Uncle Jeremiah Still Working with Obama and His Campaign

Despite claims to the contrary, the firebrand hate-monger, Jeremiah Wright, is still working with the Obama campaign. Last Friday the news media reported that Obama had thrown Wright off his campaign. Wrong!

Ben Smith at Politico, for example, wrote:

Spokesman Tommy Vietor e-mails:

“Rev. Wright is no longer serving on the African American Religious Leadership Committee.”

That cuts Wright’s only formal tie to Obama, and answers what was sure to be a question in Obama’s interviews tonight: If Geraldine Ferraro had to leave the Clinton campaign, why is Wright different?

Well apparently, Wright is no Ferraro and he gets to stay. Yesterday the Obama campaign, in panic mode, gave the New York Times a photo that Jeremiah Wright ponied up. It shows Wright with President Clinton.  The only person besides Wright with a copy of this photo is the Clinton Library and I am certain the Clinton Library did not send this picture to the press on short notice. Wright also gave the Obama campaign a copy of the thank you note he received from President Clinton, which they dutifully passed on to the Times.

Uncle Jeremiah

Wright was at the 1998 Prayer breakfast along with several hundred other religious leaders, including rabbis, pastors, priests, and imams. President Clinton posed with several hundred guests, who received similar photos. President Clinton has never considered Jeremiah Wright someone whom he should confide in, nor was he a sounding board. He also has never considered Jeremiah an uncle or any relative for that matter.

Which brings us back to the Obama lie. Why does he claim last week that they have cut all ties with Wright but this week are still getting and receiving Wright’s help?  It ain’t right, it is wrong.

Well Larry, how can you discard yor Uncle?

Guess Mondays speech had merit to it, protect your Uncle while trowing Grandma under the bus, after all Grandma is just real blood!

Now let’s not frget, it is alrightfor Obama to do this, sincehe is the self proclaimed not “conventional” candidate!

Does that mean that the candidates who actually did work in their duties as Senators are conventional, what sort is Obama? Does the term “third string or bench candidate” fit the mold?

  • reality based

From the look on the “reverend’s” face he wasn’t in the process of condemning Clinton for “ridin’ dirty.” The old bird is a treacherous character. And so is his young disciple.

  • mac

Didn’t Obama say on Larry King last night that Wright was on a cruise? Timing, baby.

  • PMS

Obama doesn’t lie. He merely passes judgment superiorly.

  • Marco

Yes, Wright is on a “cruise.” So fucking hilarious. How long will this cruise last? I am thinking at least till June.

  • Strawberrybitch

Are you friggin’ serious? What is Obama thinking? This guy is toxic?

  • http://www.thecjpoliticalreport.com/mysite.rss.txt Halli Casser-Jayne

No it ain’t WRIGHT, it’s wrong. But Obama has defined a new kind of right — Obama wright, and it’s a disgrace.

I’m still trying to figure out what the Bill Clinton/racist preacher picture does for Mr. Hope’s campaign? So the racist preacher attended a prayer breakfast. WHO CARES? Did Bill and Hillary Clinton sit in Trinity church pews for 20 years listening to the hate mongering? Besides that, Bill Clinton isn’t running for President! Hillary is. Did Mr. Hope forget that little fact? I know facts escape him usually, but that one should be easy to remember.

    No Quarter:

I hope everyone who blogs here read Obama’s speech. At least we got some details about Jeremiah Wright (details that the Bush Administration would not give us on any issue) but I think the interesting observation here is that Sunday is the most segregated day of week with whites going to the white churchs and blacks going to the black churches. I actually think that Obama and Wright are wrong about the root cause of the stasis that has stagnated this country. I do not think it is racism.
I think it is 9/11 and the conspiracy of the Bush Administration to cover it up or, at least, deny us access to the solutions to issues raised by 9/11. When Bush was elected I wondered just how much damage he could do. Did he resign after the greatest failure of security this country has ever seen? No, he stayed on to do more damage. Sure we can and need to get together like Obama says but racism is not the major problem. We need to get together to demand an American Department of Peacebuilding and a UN Resolution for a Global Peacebuilding Initiative.

