SATURDAY 2 p.m. UPDATE BY LARRY JOHNSON: AT THE END OF THE POST.
I’ve updated Survey USA’s Electoral College prediction based on updated results in 15 states. (The traditional definitions of “Red” and “Blue” are reversed.) The results:
| Hillary Clinton 294 John McCain 231 Tie 13 |
John McCain 288 Barack Obama 238 Tie 12 |
Hillary vs McCain:
Obama vs McCain
Based on “Electoral Math” by SUSA (Obama, Clinton) released March 6, 2008 and modified using updated results from 15 states released March 19 and 20.
UPDATED (From Larry Johnson): Here are the election results thru 21 March 2008. This does not include caucus results because caucuses exclude people that regular elections capture. Also, I have excluded the results of the Michigan election. Florida is included because both Hillary and Barack were on the ballot and neither campaigned. It is an apple and apple comparison. Without the Michigan vote, Barack has 181,115 more votes than Hillary. That advantage will be reversed when the Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, and North Carolina primaries are over. At that point Hillary will emerge as the Democrat who has garnered the most votes. If you count Michigan she’s already there. With Michigan she has 147,036 more votes than Barack. DaveOinSF has it exactly right. At the end of the day, the next President will be selected based on a person’s ability to get votes and get votes in States that are important in the Electoral College. On that basis Hillary kicks Barack’s ass.
