Barack Obama, The Trillion Dollar Dud er, uh, Man [Updated]

(bumped up by Susan because Larry The Sadist just loves giving us terrifying news — facts, not Obamaland fiction! — and then he just laughs while watching our jaws fall slack)

Although Obama and his lackeys incessantly repeat the mantra that they are going to cut the budget deficit in half by the end of his first term, they are in fact embarking on a deficit spending spree that makes George W. Bush look fiscally responsible. Barack’s budget proposal, pure and simple, not only is an effort to bamboozle the American public but is a recipe to bankrupt America.

To understand what we are up against I encourage you to watch the latest offering from Frontline, which provides a detailed look at the burgeoning U.S. deficit. You can watch, Ten Trillion and Counting online here. No one, Republican or Democrat, is spared. The piece rightly focuses on the crazy economic policies of George Bush, aided and abetted by Republican lackeys.

There is one problem with the Frontline analysis, however. It suggests the problem was the tax cuts rather than focusing on the unrestrained spending by the Republicans and then later, the Democrats.

Which brings us to Barack. Here is why he is disingenuous. Go back and check out the chart from the CBO in my article yesterday (here). Please understand what the term “annual deficit” actually means. It is the amount the Federal Government spends in excess of money collected in taxes. Take the 2009 projection, for example. The Federal Government will run a deficit of $1.186 trillion. In 2010 the Congressional Budget Office projects a deficit of $703 billion. Here’s the critical point to understand. The deficit is not shrinking. It is increasing. Add the figure for 2009 with the one for 2010. The deficit will increase a total of $1.889 trillion. By the end of Barack Obama’s first (and hopefully last) term, we will be in hock for an additional $2.651 trillion dollars.

Let’s put this in perspective. George W. Bush racked up a deficit of $3.365 trillion in 8 years. Barack will spend 80% of that amount in just four years. George W. Bush approved $1.908 trillion in deficit spending in his last four years. As Barack has noted correctly–he inherited a disastrous economy based on deficit spending from George W. Bush. I agree with that. Barack is right. So what is Barack’s solution? Spend more–almost $2.7 trillion dollars. If Bush was a drunken sailor than Barack is a drunken navy. This is fiscal suicide. America cannot afford it.

UPDATE–The crazy spending of Bush and Obama should remind us of the genius of Bill Clinton. In his first year in office he ran a deficit of $300 billion. During his eight year term his total deficit spending was $1.004 trillion. But, most importantly, he produced a surplus in 1998, 1999 and 2000. No other president in the last 50 years did that.

And one more thing–the total Federal deficit from 1969 thru 2000 was $3.982 trillion. George W. Bush almost matched that in 8 years and Barack Obama is on track to spend 67% of that immense sum in just 4 years. (You can look at the historical data yourself here.)

“There is one problem with the Frontline analysis, however. It suggests the problem was the tax cuts rather than focusing on the unrestrained spending by the Republicans and then later, the Democrats.”

Absolutely right. Obama and his gang are pushing the mantra that it was Bush tax cuts that created this recession and the credit crisis. It is a flat out lie and is being used to create and maintain a crisis – and then exploit that crisis to brainwash Americans that their solutions are the only solutions.

Obama’s solutions are to exploit this to lurch America into a socialist society and economy.

George Soros was interviewed last year and said the world needed a new economic order.

    • NoBamaNoWay

i don’t think it’s either/or. the obscene tax give-away to the super-rich combined with spending like a drunken sailor almost guaranteed disaster.

      • termo

True. Which is why McCain did not vote for the Bush tax cuts originally – he wanted off setting spending cuts – instead Bush steadily increased spending for the balance of his tenure.

  • FLDemFem

The Europeans aren’t too happy about it either..

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek shocked the
normally civil European Parliament Wednesday by warning that Washington’s plans
to fight the global economic crisis are “the way to hell.”

The Czech president, who receives Obummer soon as a guest to the G20 summit, is currently President of the European Union. Something tells me that summit isn’t going to be fun and games for Obummer.