  • Melanie

    Obama is a hapless fraud.

  • Andy

I am disgusted at Richardson endorsement at the heels of the public awareness of Obama’s repulsive 20 years relationship with Wright. How can Richardson believe that Obama 5,000 words speech weighs more than Obama’s adult life under Wright’s wings?
I never liked Richardson much (& I’m `Latino’); he always seemed an opportunistic and buffoonish but I hope someone reminds the public Richardson’s weak oversight of Los Alamos Lab. Larry can you elaborate a bit on this?

Clinton Advisor: Hillary Has 10% Chance of Winning…

Story behind the story: The Clinton myth
By JIM VANDEHEI & MIKE ALLEN | 3/21/08 1:32 PM EST
    Text Size:

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/9149.html

One big fact has largely been lost in the recent coverage of the Democratic presidential race: Hillary Rodham Clinton has virtually no chance of winning.

Her own campaign acknowledges there is no way that she will finish ahead in pledged delegates. That means the only way she wins is if Democratic superdelegates are ready to risk a backlash of historic proportions from the party’s most reliable constituency.

Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote — which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle — and use that achievement to pressure superdelegates, she has only one scenario for victory. An African-American opponent and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else.
People who think that scenario is even remotely likely are living on another planet.

As it happens, many people inside Clinton’s campaign live right here on Earth. One important Clinton adviser estimated to Politico privately that she has no more than a 10 percent chance of winning her race against Barack Obama, an appraisal that was echoed by other operatives. In other words: The notion of the Democratic contest being a dramatic cliffhanger is a game of make-believe.

AND the media tonight is just all a “GLOW” and drenched in barackoolaid flow!

This dude is truly teflon! I had to turn OFF the TV as NONE of the news channels were acting at ALL like news channels.

More like Cheerleading Camp for dummies!

What the HECK is goin on??? I seriously think there are some insider deals being made to HUSH this thing up and try to pretend the DEMS are unifying. And RICHARDSON is a fool if he thinks by endorsing BO at this point in time will help.

It will only further separate him from his constituency. The ONES that voted for HILLARY in NM (where she WON). I know it was not a blow out but NEITHER was MISSOURI a blow out for BO.

Keith O was the TOP spinner and changer of topic last night too acting like this passport thing was at ALL huge compared to Rev. Wright and his ABSENCE from defending his views and his protege.(sp) (if that’s what bo is)
ARGH its sooooo damn frustrating trying to watch this BS. I’m about to just dump my tv all together.

btw, sorry for the rant. I know you all don’t know ME and I don’t know any of you but I appreciate the availability to add on to the chatter of doubt regarding BHO and our for sure LOSS to McKook in NOV if O is the nominee. No doubts.

  • S. Markom

Did he say “cruise” or “cruising”?

  • Andy

    Nonsense…

The popular vote of FL can be certified (under the rules) regardless of what happens with pledged delegates. Similar for MI. Sorry.
Besides: as soon as you sit 1 delegate this is automatic.

Let’s not forget SD: how many are comfortable with Obama’s deep and intimate relationship with a racist and bigot as Wright?

  • DJ

The real question is why so many people are playing the suspense game. The answer has more to do with media psychology than with practical politics.

Journalists, for instance, have become partners with the Clinton campaign in pretending that the contest is closer than it really is. Most coverage breathlessly portrays the race as a down-to-the-wire sprint between two well-matched candidates, one only slightly better situated than the other to win in August at the national convention in Denver.

One reason is fear of embarrassment. In its zeal to avoid predictive reporting of the sort that embarrassed journalists in New Hampshire, the media — including Politico — have tended to avoid zeroing in on the tough math Clinton faces.

Avoiding predictions based on polls even before voters cast their ballots is wise policy. But that’s not the same as drawing sober and well-grounded conclusions about the current state of a race after millions of voters have registered their preferences.

