I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. But, the only one I know that is in that region is Mercy Corps, so I hope they can help you. What about the military? If we were to get together and make up care packages for a start, till you could get a list of suppliers and things, would they distribute them? I know it wouldn’t be much, but I would think anything to show we care till we can do better might help.

I’ll do anything I can to help if you let us know what you need us to do. I’ll even go to the schools here for you and ask them to help. Children love to feel like their doing something to help. Our schools made up care packages for the military men and women for Christmas.

I have already called Christian Childrens Fund and others, but they don’t have any of those direct sponsorships in Afghanistan. Like Oxfam, there are Org’s that have humanitarian efforts where they provide general aid, but not direct sponsorship or contacts with families that we could provide direct aid.

But…we will keep on. It surely has shown me how they are not getting the help they need.

I spoke with someone at US A I D this morning and she said he has asked a couple people if they have any suggestions and then I shared with her my additional hopes and role they could possibly play, like a link and database of “American Families helping Afghanistan Families” sort of thing. Where we could sign up to get a familly to help or sponsor. Like I told her (she was very nice and appreciative) if we can do what we do from our own homes making phone calls for campaigns, we should be able to do this.

Maybe we can recommend to the State Department, for everyday citizens to offer direct help, with their assistance. Like put together a “Help a Family in Afghanistan” listing and information we need to do so effectively and directly.