  • b mathews

why is no one protesting the fact that obama is trying to eliminate deductions on mortgage interest and charitible contributions ??? this is a disgrace. many folks buy homes for that purpose as opposed to paying rent. as for charitible deductions, many will stop giving. we need to make it loud and clear to this administration that this is UNACCEPTABLE!!!

    • Diana L. C.

I saw the O briefly lecturing about how people don’t give to charity thinking about the deductions. I wanted to throw something at the television but restrained myself, as my husband knew enough to change the station quickly.

My money is tighter this year–more expenses helping my kids whose money is also tighter. The result is that I have far less money for charity, and that makes me very, very sad. I don’t give because of the deductions, but they do help a little come April 15.

The way he’s going, no one will buy all those houses on the market and all the charities will fold. That does seem like a step toward socialism: no one owning property and everyone living off the government.

      • Diana L. C.

I forgot to mention that the other thought in my mind as O was lecturing about what goes on in the minds of those of us who do give to charity was this: “How the hell do you know, since the only ‘charity’ you were known to give went to that ‘God damn, America’ church you attended for so long?”

The only question is: why didn’t Obama pass the budget and give us universal health care BEFORE bailing out the banks?

    We here know the answer.

  • cynic

An important difference between Obama’s proposed deficit spending and the Bush administration’s spending would be how the money is spent. The past administration ran up a record bill, but bought us nothing of lasting value in doing so. While doubling the size of the national debt, they allowed the physical infrastructure essential for future economic growth to fall into a state of disrepair. They paid lip service to education while a general deterioration of the public education system progressed, at a time when a return to economic prosperity will require a far better educated population. Alternative energy incentives were blocked instead of encouraged, even though it’s apparent our future prosperity depends on reducing our need for increasingly expensive petroleum. The development of fuel-efficient vehicles was blocked; stricter fuel efficiency standards were blocked; promising new vehicles already in production were killed via federal law suits, and subsequently taken unused off dealer lots and scrapped.

Undoing these serious errors will cost a lot money. Owing to current economic conditions we don’t have it. I hate like hell the idea of adding trillions to our current $10 trillion debt, but I’ll bite the bullet to get our country on track for future sustainable prosperity, provided there’s a commitment to paying the debt down when prosperity returns. I don’t see any alternative to this that doesn’t involve resignation to irreversible national decline.

    • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

This argument might have some validity if the stimulus bill actually put the urgent crisis of peak oil at a priority – but it actually spends a lot on unnecessary things like new buildings for universities – things that states should be paying for, not the federal government.

      • candymarl

What was the need to “stimulate” ACORN? Now Obama is sending these same people door to door on taxpayer money to get people to support his policies.

That may help Obama but does nothing to save the economy or help the American public..

            • cynic

Kindly read what I posted about HR 1388 below. The word “mandatory” that’s being bantered about has been taken entirely out of context.

That, of course, doesn’t mean that some people won’t find it highly objectionable that the concept of national service is even under discussion.

              • candymarl

Cynic, when the country goes bankrupt, it won’t matter whether the programs the money was spent on was good or bad, whether the money was pissed away on things of lasting value or not.

Bankrupt is bankrupt and money is finite. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

And frankly, in this case, I suspect even the intentions.

This “plan” [give me the money we don't have without any structural details] makes no sense. You don’t need a Ph.D in economics to know that this is nuts!!! There’s nothing sustainable about what the government is proposing.

I’m willing to suck it up, too. But I’ll be damned if I’ll push a sword, regardless of how gilded, through my own heart. Or my children’s.

      • cynic

If the money is borrowed and wisely spent to give the kids the equipment they need to have a much brighter future, won’t they be far better off as a result?

At the rate we’re going, I’m afraid we’ll be leaving nothing but debts and a broken down country, filled with people who won’t be able to compete with the rest of the industrialized world’s better equipped, better educated citizens. That would be terribly sad, because our nation actually has everything it needs for a return to greatness. All that’s presently lacking is national confidence, vision, and will.

        • Ferd Berfle

All that’s presently lacking is national confidence, vision, and will.

