decision and pushed other candidates in that direction.

    Tough Luck, BO!

Michigan Dems should not have to pay the price for your stupidity!

  • Mel

The ad here simply confirms one thing, Sen Obama isn’t the Uniter and attractor to the DNP he claims, he is just another low life poltician seeking power!

    http://pahomepage.com/media_player.php?media_id=14075

This is the most disgusting form of selfserving politics ever and Obama should have his DNP membership revoked immediately!

  • Mel

Don’t forget, Obama said he’d approve of caucus’s in Michigan and Florida, combine it with the ad above and he it confirms his stackign agenda, some uniter and candidate of change, this guy is as phoney as a $3 bill and if the DNP doesn’t stop him and revoke his memebership, then they deserve to lose in November!

Any bets the media won’t play this up big time, but if it was Clinton, they’d be burying her from it!

So who is the real divider, the proof is in the ad!

    http://pahomepage.com/media_player.php?media_id=14075

    • Strawberrybitch

Agreed, Obama is willing to disfranchise members of his own party just to win…and they say Hillary is playing dirty. Yikes!

  • Gloria

I think he has become such a scumbag….or rather, it is just obvious now what he’s been along all along.

And the party? It’s jumped the shark…no longer my party.

  • yttik

Does anyone ever speculate about what’s going on in Obama’s head? He’s a smart guy, he knows that getting Republicans to vote for you in a Dem primary is going to be bad for the general election. He knows that trashing other Democrats is going to be bad for party. He knows that bragging about the Reagan presidency while critisizing the Clinton presidency is not going to benefit the Democratic party.

After a while I start to wonder if his goal all along hasn’t been to divide the Dems and make them loose the general election. Is he really so arrogant and self centered that he doesn’t see what he’s doing?

LOL, I’ve asked myself the same question about president Bush. Is it possible to screw things up this badly, over and over again, or at some point do we start to wonder if it isn’t deliberate?

    • simon

Is he really so arrogant and self centered that he doesn’t see what he’s doing?

When added to the Wright, Farrakhan, Auchi, Rezko, and Gaddafi connections, it really does seem to be a campaign of “god damn America.”

But possibly in his head, he really thinks these things don’t matter, look at Pelosi and Reid, and their reaction, agreeing to support him..

There is a sort of disconnect between understanding the impact of prior decisions and their effect on a run for the presidency, (rationalized with “so WHAT if I took money from Rezko, the media can spin anything, run it like Rove, et al..”) and reality, every potential problem explained away with a specious, “we’ll run it like Rove,” a xerox, again, not understanding the finer points Rove addressed.

It’s an inability to properly judge the landscape one is facing, and yes, it goes back to megalomaniac, infantile narcissism. Think of a cripple, but Obama’s decision making process is permanently crippled, his permanent perceptions will always be seen through the lens of the infantile narcissist, like a drama queen, every thing must be turned into a struggle, trying to break Mom’s will. It’s a behavioral pattern, and no doubt affected every aspect of his life.

For instance, I would say it makes no impression on Obama how and WHY people are appalled at Wright. It is simply another fire to put out, as opposed to a morally offensive transgression, associating with men who think white people should be murdered. “Farakkhan respects Ghaddafi, Ghaddafi blew up an airplane full of people, where is the problem here?”

“People may not like it, spin it”

      “Oh.”

He throws it into the spam file, Brazile goes on TV, but meanwhile, the democrats are facing a big problem, as is the country.

But its’ about Obama, not the nation, because the narcissism dictates.

Same with Bush. See the similarities in the specious thought pattern, indicative in the infantile narcissistic?

  • silver

If the DNC thinks it’s okay for Republicans to vote in the Democratic primary for a day, then how about they also ask the Republicans to finance them as well. Quit asking for donations from Democrats and cozy up to the Republicans instead. I’m sure they’d be more than happy to put their money where their vote is—at least for a day. NOT!

  • bert

Lots of good and serious points made here. I have made a couple of them myself.

But right now I want to share some laughter with you. A girlfriend just sent this to me and it really made me laugh:

A gem from our possible future Fearless Leader!!!!

‘My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.’

    – Barack Obama

    • RMC

LOL Change it to what? A Nation of Islam? Thanks but no thanks.

  • RMC

I’m not surprised. We saw an excellent piece last night about Saatch & Saatchi and how they manipulate public opinion. This has been going on for nearly thirty years what I can determine. This stuff about Michigan is par for the course.