The antidote to last winter’s flawed predictions is not to promote a misleading narrative based on the desired but unlikely story line of one candidate.

There are other forces also working to preserve the notion of a contest that is still up for grabs.

One important, if subliminal, reason is self-interest. Reporters and editors love a close race — it’s more fun and it’s good for business.

That’s right, reporters and editors are unable–or unwilling–to report the race accurately because they’re having too much fun, and maybe even making too much money.

    Sajo SPAM:

Stop duplicating your posts in all threads; the technique doesn’t make them any more important/valid/credible.

  • Dawnelle

    Also,

I must say I just love Joe and Valerie for all they have done for this country!

I used to think it would be cool for EITHER of them to be a VP for Hillary.

I’m sure there could be rules or something that would keep X Spies from running? Anyway I still love both of them.

  • sajo

Since you don’t have a selection of rational topics titles, it’s hard to choose where to post an intelligent/credible article.

Maybe you an get off of Jeremiah and discuss developments in the campaign

  • barbh

An unnamed source in Clinton’s campaign, that’s what you got? Give me a break! This is so lame. People are so desperate to declare BO the winner they will say anything.

I think she is really going to surprise people in PA and in NC and the rest of the states for that matter. BO is toast, pass the orange marmalade….

Rev. Wright is not going to go away and middle of the road Americans are not going to like it much. If you noticed in the exit polls in both Ohio and Texas, a very large percentage of undecideds swung for Sen. Clinton. The difference between those primaries and the upcomings is I think they are going to swing to her BEFORE the primary.

BO is so arrogant, he thought Wright would have no effect on his campaign. BO is so arrogant he thought that he could utilize the real estate fairy and it wouldn’t matter, sorry but it does.

  • sajo

    Andy, Barbh

I guess math is not your strong side. So dream on…

  • Hope

Oh look at Rev Wright doing the WRONG thing (according to his own hate-filled anti-white declarations) by smiling and kissing the butt of Bill Clinton.

  • TeakwoodKite

The three hour kind? On aboat named the Minnow?

  • Hope

I heard Bill Clinton today talk about a HIllary/McCaine! I’m not making this up. It was on cable news when I went home for lunch.

What is that all about? Anyone know?

  • jwrjr

If you were to post an “intelligent/credible article” you might not have this problem.

  • simon

Well, per pattern, this is build up for Obama, the push down for Clinton, and within a week or two, we should see which Obama bomb falls next, topping the news. Drip drip drip.

I’m curious what the non biased polls say…

This is how Cheney handles the press, too, it’s kind of like pushback.

The factors affecting the race change everyday. The next round of scandal to hit Obama will still come out, the republican game plan still stands…

Knock out Clinton, and then have a go at the criminal Obama.

  • simon

The journalists arent reporting Rezko, or focusing on Wright.

But they will, come Novemeber, per the republican game plan.

Pretty simplistic, this pattern of PR, those desperate wannabe psy ops.

    MEOW.

Sorry, didn’t mean to be catty.

The cranky old black pastor with a potty mouth and a flair for the offensive, the movie star, Oprah and Richardson on a one way ticket out of town on a rail. Maybe a hurricane would be preferable to the sh*tstorm they are in now.

  • Myke

Smoke a little more crack. I got yer 10 percent right here (guess where).

  • ned bulous

Although everybody around here repeatedly calls Wright a ‘racist’, I haven’t seen a racist quote from him yet!

Is the observation that America is run by ‘rich white people’ racist? Although it is surely angry and inflammatory and counter-productive, I don’t see it as racist. In fact, it has an element of truth to it, doesn’t it?

In fact, if one was to ask a woman who runs America, she might respond “rich white old men”, which would also be correct. But would it be sexist? I don’t think so!

  • Andy

Yeah right: if you know who I am….

My guess: you and your Politico source got lost in Calculus I (well, if you really went that far).

It is trivial to compute her chances and they ain’t 10%.

You are really have no clue do you?

