LARRY’s Tuesday night UPDATE is AT THE END of the STORY
Bloomberg News, March 25, 2008:
Obamas Donated Less Than 1% of Their 2000-2004 Income
By Ryan J. Donmoyer and Julianna GoldmanMarch 25 (Bloomberg) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign.
The couple earned more than $2.6 million in 2005 and 2006, combined, after the Illinois senator published a bestselling book in 2005. They donated $137,622 over those two years and made their church, Trinity United Church of Christ, one of the biggest beneficiaries of their philanthropy, donating $27,500. Obama is under scrutiny for his ties to the church because of comments made by its senior pastor. …
Besides the extraordinary stinginess — whatever happened to their deep-felt ties to the Christian faith which teaches CHARITY — there’s that they gave some of the largest sums to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who preaches hate, racism, and anti-Americanism.
(Updated by Larry Johnson) Barack Obama wants you to believe that he was a community organizer dedicated to working on behalf of the poor. Well, as a Christian committed to a theology based on black supremacy, he apparently was too busy to take time to read the 7th Chapter of the book of Matthew in the New Testatment:
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Hypocrisy is a wonderful thing. I don’t expect Obama to give all that he has to the poor. But to donate less than $3000 a year when he is making on average $300000 a year is beyond pathetic. Talk is cheap. At least this gives me a chance to fell morally superior to Saint Obama. I made less money per year during the same time period but gave more to charity. But at least we are seeing a consistent pattern of behavior from Obama. He’s good with golden words, but fails to follow the golden rule.