And those characteristics will continue to be lacking until you, your fellow travelers, and That One are made irrelevant. It is the likes of you goobers that have no confidence, vision, or will. If you did, you wouldn’t need to resort to taking that which isn’t yours and spend it on people who don’t deserve it. It might come as a complete surprise to you but there are a lot of examples of people who made it without getting it through entitlement programs, set-asides, quotas, threats, whining, or criminal activity. I doubt you were a member of the former category but the latter, however, judging from the content of your stream of consciousness posing as intelligent commentary. I have to hand it to you though, you are one complete obamabot and must be the cadillac of the collective.

        • termo

The problem with your position is that it is just lofty rhetoric with zero substance.

What Obama is attempting to do under the cloak of “repair” and “investment” is to fundamentally change the economic structure from free market capitalism to a form of socialism.

When he speaks about repairing healthcare he means he wants to nationalize it. When he speaks about shifting to alternative energy, he wants it nationalized with the federal government as the majority investor. When he speaks about eduction he is simply calling for greater compensation for the teacher’s union.

By demonizing Bush and creating a crisis above and way beyond what we already have, he instills the fear that will allow him to convince people like you that he is the messiah and has come to deliver us all.

          • JackStraw

Some of your free market capitalists recently went mustang and buggered the whole financial system, didn’t they? Thanks so much for that! Do you imagine the same sort aren’t also shaking you down in the healthcare and energy sectors? They’re raising the woeful hue and cry of socialism, because that presently plays better than their former hue and cry concerning the suffocating burden of excessive government regulation. The same ulterior motive is behind both complaints, however.

        • TeakwoodKite

If the money is borrowed and wisely spent…

When has this ever been the case?

If I knew that my 5 month old grand daughter would reap the benefit of these expenditures, I might be swayed…

Not by BO or Bush was ANYTHING spent on the needs of any Domestic national priority.

        • Burton

As my kids have learned and maybe you should, too – equipment wears out and money in the bank is a good thing.

    • to77

the argument is foolish. Bush increased spending on education, health care and welfare programs at TWICE the rate that Clinton did. In fact in total from 2001 to 2009 he increased domestic spending (not including defense and debt service) 180%. That is medical, welfare, education, infrastructure, finance, etc.

Those are the facts, I am not a fan of Bush’s spending but the truth is Barry is doubling down on Bush’s economic spending.

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1388

    • cynic

The word “mandatory” comes into HR 1388 in Title VI, Sec. 6104, part b, item 6.

Title VI establishes a Congressional Committee on Civil Service. Sec. 6104 describes the duties of that committee, which are essentially to gather information and make recommendations to Congress. Part b sets out one of the topics they are to consider and make recommendations on:

      (6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

This item isn’t setting up anything other than a topic for study and discussion. Essentially the topic is whether it makes sense for the country to have some form of mandatory national service for young Americans. I’m sure opinions will vary. When I was age 18, the nation had a war and a mandatory military draft, with no civilian national service option as an alternative. I thought many European nations were more fair. You had the option of devoting 2 years to performing civilian services to your nation, delivering mail, working in the schools, working in conservation, etc.

It hadn’t actually occurred to me that I might owe nothing whatsoever to the nation I lived in. I volunteered for military service rather than waiting to be drafted, even though I had serious reservations about the war I wound up fighting in a short time later.

Times and attitudes about what we owe as citizens have changed.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

with no civilian national service option as an alternative.

Sorry, but one of my friends did have draft objector status and served 2 years at a Chicago hospital children’s ward rather than the military.

        • cynic

I’m pretty much unaware of significant alternative options that existed back then. Let’s not forget that many young people with serious objections ultimately fled to Canada. Conscientious Objector status was granted by local draft boards, and was very difficult to obtain unless you had an established history of credible length with certain religious groups. Others could obtain deferments based upon the importance of their civilian work, or for various hardship reasons.

          • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Well, I don’t know…he was the manager of a very famous counterculture establishment. So I don’t know how sympathetic the local draft board would have been. He certainly was not religious then but did become a reborn Christian when he returned.

          • Ferd Berfle

Others could obtain deferments based upon the importance of their civilian work, or for various hardship reasons.

Or from being connected, much like those who push this sort of crap but do no volunteering themselves.

strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges

Doesn’t anybody notice that there is objectionable language here that goes beyond “mandatory”? Involuntary servitude is bad enough, but this thinly veiled attempt at social engineering is unconscionable. Who is to say what constitutes “social fabric” and where it needs strengthening and conversely weakening?

