Who Stinketh the Most? Obama or Olbermann?

The musical, 1776, is one of my favorite films. And this song, Molasses to Rum, captures a moment that is relevant when we discuss racism and Obama. To set the scene, the debate on the Declaration of Independence was stuck as John Adams insisted that slavery must be condemned and outlawed if this new nation was to live up to its quest for liberty and justice. John Rutledge, a delegate from South Carolina, insisted that slavery was a right of his state. and he makes an impassioned plea in this song.
So what does this have to do with Senator Obama and Keith Olbermann?
Let’s start with Mr. Olbermann. He wrapped himself around an axle last week protesting the racism of Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro. Yet, when Barack is called out for having a black racist, Jeremiah Wright, a man he calls “Uncle,” as a leading member of his steering committee of ministers for his campaign, Keith throws kisses. Don’t take my word, take Keith’s:
And then we have Obama himself. When Don Imus called those college atheletes, “Nappy Headed Ho’s,” Obama correctly and properly was outraged. It does not matter that Imus was joking. It was no laughing matter. Yet when Jeremiah Wright says, “goddamn America,” Obama excuses his crazy uncle. He condemns the statement, so he says. Yet, being fully aware of these remarks when he started his campaign, Obama still put Wright in a top position. And it is only this week that Obama’s campaign has decided to erase other racists–such as the New Black Panthers–from his website. He didn’t realize it was wrong until it started hurting his poll ratings? Check out this video:
So Obama won’t go back on the Imus Show, because he does not want to be an enabler, but he will still go to church with Jeremiah Wright. Who stinketh the most?