  • Hope

Okay thanks! I was rushing around at lunch and not paying attention. I thought I heard something entirely different that didn’t make any sense at all. Geez!

    Thanks, Teak.

  • Andy

ned bulous that’s because you haven’t “heard” enough. You probably need to learn more about Wright: who he is, where he comes from, what he believes and all he has said.

That’s not “it”. There is a lot more…

    You need to spend some time reading more about him and his ideas, philosophy, etc etc etc;
that is if you really want to know.

Here’s a funny little Fox news reaction to this story I grabbed and put up on Youtube:

I call it, “Obama’s Photo Gambit Laughed At”

  • Myke

Is that Reverend Wright in the “Rich White House”.

  • Eddie

Great work and this is not going away. That speech Tuesday was the usual b.s. my way through the answer with a lot of important sounding words and maybe the teacher will think I answered it. He didn’t.
On Wright and the efforst by the media to smear Hillary over and over and to force her out of the race, C.I. had something at The Common Ills today that still has me grinning proving why Hillary has to be the Democratic candidate in the general election:

Patriotism. Jeremiah Wright’s damning of America has offended many Americans and will only offend more as time passes. Barack Obama’s Tuesday speech was met with the usual press nonsense which was to focus on the pretty words he offered and not grasp that the speech was a distraction and an avoidance. As the polling indicates, Americans grasped it far better than the press did. We all love Betty and what Cedric has termed her “deep wisdoms from the south.” We love them because she’s usually right on the money. This was Betty in Sunday’s “Roundtable:” “We’ve seen a very ugly campaign season and I was so disappointed when it was announced on Friday that they were calling a truce. Whenever the heat gets turned up on Bambi, it’s time for a truce. Jesse Jackson Jr. can get on TV and lie about Hillary and not be called out but when realities emerge about Bambi, it’s time for a truce? There should be no truce and there should be no nonsense that race hasn’t played a part or that White people have repeatedly ignored the way the Obama campaign has used racism throughout the campaign.” Betty’s correct that everytime the Obama campaign gets into hot water they insist on a truce and then they don’t honor it. Jeremiah Wright’s damning of America was offensive to many. It was time for a “truce” insisted the Obama campaing and then, not a full week later, they show up to “peddle photos of President Clinton shaking hands with . . . Wright less than 48 hours after calling for a high-minded conversation on race. Well, President Clinton took tens of thousands of photos during his eight years as president. Stop the presses.” Neither Bill or Hillary Clinton were members of Wright’s church. This is the same crap that the George W. Bush campaign repeatedly pulled in the 2000 election. And you need to be noticing Hillary’s response.

Democrats have stated since 2000 — when Al Gore didn’t fight hard enough after the election — and again in 2004 — when John Kerry refused to stand up for Ohio voters — that the party needed a fighter. Hillary Clinton is a fighter. She’s fighting for the nomination and doing so against one of the most rigged systems in recent memory. Panhandle Media has churned out embarrassing, fawning copy for Obama since 2006 in anticipation of his run while running ‘exposes’ on Hillary. It hasn’t changed a thing with the core of the Democratic Party, working class people, who continue to support her. Panhandle Media’s non-stop lying has allowed some very smart Obama supporters to believe such lies as “Obama voted against the Iraq resolution in 2002.” They believe that because the LIARS of Panhandle Media repeatedly suggest that. Last year on KPFA we saw Professor Patti Williams float that lie and when called on it, by a woman of MidEastern descent who pointed out Obama wasn’t in the Senate in 2002, Professor Patti had her meltdown on air, snarling at a woman who obvioulsy had dificulty speaking on air. How proud Professor Patti must be — both for attempting to lie and for attacking a woman who pointed out that Professor Patti was wrong. We saw all this crap during the 2000 George W. Bush campaign. We’re seeing it all again but it’s coming from Democrats and it’s not Hillary, despite Panhandle Media’s non-stop lying. It’s the Barack team.