        • http://firefox AnnieCollier

          overcome civic challenges

Wonder if that means, civic challenges such as those who vote against a third world dictator? Our very own Papa Doc. If that seem absurd, consider where we were a year ago. In my world, US socialism seemed a fantasy dreamed of by Chavez.

      • http://donnadarko.wordpress.com donna darko

It’s mandatory. Obama talked about mandatory youth service and voluntary, low-pay service for seniors throughout the campaign.

Unless people speak up about it like we are doing here. Obama is such a narcissist he will change his mind to please people.

        • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I believe MEchille’s comment on public service “Barack will make you work” was that Seniors should repay through public service, (cleaning streets, dog poop in the parks) for every dollar they collect. I took that to mean SS…which we’re already earned. But perhaps she didn’t know that and she means to put the welfare recipients to work.

I hate to think of what might happen if ACORN shows up at my door demanding my “service”. Can you say “mayhem”?

          • http://donnadarko.wordpress.com donna darko

      • FLDemFem

The 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution covers it quite well.

        1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

        2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

So the mandatory provision, no matter whether it’s under consideration, or in committee, or any other place, is un-Constitutional. Mandatory volunteerism is illegal on its face, says so in the United States Constitution. One would think a “Constitutional scholar” such as Obummer claims to be would know that. Of course, one doesn’t automatically think of the 13th amendment if one is not descended from slaves, as Obummer is not. You will note that it says that

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

It says nothing about Congress doing an end run around it by passing a bill calling for mandatory volunteerism. Which, incidentally, is an oxymoron.

      • TeakwoodKite

How many news articles did you read about this piece of legislation from Soertoro/Obama? This is not “volunteer” it is mandatory. Only the punishment for those who do NOT “volunteer” is not spelled out.

And if this becomes law, soon they must come for those who refuse to volunteer for they will lose authority if they do not. And I intend to remain free in the land my ancestors died for regardless of what they do to my Constitution to enslave me.

Who do you chose to stand with; the men who pledged their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor for this American dream or the man who doesn’t trust you to enough to even show you his credentials?

      • FLDemFem

If they try to make me volunteer, they are going to find themselves sued for violating my Constitutional rights. See my post above regarding the 13th Amendment. Although true, it is disingenuous to put this solely (or even primarily) to Clinton’s credit. The Republican congress lead him to a balanced budget, something the Dem party as a whole was dead set against. Remember the government shut downs, they were over increased spending proposals by Clinton. Every budget passed by the Republican congress was less then what Clinton requested. The Dem party has always poo-pooed the idea of a balanced budget until Clinton enjoyed the benefit (brought by a Repub congress) and they are back to their old game.

    • http://NoQuarterUSA.net Larry Johnson

      Sorry,

“But if the Congress had passed a 400 billion deficit and Clinton signed it who would you blame? Clinton of course.”

I would not blame Clinton, I would blame Clinton and Congress. The same way I blame Bush and Congress for the ridiculous deficit spending they did. Bush abandonded conservative principles of restrained spending, shame on him. But shame on the Republican congress also. Why I have said they didnt deserve to be re-elected. Shame on the Dem congress for going along with Bush spending starting in 2006 and double shame on them for going along with Obama spending. If you think that Obama would have ANY chance of getting his budget through if this was a Repub congress your just sadly mistaken.

Spending bills start in the Congress. If you don’t give the president his spending in the bill there aint a whole lot he can do about it. He can keep vetoing it but eventually you shut down government or you end up limiting spending anyways.

    • Ferd Berfle

Remember the government shut downs, they were over increased spending proposals by Clinton.

Actually, they weren’t. Clinton threatened to veto any legislation (he shook his pen at them and won) that increased spending without a decrease somewhere else. You have it completely backwards. He did veto legislation, which shut down the government for a few days and Congress had to back off and give him a balanced bill he could sign. Your attempts at rewriting history won’t work. He LED then to a balanced budget.

