OBOT UPDATE: If you saw Larry Johson’s story, “Barack vs. Special Olympics,” you know that what Ifill says below is BAH-LONEY!!! Obamabot excuse-maker-like-none-other Gwin Ifill, supposedly a news reporter/anchor for PBS, told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell the following:
Andrea Mitchell: Are you put off at all by the teleprompter for the opening statement?
Gwen Ifill: I’m struck by it. Especially since he has a reputation, President Obama, for being so eloquent and so well-spoken. The fact that he needs a teleprompter, it’s not that he needs it, it’s that he’s decided to turn press conferences into presidential speeches. And that makes reporters kind of a backdrop rather than people who are there on equal footing. It’s curious. [YES IT IS, GWEN, especially your rationalizations!]
CORRECTION: I am so time-zone challenged being in PT-land. It’s pathetic. The live chat starts at 7:30 p.m. ET! Thanks to Larry Doyle’s wife for rescuing me!
This is our first attempt at using this incredibly innovative software. We HOPE it works! We will begin sharing — you can type in LIVE COMMENTS! — at 4:30 7:30 p.m. ET, one-half hour before Barack Obama’s press conference.
I’m both excited and nervous. Here’s hoping we can all participate! I think it will work since it’s used by many other blogs.