Meanwhile, having offended a good portion of Americans, what has Barack done? It is now Friday and the best he can offer is to try to smear the Clintons by pointing out that Wright was among many clergy invited to one prayer breakfast at the White House. If you’re not alarmed by that, you’re not paying attention. Wright is toxic. He is pulling the Obama campaign down. And the campaign’s best response is to pull out a photo-op shot of the man with Bill Clinton? How does Barack Obama plan to address a Republican opponent because he’s running a losing campaign right now. You need to think about Florida 2000 and ask yourself which of the two would be fighting and which would be saying, “Oh, well, we all need to heal and blah blah blah” thereby stabbing voters in the back. I don’t think anyone can argue that Hillary would say, “Oh well, it’s over. Heal, America, let’s all heal!” Democrats have complained and, yes, whined for eight years now that they wanted a figher. You’ve got your fighter, it’s Hillary Clinton.

Now the rejects of Panhandle Media — who couldn’t work in the Real Media — are facing their own little awakening. They have to face that all their talk of ‘democracy’ and of ‘participation’ and of embracing the ‘working class’ is just b.s. They’ve spat on all three notions this election cycle. They’ve stamped their feet and amplified their LIES when they didn’t get their way. It is a testament to the spirit of working class Democrats that with all the lies, all the distortions, they have refused to be taken in. But then real Democrats didn’t vote for the Bully Boy in 2000 or 2004. And maybe Panhandle Media should start including disclaimers when they LIE about Obama. Maybe readers do, as Mike and Marcia both noted yesterday, have a right to know, when reading yet another endorsement of Obama, whether the writer can even vote in the election, whether the writer is a Democrat, whether the writer is a Communist, whether the writer voted Democrat before or — again — even can vote.

They’ve created their little artisan class (highly undemocratic) to act as an echo chamber and they’ve enlisted people who HAVE TO PASS for Democrats. When someone has to pass for a Democrat, there’s a problem and that’s an indication that they probably shouldn’t be addressing a Democratic primary to begin with. Hillary’s fighting and Panhandle Media can’t stand that. They’re working overtime to say that damning the United States does not matter — how very cosmopolitan of them — or is it European of them. It does matter and they need to get out of their elitist little nooks and crannies to start interacting with real Americans. If they do that, they’ll quickly grasp how serious Barack Obama’s 20-year-relationship with Jeremiah Wright is.

That’s not “it”. There is a lot more…”

Is there? Can you point me to it?

I’m still trying to work out exactly WHAT it was that Reverend Wright said that was so filled with hate, that has so many people’s pants in a bind? I’ve heard a number of his sermons on the You Tube and specifically the ones that seem to be the cause of all the heat…and nothing he has said was untrue. The AIDS comment was the only one without any basis in fact. BUT…take into account the Tuskegee experiments. From 1932 to the 1970′s. That’s Jeremiah Wright’s lifetime. It makes a little sense. Irrational? Maybe. But there is precedent and context.

What has Jeremiah Wright said that is so offensive? “Goddamn America”? Is that it? Please…i think we all need to take a deep breath and grow a pair.

  • barbh

    Sajo,
I hate to disappoint you, but it ain’t over yet by a long shot. Maybe you need to mosey on over to real clear politics or a like site and see how many pledged delegates are going to be up for grabs in upcoming primaries. With the Wright information out, he is going to tank in PA and NC, lots and lots of delegates up for Sen. Clinton’s taking. When she starts doing this, he is going to look like the very damaged candidate he is.

Do you think it is a coincidence that he is doing Larry King, speech on race, Anderson Cooper all in the first few days after the Wright thing? They have internals and they don’t look good on this.

    From the Chicago Tribune:

Apparently Rezko had ties to Carlyle, too.

    THAT Carlyle.

Jury hears about 2 GOP insiders before starting spring break

    March 21, 2008; 1:20 p.m.
The trial has ended for the day but not before the jury began hearing how Stuart Levine and his friends began using their newfound control over the Teachers’ Retirement System for their own benefit.