      • to77

your wrong. I just read the articles from the NY Times accounting the entire battle with one of the articles stating unequivocally that the Repubs passed a budget without one of Clinton’s new spending proposals included. In addition read the Contract With America one of it’s point is to balance the budget.

        Here’s some examples:

“While public reaction to the crisis is overwhelmingly one of frustration with politicians in general, President Clinton seems for now to be suffering the least damage, and may even be bolstering his overall position by refusing to accede to Republican demands for a programme to balance the budget within seven years by deep cuts in popular medical and social service programmes.” November 15, 1995

What does the shutdown have to do with a balanced federal budget? Congressional Republicans have been trying to force President Clinton to agree to a budget path that brings spending into line with revenues in seven years (by fiscal year 2002). Their first tactic was to refuse to raise the debt limit – preventing the executive branch from borrowing more money. So far, the administration has dodged this restriction by borrowing from the pension trust funds of federal employees [see the discussion below]. Republicans also are passing spending bills consistent with their own plan to get to a balanced budget. President Clinton has responded by vetoing the bills. National Center for Policy Analysis January 10 1996

I think CLEARLY you are the one attempting to “rewrite history”.

First Geitner says, oh, no that won’t happen…Then today, “he’s open to it”.

LJ: Perhaps you or LD could go into the ramifications of this, should it gather steam…

I find this grossly offensive. Another giant step toward removing our national identity.

    • devildog666

No national currency, humongous national debt and unaffordable social programs; we’re on our way to becoming a second rate country faster than I ever imagined was possible. At the rate we’re going the US will become a third world power in no time at all.

Yep–and these are only projections at this point. I have no doubt it will be even more than this.

This needs to be screamed from the top of every building in America.

Excellent and very honest post LJ. I really appreciate that quality in your writing. Knowledge will set us free from our fear, though perhaps not from our anger. I have a dumb question, but it is because I have read articles with conflicting “facts.” Do the numbers in your analysis and the CBO’s, etc. include all (maybe even the off budget expenses) military expenditures for both Bush and Obama for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? In other words is everything accounted for in the deficits projected? Or is the military stuff above and beyond? Who is Congress has your ear? I hope you have a big audience on the Hill. Can we call CNN producers and ask them to provideyou the opportunity to make this case of deficits to the television audience?

    • http://NoQuarterUSA.net Larry Johnson

Good question. I don’t think so. Worth double checking the CBO link.

    • TeakwoodKite

Two weeks ago, the Pent-a-gone contradicted BO the very next day saying there would be supplementals for the next ten years. How can these be included in any budget and be called “supplemental”?

Just askin. CG, Mr. Johnson does communicate very “eloquently”(the real deal) and BO would do well to take notice. Not that he will.

The “dud” was going to employ a different method than Bush, and present honest budgets.

This is an interesting article from Citizen Well’s site. Pay particular attention toward the end of the article about the’O's” multiple addresses/S.S.I.’s. Also, read down thru the comments to the part about Steve Pidgeon! The stuff about the man who wrote the article is weird-so I don’t know what to make of it. Maybe you have some input into this , Larry?

    Larry

Great analysis of our financial crisis. What Obama and Democrats are doing to the economy hasn’t resonated with most folks. The cultist media have been enablers of his lunatic policies. Also, some people want the government to take care of them and to hell with the deficits. However, for most hard-working Americans, we get it.

Obama is creating a socialist-welfare state and Geithner’s statement that he is opened to the idea of a “world currency” confirms our fears.

b matthews – reduce or eliminate charitable deductions –
There is a method to Obama’s madness. The Democrats and Obama want to social engineer which non-profit groups get federal money to pick their pet leftist projects. This is why the mandatory volunteer/ civilian bill is important for them to pass. In other words, besides trying to nationalize banks and health care, they now want to nationalize charities. It is a way to control the population especially the young people. This man is sick. Impeach Obama……………

    • JackStraw

An old saw about self-righteousness goes, Nobody is worse than a reformed whore. Given their long history of wanton deficit spending and their current outrage, the same thing seems true of republicans.

    Larry,

I learn a bunch reading blogs written by you. Thank you…

I don’t understand why the auction of U.S. Treasury Bonds fell flat today. Can you explain?

