The Obama Record: Just Words [Updated]

UPDATE: Hillary will be interviewed tonight on Hannity & Colmes (6/9 p.m. PST) and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren (7/10 p.m. PST), both on Fox News.

 From a Clinton campaign memo today:

Yesterday, a Pennsylvania editorial board asked Sen. Clinton how she would have “responded if [her] pastor had said some of the things that Rev. Wright said?”  

In response, she said Rev. Wright would not have been her pastor, an honest view shared by many Americans.

The Obama campaign’s response?  Attack Sen. Clinton and accuse her of trying to divert attention from the Bosnia trip story and her record of foreign policy experience.

Sen. Clinton’s response was sincere. The Obama attack was disingenuous.


We are happy to discuss Sen. Clinton’s foreign policy experience and her record overall.  Unfortunately, the Obama campaign doesn’t want to discuss its candidate’s record and prefers personal attacks instead.

Sen. Obama knows that if he focused on his experience, he’d get questions about the shortcomings in his record and the efforts he has made to embellish it.

He’d have to deal with the fallout from this week’s Washington Post report on his gross exaggeration of his role on immigration reform and housing policy.
 


Sen. Obama would have to explain why the New York Times reported that he claims credit for passing nuclear leak legislation that never got out of committee.
 


He’d have to confront reports from FactCheck.org and other independent organizations that say his claims of providing a universal health care plan are based on selective, embellished and out-of-context quotes from newspapers.
 


He’d have to discuss the LA Times story that reported on how his fellow organizers say he took too much credit for his community organizing efforts.
 


He’d have to explain why he regularly claims he was a law professor when in fact he held no such title.

Sen. Obama seems to think disingenuous attacks on Sen. Clinton will address the concerns voters have about his record and readiness to be the Commander-in-Chief and the steward of our economy.  They won’t.
 


In the end, Sen. Obama’s words cannot erase Hillary’s 35-year record of action because when all is said and done, words aren’t action.  They are just words.

      I totally agree, but unfortunately the mainstream narrative focuses exclusively on the spoon fed attacks of Axelrod & Co., and gets away with it, because the real journalists are blogging or…where? Europe? It’s a very sad and disturbing spectacle to continue to witness. Every day I ask in bewilderment: “Not only is he a hypocrite, but doesn’t it bother anyone that he HAS NO EXPERIENCE?!” How can the Dem leaders promote this pathetic candidate as if he is the second coming? And Hillary, who has worked her ass off for almost 4 decades is vilified by this arrogant overreacher and he is applauded for it? Wake me when the nightmare is over.

    So she did this by responding to a direct question not related to Bosnia? Wow. She’s good.

It is still incomprehensible to me that the media and liberal elite (including the Dem hierarchy) are bending over backwards to create rationalizations for someone who enabled a bigot? For president?! What is going on in this country? Imagine if Hillary had listening to white supremacist rants for 20 years.

      I was thinking this would be a good time for Clinton to emphasis her record, her real work.

      You know, in addition to the college loan reform, Clinton has been, and is, instrumental in the effort to have medical records digitized.

      This has modernized the system immensely, again, a major undertaking Clinton was able to commandeer, progressive US domestic policy, and yes, it all matters.

      And where is Obama?

      Oh, yeah, getting a tan in the VI.

      What? No Emil Jones to grease this one, too? Or did someone forget to pay off the hospital boards, now that Rezko is out of commission?

    So with the above, the American Spectator and the support of Richard Mellon Scaife, she’s now part of the vast rightwing conspiracy?

    I never thought I would live to see the day that Hillary would be kissing their asses after all they’ve done to her family.

    I am very glad that Hillary matter of factly answered the reporter’s question. It is about time someone said that. And I agree that millions of Americans have been asking the same question.

    As to the Obama attacks… they are expected. They signaled early that this would be their game plan. Because they know the more than embarrassing relationship Obama has with racists and bigots isn’t going away anytime soon. So they will attempt to discredit any little thing they can about Hillary much like the way the Republicans did nearly a decade ago. In fact let me rephrase that.. Obama is doing EXACTLY what the Republicans did.

    I am one of many that have fallen onto Fox News for some reason and objectivity and have found that O’Reily is really more resonable than Olberman and his pals. Where is she supposed to go? MSNBC? And as a former Pittsburgher the Tribune is the major newspaper in western PA. Again, where else is she supposed to go?