Levine said one of their first moves was to bring a $150-million investment from TRS to Carlyle Venture Partners in August 2002.

Levine said his friend and business associate, Republican insider Robert Kjellander, brought the firm to his attention and asked whether he could assist Carlyle in landing TRS business. “I was happy to try to help him,” Levine testified.

Once the investment received approval, Levine said he had a conversation with William Cellini, another Republican power broker.

Both Cellini and Kjellander were lobbyists for a company called Compdent, for which Levine found clients. In testimony earlier this week, Levine said he had passed bribes to secure contracts for Compdent, a dental insurance provider, with the Chicago Public Schools.

Levine also had been paying Kjellander $75,000 a year for his advocacy on behalf of the company, but after the Carlyle deal, Cellini told Levine that payment was no longer necessary. As the trial was wrapping up for the week, U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve made a public announcement that a juror has been excused from further service because of an illness. That leaves five alternates in place for the remainder of the trial.

The case is now on hold for a spring break, with testimony scheduled to resume March 31. The trial, which began earlier this month, is expected to take three to four months to play out.

If an American Department of Peacebuilding and a UN Resolution for a Global Peacebuilding Initiative were in place and in practice then there would be e.g. a plan for post-war Iraq i.e. a peacebuilding corps would be there as a sign that the surge was working. There isn’t a plan for post war Iraq – not one that serves the people of Iraq. If you saw the movie Charlie Wilson’s War then you would know what I mean – a billion dollars for the war effort and 1 million for rebuilding Afghanistan. The latter effort was, of course, rejected.

    Thanks

    Jake,

Speaking of Morons – or is a ship of fools?

You have no idea that your savior Obama is literally going to set back race relations back at least 40 years.

There are thousands who have worked hard, without violence, that have opened many doors. This GD insanity is going to get slammed shut by your sheer stupidy, and Obimbi’s arrogance and advanced meglomaina.

You probably do not remember the ugly side – where there were major race riots in LA, Detroit and other places. Your actions are like a full barrel of gasoline waiting for a lighted match.

Just watch when they drag out the footage of the riots, and ignore the many, many good things and advances that many of us sacrificed for. Just don’t come whining and expecting the adults to pick up your mess.

[...] Well apparently, Wright is no Ferraro and he gets to stay. Yesterday the Obama campaign, in panic mode, gave the New York Times a photo that Jeremiah Wright ponied up. It shows Wright with President Clinton. Read the rest of this post at NoQuarter. [...]

Uh-Huh, but Clinton might only have a 10% chance of beating Obama, but Obama has a 100% chance of beating himself. I like those odds.

Obama will probably not make it till PA. The PA internal numbers will be bas for his “unity” meme, indeed.

Rev. Wright reprinting of a HAAS manifesto on his webpage, we be the end of Obama.

Why would Obama stick with Rev Wright knowing all this? He believes 100% of what Rev Wright preachers (PERIOD).

Whether you believe what Rev Wright is preaching is true is immaterial. The president of the United States cannot be close personal friends (father figure) to a man who believes god should damn America.

Simply put, we are only at the first layer of the Rev Wright onion. It gets smellier as we get to the inner onion.

    Wait and see.

FROM OBAMAS AND THE REVS CHURCH DOCTRINE : A CONGREGATION WITH A NON-NEGOTIABLE COMMITMENT TO AFRICA”. HOW CAN OBAMA MAKE THAT KIND OF A PLEDGE TO A COUNTRY OTHER THAN THE UNITED STATES ? HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR UN-AMERICAN ACTIVITIES AND REMOVED FROM HIS U.S. SENATE SEAT. BEEN DOING THIS FOR 20 YEARS NOW….IMPEACH OBAMA 08

apparently the BO campaign is agreeing that their 20 year relationship with Rev Wright and placing him as a Lead Advisor on his Presidential campaign is poison, if they’re trying to equate that with Rev Wright getting to take a picture with President Clinton.

    ….isn’t that hysterically funny? :)