Thanks LJ for this excellent and most informative Article.

      Prediction (Tin Foil-Subversive Humor Alert):
Pe(empty suit) BO AND FRIENDS are secretly building mansions in China for their retirement REWARD; when they leave America in ashes (financially and otherwise) and they (BoBo and friends) will ALL BE JUST FINE after they totally destroy and leave the United States!!!

It turns out that Capitalism is not so bad anymore for the Chinese it is that pesky DEMOCRACY stuff that causes all the problems.

William Ayers (et al) will have a suite of rooms in (the now former PeBO’s) 5000 acre Billion Dollar family and friends compound in China.

The excuse for PeBo and Company living in China (on the Billions/Trillions of US Taxpayers Dollars that were stolen) will be that HE IS A WORLD LEADER after all and he is only bringing the WORLD CLOSER TOGETHER with HIS presence there.

P.S. Also, the NEW WORLD ORDER will have ONE CURRANCY; no longer U.S. money and our dollars will be worth nothing; well by that point maybe we can use them for toilet paper. After all those long lines to get real TP are a bitch (ala former Soviet Union).

WAKE-UP AMERICA BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!
Get Informed and Take Action (non-violent of course) and if you are so moved then…
Join in a Tea-Party (WE THE PEOPLE) Protest on April 15th in a CITY near you!!!

Thanks Judy, LOL (that made my day as reading NQ always does).

The Jay Leno piece and other jokes from his Monologue are quite hilarious: Leno Says “[The country of China is going to be doing a Broadway style play based on Karl Marx’s book on communism. A play based on communism. You know, that’s where capitalism has been replaced by the government taking over control of all private industries. Or as we call in this country, “a stimulus package.]”

See Judy’s post above for the link to the Leno video, if you didn’t see it then it’s worth watching. Thanks again for the GEMS at NQ; they keep me sane!!

    FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ISSUES ZERO ALERT

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS ISSUING THE FOLLOWING ALERT

Due to the increased demand of our zeroes, they are now in short supply. Please conserve your zeroes. The Federal government needs all we can get. During the wars in other countries we asked you to conserve certain items so that our soldiers fighting over there would have the food and supplies they needed.

Your country is calling on you again to show your patriotism by conserving our zeroes. This time we need more zeroes. There are more zeroes going out than coming in. Please cut back on your use of them. If you have any extras, please turn them in to us.
Please send your extra zeroes to:
    Secretary of the Treasury
    Timothy F. Geithner
    1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
    Washington DC 20220

He will make sure they are distributed where they are needed most. He is an expert on zeroes.

Secretary Geithner feels that if we can link enough of the zeroes together we can end our financial crisis. Right now there aren’t enough zeroes to form a long enough link. You could be “THE MISSING LINK” that supplies the zero that makes the number big enough to end the financial crisis. It is your duty as a citizen of the USA to do your part in saving, collecting, and sending us your zeroes.

You could start a local drive to collect zeroes, just like they did during the wars to collect metals and other items. Any patriotic citizen would be proud to give your group their extra zeroes. You will be a hero to your community and to your county.

As we did with the wars we fought all over the world, we need to pull together as a nation to end the financial crisis. We need to send Secretary Geithner all the ammunition he needs to fight this war. He needs your zeroes. It would be tragic if we were only one zero short of our goal. Don’t be THAT missing zero. If a soldier runs out of bullets, they have little chance of serving. If Secretary Geithner runs out of zeroes, we could loose this war.

    TRAVELING IN OTHER COUNTRIES
If you travel to other countries, and they let you get some zeroes, please get as many as you can. Even if you can only get a few, that will help us end this economic crisis that much sooner. A zero is the same in any country, so the ones they use in the country you visit will work her in the USA. There is no limit on how many you may bring into the USA. Customs has been alerted, and any zeroes you bring in will be collected there. They will expedite the transfer of your zeroes to Secretary Geithner.

    WAYS TO SAVE YOUR ZEROES
    (1) When you pay for items, don’t pay in even dollars. Pay the exact cents of the bill. That will give you two zeroes on most transaction.
    (2) Pay for each item individually instead of all of them at once, following rule number (1).
